    Its been a long time since the world was beautiful. Not just the beauty that you would see but the beauty that you would hear. The once blue sky has darkened to grey and there is a constant smog so thick that the sunlight never breaks through. The vibrant green of the vegetation and foliage has all but withered away and died. The beautiful sounds of laughter and birds singing into the air hasn't been heard for decades. All of this ugliness surrounds the humans and they fight about how terrible it is, yet they were the ones who made it this way. The darkness of mans heart has finally darkened the world with hatred, misery and war.

    The Plot

    A group of shifters has taken up residence in an old abandoned manor that is not that far from the border. This group of shifters is in charge of the border patrol for this location. Occasionally there is the border skirmish. And on the rare occasion a group of scientists will cross over to abduct shifters to reenlist them into the humans service. Reese, the leader of this safe haven, has taken in all those in need and has built up a force of her own. So feel free to join her because everyone knows its just safer to stick together. The world still isnt quite safe for a shifter to be alone.

    The Haven was barley touched by the war due to it being owned by a high ranking human. When the treaty was signed the owner refused to leave and shifters has to take it by force. There is slight damage but the majority of it has been patched up. The grounds around Haven include forested areas and pasture land that cattle still reside in. A ten minute walk out the back door of the manor you will find yourself in the grove, which includes lots overgrown vegetation and a fairly large pond. To the right of the manor is the large garden that helps support the residents who live there.

    Roleplay Rules

    - Be active and literate, as much as you can.

    - Don't make mary-sues. Don't powerplay, godmod, spotlight, or do any of that other obnoxious stuff people do. Play fair.

    - Be nice to people out of character. In character, you can be as rude as you want, but please don't cause needless drama just for the sake of causing drama. If it doesn't push forward a plot or add to character development, it's probably needless.

    - Keep your characters realistic. This includes appearance and behavior. Please make your humans for realistic, and the animal for realistic as well. Just cause they might have dyed their hair as a human it does not affect their animal appearance. No odd colored eyes. Example, pink or purple. In behavior, try to keep them consistent, and make their reactions to things believable and consistent with their personality and experiences.

    - You must create an even gender of characters, so that things stay even and it makes it easier for everyone to find a mate.

    - If you know you wont be active for more than two days please be sure to inform me through PM or post it in OOC on the thread.

    - A shifter can change on demand to the extent of its liking.

    - Have Fun!!!

    Current Season

    End of Winter

  • Reese paced back and forth from within the main hall. Her short usually well kept dark brown hair was messy and grungy, and her clothes were filthy with dirt and even torn is a couple of places. Despite her body aching from multiple bruises and scrapes as well as being overly exhausted Reese continued to move back and forth waiting for the news.

    Two days ago she led a patrol with Mallory and Eric to check the border to make sure that the humans weren't trying to cross over the border to abduct any shifters for experimentation. A patrol that usually takes about three hours turned into two days. As they were finishing up and about to head back to the manor, the patrol came across humans dragging back a shifter child into the humans territory. Of course they intervened but they were unable to save the kid. Backing off they then stalked the humans into their territory and waited for the prime opportunity to save him. Well long story short they had to wait until morning to go and rescue him and while they were in there they were able to release a couple of other shifters and in the process of getting away Eric was fatally wounded. Reese and Mallory were able to carry him back to the manor for Kahn to try and save him. Which brings us to now.

    Suddenly the medical door opened and Reese quickly turned around to see who it was. Kahn stood there with Mallory right behind him, their eyes grim and their heads hanging. Reese's heart broke as Kahn shook his head from side to side. "I'm so sorry Reese, I tried everything I could." Tears rolled down Reese's face and she started to crumple to the ground.

