  • In a world where a place like Bodromdk exists, it's hard to believe there is a place like the Eastern Empire on the same planet. If someone were to brave the harsh desert that borders Bodromdk and make it past the fierce eastern warriors on patrol, they'd come face to face with quite the sight: the Eastern Border. Once they reached the land, they'd notice how harshly the two territories contrast. Unlike the barren, unforgiving sands that make up the Western Empire, the Eastern territory is blanketed in dense jungle and woodland, which are filled to the brim with game of all sizes, shapes, and color. The only similarities the two kingdoms shared were the spires and mountains, which each territory used to their advantage. The Western kingdom had more spires than the Eastern kingdom, and the Eastern kingdom had more mountains than the West. Both kingdoms were built around a large center spire, though, which housed each kingdom's respective leader. Dynni wrapped herself around her spire while Ynnit floated among the clouds that shroud his. Below Ynnit's stormy spire resided his kingdom: various buildings--which resembled those made by humans--were built around the spire. There were even streets in place, kept neat and tidy by the kingdom's residents. The dragons which made up the kingdom were awake and alive, filling the air with voices, laughter, and more. One dragon in particular was quite the rambunctious one this morning, and they weren't alone.

    "Excuse me!"

    "Coming through!"

    "Sorry!"

Everyone in the kingdom knew who that voice belonged to: Vophi, one of the last humans that remained on this planet. Her and her trusty companion Nilanth were racing through the streets, shoving any and every dragon aside as they raced for Ynnit's spire, trying to get there as quick as possible. Various greeting and apologies flew from her lips as she clutched onto Nilanth's rough scales, trying desperately to stay on his back. "N-Nilanth!" She shouted, striking the wyvern on the back with her fist. "Slow down! You're wrecking everything!" she chastised, earning a grumble in reply from the dragon underneath. However, instead of obeying her instruction, the wyvern only sped up, forcing a scream of surprise from the puny human as her grip on his scaly body tightened. "Hey!" Vophi squeaked, then growled when she felt his body rumble: a telltale sign of laughter. Unlike her light laughter, Nilanth's laughter was much deeper and caused her very being to rumble. "Did you hear you scream? Hilarious!" The dragon underneath cackled, earning an annoyed growl from the girl and another strike from her fist. He did slow down after a few moments, though, but not because of Vophi's request. They were nearing the spire, and if he was running at the same speed the royal guard would suspect he was attacking. He didn't want to get into another quarrel with the burly, armor-clad dragons, and Vophi's presence doubled that. Those brutes would squash her without even realizing it!

Speaking of the guard, a loud "HALT!" caused Nilanth to skid to a halt, and folding his wings to his sides with a grumble, he rolled his eyes and shook his head. Two burly, armor-clad dragons stepped in front of Nilanth and spread their large wings, blocking the path. "State your business with the king!" the dragon to the right barked at them, baring his teeth at the two. Vophi couldn't help but feel offended: did they really think she'd try to assassinate the dragon who she served so obediently? She puffed out her cheeks and crossed her arms, furrowing her brows. "We have some important news to share with the king," Nilanth replied coolly, trying his best to mask his growing annoyance. The two guards exchanged looks, nodded, then stepped aside to let the two pass. Releasing a breath she didn't know she was holding, Vophi gripped Nilanth's scales as he spread his wings and shot up into the air, the warm updraft below carrying him to the top of the gargantuan spire. The human watched as the town grew smaller and smaller before being swallowed by the fog that shrouded King Ynnit and the top of his spire. Landing onto the flat top of the spire, Nilanth had to dig his claws into the ground due to the wind, and Vophi had to squint due to the wind stinging her eyes. Everything was quiet, still, and tranquil.

Then, a loud roar pierced the heavens like a blade, and out of the thick fog layer he appeared like a God. In fact, some dragons considered the king a God. His forelegs gripped the sides of the spire so he could steady himself, and lowering his gargantuan head so he could see the human, the King smiled. "Ah, Vophi! Is everything well?" He inquired, earning a smile and a nod from the human after she and her companion bowed to him. Despite his intimidating size, Vophi felt no fear. In fact, she found comfort in his presence. "Yes my King, but now is not the time for greetings for I have some important news to share," she replied, pointing towards the West. "A large storm is heading right for our kingdom: a storm powerful enough to tear through our land effortlessly," she reported, earning a 'quiet' sigh from the king, who nodded in acknowledgement. "I see," he replied, his smile fading. "Fret not, young one, I will direct the storm away from our home," he assured them, but before he could dismiss the two, Vophi spoke up yet again. "Y-Your majesty, m-me and Nilanth were actually planning on investigating the s-source of the s-storm..." she replied weakly, losing every ounce of confidence she had just moments before. The king seemed displeased with her words. "Vophi, if your words are true, it is far too dangerous to investigate," he denied her offer, but the human didn't seem to catch onto his growing annoyance and thus pestered him further. "But, what if it's a trap-..." that seemed to anger the king, whose frills splayed out to display his annoyance. "Must I repeat myself, child? I forbid you from investigating! You are too valuable to loose! Leave, and do not bring this matter up again," he snapped, then dismissed them with a flick of his tail, disappearing into the cloud layer.

