    BACKGROUND.

    It all started with the snow. 20 years ago.

    And just like that, man was wiped out, sparing only a few.

    Winter came, but Summer, Spring and Autumn did not. Our world plummeted into the cold, and took us along with it. Our great cities dashed out in the blizzards the ricocheted from pole to pole, all that is left of them is the passages in the books that were salvaged. Our homes destroyed and all that was left to us was our sheer will to survive. Billions died. Their bodies buried in the snow and sometimes, they don't always stay in the snow, the dead like to walk.

    Those that managed to scrape past death's fingertips stowed themselves away in the intricate cave and tunnel networks below the surface, and others found coves nestled between mountains which could hold our homes without blowing into the wind. But the cold isn't all that bites and gnaws at our flesh. Our planet isn't our own anymore, there are others that walk its surface. Others don't believe in our survival but rather our demise. There is something beyond the veil of our world, something unknown to us entirely. It prowls along our borders, sniffing out the cracks to slip through, and bad things always find what they are looking for. Angry hearts always wreak vengeance, and it is a fire that burns and eats its way through anything and everything. Our world isn't what it used to be, we don't leave peacefully in our homes, arrogant of the world outside our walls. All the secret's of our planet have been lain out, naked before us. So what did we do? We fought. In every instance of humanity, our fear brought on our rage, and our rage brought on war. And so many humans choose to fight a race just as old as we. The lycans. As the humans died in their billions, the lycans began to step out of the shadows as they raised their faces to a new sun. It was the dawn of monsters, they were no longer alone, no longer the only vestiges of what lay beyond the Earth's veil. Hellhounds, Ice giants, trolls, numerous creatures tumbled through the cracks and the lycans rose up to the place they saw as rightfully there's, right at the top.

    Once upon a time there were the great houses of the lycans. Ancient families found all over the world that held the bloodlines as sacred, who taught their cubs the way of the wolf and their connection to the Earth. That it was their sacred duty to protect the pack and nothing more, nothing less. The human world was no concern of there's, and to reveal yourself to man was their greatest sin. But in the days of the end, lycans who did not belong to the great families turned on them, seeing them as weak. These lycans turned away from the codes of honor and pack loyalty, and turned their faces to savagery. To the ways of the monster. It is these lycans that hunt mankind, and it is these lycans that which mankind hunts. Most of the great houses have all but died out, the vestiges living on within a few cubs that managed to escape the first waves of the kullings.

    But the lycans are not all we face. There are other things that wait for us in the snow...

    PLOT

    So here is hot it goes: the world plummeted into its second Ice Age. Wolrd War Three tore across the lands and people fought for resources and such. Billions died. Then came the monsters, the lycans and alike. All emerging from the shadows to take what they thought was rightfully there's. So consider the fact that humanity has taken a huge swing back in time, they don't have access to technology, medicine, electricity, etc. None of that anymore. It has gone right back to the dark ages for them and only the people who now how to survive live on. There are human camps found in alcoves between mountains and within caves. There are lycan and human camps where both species look for safety together. Then there are the pure lycan camps. Seeing as everyone is hunting each other, there is no specific 'good guys' and 'bad guys', you join the camp that sits closest to you morals. So to begin with, the plot would start with the survival of our characters, setting up where they are situated, what they believe in and such. Then we can develop the plot further, would love any ideas.

    THE COLONIES OF THE NEW WORLD

    The human base camps were mostly created by military factions that survived deep in their bunkers, thus you have the 'factions', which are a bunch of army bunkers in which humans have managed to stow themselves away in. These bunkers are human only.

    Their resources are plentiful for now, in the way that they have stowed medicine, food, and salvaged farm animals deep below the surface. They are an attractive target for the rogues, but the only issue is getting in, seeing as it's almost impossible to get in.


    Then you have the 'cave dwellers' and these are the rogues that belong to neither side of the war and merely want to survive. All kinds of monsters and humans live together in the cave networks.
    They mostly eek out an existence where they can, their lives revolving around hunting and killing and such.


