  • The silence dragged on, and Cole found his thoughts drifting, drifting to things he would rather not think about but which were always there, simmering away in the background just waiting for their chance to boil over into the forefront of his mind. He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to allow himself to totally relax, but that only created a dark blank canvas for the memories. His grey eyes flickered open once more, and he shifted uncomfortably.

    "So how long have you guys been staying here?" He questioned, trying to distract himself, "Did you all get here at the same time, or what?"

  • Oliver shrugged "Some of us have been here longer than others. I've been here since I was 13." he said. It was hard to believe how long he had been here, and how long ago they had escaped.

    (Idk how long this Haven has existed and has been in ownership of the Shifters, I'm just sort of guessing an winging it so tell me if I'm wrong)

  • ooc: I've no idea either- that was probably a bad question for me to have him ask XD We can always just go along with it just now until we're corrected ^^

    Ic: "Really? Thirteen? You didn't have any family left to stay with?" To Cole's final question, he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Most shifters had lost their families in the feuds with humans, be it through deaths or simply getting split up. He himself had been separated from his mother when he was only eight, and had been travelling almost constantly with his father and older sister until his father went out to do a daily patrol one day when he was fourteen. He never came back. After that, it was just himself and his sister... up until recently, at least.

  • (Haha yeah that's fine. For now I'm just rolling with it)

    Oliver's blue eyes immediately darkened. "No. Unfortunately not related at the moment" he said stiffly. Family was a bit of a sore spot. Many had lost others. As a shifter, death wasn't a complete surprise. It was always devastating, much more for the ones close to the victim, but most knew that they would experience others death, and wventually theirs at some point. But he smiled slightly "I do have everyone here at the manor though. That's the closest to family I have"

  • OOC :: The manor has been run by the shifters for the past ten years. Before that Reese would just help others along the way and a group started to form.

    Mallory listened to the others and then spoke up to Cole when Oliver finished. "Despite most of us not having any blood family left, the family we have made here is just as strong and close. I've been with Reese since I could remember. She found me in the warzone to the north when I was... ummm.. 5 maybe. She's been my guardian/big sister. But along at the way by fate all of our paths have crossed, and despite our we all have our differences we've stuck together", Mallory paused to take another sip of wine. "Heck I love all you guys, definitely wouldn't want any other family", saying this made Mallory get all excited and she grabbed those next to her and gave them all firm loving squeezes. and to those further away she touched them with her toes. Anyone could see that despite her drunkeness she was serious about caring about all of them. "Cole if you decide to stay and we can figure out how to handle your sarcasm and unfiltered mouth, you wont regret choosing us to be your family", she added looking at Cole before drinking some more.

  • Cole could tell he had hit a sore spot in terms of family, but that shouldn't have been at all surprising. In these times, maintaining a whole happy family was pretty unusual. He was glad that he didn't have to reply to that sad comment, as Oliver had gone on, with Mallory following close behind, to make it a little cheerier. When she went on to welcome him into their 'family' should he stay, he couldn't quite surpress the twitch of a smile.

    "Hey, I'll have you know, everyone ends up loving my personality eventually," He said in mock offence, then paused and added with a grin and a shrug, "Well, that's kinda debatable actually, but I'm not that bad."

    To be honest, he was a little jealous of how close they all were. He had never felt that close with anyone in a long time, and he knew deep down that he would never share the same connection here as those guys did. They had known each other for years and years, it seemed, while he had only arrived that very day.

    "You know, of all the places to come across, I never thought I'd be taken in by a group of shifters who own a huge mansion and a pool. How did you guys even find this place?"

  • "Well", Mallory started in reply knowing a lot about their history due to her being apart of the group all her life. "In the war Reese and some in her group joined up with the Resistance and after the treaty was made this rich human refused to leave this mansion and they sent Reese's group to drive him out. As a reward for driving out the humans here the leader of the Resistance offered Reese the position of Commander and said she and her shifters could take up residence here as long as we would help keep the humans from crossing the border here." Taking another drink she took a second to find her train of thought again before continuing. "So ever since we've been here and have doing our best to keep out the humans and build a life for ourselves, which despite the occasional disturbance I think we are doing quite well", she ended nodding.

    Kahn looked at the girls knee and quickly found the problem. (Just gonna make up a solution cause I'm not sure whats wrong with it. Hope thats okay.) "You must have twisted your knew at some point and one of your tendons snapped to the wrong side of your leg. I'm going to move it back but it will hurt and I will have to twist you leg to get it to go where I want it", he said giving it to her straight. "You ready?", he asked wanting her to prepare herself before he did anything.

  • Annaly nodded. "Get ahead." She said preparing herself. She knew it was going to hurt. Jaxs stood back and watched Khan as he helped Annaly.

    Rani left the pool room and into the kitchen to get another bottle of water. Once she was in the kitchen, she saw Khan and Reese.

  • "Well you chose the right house to seize- this place is amazing. The en suite alone in the room you gave me is bigger than any room I've ever lived in." Cole replied, taking a long look around the room they were in in appreciation and adoration. It was nice to get to relax like this, but it was just so different to anything he was used to.

  • Oliver nodded in agreement "It is rather luxurious." He said appreciatively. "The pool is a nice asset, wouldn't you guys say so?" He said looking around the room.

    Vivianne held her breath for Annaly. She knew this wasn't going to be a pleasant experience for her. She just hoped she'd be ok in the end, and that she healed well enough soon.

  • "'The pool is a nice asset'," Cole repeated, thinking on how ridiculous it all sounded to him, "I never thought I'd hear someone say that about a house I might end up living in. But yeah, it's a f***ing great asset, if you ask me. I could live in this room."

  • Oliver||Male||Shifter||Snow Leopard

    Oliver sighed "Well, that's one way to put it." He said. "But I mean, no one's stopping you from from living in here, so you do you."

    Vivianne||Female||Shifter||Red Fox

    Vivianne held her breath for Annaly. She knew this wasn't going to be a pleasant experience for her. She just hoped she'd be ok in the end, and that she healed well enough soon.

    (Sorry, low muse)

  • ooc: Yeah, same- I've gone from several paragraphs to two lines XD I'm just so tired rn, I need some sleep I say, with no intention of doing that.

    Ic: "Yeah... it was more of a metaphor- if that's even the right term- but I'd be up for that," Cole drawled, sitting back in the pool, "All I'd need is a barbecue... Anyway, so uh, is this everyone? Where's those other guys- Reese and Kahn? Are they away out somewhere, or did they just not feel in the partying spirit?"

  • (Haha same, I feel bad)

    Oliver||Male||Shifter||Snow Leopard

    "Reese and a few others went on patrol, they should be back by now. If they found an escaped shifter, they should be getting them settled." Oliver answered.

    Vivianne||Female||Shifter||Red Fox

    (Above)

  • ooc: OK, I give up, I'm going to bed. My eyes are shutting on me. See you guys later ^^

    Ic: "Another patrol?" Cole questioned, a keen interest suddenly brightening his eyes, "Like the one where they freed me and those others?" As soon as he said it, however, he knew that couldn't be right. A heist like that must have taken weeks of planning and a large group of shifters, while most of them appeared to be here in the pool drinking wine and having a laugh.

    "Or are they just picking up more stragglers, like me?" That sounded more reasonable an explanation.