Sand, sand, and more sand. The only word that could best describe the land of Bodromdk was sand. The Serpent Empress Dynni was banished here for a reason; King Ynnit never wanted to see her face again. Anyone sent to the deserts of Daosr, which was its previous name, would usually perish in the span of a few days. Unlike other dragons, though, Dynni managed to form her empire here. She traveled for days on end; dehydration and exhaustion almost got the best of her, but just when she thought her time had run out, she stumbled upon a desert oasis. A large one at that. Here, she started to build.

Now, residing on top of the desert oasis, was her beautiful kingdom. Stone pillars jutted out of the ground like spires; each one unique in its own way. The largest one, placed in the center of the kingdom, was so high it pierced the clouds. This was where Dynni stayed; her long, gargantuan form wrapped around the spire, and due to the sheer length of her body her head also breached the clouds. Her red, glowing eyes watched everything going on below her like a hungry hawk, and if anything was out of place, she'd lower down to settle the issue. No one in the entire kingdom dared to stand up to the Empress, and they had no reason to. They came to her kingdom voluntarily.

Staring at the dragons down below, Dynni's eyes examined each and every one of them, like she was searching for a certain someone. Actually, she was searching for someone. Aallotar, one of the citizens of her kingdom. She tasked the dragoness with accompanying her precious human, and so far she was doing well. A hiss of frustration escaped her reptilian lips when she couldn't locate her, and raising her broad head to the sky, a mighty roar resonated through the air. Not a single one of her citizens stopped what they were doing; this roar was a summoning roar, not one of anger or attention. It didn't concern them. Even if Aallotar was far, she'd be able to hear Dynni's mighty roar.

    (Rushed this part)

  • A slender form danced her way across the sky twirling and gliding with grace that would cause even the birds of the air to be envious. Her white and purple body shone beautifully in the sun. On her back there was a small spec, or at least what it would look like from the ground. That small spec was a rarity. A human which had not been seen for years had suddenly appeared. The dragoness who he rode on had been only a hatchling when they came to pick a protector for him. There were much larger and more imposing dragons but, Aallotar and Elek were inseparable.

The young man wore a big smile laughing from his vantage point. He didn't come alive much. This was the only time he smiled and felt truly alive. Elek knew it was best to stay close to the Heaven Spire as he liked to call it. It was safest there and since he was considered valuable Dynni liked to keep her red eyes on him. He shuttered at the thought of those eyes and stopped smiling. Gripping on tightly to Aallotar's white scales as he breath began to come more shallow. The slender dragon felt th shift and slowed considerably. "It's alright I won't let anything happen to you." The dragoness swore solemnly.

Before Elek could respond a loud roar broke the peace. The white dragoness stiffened herself. "Go." Elek encouraged sitting low almost laying his face against her back. Their fun was over for the moment. He still did love to feel her feats of speed. Grand purple wings spread open beside him. With one large flaps they went soaring through the air so fast that the air around them cracked like thunder. Aallotar was only a white blurb in the sky as she headed straight towards Dynni. What would take most dragons minutes to reach the dragoness reached in seconds. When the Spire came into view Aallotar opened her wings and slowed herself down so she would not crash into anyone or anything. Flying to the base of the Spire she bowed her head low and Elek did the same. He prayed that Dynni was not angry at him for something.

