Ashe yawned in his seat, still twirling the sword he had snagged from Clare. He propped his feet up on the desk and leaned back, trying to block out all the sounds around him. This academy really knew how to be so boring sometimes. If sparring was the best they could come up with, Ashe knew he was not going to enjoy the year yet again. So what if he was top 10 and potentially got to fight someone higher than him. With the teacher there, the fights would be supervised and ended before any real harm would be done. No maiming, killing, or even severely injuring was allowed, and that was just boring to Ashe.

Even though I am the fastest student in this school, I can't match her."With all due respect miss, I think sparring would just make things worse.Honestly, violence just makes things worse in general.Especially since we already had a fight." Maxwell suggested.Oh god, I feel so much regret.

ραη∂σяα єνєявℓєє∂
At the thought of a sparring, Pandora cringed. Christina knew that she would do badly in a sparring match, so why would she make her get into a sparring match anyway? Hopefully she'll let me out easily... Pandora thought in fear. However, she knew her fears were confirmed when number 49 asked why sparring was needed. Pandora clenched her hands at the thought of Christina getting furious, and you could tell there were tears that were going to come out of her eyes as she looked around. It seemed that most people were happy, except for some people. Clare was really happy as she was looking at number seven with greedy and blood thirsty eyes.
????????? ????
If one thing made her more upset then breaking the rules, it was disobedience. She hated it when someone would complain or did not do what they were told. So, she turned her body towards Maxwell, rage in her eyes as she walked up to his desk. When she arrived she immediately slammed the desk, causing a crack to appear on the desk "Why do we spar each other Maxwell? We spar each other because this is what we are training for. You are not here to get a good life in the military, you are here to protect and serve this country. And in reality, if you do not know how to fight you will die a painful death." Now she wasn't exactly yelling at him, but she might as well have been with the dark tone "Do you want to die? I'll kill you right now if you want to. I don't want lazy people in my academy."

I'm such an idiot.Maxwell looked down then made eye contact. "Of course ma'am, I understand.Sorry for the inconvenience." Maxwell stated sincerely as he sat at his desk. With sorrow and regret, Maxwell just sat there thinking about the mistake he made and how it reminded him of his past. Father...
(Btw Maxwell was saying that he wouldn't recommend sparring, but I'll go with your post) -
Ashe waved his hand from the seat in the back and yawned again. "Can you kill me?" He asked casually as his head looked to one side. "I'm here because you forced me to, and I this is all just boring me again." Ashe said as he tried to stay awake. "Then again, killing me once won't work..."

Madeleine Howlett | Rank 18 | Enhancement | British-French
Maddy rolled her eyes. She was from Britain, and half of her family was from France. There was no way in hell she would fight for a country that had betrayed the Britains all those years ago, and then practically destroyed Canada. It was sick, really, but Maddy was here to learn. To learn how to control her powers and then returned to her country. She would never fight for America, but that didn't mean she was about to say so out loud.
Lysandre Rosier | Rank 3 | Manipulative | Canadian
Lysandre arched an eyebrow at the teacher's words, but he took a seat, making sure to station himself somewhere in between Ashe and Clare. Even if the teacher was as strict as they come, Lysandre would not allow another fight to break out anyways. He ignored the evil Clare was shooting Ashe and listened attentively to the teacher for about three seconds, before he found it boring and wandered off into his mind palace.
He was thinking about the sparring. That would certainly be fun, but Lysandre knew he wouldn't be able to deal with weaklings. Sure, he was kind towards them when he needed to be, but that didn't meant he could stand dealing with their weak magic and lack of control. The idea of working with them was not appealing to Lysandre in the slightest. -
FLORIAN JONES - Enhanced strength - #2
Florian, being the good student that he usually was, remained quiet at the front of the class. Back straight and fingers entwined together from where they rested atop the desk, his blue eyes remained on the teacher. He nodded in agreement to everything she had said. She was right. Sparring was important. It was the only time he could fine tune the full potential of his strength. Also it allowed him to observe how other people fought. Raising his hand to get the teacher's attention he spoke up, . "Who will I be sparring with?" who's the unlucky soul who'll become my punching bag?
Edit: . im terrible at using the right words.

