  • Spell walked along the border, looking around carefully. He had only just returned from being carried off by Bill Cipher and was still jumpy when he was outside alone. However, he continued to patrol the border alone from time to time if only to prove to everyone else that he was okay. Besides, he had an important group in the making. They surely wouldn't want their leader to be somebody who couldn't patrol his own territory by himself. This world is just as interesting as it is frightening, and it needed to be explored and documented. Spell knew he would feel braver with more knowledge and experience. He needed to find some like-minded people to recruit.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin had found herself in a predicament. Again. She was currently hanging from a tree by her cat like tail, her magnifying goggles constantly moving as her paws fiddled for the correct zoom. She was studying a strange mark on a tree, constantly getting closer to it, as far as her tail would let her. Turning her gaze down as she heard a rustling, Shirin jumped out of the tree in shock. Her glasses had magnified the face of the nearby feline, causing her to believe that they were right beside her. Looking around again, the disorientated griffin ripped the goggles off of her head.

  • Spellpaw noticed the griffin from afar acting strangely from her upside down perch. Moving in closer, the young feline narrowed his eyes into a curious expression. What was that thing on her face? Those round objects over the griffin's eyes intrigued Spell even more than her odd behavior. "Er, hello," Spell greeted from a safe distance away in case she was still disoriented. "May I ask what you're doing so close to the Stormclan border with those... glasses?" he asked, looking the goggles over again with a puzzled look.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
With the goggle dangling from one of her fluffy, clawed feet, the griffin turned around to stare at the cat. He was only small, and seemed to be rather scared - what a funny creature. Shirin stumbled over, shaking her head slightly to try and make herself think better. "Oh, these? They're goggles. They magnify things. I was just looking at the tree, it seems to have sulphur on it," she answered, Greek accent prominent in her voice. "And sulphur is associated with demons, in most common forms of mythology," she added.

  • Spell nodded, intrigued. The griffin's accent was unfamiliar but he had grown used to hearing strange accents and disregarded it. His main interest lay in her goggles and. . . Did she say demons? "Uh, yeah." Spell said, impressed, "They say that demons both smell of sulphur and leave sulphur behind them when they've been somewhere. " Was it possible that this stranger shared his interest in the paranormal? Spell had never met anyone else who held the same interest as him. He decided to proceed cautiously, lest he seem like a total nutjob. "Why?" he said with a playful smirk, "Do you think a demon may have been around this tree?"

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
The griffin nodding at his statements, smiling slightly. It was nice to find somebody interested in this field, but she couldn't quite tell if he was a true nerd or randomly knowledgeable. At his question,
Shirin sat down, staring at Spellpaw with a somewhat annoyed look on her face. "So, the giant claw marks and the sulphur traces don't give it away?" she asked sarcastically, her eyebrow rising slightly.

  • Spell noticed how his remark seemed to irritate the griffin. So she did take this stuff seriously then. "Nah, the claw marks combined with sulphur are enough for me. Might not be super recent though, marks like that can take awhile to come off trees from what I've heard." Spell said, more serious this time. "Is that what the goggles are for, getting an estimate of how recent it was?" he asked with a curious tilt of the head. Was it possible that she was looking for a demon here? The thought gave Spell a sinking feeling. What if she stumbled upon Reyes, the demon he himself had accidentally summoned and had been making attempts to contain? Would he lose credibility as a paranormal investigator? That would be disappointing, especially since this stranger seemed like she had the potential to be a valuable addition to the group.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin grinned broadly, throwing the goggles towards the feline so that he could put them on. "They magnify and show what elemental family a substance comes from. Bought them in a flea market in Athens," she grinned, looking back at the tree. The sulphur was still clear, but it was bright yellow with the goggles on. "I'm Shirin."

  • Spellpaw took a moment to adjust to the yellow tint of the goggle lenses. "Wow, that's really cool." Spell said, cracking a grin, "Sounds like Athens has some pretty sweet markets." Granted, the apprentice wouldn't know whether finding such things was normal at markets or not seeing as he had never been to any.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin smiled - it was nice to talk about the cities in her home country with someone who appreciated it. "Have a look at your paws," she suggested quietly, an excited grin growing on her face. She loved doing that - her paws, talons and hooves were always a rainbow of elements, due to the fact that she walked most places. It had been the first thing that the merchant at the market had told her to do, and was what made her 'waste' 10 drachmas. Her mother had deemed it useless and had attempted to throw it away many times, but she had always retrieved it and fixed it.

  • Spell lifted a paw to his face and stared for a moment. He was astonished by the shining rainbow of colors his pad showed. "That's awesome." he said absently, still focused on the colors, "I wonder whether you could rig this thing to show all kinds of other stuff too." He couldn't help but imagine it reading off not only elements, but also percentages and perhaps even identifying some objects based on their composition.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin nodded, a thoughtful and quizzical look coming to her face. She'd never really thought about upgrading her lenses before, but it did seem like a rather good idea. Especially in this new place - she'd already met a few demons who seemed rather ahead of the times. "I would, but the technología for upgrading is difficult," she announced awkwardly, knowing full well that the words in the sentence didn't fit at all.

  • Spell hesitated to respond, taking a moment to grasp what exactly that word was. Technologia. Greek for technology? He assumed it must be. "Difficult because you can't find supplies or difficult to program?" he asked, looking slightly confused. The apprentice was getting a little ahead of himself now, he would absolutely offer to help the griffin with a programming project like this. "I'd be willing to help you with either." he said, "Programming seems fun. Oh, and I'm Spellpaw by the way." he added, realizing that he had missed that important little act

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin let out an exasperated gasp that meant that she struggled with both. Coming from Ancient Greece, she hadn't really been exposed to computers. As the kid mentioned his name, Shirin realised that they hadn't even been properly introduced. "Oh, names, names," she repeated, trying to remember if she had introduced herself. Yes, she had.

  • Stormclan didn't have computers either, but Spell wouldn't be surprised if there were some interesting manuals on programming anyway. The Stormclan library had lots of strange and seemingly useless things. "I could help if you want, there might be some neat books on that sort of thing in our library." Stormclan never minded visitors, so if she wanted to come check out their vast library occasionally, he was sure nobody would mind.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
The griffin grinned broadly, straightening up a little at the mention of help and a library. That sounded pretty good, and she nodded eagerly towards Spellpaw.

  • "Cool, we could even head there now if you want." Spell said enthusiastically, nodding in the direction of Stormclan territory, "I wouldn't mind showing you around." The griffin didn't smell of an enemy clan, so he was sure nobody would mind.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin looked at Spell with the same sense of awe and surprise that a child would. She nodded enthusiastically, indicating that she would like that very very much.

  • Spell smiled a little at Shirin's response. He didn't remember ever making a visitor quite so happy before. It felt good. "Cool, it's this way," Spell said, motioning in the direction of the library and began walking. "I think mechanical stuff is on the third shelf down." Gee, Stormclan needed a librarian.

  • I'M A SHUT UP SIT DOWN — Shirin
Shirin stood, following Spell towards the huge library. She earned a few looks from the other people gathered around the centre of the territory, but she didn't exactly blame them - it wasn't every day you saw an enormous griffin walking with a pint-sized cat towards a library. As they entered the building, she looked towards the direction that Spell had pointed in and headed over there, counting the shelves down in Greek. She reached the third shelf, and opened her beak to blow the dust off of the book spines. Shirin instantly regretted it, as a large cloud of irritant flew back into her beak and stuck to the back of her throat, causing her to cough loudly.