  • Dynni smiled--her lips curled in a way that made her look more threatening than she wanted--clearly pleased with how fast they arrived. "Ah, Aallotar, you never keep me waiting," she hummed, praising the dragoness. Receiving praise from the empress was a rarity, so she must be in a good mood. In fact, she was: their most recent battle with the East resulted in Western victory. Loosening her coils, the serpent lowered her head down to look at the duo, head tilted to the side and tongue flicking at the air. When Dynni was as close as she was now, the air would notably heat up, and it may seem uncomfortable now but, when she was angry, the heat turned excruciating. Her piercing red orbs bored into both dragon and human, but luckily for them she didn't stare for long, and instead moved her head to gaze off into the distance. "Do you sense that, in the horizon?" She asked, being unnecessarily vague. She had a habit of doing that: Dynni expected everyone in the kingdom to be on the same page as her, which was difficult since she could feel when a pebble shifted. "A ssstorm in brewing, a sssudden one at that, and I am curious," she explained, heaving a loud sigh(which sounded more like metallic clanging than a sigh). "I'd like you two to invessstigate the ssstorm for me: there isss only one dragon capable of conjuring ssstorms so large, and that isss Ynnit," Dynni spat his name, baring her teeth afterwards. This moment didn't last long, though, since getting angry would result in her burning duo she was speaking to. Turning her gaze back to them, her eyes stared down at Aallotar, and that eerie grin was upon her face yet again. "You do your job well Aallotar, ssso I have no doubt you will protect our preciousss human while you two invessstigate, correct?" She hissed, quirking a scaly brow. The empress didn't expect anything other than a yes, so she continued speaking. "If you two do sssee that dreaded Ynnit, retreat immediately and report to me," she instructed, her shoulders shifting atop the spire. "If the ssstorm gets too rough, retreat, and if retreat isss not posssssible, I will be able to find you," she added after a few moments. It was true: even in the worst storms Dynni could locate you, since she was able to pinpoint a dragon's heartbeat in a matter of moments. Raising her head when she finished speaking, Dynni nodded her head in the direction of the storm, furrowing her brows. "Now, go! Don't keep me waiting."

"I can't believe he won't let me go!"

Vophi practically flung herself backwards onto Nilanth's back, crossing her arms and grumbling under her breath. The wyvern rolled his eyes in response and lowered down onto the ground, staring out into the distance. Currently, the two were perched on a cliff quite far away from the kingdom so Vophi could vent all she pleased without drawing attention to herself. "What are you going to do, then?" Nilanth growled in reply, his wings twitching and tail swishing. He was itching to go out for a flight, and he too wanted to investigate that storm. "Are you going to disobey your kings orders and go anyway?" He hummed, trying to get a response out of her. All he got was silence, and for a moment he grew worried. Was she actually going to agree? His suspicions were answered when she replied with a short, hesitant maybe. Almost immediatly the wyvern stood and spread his mighty wings--surprising the poor girl atop his back--and he started to run. Nearing the cliff's edge, the crimson dragon leaped and soared, heading right for the desert. "N-Nilanth!" Vophi yelped, watching as the lush jungles became more and more scarce as they entered enemy territory. "I said maybe, not yes!" she hissed, clutching her daggers subconsciously. "Your maybe is a yes to me," he replied nonchalantly, and groaning lowly, Vophi pressed her stomach up against his back and tried to hide herself. When Ynnit found out about this they'd be in so much trouble. She didn't want to think about it.

  • Dynni being a good mood looked almost as scary as when she was in a foul one. Still, it was good news she was happy. Elek could feel Aallotar puff up a bit at the praise. Elek sat back quietly and listened. That was all he rarely ever did unless spoken to. Of course that's how everyone who wanted to live addressed the Empress anyway. When the large head lowered to stare into their very being Aallotar raised her head shifting her wings a bit out of nervous habit. The heat Dynni produced was always quite troubling to a Longwing like herself since they were more oriented to the cold and extreme heat could be devasting. Even if it was only warm by comparison to her wrath when she was angry. Still it made the dragoness a little uneasy. When Dynni asked about things changing both of them exchanged a confused look.

"The winds are changing." Aallotar mentioned.

Otherwise the pair had no clue what was changing. Still, Dynni made herself more clear. Elek looked off into the horizon as if hoping to catch a glimpse of the sandstorm but, could see nothing at all. Still they both nodded in agreement. Out of habit whenever Ynnit's vile name was mentioned Elek would spit into the dirt. He supposed it was a human thing to show disgust for the false god those do-gooders worshipped. Aallotar began to shift and become uncomfortable at the heat coming from the Empress. Sighing when the temperature lowered the dragoness settled. Aallotar straightened and nodded vigorously when asked if she would protect Elek. To the Longwing he was a brother, she would die for him without a second thought.

