  • This is a thread about a week-old, abandoned baby prey animal (like a bunny, or a lamb, or a fawn or something). They're found by the alpha female of a wolf pack, who, against all odds, takes them in to raise them as her own. While the wolves of the pack are teaching the baby how to be a wolf, some animals are okay with the idea of adopting a prey animal, while others are not. Tensions rise as the forest is split, with the pack all trying to survive in the middle, only you can decide where the story goes while you're running with the wolves.

The thread will start off a little bit before WiseSpirit finds Moonlight

  • The black and grey fawn shook as she attempted to walk through the brush of the forest. Moonlight desperately and continuously called out for her mother, but still, she remained alone. Exhausted, the week old fawn laid down in a soft patch of underbrush.

WinterWillow (Winter) and NightGazer(Gazer) remained asleep in their dens.

ShadowWisp(Shadow) stretched and yawned as she stepped out of her den. Sun was just starting to break the night sky as she looked up and sniffed the air.

  • WiseSpirit was up early today, wandering the woods. She thought she might find a light snack to bring to the rest of her pack. She waltzed around, sniffing around her.

  • Moonlight, still exhausted, desperately belted out a call for her mother. Quiet once again, she rested her head down in front of her bent legs. The fawn didn't understand what was going on, where was her mother? Why was she alone?

  • Legend~female~head warrior~mate: none

Legend sat in the camp, the weak rays of first light touching her pelt. She had been up for hours, like usual. She had seen Wisespirit leave and now found herself waiting for the rest of the pack to wake. She turned to the first to rise, "good morning Shadowwisp."

  • Legend~female~head warrior~mate: none

    image.php?id=2859295&size=large&format=auto&rev=1498094277

Legend smiled to the second female wolf. "Did you sleep well? I feel like each morning I hear complaints from the males about not getting enough sleep," she joked.

  • Shadow chuckled, "I slept just fine. I don't know what it is they're always complaining about. Dad always acts so stiff when he first gets up like he needs to stretch and pop some joints. I just think age takes more of a toll on the males than it does us."

  • TimberShade/ Alpha Male/ 4 years

TimberShade blinked open his eyes, adjusting them to the light. He could just make out the sun starting to rise above the horizon, telling him that it was early morning and few wolves would be awake. Shade rose to his paws, stretching the front ones as he did so and letting out a great yawn. "WiseSpirit?" He asked, looking around the den. Where are you at? Probably just going out for a morning stroll Shade decided. He sniffed the air, figuring out that she hadn't been gone for long and then headed outside.

    BlackMoon/ Healer/ 2 years

Blackmoon wasn't far from camp, searching for any sign of herbs that she could use. She sniffed the air, scenting for juniper berries in particular. The black she-wolf noticed the bush not far off and headed over to. She laid her leaf down, and gently placed juniper berries in it. She continued on her search for herbs, looking for parsley next.

    Ashstorm/ Warrior/ 6 years

Ash had been one of the first to awake, resting outside the warrior's den. Though he had been a part of the night patrol, he had not been able to sleep. It had been because of the daunting feeling that something bad was about to happen. He didn't know what or why, but he hoped he was wrong.

    Striker/ Rogue/ 4 years

Striker made his home in a cave, just outside the border of the pack's territory. The cave was big and dark, just the way he liked it. But the best part? It was outside the part of the border that the wolves never went, they didn't dare approach the great cave in fear of what could lay inside it.

OOC: I know it's not a rule, but could we try to avoid one/two liners? especially with the first post, it shouldn't be too hard to create longer posts. Also, who wants to be Flame's mentor?

  • I'm Divergent oh sorry I was just on low Muse.

WiseSpirit's ears twitched as she heard a small bleat. She sniffed the air, searching for it. Not only was she now hungry, but curious to what the source could be. The shewolf dashed off, her coat flowing in the wind. She finally stopped when she saw something in an under bush. It was a baby deer. A fawn. Not just any fawn, but one who's coat was as silver as the moonlight. WiseSpirit's stomach growled, as she stared at it, then back to the fawn. She could kill it. It would easily make for a small snack. One for her and her pack. But, she just couldn't do it. There was something about this fawn. It looked so scared and alone, which was odd considering that deer were herd animals and that this baby deer looked about a week old. WiseSpirit crouched down slowly, and investigated further by sniffing the young creature's face.

  • Moonlight jerked a little when she felt and heard a strange noise close to her. Opening her eyes, a blurry figure came into view and focused on it. The creature was... Different. Not like her, or her parents. Fluffier. Moonlight lifted her nose to sniff the creature back and belted out a call again.

  • WiseSpirit jolted a bit at the baby's yelp. I'm not sure if she can talk or not, but hopefully she can understand words. The alpha thought to herself. "Hello child," she said softly and calmly. "It's okay. I won't hurt you."