    Lastly there are the lycan camps. Lycans do not feel the cold, but their camps lie within sheltered alcoves between mountains.

    HISTORY Jude Dubois comes from an ancient bloodline of lycans originating as far back in the former province of

    Gévaudan in the Margeride Mountains in south-central France between 1764 and 1767. It was then that the

    Beast of Gévaudan first came into the spotlight, entering the history books of mankind. Descriptions of the time vary, but

    generally the beast was said to look like a wolf but to be about as big as a calf. It had a large dog-like head with small

    straight ears, a wide chest, and a large mouth which exposed very large teeth. The beast's fur was said to be red in color

    but its back was streaked with black. The Beast of Gévaudan was one of the first ancestors of the Dubois', and although

    just a fairy tale for mankind to enjoy, it was very much truth as opposed to fiction for Jude and lycan kind. And so the name

    took a liking to the family and stayed. The Beasts of Gévaudan, is the great house of the Dubois'. Although the house fell

    a part somewhere in the beginning of the end of the world. Lycans grew wild and savage, they no longer had to hide in

    the dark, and stepped into the light. And so the house of Dubois suffered. As they fought for eloquence, loyalty and honour

    in their species, the others were set on destroying it. The others wanted savagery and the Dubios' were weak with their

    morals. All the great lycan houses were snuffed out one by one, as the true monsters saw them as the weakest of links in

    the war to come. Jude Dubois is all that is left of his once great house, the last Beast of Gévaudan. No longer the future

    alpha of his house, he was cast out as a rogue and spent the rest of his days roaming the snow. He hasn't touched skin

    in many years, neither his own nor someone else's, as he took refuge in the form of a wolf. Away from the sorrows his

    human skin suffers from.

    In direct blood line of Leendert de Koningh, a dutch marine and landscape painter who traveled to England in 1801 but shortly after fled to Paris due to the War of Third Coalition. He studied under Jacques-Louis 'David', one of the strongest influences in France during this time period, and settled in France and became accustomed to the new way of life. During his humble stay in the neighboring empire, Koningh was not directly affected by the supposed spike in lycanthropy sightings and activities as the attention died down during the 18th century. Still the folktales did influence some of his more personal artworks, that would be later drift down the bloodline.

    Abbeline was the first first female born of the name, and because of her mothers death after her fourth birthday, her father was never able to produce a son that would prevent the elimination of the name. Though Abbeline swore on her life, and over her fathers grave, that she would be the one to carve their name into history. The naive minor at the time, never realized that history itself would crumble and descend with the unstopping snow that now plagued the end of the world. Abbeline's doesn't necessarily agree with directly hunting the lycan, somewhat believing they are people too, but she most definitely won't let that get in the way of the fact they are slaughtering people like her.

  • That wasn't very specific so I assume you're talking about both, lol. I don't really know how to further broaden the actual theme, as it is already so phenomenally displayed. Though possibly for a plot outlet could maybe be interbreeding? Disease? Maybe both, maybe a humans develop and release a disease specific for lyncs to help level the playing field and the beasts are desperate to up their numbers. Just an idea, throwing stuff around tbh.

    "Human," she tells herself in the mirror. "A squishy meat-sack stretched across a sickass skeleton," the mirror says back.


    •Physical Description•


    Nike Gardener is a "5-foot, 6-inch, pale-but-not-too-pale BAMF," as she describes herself. More accurately, Nike Gardener is a dirty blonde-haired girl with sharp eyes, a square jaw, and a round face, and the same muscle that everybody in the icy wasteland is required to have if they want to survive. Her hair is oft worn in a "warrior's wolf tail" (scruffy ponytail) down her back. Although her body curves into a roughly hourglass shape, Nike has a little pouch of belly fat (not her uterus pouch) that refuses to truly go away, so she just accepts it and calls it her "Walrus blubber."