With their orders Elek leaned down close to her white neck as Aallotar opened her purple wings. "Of course my Empress." She responded and with one strong flap of her wings was gone, a white blur again. Elek collapsed on to her back as the dragoness went to a slower speed. "I hope this is just natural I don't want to have to be the one to tell her it was Ynnit." He mumbled and then sat back up to look for it. Of course a giant spiral of sand and strong winds was not hard to find.

For the moment the pair hid in the clouds letting Aallotar's coloring blend them in.

  • "Nilanth, what part of you thought flying into a storm was a good idea!" Vophi yelled over the howling winds, which whipped at her face and stung her eyes. The dragon underneath didn't reply, meaning she had won this argument before it had even begun. Pressing up against his back she gripped onto his scales, trying desperately to stay on. Sand, sand, and more sand. Sand was everywhere: in her eyes, in her hair, on her armor, and Nilanth wasn't exempt from this either. "M-Maybe we should turn back!" the girl offered, earning a growl from the wyvern under her, who continued on his path. Did the whole "best flyer" praise from Ynnit go to his head? Probably. According to the King, Nilanth's mother was able to cut through storms like a knife. Vophi touched her armor when she remembered the dragoness. This moment didn't last long, though, because a sudden shout from Nilanth caused Vophi to freeze up. "What? What is it!" Vophi shouted, looking around frantically. Before the wyvern could answer, though, he noticed something in the air. He didn't react soon enough, though, and whatever the object was tore through his wing! Screaming in agony, Nilanth tried to maintain lift, but the changing winds combined with his fresh injury caused the wyvern to start plummeting. He flew with injuries worse than this, but not in a full-blown storm! Panic settled in his stomach as they fell through the sky, and parting his jaws in a loud, panicked roar the wyvern released a stream of flame from his jaws, which spiraled through the air like his body. He had to do something: the fall would kill both of them. Gritting his teeth, Nilanth suddenly threw his wings open, slowing their decent just enough for him to manage a very sloppy landing. Crashing head-first into a sand dune, the wyvern tumbled down the other side, leaving Vophi at the base of it. The poor girl was huddled against the dune and trembling, her eyes wide with shock. What just happened? Was she still alive? Were they dead?

The stinging wings convinced her otherwise, and standing up on shaky legs, she used her scaly cloak to protect her face from the sandy debris as she tried to look for Nilanth. "Nilanth! Nilanth where are you!" she shouted, but received no reply. She suddenly felt weak, vulnerable even. Any desert animal would carry her off in a heartbeat, and any dragon that found her would probably kill her. They'd kill Nilanth, too. Newfound dread bubbled up as she slid down the opposite side of the dune, following the indents her dragon companion left behind.

(Should they meet up now or after the storm?)

  • (It's more dramatic if they meet during the storm)

The mass of sand and wind had become bigger and bigger. Aallotar did her best to stay out of its reach but, even the sky was protected from it. She steadied herself in the air. Elek was beginning to get motion sick from how much the dragoness had to move to keep herself from being overpowered by the strong winds.

"We should go back." Aallotar called over th storm. This probably wasn't Ynnit's handy work. It was so big and uncontrollable.

"Do think the Empress will take assumptions?" He snapped back and squinted his eyes looking down into the swirling sandy mass. If it was Ynnit's it should move faster then this. Surely he would want to hit Dynni with it before she could react. Maybe it was trap to lure Dynni out of the safety of the Oasis.

Frowning deeply he pulled a piece of cloth over his mouth to keep the dirt out of his nose and mouth. They hovered for a few tense seconds struggling to see anything. Then, out of no where there was a scream and flames shooting into the sky. "A dragon got caught in there." Aallotar tense and Elek steadied himself looking at the flames. The dragon could be hurt. Maybe it was one Ynnit's and they could get information from the dragon. "Let's go." He mumbled through the cloth.

Still, she understood and the pair began to head towards the source of the flames. Flying high they avoided some of the wind and sand. As they descended it became harder and hard for Aallotar to fly straight. The white dragon flew slowly and cautiously wincing as sand blasted in both her eyes. She closed her eyes a began flying blind. The wind and the sand dulled Elek's senses so he had to rely on the dragoness. A large sand blast caused him to loose his grip. Aallotar was too late to catch him. Elek went plummeting to the ground. The dragoness dove for him. Grabbing him with her front legs she spiraled and landed hard on her back in a nearby sand dune. Elek was wrapped protectively in her arms. The impact knocked the wind out of him and he laid there and gasped for a few moments before struggling to his feet. Aallotar lay still wincing as she tried to get up. After a coulple more tries she got to her feet and shook off th sand. Besides a few scrapes she seemed to be fine if s bit dazed. He looked off in the distance able to make out a smaller figure who looked more human then dragon. The pair moved their way closer cautiously.

