  • Selena nodded after he said his answer, looking away from him and in front of her. A silent sigh escaped her, they had been walkin for quite a while now and they still haven't seen anything like a small town or something, it was all just trees at both sides with some grass and sand in front of them as they walked. "Are you sure we're going in the right direction?"She asked, turning around herself to take a glance for everything, this place had trees all around them that are starting to die obviously from the pollution and war, but what worried her a bit was how the trees could still hide a lot of stuff under their shade...

  • Fenris paused to dig through his backpack for a moment, pulling out the map in response to the question. "I believe that we are. One of the signs that we passed earlier had the name of this highway on it." He pointed to the road on the map so Selena could see what he meant. "It leads straight to Washington D.C. so I'm pretty sure we're on the right path." He added, tracing the road with his finger for a moment. With that he carefully folded the map back up and slipped it into his pocket.

  • She looked at the map and listened intently to what he had to say, as he folded it, she turned her head around to look at the other way that those men had gone to, then back to the way they were walking towards. It was still a long way to Washington D.C and "What if the bunkers are just a rumor and we went through all of this for nothing?" She absent-mindedly thought aloud. Imagine if they went all this way and went through all of this for nothing, plus, Washington is the Capital which meant that it would be the city most likely bombed, raided and attacked, so it would be quite dangerous.

  • Fenris seemed to think about that for a moment, a small sigh escaping him. He had considered that possibility only a few times before now, and he always came to the same conclusion. It infuriated him a bit that this was the only answer he could find. "Well, even if it is all destroyed and crawling with enemies then we can move on. I'd rather know now and move forward than be dragged down by thoughts of what could've been." He replied after another small moment of silence. It was what he told himself everytime he thought about such a question, and it worked sometimes.

  • She smiled at his answer, it was kind of cute how he was hopeful in such a time, and that actually brought her mood up slightly. "I'm glad at least one of us is hopeful and an optimist." She chuckled, nudging him gently with her elbow and smiling at him. "After that battle we had, I'm almost sure we can kick some more butts." She laughed this time, looking at the ground after she said it, gently kicking the dirt and soil under her boots aimlessly so that not to create too much sand fog and not to create a loud noise from her kicking.

  • Although Fenris wouldn't exactly call himself much of an an optimist; Selena's humor was infectious and he found himself chuckling along for a moment as well. "I'm sure we could, although next time I'd prefer if we were the ones catching our enemy off guard and pinning them down." He replied to the second remark, adjusting the bags he was carrying for a moment. They had been put rather uncomfortable position whenever he had gotten his rifle out.

  • She smiled as she walked forward, glancing at Fenris every now and then and seeing that he was adjusting the bags. "Does the gentleman need any help?" She said, letting out a half suppressed laugh after she said it and looking at him, she was kind of looking for a reaction on his face but his mask hid it, so she just waited for any laugh or answer. She was carrying her bag and the other one normally, adjusting them over her shoulder every now and then on the road as her shoulder was begining to be sore from holding ths bags in the same place and not moving it for a while. She brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear as she walked along Fenris, waiting for a reply..

    (So sorry for late reply!!)

  • Fenris scoffed and rolled his eyes but a small chuckle escaped him as well. "Of course not, just had to make them a bit more comfortable. They were running me raw a second ago." He replied with a small shrug to accentuate his sentence. The bags were a bit heavy he had to admit, but someone was going to have to carry them and that was him. Maybe if they got far enough away they could set up camp somewhere for the night. "Do you think there's some sort of town close by? Those men clearly weren't heading off on a long journey, more like a joyride, so maybe there's some civilization up ahead?"

  • "Maybe a town that still had some of it standing." She replied, tilting her head slightly to ths side as she emphasized "some" because it is impossible to have any kind of civilization still alive around here without being bombed or ambushed in some way or the other. She continued walking for a bit, before she found...smoke? Coming out of the place under the hill they were on right now, she raised her eyebrows as she quickened her pace and went to the top of the hill, looking outwards at the view. There was fire smoke, coming out of an abandoned-looking town, but it was obviously not abandoned because of the fire smoke comin out from one of houses' window. The only problem is...it seemed to be a bit farther than expected as down the hill, they're met by woods, trees and grass, and it stretched for a mile or two before openin up to the town in the middle of the empty space with woods surrounding it from every side. "Fenris, you predicted the future." She chuckled, bowing slightly as she glanced at him to add more effect to the sentence.