    •Personality Traits•


    Nike is, despite bring pretty normal, kinda emotionally oblivious. Certain social cues fly right over her head, and anyone willing to be in a relationship with her is gonna have to be pretty obvious about it. On the positive side, Nike knows about twelve different ways to kill someone, though it's debatable as to whether she actually could. Her life experience is mostly from reading or hearing stories from others, as she was raised in a bunker. Wide, open spaces absolutely fascinate her. Walking silently on snow is not one of her strongsuits.

    Family of choice is also heavily important to Nike, and she quickly becomes clingy around people she trusts.


    •Likes/Does not like•


    Nike is a sucker for aesthetic, and (much like the French language) may add things to her home or appearance simply because it looks nice. Having been raised with snowstorms and blizzards the norm, Nike absolutely adores warm drinks and is basically dependent on coffee. Fluffy blankets are also one of her favored objects.

    On the flip-side, Nike can't stand MREs ("They're all we ever eat! I can count on my hands the amount of times we've actually had a decent meal these past few months."), nor is she comfortable with the way her bunker mates live on a "kill first, ask questions later" basis. Because she was raised in a bunker, Nike also has a strong (but overcomable) distaste for Lycans despite never having met one before.


    •Strengths•


    Nike spends enough time at the bunker "fitness" room (an oversize closet/slightly small room with gym equipment in it) to have a decent body shape, as well as having sparred enough to know basic fighting techniques (thumbs on the outside of your fists, open stance, aim for the eyes or crotch and flee if you need to run, use your size to your advantage, don't—). Dealing with animals is a snap for Nike, as she leans herself on body language anyways and she exerts a clear Alpha presence (at least, with the dogs owned by her bunker mates).


    •Weaknesses•


      Nike's body is built primarily for running, and she only has a basic grasp on hand-to-hand fighting. Because most bunker-raised adults don't have any practice fighting, she believes she is much better than she actually is. Nike has no idea how to quietly traverse snow without moving at a snail's pace, nor does she know how to climb a tree. If she thinks someone can be trusted, she will immediately trust them like a long-time friend, without considering the consequences. Nike also has a hard time staying quiet, often humming or tapping a foot to fill the silence.


    •A Brief History•


    Nike Gardener has no memory of ever living outside of her bunker. If her father hadn't told her otherwise, she'd have thought she was born in it. As he told her, the Gardener family was intially American with German heritage, and Nike was born on a visit to her "ancestors' homeland." The planet had already started chilling at the point, so Ava decided to name her daughter after the Greek goddess of victory so her daughter would have strength.

    By the time the bunkers were being established, Ava and Nikolas scrambled to the closest one they could find to keep their three-year-old daughter safe (assuming the bunkers were set up around the first year of snow).

    At the ripe old age of eight years old, Nike had to be told that Ava had left the bunker and would never come back.

    At the age of twenty-two, Nike finally volunteered to leave her home and search for any sort of vittles and/or fresh water to be scrounged up on the surface.


    •Place of Birth/Family•


    Nike was born in a quaint little German forest she couldn't name if you asked, to Ava and Nikolas Gardener. She is an only child due to her parents not wanting to bring another child into the suffocating Winter. Ava died in the earlier bunker days on a scouting mission for fresh food.

  • really great bio, I had a cheeky laugh. also, we need to figure out how to get all our characters together and why they have been brought together? as in we need to figure out a story line other than just surviving. i'm having trouble figuring that part out.

  • For the meeting, I honestly just assumed it was a happenstance encounter (Person A comes across Person B for X reason, then A/B comes across person C and they group up or whatevs) (Persons A and B know each other somehow then meet Person C) (Person B saves Person A from something and form an unlikely friendship, also Person C is there) (etc.)


    On the topic of the RP thread, I can't wait to see what you can do 'cause this sign-up was already amazing

  • I like the idea of personal one on one meet ups, but for an umbrella idea, maybe areas have become horrifically uninhabitable by any species and both groups are forced to continuously migrate in search of basic surviving need which would lead to the intertwining of different groups of people as they pass through different areas.