ANDRESA MILLER - Summoner - #44
Andresa had groaned at the thought of sparring. She already knew that her familiar would not be making an appearance. ...him! Kill him! Kill him!
Correction: the familiar would not grace her with its presence in her time of need, and leave her to get her buttwhooped. The enthusiastic chanting grew louder in her head, becoming as irritating as crashing cymbals. Involuntarily her muscles froze up and a sleek, blue creature- no bigger than a cat- appeared coiled tightly around her right arm. It's sleek head was fixed on the teacher and the student Ashe, head bobbing up and down and a quiet trill leaving its throat. It awaited with anticipation for the blood to start spilling.
idiot, he was joking. If she could actually move she would've thrown her stupid familiar off of her. With a sharp hiss It tightened its hold on her arm, beady claws stabbing her skin through her shirt. If people could show their irritation by blinking then Andresa would definitely be doing that.

LI MARKUS ♔ — If Markus was a saint, he would've gone ahead and helped break out the fight.
The thing is: he isn't a saint.
Somewhere at the back, Markus sits fairly far away from all the commotion and stays there, despite the bullying taking place in front of him. As much as he would wish for this to stop, what would be the point? In the case that he chooses to try, what could he possibly do? What could he accomplish? Thinking about it rationally, all that'll happen is that he'll become a new target along with the girl.
He would save no one with his intervention.
That's why when their instructor had entered and stopped the fight, he was immensely thankful. As cowardly as he was in regards to interfering with that business, he was averse to seeing combat and fighting not included in their regime.
Promptly, he wonders about who his partner would be and whether they'll be merciful.

?????? ????????? ????? ?????? ???
Taylor cringed at the thought of a fight breaking out in class. He listened attentively to the teacher, but could not take his eyes off of the gorgeous silver hair of the top student. How does she have enough time to care for herself that well? he wondered, eyes shining.
Upon hearing the news that the high and low ranks would be pairing up, he hoped that he would be paired with Jinyoung, however it seemed better for her to be paired with Pandora. as she may be able to learn some things from the model student, and have the perfect protection. Still, he longed for her company in battle.

Eldan was sitting in his room, meditating. He hadn't gone to sleep last night, or last week, or last month... He didn't actually need sleep, he could simply go into his mind and sort out his needs there. He had been reading a ravishing book on quantum physics the whole of last night, and his desire to finish it had made him late for class.
Finishing his meditation, he got up, got dressed in his usual plain clothing, and left for class. Moving through the quiet hallways, he approached the not-so-quiet classroom. Silently opening the door, he closed it behind him before moving to his seat in the middle of the others. Sparing no one a glance, he got out his journal, and started to write down everything that was being said in the room. -

????????
Jinyoung could feel somebodys eyes focused on the back of her head, almost like a weird sixth sense. Feeling slightly uncomfortable but somewhat flattered, she listened intently to the teacher, whom she had utmost respect for. She did feel a pang of remorse for her outburst, but she knew she had to at least try knock the racist American "girl" down a few notches. She crossed her slim legs very daintily and quietly twirled a silver pen around her fingers since it helped her concentrate.
She began to cough, but then after a few she knew that she would feel even more uncomfortable if she continued coughing. Another cold... she thought, and let out a small sigh. -

Benedikt Amore
[ male ][ 15 yrs ][ water-ice manipulation ][ rank 17 ][ icelandic-russian ]
His room that he left was significantly colder than anywhere else, and Benedikt almost felt disappointed, but kept it aside with a knowing fact that today would be over soon enough and he would be able to return to his freezer-like room. It wasn't below freezing, per se, but to any sane, not-addicted-to-the-cold person it would've felt as if their limbs would fall off. The cold was his preference for comfort, however.
Benedikt gathered himself and walked to the classroom where for a few minutes as he traveled he could hear the sounds of loud arguing. It quieted when he got closer, but when he entered the class he knew for sure there had been some form of verbal fighting which, by assumption due to the tension in the air, it would've gotten physical. Benedikt slipped into the class and found an empty seat in the back and tried to focus rather than "assessing" the other students. And by assessing, he would've stared for a really long time and tried to guess their power and rank (which he'd done several times once in previous years and ended up guessing a rank 10 to be 45 with the power of teleportation, but actually had the ability to summon demons.) -

Rose
rose sat towards the front, next to florian, by no coincidence may i add. She purposely sat there because from the years before, she knew he actually was a good student and always was polite to the teacher so it made her very happy knowing there had been an empty seat near him. she watched as they spoke sparring and she felt a bit uneasy. she wasnt the strongest although she knew that this was good for practice so she was a bit excited. she'd also get to see florians ability in action and maybe hed see hers?? then again that may be embarrassing...even so Rose payed attention closely, also curious to know who'd she spar with.