  • "A town with anything standing would be a good sight." Fenris muttered in reply with a small nod. The thought of a town with friendly people and any kind of warm place to stay for the night was a welcome one. Although he knew that even if such a place like that existed they might not be too keen on outsiders, then again he wouldn't either if he was in their situation. He hadn't even noticed the smoke until Selena had gone faster, moving up the hill like a woman on a mission. He of course quickly followed, only just now seeing the rising smoke. When he finally made it up the hill and gazed on the town he was suspicious at first, why wouldn't he be? He hadn't trusted those men before, and if they came from this town then he was admittedly a bit hesitant to go rushing into it. "Indeed, it looks like I did. Let's hope I was completely right this time, and not just half right." He stated as he made his way towards the town. There was only one way to go now after all.

  • Selena was going to say something but brushed it off when she saw Fenris already make his way towards the town, so she quickly caught up to him and walked with him towards town. It looked like the town was dead with nobody around from this view, but maybe it just looked like that because of the war. Her hopes were kind of up because of the town, and because she had somebody beside her now so she had somebody who got her back if needed, even though she hoped it isn't really needed, but she made sure not to get her hopes up of somewhere to stay the night because it might destroy her mood completely if she had high expectations, and when her mood is ruined, she just goes triggered for the rest of the day or more and would be more aggressive than usual. They soon reached the border that starts the mile or two far woods, sighing and keeping her hands on her gun that was in its pouch before entering it.

  • Fenris didn't like the look of the town from afar, but he hated it up close. Too many empty and abandoned houses, perfect places for an ambush. The lack of people certainly have the place an eerie feel as well, even though he felt like he was being watched also. He readied his rifle as he finally stepped into the town, glancing around cautiously. "We make our way to the smoke quietly and carefully, watch our backs." He whispered to Selena as the pair walked through the ruined town. Having someone by his side was comforting but his paranoia chased away any and all feelings like that; he could think about such things at a later date, now was the time for action. The smoke was still coming from the house, only a few blocks away now.

  • Selena nodded at his remark and readied her pistol, lifting it in front of her face so that it's obvious that she's armed and dangerous. She turned around so that she's facing the other way and watching everything warily. She was anxious and she would slightly flinch from any small sound and quickly aim her pistol at it, but not shoot though. She tried her best to calm down, but she was a bit too paranoid to calm down. "How far are we from the smoke now?" She asked after a while of staying in the same position and walking down a block or two in that way. All safe till now, no danger, may happen, but all safe till now, and she hoped it will continue this way..

  • Fenris was on edge the whole walk through the town, his eyes darting frequently to any places someone might be lurking. To be honest the town sort of reminded him when he was younger, when his only concern was himself and his parents. He hated reminders like that. "It's only another house away, I can't tell if there's any movement yet though. Also, no offense but you're doing the talking if people don't shoot first. You know how I am." He figured he might as well plan for the best case scenario along with the worst one, or atleast expect the best one. Although he was a realist at heart.

  • Selena chuckled silently at his remark, her mind flooding with thoughts of what could happen, but focusing again quickly because she couldn't afford losing focus..not now, not today.. she stumbled over a rock, shit! She staggered onto Fenris clumsily, before quickly regaining her balance, but she had dropped her pistol which made..quite a sound in this empty area. She quickly ran towards it, bent over and grabbed it, just in time to have somebody hold a shotgun to her head. "Move a muscle, and you're dead meat." He muttered behind a suit that looked similar to Fenris except it was jet black. Welp, that was enough sound to trigger people into coming out of their house, armed people that started surrounding both Selena and Fenris. She raised her hand as if submissive, pistol still in hand and slowly moved upwards from being bent over. She eyed Fenris and when she was sure she mad eye contact, she mouthed. "Don't. Shoot." Glaring at him because if he does shoot, it'll just kill both of them.