  • Vophi would be better of blind in this weather: at least she wouldn't have a need to keep her eyes open. "Nilanth!" she shouted once again, her voice becoming hoarse from constant use. She was starting to grow worried, since he was both injured and in enemy territory! Gritting her teeth, she looked around, trying to search for any sign of the crimson wyvern. Then, she froze, seeing some movement in the distance. Hope bubbled up in her stomach: this dragon could be Nilanth! However, her hope was soon replaced by dread when she realized it wasn't Nilanth: this dragon had four legs, she could tell by their gait, and Nilanth only had two. Swallowing harshly, Vophi quickly clambered over the side of the dune, then slid down the opposite side. She yelled words that would make no sense to the Western dragon--they were in an Eastern language which was used for combat purposes only--which directly translated to 'enemies nearby'. She could hear something moving, but she couldn't see where it was coming from due to both the darkness and sand. However, she did see what looked like a tail swipe through the air, and from the silhouette it looked like it belonged to Nilanth. She decided to take her chances: the dragon behind her was definitely of the West, and if she didn't find Nilanth soon she'd be killed in an instant.

Glancing back in the direction of the dragon following her, Vophi crouched on the top of the dune and remained still, trying to search for Nilanth while keeping an eye on them.

  • Elek searched over every inch of his companion to make sure it was nothing more serious. Sighing softly he drew his axe keeping an eye on the figure in the distance. It could be a magical creature but, he highly doubted it. Could it be human? The idea unsettled him slightly. The thought of possibly have to kill one of his own kind was a scary thought. Squinting his eyes he heard Aallotar hiss as the form disappeared behind a sand dune. Aallotar picked up speed running towards the sand dune the girl was hiding behind.

Instead of following behind the Longwing Elek snuck around the sand dune the other way. The storm made his progress slow and it was obvious he would reach whoever it was very fast. But, it was very unlikely they saw him since they would probably focusing on the dragon. The low visibility meant he had to work to find whoever it was. Seeing a flash of movement he whistled and Aallotar leapt up blasting ice at the movement. Elek ran as quickly as he could. He could now see the figure more clearly. And she was most certainly human.

  • When Vophi saw the ice a scream burst from her throat, but it was quickly drowned out by a louder, deafening screech as her companion shot up into the air, flames coating his muzzle and claws poised for an attack. The wyvern had used his flame to protect himself, which was effective against the ice attack. He was a crimson blur: flying low to the ground he dove for the attacker, pinning them down with one foot and applying some pressure. Spreading his wings, the wyvern bared his fangs and parted his jaws, preparing to blast the attacker with a stream of flames. However, when he noticed what they were, he hesitated. "A human!" the wyvern squawked, taken aback. He was told Vophi was the last human! Clearly their words weren't true, since their was a human right under his claws. He was in so much shock he forgot this human had a dragon with them, and standing their with his wings spread he was quite a large target.

Vophi was flung to the side due to the sheer force of the wind Nilanth created, and shaking her head to regain focus, she froze. "Nilanth! Nilanth, pay attention! There is a dragon!" She shouted over the wind, which started to knock her around and ended up shoving her into the sand once again while she tried to get to her dragon companion. She drew her daggers and dug them into the sand, trying to brave the winds and stay put. Vaulting with her spear would be too dangerous: the wind could suddenly pick up and she could be flung who knows how far. Getting lost in a desert didn't sound fun, and getting stuck in a desert full of enemies sounded just dreadful.

  • Elek's breath was caught in his throat as a large Wyvern screeched and tackled him to the ground. Of course the young man wasn't a match for a much larger dragon. He winced as he felt the dragon's weight bearing on his chest. It was so painful he let out a pained scream of agony. He looked straight up at the dragon clearly expecting the dragon to kill him. He always guessed he would die by a dragon. He just didn't quite imagine it happening so soon. But, then he felt a bit of relief from the pressure on his chest. Blinking he noticed how shocked the dragon looked that he was human. He tried to reach his axe which had been knocked clean out of his hands. It was too far away and his other axe had been lost in the landing.

Then out of no where came a smaller white blur. Aallotar did not waste a second savagely jumping on the Wyvern and tearing and clawing at him throwing him off balance. Elek felt the pressure release from his chest. Although he felt like he couldn't breath and every movement was painful he scrambled out of way and snatched his axe. He frowned and looked at the girl who was yelling at the Wyvern. He charged at her slammed into her with all his weight.