    Mallory rushed forwards and took hold of her, "I got her. I think you should go Cecily the news. The house needs to be informed", the blonde said softly as she looked up at Kahn. When he nodded she turned back to Reese and quickly walked Reese to her room so no one would see her in such a broken state after loosing her lover.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Kahn turned away and took a deep breath. He had only had some medical training and only wished he knew more so he could have possibly saved Eric. Walking towards where he believed Cecily to be. He had to tell the general, with Reese being in the state shes in the house would look for Cecily to take command until Reese gathered herself.
  • Cecily hasn't been too aware of Eric situation she had only known he had been wounded upon return. The Lifer shifter had her hair up right in a ponytail. She had been trying to destract herself from the sutautiob as long as she could knowing full well it would be reported back to her one way or another being the general she had to know certain situations. She sat next to one of the soldiers,Calla, as they had spoken about some recent events. Though when Cecily amber gaze fell upon Khan she sent Calla away and looked to the medic of sorts"How had Eric wounds doing?"She asked a bit hesitant only hoping he was alright.
    Calla after being sent off went off down to find someone else to speak to. The silver fox was quiet.
  • Kahn was hesitant but didn't withhold the news. "He didn't make it. He was shot multiple times and one went into his chest cavity and lodged itself into his spine. There was nothing I could do", with that said the bear shifter crumpled down sitting next to Cecily. Putting his elbows on his knees and hands to his face he took a moment. Eric was a dear friend of Kahns and it hurt him that he couldn't save his friend. Taking a deep breath he turned his head and revealed his face to her to see how the general was taking the harsh news.
  • Cecily was quiet for a moment taking in the news the female hadnt been that close to Eric but she knew him all the same. Years brimmed her eyes but she had to push her sadness back. She knew or figures that Reese couldn't be featuring to well at that moment which left her in charge at least til Reese was able to take command again. She looked to Kahn and comforted him as best she could even if comforting another was something foreign to the Lifer Shifter .Wiping her eyes she said"In sure you did what you could let us hope that he rests in peace now happy wherever he is now"She said."how is Reese fairing I'm sure this news has hurt her"She said worried for their leader and commander.
  • "They were very close", Kahn replied gathering himself together mentally before standing up. "The best thing for her would be to have closure. I must go prepare his body, if you don't mind taking care of having someone get a grave. We can have a quick ceremony tonight. Reese would want to get it all over as soon as possible, you know how she is. She moves on fast... but never forgets." With that said he started to walk away, "I'll be only about five minutes and then I can help you out if you want", Kahn said looking back at her with a kind smile.
    Mallory had comforted Reese but the panther shifter insisted on being alone and leaving her self-adopted sister the cheetah shifter left the Commanders quarters and decided to to see if she could help out anywhere. On her way back to find Kahn or even Cecily she ran into Calla, "Hey foxy lady", she said trying to lighten up the situation and make herself feel better.
  • "yeah I am sure"Cecily replied standing slowly looking around with amber eyes she have a brisk now"I'll get right on that"she said and turned walking off to find anyone to dog the grave.
    Calla stopped short the fox shifter looked to the cheetah shifter."oh hi hows it going?"She asked.
    Rani Fue|Female|18|Aromatic Heterosexual|Siberian Husky
    Rani sat outside of the manor looking up at the sky, unaware of anything that had happened. She loved watching clouds, but she loved having other people outside with her. After a few minutes, she let out a sigh and stood up and walked towards the front door to the manor. She was in a pretty good mood for the moment, since she the last couple of weeks it has been rare for her to be angry at anything.
  • Oliver sat quietly in the corner of an empty room in the manor. The chair which he sat on was old and brittle, it's feeble legs creaking precariously as he pondered in deep thought. His eyes were blank, as if he were staring off into nothingness, his fingers tapping slowly on the armrests, he was in a seemingly unbreakable trance.
  • Avery was sitting in the lounge of the manor, lazily tracing circles on the back of their hand as they sat with a blanket wrapped around their shoulders in an attempt to fight off the chill that still clung to the air.
    Dylan was walking down to the kitchen with slow steps as he sensed something was off, everything was too quiet.
    //low muse
  • Heather sat on the kitchen floor, quietly picking the meat off of a cold drumstick and sticking it in her mouth. She was slightly startled by Dylan's entrance into the kitchen. "Oh, hey Dylan," she mumbled after swallowing what was in her mouth. "Is everything okay?" Her hands fell into her lap, still holding the drumstick but not paying all that much attention to it.
    Zak walked out of the front door, nearly bumping into Rani. "Whoa, where did you come from?" he laughed half-heartedly. ((Low muse/ I really didn't know how to bring in my peeps)
  • Dylan looked down at Heather, shrugging in reply to her question, "I dunno, something seems... off," he said, walking over to the fridge and fishing out a tub of fried rice he had left in there a few days ago. He cracked the tub open and set it in the microwave.