  • Fenris had jumped for a moment when Selena bumped into him, his eyes following her as she went to pick up her pistol. Apparently that one moment of his inattentive gaze had been enough to get ambushed. His first instinct had been to take aim and fire at the man with the shotgun, he even had a good angle, but the other people coming out of the houses immediately stopped that plan in its tracks. He caught Selena's eye and reluctantly nodding in confirmation of the advice. He hated being surrounded and helpless, but he knew when he was outmatched. That didn't stop him however from spinning around and keeping an eye on some of the people that had surrounded them, their weapons were the only thing keeping him from firing. "Someone better have a d*mn good reason for this." He muttered to himself as his aim shifted from person to person.

  • As Selena was backing away towards Fenris, somebody grabbed her wrist, she quickly turned around to see who it was...the man from the car, he had a stupid smirk on his face. "Well, look what we've got here." He muttered, snickering afterwards and Selena was silent, trying to block a gag and not wanting to attack him in case it provokes anything, but he passed the limit when he got too close to her and she sent a quick blow to his neck, making him leave her wrist then grabbing his arm, twisting it and putting it in a very uncomfortable position before a man held his rifle from a foot or two behind her and yelled "Leave him or I'll blow your brains and your friend's!" Selena pushed the man away and stepped back beside Fenris, her hair covering half of her face from the wind.

  • The moment Fenris saw the man he had to resist the urge to just end him right then and there, he knew he couldn't right now. Not now atleast, maybe sometime soon though. He did grin when he saw the hold Selena put the man in, he wouldn't be able to get out of it. Unfortunately one of the others had to step in of course. After a quick glance over her he glared at the man, who was rubbing his arm, and the other next to him. "Keep your friend on a sort leash and away from us. I even see him thinking about my friend, and I'll gut him with a rusty knife." Fenris warned, ignoring how the other people tightened their grips on their guns in response. "Now someone give us a reason to be here."

  • Selena had her arms still up on her pistol and two people slammed their guns into her hand that held the pistol and into Fenris' hand that held the rifle, making both of them drop them and before Selena or Fenris could get them back, they took them, looking at them. "Nice guns, we're keeping them." A man who held the gun snickered, causing the others to chuckle at that as he put Selena's pistol into his pocket and another person put Fenris' one into his pocket. She held the hand that got slammed with the gun in her other hand, it hurt but not that much. She smiled mentally when she remembered that they had hid their bags somewhere in the woods around this town so that they don't get stolen or anything. "Now, give us a reason not to blow your brains out." The person with the jet black suit like Fenris' talked. "We...um..came her because...um..." She...stuttered? She usually doesn't, what's happening now? She was anxiously looking around her before she got a grip over what to say, hoping it isn't bad. "We saw this town and came looking for shelter for the night." She said with perfect confidence and a smile on her face. A guy was looking her up and down from those people and she noticed and glared at him. Another decided to play with Fenris and had hit him in his side where he had the glass shard with a shotgun, laughing. She flinched slightly as she knew that he was hit in his injured side.

  • Fenris winced slightly when his hand was hit, rubbing it for a moment as he glared at the man who took his. Oh how he wanted to wipe those smug looks off their faces, but he knew he couldn't right now. There were too many of them and he was unarmed. When the man in the suit spoke Fenris didn't even listen until he glanced at Selena with concern. He hadn't ever really heard her stutter before, it threw him off for a moment honestly. He didn't even noticed the shotgun coming until it slammed into him, sending him to his knees in pain. He clutched the wound for a moment, curses spewing from his mouth as he looked up at the smirking man with the shotgun. Okay, now it was on. He pulled his knife from his suit and stabbed it through the man's knee, sending him to the ground screaming. However before Fenris could do anything else a quick kick caught him in the face, sending him on his back as a couple other people restrained him. "Not so tough now are you?" The man from that had grabbed Selena mused, a smug grin on his face as he watched Fenris struggle.