  • Moonlight sniffed at the creature once more before shaking her head, ears flopping side to side. She looked back up at the thing and blinked. She didn't exactly understand words just yet, but she could understand what they meant through the tone of the voice.

Safe. She thought at the words. Giving a small huff, she laid her head down again.

  • WiseSpirit looked around and sniffed the fawn another time. She appeared to be abandoned, with no parents in sight. "Do you have a home, little one?" She asked, trying to get the fawn in a more comfortable situation.

  • Moonlight sighed, lifting her head to look around. In response to the creature, she belted out again, a call for her mother. Her mother didn't come, of course, and the fawn laid her head down again. This time, the baby deer was feeling sad that her mother hadn't come for her, and tears began to silently trail down her face.

(( I'm Divergent sorry, I'm on mobile most of the time so when typing on there versus on the computer, the sentence count comes up differently.))

  • WiseSpirit's ears flattened and her tail tucked between her legs. She felt sorry for this poor baby deer. She started to shush the baby. "It's okay. Calm down. I'm sorry," She reassured, trying to calm them down. Her eyes widened as she got a crazy idea. She knew the other wolves wouldn't agree, but she couldn't help it. She couldn't leave this poor child alone and defenseless. WiseSpirit stifled a smile. "I'm sorry about what has happened to you, but I can't leave you here alone. So please, come with me. I'll take care of you. I promise."

  • Moonlight lifted her head again and stared at the other creature. She tilted her head as if confused and belted out. The noise almost sounded like a question. She wasn't sure what the other being wanted, but it didn't look like it was leaving her, st least she wasn't alone anymore. She was happy for that.

  • WiseSpirit stood up and paced around. She didn't want to leave her pack hanging and she didn't want this deer to just be huddling underneath a bush. The only problem right now was that she wasn't sure if the fawn felt comfortable, or trustworthy enough to follow Spirit. It was worth a try, though. "Young one, if you want to stay with me, you're going to have to follow me right now to my, I mean, our home." She said, trying to calm the deer into submission.

  • Home. That was a word Moonlight did recognize. At the sound of the word, the fawn stood on shaky legs. Steadying herself, she took a couple of hesitant steps before a sudden burst of energy had her jumping and kicking. Shaking out her fur, she turned to the fluffier creature and walked over, one step at a time.

Vermilion yawned as he watched the herd of deer before him. there were plenty of fattened doe's to Pick from thier babies off hidden in the forest and he had no doubt many of the females were come mothering. There was also the fact that when a mother died it wasn't uncommon for another to pick up her fawn. His head turned when he heard his sister moving up whispering to his ear. "There is a darker female towards the herds side, clearily fawn-less and injured a broken ankle."

His Autumn eyes that most found scary or intimidating slowily blinked back to the herd locating the target with ease. "what do you think Fae?" His eyes never left the limping doe he knew the cougar was watching having accepted her presence as a form of infatuation since the day she walked into the camp just to say hello. Bout gave the mothers a heart attack, but still shes a good kitty. Doesn't ask for much beyond the company, and he personally didn't mind her.

Slowily the sleek brown cougar moved forward her blue eyes glancing at him and then the doe they were watching. "That is the best target... Her injury wont heal right and she will be lamed for the rest of her life, if she does carry she will be in pain the moment the fawn gets heavy and will become a target for the less merciful predators. In the end it would be both her life and that of a fawns." Her eyes turned back onto him feeling a shiver at the smile on his muzzle one she knew meant he was pleased at her answer.

Grinning he looked to the two females. "Well lets get to work I'll stay point drive her away, and you ladies split the herd. Fae I'll leave the drag down to you." The pair nodded flying out at the same time Vermilion had He kept behind the doe driving her forward keeping just close enough to force her into the direction he wanted. Kitten came up his right side and darted forward sending off the doe's to the right while Fae forced those on the left to run faster than thier wounded friend. The bay of the female's was deafening warning all the other prey that they were there meaning it was this hit or nothing. The second the herd was off and Vermilion had run her to a open feild Fae struck. the large cat raced forward while the white male dropped back Her powerful but lean muscles rippled as she launched up her perfectly curved claws digging in with ease dragging her to the ground causing it to roll over her. The moment the does soft neck was exposed Kitten latched on severing the artery soon followed by Vermilion who used his weight to keep the doe down. He looked over At Fea who was already back to her paws smiling. "Your not hurt are you?" It didn't take long for the doe to stop moving about at which point he got up and moved towards her.

"No I am good! Take or than that to hurt a cat." Smiling she moved towards him sitting off to the side. She knew the rules and obeyed them decently setting off to the side while the pair raised their head and released a melodious howl that they had food calling the alphas and pack members to come eat. Fae wore a smile on her muzzle at hearing thier beautiful calls sighing softly. Unfortunately the vocals she made were either painful to the ear, threatening, or simply not accepted by wolves.
