hey guys! I'm a returning member, all the way back from 2009! I used to rp here for years, and now I am back with an idea!!
I used to go by sourwolf, reveant/revenant and a couple
this idea and world is not to be used without my permission!
BASICS:
PACK
Alpha - leader (must be at least 36 moons)
Beta - deputy (must be at least 24 moons)
Gammas - protectors and hunters (12 moons to and up)
Omegas - young wolves in training (6 moons to 12)
Dams - nursing mothers or pregnant mothers
Pups - wolves too young to train or leave the den (6 moons or less)
_____
Ikiaq Pack: Our current pack of wolves, which the thread revolves around.
Prey Pile: Where the food is stored, kept in the back of the main cave, protected from other predators and weather.
Tartok Mountains: Sacred mountains where the lights touch the earth, only future alphas may travel here.
The Outlands: Territory outside of the pack, omegas travel here to prove themselves worthy of the gamma title. Hunting patrols will also venture out here if prey is scarce. Dangerous, travel in pairs.
The Unknown: There is the pack territory, and there is the outskirts beyond it. And then there is the unknown. None travel past the outskirts for fear of what lays beyond. It is here the demons roam openly, as well as other creatures. Every wolf is to beware when considering going beyond the outskirts. DANGEROUS, FORBIDDEN TO TRAVEL.
Karnet Cavern: A moonlit cave where mated pairs seek the approval of their deity. Leaders may also travel here to seek blessings, or guidance.
Siluk River: In the warmer seasons, wolves may wander here to fish and swim. It is also a seasonal tradition to watch the traveling herds cross.
Pinga: The deer goddess of the hunt, fertility, and the guide of souls. She is often described as having the sharpest horns, and has been known to guide the wolves on their hunts long ago. Immortal being.
Amaguq: Father of the demons, stealer of souls. The very reason no wolf should hunt alone.
INFO:
Restricted to a max of ten members(?)
Openings allowed when pups are born as well as random loner slots.
Litters are restricted to a max of 2.
Realistic! No extreme eye colors. Lavenders, tea reds, blues, greens, gold and brown allowed.
Humans do not exist in this world.
Deer and other cervidae are forbidden to be hunted - they are thought to be the protectors of the forest, as well as the ancestors of the wolves. Coming across a deceased deer is typically a bad omen.
There are DEMONS in this world, they only traverse the land at night, and can appear in any shape they desire. They can mimic the sounds of others, though slightly off key. This is to lure you in. Young wolves are warned about the demons, and forbidden to leave the territory alone. Wolves must travel in pairs. Demons mostly reside in the unknown, it is rare to find them in the outskirts or even in the Ikiaq territory.
There is no discrimination against size, sex, or gender. All wolves are seen as equals and valued in the pack.
Gay pairings are allowed, and can raise a litter of their own with a voluntary surrogate.
Litters are to be approved by the current alpha.
Loner slots will open up for tryouts as the alpha sees necessary!
CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS:
Wolf litters are uncommon, yet sacred. A mated pair must travel to the moonlit cave (Karnet Cavern), where they will ask their deer deity, Pinga, for a blessing. If the moon can be seen reflecting on the water, their future litter has been blessed. If not, the pair return to the pack and wait another season before asking again.
Pups are celebrated and well taken care of, to lose one is often seen as a curse, or a bad omen.
When an alpha passes away, their body is protected until nightfall. Then they are taken outside of the territory and buried in a sacred place. It is believed burying them at night allows time for their soul to travel to the stars, where they will watch over the pack until the next alpha passes.
When a beta becomes alpha, they must leave their pack for a weeks journey to the tartok mountains. There they will venture to the top, and wait at the peak until the northern lights dance above them. This is a sign that they have been accepted as the next pack leader. Up here they will hunt and survive the week to prove they are capable of caring for the pack. When they return they lead the morning hunt, catching enough prey for the entire pack. The pack then gathers and the new alpha shares one bite with each member, creating a bond. This is done when new pups are born as well as it is imperative they bond with their alpha.