????????? ????
Christina closed her eyes in annoyance before walking away from the desk returning to the front of the classroom. She opened her eyes, looking at all of her students in annoyance "Today's sparring matches will be based on your ranks. The higher your rank, the higher rank opponent you fight." Christina looked over at Pandora with slight pity in her eyes "However, today's sparring matches will count the most. If you loose too many times or you are injured badly, your rank will be switched around. Now I expect that all of you will go fair and not hurt everyone too badly... This is a class after all and everyone needs to learn." Christina closed her eyes again and sighed "What the heck am I thinking... Of course you are going to be hurting each other a lot. Fine, since number 50 Pandora has one of the only healing powers she will stand aside to heal anyone's injuries after fighting." She looked around at the fellow students, and saw that Pandora was almost crying in relief at the fact she was excused from this fight. Christina turned towards a chalk board that was behind her and walked up to it, grabbing the nearest chalk "Now i am going to tell who you are sparring with." She informed as she placed the chalk against the board. "Number One stand by, Number Three against Number 2, Number 5 against Number 7, Number 12 against Number 17, Number 18 stand by, Number 21 against 27 Number 36 against Number 41, and Number 48 against Number 49. Is that everyone?"

Eldan paused his writing when he heard that they were sparring today, and that he'd be fighting Taylor today, Fighting? Well, it's good my opponent is more of the useless category. Raising his hand, "Teacher, will I at least be provided with a weapon? I can't be expected to spar without a weapon," He didn't regret not having combat abilities, he relished his intelligence. If he had a fighting ability like the rest of these brutes, he wouldn't be special. He counted his lucky stars, and his amazing dna, that he got an ability superior to everyone else's.

Rose
rose stood up from her seat looking for number ranking 27, to whom shed be sparring with. she didnt have everyones ranks memorized so she felt a bit bad that she didnt know the face or name of her partner. she silently waited for them to finish announcing the partners to begin to call out to anyone who it could be, her tail waving from curiosity. she glanced over at Florian one more time, a bit excited to see his battle.
-
Jaune grinned viciously as he repeatedly flicked his wrist. "Good, good!" he said as he stood up. "Look's like we'll be able to finish our fight number 5." He started walking to the door, his arms behind his head. "I'll see you at the arena teach!" he said before disappearing into the empty hallway. This is what he wanted today, to fight. He needed this rush of adrenaline to feel alive.

(On mobile just got back from the movies.Sorry if it's short)
Honesty I would like to face some of the higher ranks.Heh I can't throw a punch but I could tire them out easily. With increased reflex speed may as well be a given.I don't really want to fight, but I have to. Sometimes I think I am too merciful."Erm...may I keep the metal plates on my arms. I mean I could remove the rest of my armor, but These for deflecting blows from a blade. I fight with my fists so..." Maxwell asked. -
Marius woke up that morning in a room that was just barely big enough to support a bathroom, a bedroom, and a small living space with a makeshift kitchen. So, not ideal, but not the worst. He actually viewed this as 'preferable'.. after all, it doesn't really matter what he gets as long as some people get better living arrangements. After staring off into space a bit (not surprising; he woke up at around five), he got ready for the day ahead. He was really dreading heading into class, as that meant he would probably have to introduce himself or something. Ugh. So he begrudgingly walked into the room he would probably have to spend the next few years in... and walked straight into a fight.
Oh no.
Trying to avoid those specific classmates, he -without thinking- sat in one of the seats in the second to last row. At least no one would really notice him there, right?
So of course, he tried to focus on anything other than all the people in the room for the next few minutes until the teacher paraded in. Then, she just had to mention a controlled fight. Marius' heart started to beat at a slightly faster pace than normal as he considered the possible effects that could have. But a problem much, much worse than that appeared; The teacher -Ms. Loyd- started listing off sparring pairs. One by one, each of the pairs looked around for their partner. But.. Marius wasn't given a partner. He quickly understood this to be a mistake as he was capable of fighting (unfortunately for him), so he tentatively rose his hand. He searched for the right words to say, before kind of squeaking out "Ms. ... Loyd. My rank, 32, was not mentioned.".
