  • "Hey! Now my whiskers are droopy... Gross." She pawed at her whiskers like there was a fly before giving a big, mischievous grin. "I'm gonna get you back!" The girl announced, slapping her wet tail on the water so it created a wave. The wave stopped midway and splashed him.

There was that noise again. This time it was closer.

The mewling grew louder, and she gave a nonexistent eyebrow raise at that. "Hold on. I'm gonna go check this out." She said, going out another small hole. "Oh. Oh!" Amber brought back a sopping wet newborn fox kit. "This little one wandered off and got lost. What should we do with her?" The fox asked curiously, setting her down again.

  • Jack had crawled from the water as he was now dripping wet from the wave that had been created before noticing Amber come back with a small fox kit, His eyes fell on the small creature feeling a little upset that it had somehow gotten lost from her mother "We need to somehow keep her warm" Now Jack wasn't good with children as he hadn't even seen a pup or a fox kit for that matter, but he did know that you must try and keep the child warm so it didn't grow cold and sick "Afterwards.. I feel we should try and look for her mother... or you should" Knowing full well any other fox would turn on their heels and run away from the beagle in fear of being hunted down. So Jack wouldn't be able to help find the mother let alone touch the kit...in fear that his scent would cause the mom to reject her young daughter.

  • "Well generally they have their mothers to keep them warm..." She explained, cleaning the kit before sitting and placing it in her lap. "And I'm afraid that at her age, virtually any time without her mother's contact will make her sick," Amber admitted. "So, I guess I have to foster her for a little while." That earned a shrug from her, wrapping her tail around the kit. "But, she can't have just me, and not on this cold floor. Can you bring me some sticks from outside?" The fox asked him, more of a command then a question, but still in a gentle tone. She continued licking the kit's head fur with her rough tongue until it was completely smooth.

  • Jack nodded before crawling out from the cave and into the surrounding woods searching for small twigs and sticks which some still had leaves on. Picking up the sticks in his jaws only able to grab a few at a time due to having a slightly small mouth along with his small size, Dragging sticks back into the opening near the water feeling the small chill. Deciding that it was best to stay out if Amber wanted him to stay out here that was...Jack wouldn't just invite himself to stay the night especially since they now had a small kit to watch over.

  • "Jack? How long do you plan on staying here? I just need to know so I can bring back more prey." She inquired curiously, giving a small smile before assembling the twigs he had brought in combined with some fluff she had around the cave into a very large, comfy nest. They each could stretch out to their full length inside, with more space to spare. "You should come inside, it's cold out there Jack."

  • "I don't want to leave you alone out her Amber" Speaking truthfully due to him getting some senses of worry..not at all caring about what would happen if he got back. Sitting down after trotting closer into the warm cave..it was true that the forest grew colder at night. "I could go try catching somethings" Now Jack wasn't the faster dog but he could track down small prey animals

.just like he was ment to do able to squeeze into most dens of small creatures

  • "Yeah! that'd be great! Catch a mouse for me, you get whatever. I have to nurse the baby, she's too young to have prey yet." She gave a small frown as the kit wandered blindly, pulling her back into the nest. Amber Graye was not a real motherly type, but when she was maternal she had instincts like she had her own child. "You're free to leave if you want, but the humans are treating you like you're a slave- or even worse, crow food." The fox frowned grimly. "Oh, and if you ever need to take that collar off, either come to me, or learn to sharpen your claws. They both come in handy," Amber grinned, licking his forehead before walking back to the kit. She lye down and let the baby nurse on her, because she was old enough to offer milk.

  • Jack left the small den as he would call it from now on, the small beagle began trying to track some sort of food that would provide a decent meal to Amber. He would put up with eating what the humans offered if it ment Amber would receive whatever was a better food source, slipping his head into one of the few holes that peeked throughout the wooded areas nearby their home abode or rather Amber's home. Catching the scent of some sort of rodent which after a long time of chasing managed to find and catch a small hair, instically dragging bag into the den not at all even taking one bite of the prey animal.

  • She grinned. "Daww, thanks! I like mice. They're pretty tasty. What are you having?" She frowned at the last sentence, seeing he looked pretty hungry.
