  • WE'RE SURE TO FIND HAPPINESS — riverclan — black tom — tags
Frankie found himself by the river. He was hoping on dipping his paws in the water, maybe relearning how to swim. It had been a few months since he had properly swam and he had grown rusty. So, the black tom impulsively jumped into the rushing waters. He may have been smarter than his older brother, but being headstrong and strong-willed ran in their family. Frankie obviously didn't think about how he would nearly drown, as he coughed and gasped for air. He struggled to keep his head above water as he clung to the riverbank, mustering his strength and pulling himself onto land. The male hacked and panted, droplets beading at his soaking pelt. Huh, maybe he shouldn't have started off in such a strong current. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

    Beautifulspirit

  • Though they were starting to doubt that there would be anything in Riverclan resembling the home planet that they were almost sure didn't exist, Beautifulspirit couldn't deny that they thought it was a very nice place with very nice members. They liked the cave. They liked that they had a room there instead of just their tree -- they felt bad for thinking that, because their tree, with its giant white bow that matched all of the tiny ones in the room, was actually rather nice. They liked the beach, and the river, and how gorgeous it all was. They would never say that Riverclan was better than Shadowclan, but they certainly loved it there, despite having been there for such a short time.

The alienoid Riverclanner was wandering around with their wagon when they heard something that sounded like splashing, and they looked up to see someone they didn't know dragging himself onto the shore. Concerned, Beautifulspirit let go of the wagon and hurried over, worry shining bright in their many eyes as they examined the stranger from what they assumed was an appropriate distance. "Oh, are you alright?" they asked. Hopefully, if there was anything wrong, it would be something easy that they could help with.

Frankie coughed again, feeling a little dazed and out of breath, when he suddenly heard a voice reach his ears. "Oh, are you alright?" The tom hadn't looked up at first, so he hung his head, blinking the water away from his eyes. "Yeah, I--" Once he lifted his gaze to meet the stranger's, he froze. Their eyes... their eyes! They had so many! And their wings, their feathers, their antlers... their monkey-like body and their contrasting canidae cranium. "W-Whoa, uh...!" Frankie stumbled back, ears pinning to the back of his head. His jaw clenched as he fixated his amber gaze on Beautifulspirit's form, trying to figure out what they were, exactly. He had simply come from a town in New Jersey, so he wasn't born in a magical place such as this where there were dragons and fire-breathing wolves running about. He had gotten used to the minor things like conjuration and cats having wings, but this? What was this?

This wasn't to say that Frankie saw them as threatening... at least they didn't seem like it. They seemed concerned for him, and he could tell by their scent that they were a fellow RiverClanner. He wondered how he managed to miss them in the first place, as they were quite the unique sight. "Uh," Frankie gulped, forcing his ears upward and his stance to be somewhat confident. He didn't want to act terrified because one) he didn't want to risk offending them and two) he didn't want to seem like a wimp. There was no doubt that he truly was a submissive type, but he didn't like to come off as one. He was already picked on by Jerseyboy enough for being so scared of things and "holier-than-thou", always being mama's little angel. "I'm... fine. Just took a swim." Well, sort of.

  • Maybe there were some who would have been offended by the male's reaction when he finally looked at Beautifulspirit after recovering, but truth be told, Beautifulspirit had never been so easily shaken up by such responses when they were meeting someone for the first time. It wasn't the worst reaction they'd ever gotten from someone. He just seemed shocked. Beautifulspirit wasn't stupid. They looked weird. That was okay. They were fine with it, for the most part. They had always looked like this. People were always shocked. Why would it bother them at all anymore? It never had, if they were being honest?

Instead of snapping at the stranger for looking so shocked, Beautiful waited for his response to the question, sighing in relief when he said that he was okay. That was their main concern. "That is good," they said quietly, laughing a bit to themself. They weren't laughing about anything that the other Riverclanner had said. They just found it funny that they seemed to have a thing for meeting new people like this. With somebody soaking wet. They were glad that it wasn't them this time. "My name is Beautifulspirit. It is nice to meet you."

Well, they weren't offended. That was good. He'd rather make friends than enemies, after all. Shuffling his paws a little, trying to make himself feel comfortable. The stranger was friendly, despite their shocking appearance, so Frankie needed to put himself in that mindset. "Castelluccio. Frankie Castelluccio." Frankie was very Italian if his accent didn't give that away already. His birth name was Francis, actually, but he didn't bother. Frankie was much a much more casual name and it was easier for others to say. He was never a formal kind of guy. "Nice to, ah, meet ya', Beautifulspirit." Huh, that was certainly a unique name. He wasn't used to these clan names, though, so everything sounded pretty unique to him. Not sure of what else to say, Frankie would ask, "You been livin' here long or..?" Maybe they were new and he just didn't notice them.

  • Beautifulspirit was a little confused by the way Frankie introducted himself at first, partially because they didn't know why he repeated himself, but also because that first thing that he said was so long. Castelluccio? Definitely a last name. They were relieved when this was confirmed by their realization that he'd said his last name, then his full name, because, though they would never dream of saying this out loud, and felt bad for thinking it, anyone who named their kid Castelluccio must truly hate them. Frankie, they thought immediately, was a much better name. They liked it. A lot of people in Riverclan had names that they liked, but that was different.

Frankie asked them a question, and they were about to answer, but suddenly, they heard something behind them, and they looked over their shoulder, shocked to see a small flock of birds forming around the edges of their wagon. "Oi!" they squeaked, darting back over to the wagon to shoo the birds away. They let out a sigh. "Walk away for a second..." they muttered to themself, shaking their head as they pulled the wagon over to where they'd been speaking with Frankie.

The question! "I am sorry, that was rude of me," they said, slightly embarrassed. They could've waited a second, even if it meant losing some of their strawberries to some birds. "Anyways, I... not really. I have only been here for a few days, but I like it very much." They really did. It was nice. "What about you?"

Frankie cocked a brow as Beautifulspirit turned and shooed some birds away from a wagon. He hadn't noticed the wagon until now. Huh, what were they doing dragging that thing around? Didn't it tire them out? He first answered their question, saying with a shrug, "Oh, ah, probably a month or somethin' like that." It hadn't been very long, honestly.

Frankie momentarily glanced over Beautifulspirit's shoulder at the wagon before looking back at them. "So, uh, what's th' wagon for?" He was merely curious, but they didn't have to answer if they didn't want to. It would seem a bit suspicious if they didn't, sure, but he wouldn't force anybody into saying anything.

  • A month. That was longer than Beautifulspirit had even been near the clans. A lot longer. And yet it still wasn't very long. The hybrid took a moment to try and think of a response, which was sort of hard, as they weren't very good with small talk. Fortunately, before it got to the point where it would have been awkward for Beautifulspirit to answer, Frankie pointed out their wagon, and they brightened visibly -- literally. All components of their appearance that could glow, glowed. And that was quite a lot of glowing. "It is, um... I found it a day or two ago, and it was just full of strawberries, and I think that it was left for me. But there are a lot less strawberries in it now, so I was going to use it to bring something else here."

Beautifulspirit paused for a moment. "I actually have some strawberry plants. Somewhere else. And it is not very sunny there, so I believed that it would be a good idea to bring them here where it is sunny." They looked over at the wagon for a second before looking at Frankie again. "Would you like some?"