There is a similar ritual for omegas becoming gammas. The omega and their mentor will travel past the pack’s territory, relying only on what the omega can catch and what shelter they can find. If the gamma has to step in the omega must continue training for 3 more moons. Disasters and unforeseen events do not count towards the omegas failures.
However, if the omega does fail, they have until the return home to prove themselves.(Though this typically does not happen as most feel dejected after failing such an important task.
THE TERRITORY:
Mountains: Harsh, tundra. Lots of rock and little to no vegetation. Rarely reaches above 54 degrees F, common temps are in the negatives. Read up on it here: tundra biome!
Pack territory: Long, cold winters with moderately warm summers. Nights are cold but the packs’ cave systems and sleeping in groups keeps them warm. Plenty of forest and often heavy snowfall. With the lack of rainfall, forest fires in summer are a large threat to the pack and often require a temporary move until things are back in order. Read up on it here: taiga biome
The unknown: Thought to be an endless course of nightfall as well as extremely cold. Not much is known about this location.
Home / Camp: An open space, with the entrance to a large cavern. Inside is a series of cave systems.
--In the farthest section is where nursing mothers and pups are kept, for safety.
-- The middle section is where the pack sleeps, as well as seeks shelter from the weather.
-- Other stray systems lead to dead ends mostly, young omegas will run here to play or get away from the rest of the pack. Pups often wander as well.
-- Near the entrance is an opening, which leads to an airy space. It gets quite cool in here and is often where the leader will go to think, if not in use. Other times it is used to store food during the scarce months.
-- “Leaky Boulder”: cold water often trickles down this boulder in one of the stray systems. It is a means of water for nursing mothers and those seeking shelter.
RELIGION AND LORE:
They have one goddess; the deer deity, Pinga. She is the goddess of the hunt but also bestows blessings upon the wolves. Often she is asked to oversee the birth of a litter, or to watch over a journeying alpha or beta.
It is their Goddess that guides their souls after death. Each wolf is sent to the stars to watch over their pack, until another passes and comes to take their place. From there, Pinga reincarnates them into deer, allowing them to live once more. From here, the cycle will continue.
Because of this they respect the life of any cervidae, or deer. They do not hunt them. If one is fallen they try to help or guide them home. To be in the presence of one is often seen as a blessing or spiritual message, as the deer are believed to be their fallen ancestors.
These wolves are a very spiritual kind and never unnecessarily take life. To eat is a privilege their goddess bestows upon them, not a right. All wolf cubs are taught this, and taught to respect the natural balance. Any caught harming others without reason are severely punished, even outcasted at times.
To be outcasted is the worst punishment, as you are chased into the outlands without mercy. There, the world will decide what to do with you. It’s said that once a wolf spends a night in the outlands, they are killed, but return as demon kind. And because of the hatred they harness for their pack (for outcasting them), their sole purpose is to haunt the pack. No one knows if a demon can be killed.
Once long ago, the ancestors were struggling with an overwhelming amount of demons-- an infestation. It is said that Pinga herself blessed the wolves with a piece of her soul, and gave them the power to defeat the demons. This power has long since passed, but there is always curious murmurs every time a white wolf is born, or appears. To be solid white is thought to be one of the ancestors who carried part of her soul. Only one ever exists at a time, and sometimes years in between. But they are often highly regarded.
NOTICE:
You can be kicked from the group, just as your character can be outcast. If you wish for your character to leave, that is how it will be viewed in character. If you are breaking rules, starting drama, or being a dick you will be kicked from the thread!

Interest check is all I’m looking for at this moment!
Positions will open for applications after I feel there is enough people interested.
Pups are not currently available to apply for, but I might later create adopts!
If you are applying for Gamma or Omega, please make sure to put whether you want a mentor/apprentice or not! This is critical. If you do not, yours will be an npc. And if you do, I will assign them based on you and your character.
You may only create one character, until I specify otherwise!