  • Heather nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's a lot more quiet than usual, and there's not as much activity. Or so it seems," she replied. After getting up, she walked over to the garbage can and threw out the remnants of the drumstick. "When you're done heating that up, do you wanna take a stroll and see if anyone's heard anything?"
  • Heather walked out of the kitchen and to their left. She poked her head in a few doors to see if anyone was in any of those rooms, but they were all empty at the time. "This is so strange," she whispered as she walked towards the front door. She saw Zak and Rani standing outside and stuck her head out the door. "Either of you guys know what's going on?" She asked.
    "No, why?" Zak questioned.
    "Because it's a lot quieter than usual. Something's off," Heather answered. He shrugged and turned back to Rani while Heather turned to Dylan. "Any ideas?" she asked Dylan.
  • "Maybe ask Reese? If something is wrong, she'll know about it, and if she doesn't I'm pretty sure she'll appreciate being told somethings off," Dylan offered once he finished another mouthful, sparing a moment to look up at the sky.
  • Vivianne poked her head out of the door, her body soon following. "What's going on?" She inquired the gathering group on the front porch. The sky was bright blue with smears of fluffy white clouds, with a slight chilly breeze reminding you that it was still, in fact, winter.
  • A cold wind bit deep into the shadowy figure, who lurked beneath he trees to the front of the building, its icy claws piercing through his clothing to chill him to the bone. His choice of clothing wasn't exactly much suited to the time of the year- he wore only ripped black jeans, a white t-shirt under a roughly beaten black leather jacket, his boots being the only decent clothing for such weather- but it wasn't as if he had much of a choice. At least it was better than being in his other form; having the ability to change at will into one of the world's deadliest snakes did have its perks, but unfortunately that didn't hold sway when it was freezing cold. If he changed into the coldblooded reptile now, he wouldn't merely be freezing his @ss off like he was in human form, he would be dead within only a short while.
    So, there he stood, arms wrapped tightly around himself and shoulders hunched as he huddled against the cold, watching the group of people who were gradually appearing on the front porch to the house which he knew some shifters to have disappeared into- specifically, the ones who had freed him and a few others from the captivity of the humans. At the time, he had been more intent on getting the hell out of there. However, just before the shifters had completely vanished from sight, he saw the sense in following them.
    Firstly, they had saved his bacon from whatever meat grinder the humans had planned, and therefore he realised that trusting them at least a little was probably a good idea, and if they had helped him once they probably would again. Second, he had no idea where else he could go; he didn't even know where he was in the first place, so there was no way of finding his way home. He figured that the best option, rather than having his snot turn to icicles and eventually freezing to death, was to follow them to the safety of wherever they were running away to- as, he assumed, they actually had some place safe to go to...
    So why was he still standing there like some creepy idiot? Well, honestly, he didn't trust them- not entirely. He wanted to watch just a little longer, see if anything suspicious was up.
    And, possibly, attempt to steal a nice warm fuzzy parka.
  • Mallory found herself walking with Calla, the cheetah shifter had to spread the news of Erics death. The people of the house had become close like a family of sorts and they deserved to know that one of their own had fallen. Coming up to Dylan, Heather, and Vivianne she motioned with her hands for them to come to her. She could tell they were clueless on what was happening but knew something was off. "Eric didn't make it.... the humans, they uh had captured a bunch of shifters and our patrol went to rescue them. We managed to release a bunch of people but as we were all escaping he got shot.." By the time she finished she had a couple tears rolling down her cheeks. However she maintained her composure, she had to stay strong, its what Eric would have wanted.
    Kahn had taken a little bit longer to prep Erics body for burial thathe thought, but when he was done a went to find Cecily. "Sorry it took me so long to catch up with you... I want him to look at peace", the bear shifter said giving his reason for taking so long. "He's ready now. We should have his burial soon, the sun is starting to set", he added after catching a glance of the setting sun in the window to his left.
    Reese felt so fragile as she sat on the floor leaning up against her bed. How could Eric be gone? She never thought that this would happen, especially to him. Thinking of the strong harpy eagle shifter she felt her heart break just a little bit more. She thought of what he would say to her to comfort her and she knew that that he would tell her to take a moment to let it all out and then stand up, shake it off and be strong for the good of our people. So had already let it all out and so it was time for her to stand up, shake it off, and be strong. Despite her legs feeling weak she pulled herself to her feet and stood. Running her fingers through he grungy hair she realized how dirty she was. She then undressed and jumped into her shower. After she finished she pulled on some her nicest pair of black jeans and a nice thick white fur shirt along with her nicest black leather jacket. Pulling on her boots and walked to the door and put her hand on the handle. She hesitated. Could she do this? Could she be strong and keep it together? Whether she could or not she just simply had to. She was their leader and she needed to be strong for them at least. Opening the door she walked out and made her way down to the front where people usually gathered at.
