  • This..... is boring. That was what Rabbit thought, felt, and was right now, as she was 'relaxing' in camp. Her shoulder, wrecked by the recent fight with Bloodclan, was wrapped up with the order to 'stay in camp until it heales up!' Using her good arm she batted around a shiny pebble, trying to relieve her boredom. She was used to always doing something, and even as she adapted to clan life she was always out on a patrol or hunting on her own.

  • Puddlepaw, a recent addition to the clan, waltzed proudly out of the apprentices den, casting a curious glance around the camp. It was looking pretty sparse at the moment, which quickly reminded her just how much she had overslept. Her whiskers twitched and began to sag with embarrassment. Well, it had been an exhausting past few days for her, both emotionally and physically. "Better to start late than never, I suppose." She muttered under her breath, placing her paws forward and then arching her back in a big luxurious stretch. When she came back up, she noticed a movement in the corner of her green eyes. Her ears perked as she paused there for a moment, studying the warrior she had never met before. Oh, there was another warrior being just as leisurely... that seemed a bit strange but, made her feel better about herself at least. Hoping to start on good terms with all her new clan-mates, she decided to wander over and introduce herself. It wasn't until she was in approach that she noticed something about the warrior's shoulder, and themselves, seemed a bit off. Her paws bounced quietly over with her. "H-hello, I'm puddlepaw. A new apprentice." She started out, her signature shy showing. The mottled grey she-cat smiled up at the warrior nonetheless, finally recognizing the emotion that was emanating off of her. Boredom?

  • Perking up at the sight of another clanmate in the camp besides herselc, the former loner recognised the loner as one of the newest editions. It served to remind Rabbit just how much time had passed since she first came here. "I'm Rabbit. Not much of a name, but it describes me perfectly." And it did, from her long back legs to her quick reflexes, even her stubby white tail was reminiscent of a rabbit's.

  • "Rabbit." Her bright eyes squinted slightly at the older cat's response like a smile and her thin white whiskers slowly lifted. "I like it. Seems like a good fit for you." She wholeheartedly agreed with an admiring glance towards the she-cats tail. The warrior's friendly connection and unique build would surely make her a permanent clan figure in Puddlepaws mind from now on. The young cat settled down, feeling welcomed in Rabbit's presence, and gently dipped her head as a polite sign of 'its nice to meet you.' Hunger started to peck at her stomach and Puddlepaw inwardly wondered if Rabbit had eaten yet. "You're not going out hunting or on patrol today?" She guessed as she flicked her green orbs up at the warrior, her tail rapping against the ground behind her and, unbeknownst to her, stirring up a bit of dust. Thankfully there was no other cats around or passing by at the moment.

  • "Thank you," meowed Rabbit. It's also the only thing I remember from my past life. Briefly thinking about the memories she lost, amd that caused her to travel far and wide for so long to search for, the former loner took a moment to collect her thoughts. "Oh, trust me I would love to be out there right now but Cederstripe decided that my shoulder needed time to heal."

  • "Awh, I hope it heals soon." Puddlepaw muttered in response, eyeing the warrior's expressions before an idea she had caused her eyes to lighten and her throat to rumble with a subtle purr. Her shoulders pulled upright and she lifted one paw off the ground as she asked, "Hey, Rabbit? If I bring some freshkill for you, would- would you tell me some stories, or tips for fighting? Anything you got." The apprentice burst, it seemed. But then quickly toned down her excitement with a sheepish smile, glancing sideways as she put her paw back down. "I- If you want to." As eager to learn everything as she was, the grey she-cat still got moments of doubt from remembering her previous mentor who scolded her for the littlest things. And she simply had to remember to be polite here. She didn't know every feline that well yet.

  • Rabbt had never really told stories before, but she found herself wanting to share tales of her travels before shw came here. "Catch me a rabbit and we'll both eat while I'll talk," she purred, happy at the prospect of spending time with her new clanmate.

  • Puddlepaw's body started to wiggle along with her tail at the warrior's response. She couldn't hide her joy. "You will? Okay, I'll- thanks, Rabbit!" She rose to her full height and felt her claws into the dirt eagerly. She was confident that she could pick up a rabbit, one of the trickiest preys, for both of them with no problem. "I'll be back before you can lay your head down to rest!" With a purr and a gentle nose touch to her new friend, she spun on her paws and then tore off out the front of the camp.

Once she was in the tall grass that was thriving around so much of their territory, Puddlepaw straightened up her form and stalked belly low to the ground. She stopped and tasted the air, waiting until she found the first sign of prey. Wind stroked past the tops of the grass. A few mice and crickets scurried around, but Puddlepaw remained focused. She passed up everything but the prey that she wanted, being patient.

  • Giving a chunkle as the apprentice shot off, Rabbit found herself appreciating the company of the clan. As a loner she was used to always being alone, having no one to take care of and no one to take care of her. Thinking back, she found that perhaps some of her boredom today was the lack of friends she had made in the clan so far. Jaspereyes was usually no where around, and she barely knew Asterstar. She knew Lightningtooth was usually around, yet she tended to isolate herself from the more energetic members.