  • Due to her small size and light weight Vophi was knocked pretty far, and the tackle did knock the wind out of her lungs. Lying there on the sand she struggled to breathe, and coughing due to the sand she stared up at the figure, freezing up. Another human? Another human! She didn't get to see them before: Nilanth had flung her aside. Memories of Ynnit's stories flooded her mind, and gripping her daggers, she inhaled sharply. He told her that the humans he grew up around were ruthless and hunted the dragons. Was this human like that? Scooting away, she called for her dragon again, who she noticed was being attacked by the other one. Breath hitching in her throat, Vophi glanced from human to dragon and back again, then shouted something in the language from before. Nilanth heard the reply but couldn't act upon it: he was currently wrestling with the other dragon, whose claws raked his scales and drew blood. Screaming, Nilanth started to spit fire haphazardly, but luckily for him he and (some of)Vophi were fireproof. Spreading his wings, the wyvern tried to knock the dragon clean off of his back, trying to use the large spikes on his tail to gore them if they managed to cling on. Vophi had told him to take to the skies, but that would be hard considering the fact he had a full grown dragon on him. "Touch her and I will tear you all to shreds!" Nilanth roared, sending a jet of fire the attacking human's path. Maybe that would distract their companion, or at least protect Vophi until he could free himself from his attacker.

When Vophi seen the jet of fire she immediately hid behind her cloak, which was made of her adoptive mother's scales, meaning it was fireproof. Her daggers were held tightly in her grip: if she lost them she'd be without a formidable weapon.

  • Elek gasped for breath. When that dragon had stepped on him it was very possible it had cracked or broken some his ribs. His whole chest was on fire. The pain and confusion of seeing another human made him slower to get up. He was wasting precious second but, his mind couldn't comprehend. She was human just like him! Where had she even come from? Seeing the flash from her daggers brought him back to reality. "What are you doing in our lands?" He snapped at the girl drawing his ax. They spoke the language of the East. They were with Ynnit. He growled and drew up his ax. He hesitated still gripping the ax tightly, turning his attention instead to the dragons. Aallotar dug her claws deep into the Wyvern's back hissed and biting at his wings and neck. Her long sharp tail fins began to slash at him as well. "You touched him so I guess I should return the favor!" The dragoness hissed sinking her claws deeper. Elek barely managed to jump our of the way of the flames. Aallotar hissed in out rage wincing as she felt flames burn the tip of her wing. Refusing to let go with her teeth.

  • Nilanth had enough of this, and Vophi could tell. He ceased struggling for a few moments, then spread his wings, which trembled with the wind. Turning his head to face the dragoness he hissed, a maleficent grin upon his face. Then, leaping into the air, he beat his wings and shot into the sky. He'd have the advantage up here, or so he hoped. Staring down at the human below with wide, wild eyes he parted his jaws in a screech and released a jet of flame, but instead of ending it there he started to drag it across the land in an attempt to torch them. He also formed a ring of flame around Vophi in an attempt to protect her, but he was a bit sloppy and almost burned her. He didn't notice. When he was sure she was safe Nilanth turned his attention to the dragon and, craning his neck to look at them, sparked up the flame again in an attempt to torch them. Clearly they didn't like fire, so he could use that to his advantage. His flame-coated muzzle snapped at their wings: if everything went according to plan he'd be able to tear a hole in theirs and cause them to plummet. Even though he was trying to focus on flying he found maintaining lift hard: the hole in his wing combined with the storm meant the odds were stacked up against him, and the dragon on his back made matters worse.

Vophi screamed when the flames got a bit too close to her and, huddling in the center of the ring, she stared at the attacking human through the scorching flames. Sweat beaded on her skin and she felt like she was being scorched alive: Nilanth's flames were much hotter than anything she's ever experienced. Panic was starting to settle in, and Vophi found her eyes searching the sky. Ynnit said he would take care of the storm, right? Maybe he would appear! She hoped he would: being punished sounded better than dying. Speaking of Ynnit, maybe she could strike fear in this human? "My King is coming to quell this storm," she hissed, her gaze flickering from the quarreling dragons above to the human in front of her. "And when he does, you will be glad he is merciful," she tried her best to sound intimidating, but her Eastern accent combined with her lack of air and the smoke around her made her voice sound weak. Then, she decided to answer his question. "The same reason you are: to scout this storm," she growled, shifting around inside of the ring. Were the flames coming closer? She hoped not.