  • Puddlepaw had remained crouched for so long that she almost jumped out of anticipation when a certain unsuspecting creature bounded out from it's den somewhere. She slowly lifted her eyes so she could see just through the stalks of grass where the rabbit was moving. I got you... She inched her hind paws into position so she could spring. But then something snapped and as the she-cat predicted, the rabbit took off running. So did Puddlepaw in a heartbeat. I'm not losing this chance! She didn't want to be hunting until sundown, after all. Her paws dropped onto the ground and she bolted through the grass at top speed, following the tiny tail across the fields.

    Much later...

"*heave*... *heave*... Rrrmbbt?" The apprentice appeared at the camp, lifting her head to look for the warrior with a lifeless body hanging from her mouth. She entered at a snails pace. Her pads were sore, but she felt victorious. She had eventually run the rabbit- and herself- out of breath and caught it. Not bad for an apprentice whos been without a mentor for a while, she thought. The rabbit she had was decent sized, but on the skinny side. Puddlepaw had probably ran it a few ounces lighter from all the running.

  • The orange bobtail was surprised- and worried- for how breathless the apprentice looked. "Oh wow, you okay?" Getting up, she padded over to help with carrying the rabbit. She would have made a comment asking what took so long, but she felt her concern would be read off as annoyance so she kept her mouth shut.

  • When the apprentice had the rabbit out of her jaws, and she caught some of her breath back, she gave a reassuring mew. "Of course, thanks. Just a little... um, winded." Her sides expanded and fell fast, but she looked like she still had the same burning drive as when she tore off at the start. "The rabbit just got away from me." Puddlepaw knew that it was obvious from her tardy return, so it didn't hurt to admit. She would have even laughed at herself if she had the breath.

Puddlepaw sat proudly before Rabbit and nudged her freshkill closer to her, letting her eat first and as much as she pleased. She tucked her tail respectfully and beamed, "I just gotta say. If you run like they do," She nodded at the freshly caught rabbit, "I definitely want to learn a thing or two from you."

    .: cool picture :3 :.

  • Giving a chuckle at the comparision, the apprentice wasnt far from the truth. Indeed, when going at faster speeds her stride turned into a rabbit's as she found it easier with her lack of a tail. True, even among the Windclanners she was still one of the fastest cats due to this, but still! It's a bit degrading to be so much like the prey they survive off of... Taking a bit after a quick silent pray to her fellow rabbit, she dug in, ripping off a good bit of meat and pushing the rest to the apprentice to take a bit out of next.

  • Puddlepaw humbly mewed in thanks before she leaned her head down, biting and chewing up the parts of the rabbit that were given to her. Her tongue licked up to clean around her muzzle and a surprisingly deep purr emanated from her sleek body. It was the first time she had eaten a rabbit from Windclan territory. Not bad at all... It almost tastes better, she thought. Her eyes escaped from her meal to glance at Rabbit, the warrior who was sharing it with her. As mousey (cheesy) as it sounded, maybe it was the pleasant company that made it better. She slowly squeezed her eyelids together, silently thanking Starclan she had the wonderful new Clan and clanmates who were there to share moments like this and protect each other.

  • After a moment of silence, and with some warm food in her belly, Rabbit figured she should pick a story to tell. "Hm... as far as stories go, I have a few that I can remember. There's a couple about the Earthen Storms that came here not too long ago... Though I also had an interesting time with my first one out beyond the borders. There's the time where I first met a Bloodclan cat, a friendly group of traveling she-cats...."

  • Puddlepaw licked one of her paws and then gave a quick sweep over the top of her muzzle with it, making sure she was all clean. Her belly was satisfied and her ears were ready to take in whatever Rabbit fed them. The apprentice settled down next to the warrior and tucked her limbs comfortably underneath her until she was in the 'loaf' position, giving Rabbit full attention. Her eyes widened as heard various stories she had to tell. Even though they were few, Puddlepaw felt like she hit the jackpot. "You've crossed the borders and been through storms, and met some outsider cats?" She mewed with a hint of awe. "Which one are you gonna tell, Rabbit?"

  • "To me?" Puddlepaw flicked the tip of her tail anxiously, trying to decide which one she wanted to hear first. "Well... alright, how about when you first went beyond the borders? What was it like there?" She finally meowed. The apprentice still half certain. Somehow, she wanted to know all the stories at once, but that wasn't possible. Hopefully she picked the best one for starters.

  • "It wasn't so much as a first as it where I always was." Though that may be untrue, considering my loss of memories. "I wasn't born to Windclan you see. My whole life was as a loner, traveling from one place to another alone. Though I cant complain- it was my choice to travel alone. Sometimes I would travel with others if we were going to the same place, but I usually I was on my own. In fact, did you know that there is a tribe of cats in some mountains not too far away from here? I met a few when they came down the mountain last leafbare."

  • Puddlepaw perked her ears as she got to know the surprising fact about the warrior. In retrospect, it wasn't all that shocking, but for the young feline there was much left to wonder of her new clanmate's history. Perhaps what mostly caught her attention was that Rabbit didn't come from the clan originally, like Puddlepaw, yet she seemed just such a part of it. That was what she wanted to be here, Puddlepaw thought in her heart before putting her full concentration into the furthering of the story. She shook her head at the question, her eyes never leaving Rabbit it seemed. "Wow, I hope to meet some mountain cats someday." She had never paid much attention to the mountains in the distance. "What were they coming down this way to do?"
