  • Cinderfang could scarcely come to terms with what had just happened. Not only was her dear, beloved nephew leaving, he was stepping down from his position as leader. And he had requested, of all cats, her to step up in his place. A cat with no prior leadership experience, only knowing how to order around her children, was now in charge of ordering the whole of ShadowClan.

The Russian blue sat in the leader's den for much longer than anticipated. She had no idea how to tell ShadowClan what had happened. But, unfortunately, it was inevitable. They would come looking for Loststar soon enough, and the truth would reveal itself. Thus, she emerged and leaped up to speak to the clan. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a clan meeting!" The moment after the words left her mouth, a chill raced down her spine. It was so odd, even saying something as simple as those words. Undoubtedly, her clan would be confused as to why she was calling this meeting, and why. All would be revealed shortly.

  • small ears pricked with a clear display of interest, the girl's eyes, blue grey in hue and bland, squinted up at her great aunt. she paused for a moment before padding closer, distantly aware of the damp earth beneath her paws and the balls of mud between her paw pads. she could only speculate what this was all about, and normally wouldn't have paid much attention- but it wasn't loststar that was at the head of the meeting this time. so, she was naturally curious, especially about the expression on cinderfang's face. it was one that she hadn't seen before.

  • The voice of her mother drew the small apprentice away from her thoughts as she hopped over taking a seat underneath Cinder. Looking up with big eyes she stared with confusion at her kin. Where was Lost? Did something happen. Blue despite her never ending apparent nativity understood more then she let on. Guessing that Lost may of left the clan and left the she-cat calling the meeting in charge. Cinder was a good choice in Blue's eyes. Kind and loyal she'd make a great leader within shadow clan.
  • Flax, oblivious to the things going on, however his roleplayer was pretty clued in
so he wrapped his tail around his paws and looked up at Cinderfang.
What's going on? he wondered. What happened to this Loststar guy? is he named this
because they keep losing him? he bit back laughter. Hoping noone saw. #savage
Last he was in SC Snakestar was leader. Things have definitely changed.

  • Steelkit saw that they were gathering and wanted to join them. He was old enough but he had not yet gotten paw'd. He sat beside a bush and tried to look in-Place, which was easy for Steelkit. He puffed out his chest and watched Cinderfang carefully. Would he get his Paw now? He didn't know so he just sat there quietly.

  • This was it. A good number of her Clanmates had gathered, so Cinderfang decided it was an appropriate time to begin. Any other cats would very likely be filled in within seconds of arriving anyhow, with news like this. She took a deep breath, closing her eyes briefly to calm her heart, and offered a meek smile towards her daughter Bluepaw before speaking.

"My dear Clanmates, it is with a heavy heart I inform you that Loststar, our leader, has stepped down from his position as leader and left ShadowClan." She gave a pause after this, allowing her words to sink in properly before continuing. "He called me moments before he departed, telling me of his intentions and making his will clear: Loststar has asked me to step up as the next leader of ShadowClan. I plan on travelling to the Moonstone tomorrow to visit our ancestors and receive my nine lives. I will have Jaggedsight accompany me. I know this is sudden, but I promise to lead you with strength. ShadowClan will be the most powerful clan in the forest."

Her speech revealed more emotion than she typically showed, but Cinderfang knew her usual broody tone wouldn't cut it for a situation as serious as this. Her Clanmates needed to know she cared and that she was going to be here for them, in whatever they may need. The warrior - well, leader now - was going to show her clan that Loststar had made a wise choice in appointing her. She wouldn't let them down; on the contrary, she would lead them to greatness.

  • LICHEN;;

This being the first meeting he had been around for, he had no clue what the call even meant. He had been resting near the edge of the camp, instinctively preferring to sick to recognizable landmarks rather than walking blindly through the vast expanse of unfamiliar land that was the inner camp clearing. When he heard her say that Loststar had left, he was mildly surprised. From the minimal encounters the tom had with the ex-leader, he hadn't pegged him as the type to leave the clan that easily. Whatever. It just meant that the leader was now somebody that he somewhat respected. And, to be honest, it made the most sense. Females had the most power when it came to familial units, which the clan seemed to imitate on a larger level, and the eldest queen would normally have the most control and respect due to her wisdom. Overall, he felt comfortable about the change, not even bothering to open his eyes at the shared news.

  • Shade stepped forward, however much Cinderfang irked her sometimes she respected the blue-furred queen. She knew she didn't qualify to become a new deputy, all she could do was support whoever did step up. She nodded to Cinderfang, affirming that she would support the cat she grudgingly admired. "You'll make a great leader." she mewed clearly, realising she wasn't standing quite as far away from their new leader as would be generally considered polite. "I trust you."

  • Steelkit ghasped in astonishment. He had been here to witness Cinderfang become a leader! That was really great! He liked the she-cat and she was one of the only cats to interact with him. He felt a weird sense of sadness too, Loststar was gone and a new, strong leader had taken his Place. The circle of Life, or more accurate, leadership. He Waited for Cinderfang to say something more, his hopeful expression stared at her. He could not hold his mouth shut any longer and said out loud: "CinderSTAR, CinderSTAR!"

  • the little pointed girl stiffened, the tip of her tail giving a few hesitant jerks that betrayed her disbelief; why? her mind slowed and felt sluggish, the only thing on her mind was 'why' as she recalled loststar's gentle face. he was leaving her and her siblings behind without even a goodbye, not a warm word of farewell, heavy with meaning that they wouldn't understand until later. at least, not to her.

biting at her lip, abused and bleeding brokenly by this point, she remained utterly silent, yet more tense than usual, her head hung low between her shoulders. she was being left alone again. she didn't care about her true father or even her mother, for starclan's sake, loststar was the only one- the only one!- that she had cared for... and he was gone. bitterly, she swung her head as she turned to walk slowly at first, towards the entrance. slowly gaining speed until her short legs were flying across the patches of dry and damp earth, the ever present swampy scent never an issue for her, and she was gone. quickly, she wove through the pine forest and sparse undergrowth, still somewhat unfamiliar with the territory and even more quickly growing lost.

her emotions had always gotten the better of her, they always did in the end. and no matter how relaxed or calm or grounded she seemed, she wasn't perfect- she didn't know how to display affection or much of anything, often settling for doing small favors or going out of her way without a word. and now, those emotions, raw and uncultured, ran beside her, howling in pain and anger. her face was twisted similarly, tears threatening to cloud her vision.

though it wasn't long before exhaustion caught up to her, as she was still fresh from the nursery and relatively untrained thus far. at some point, one when she couldn't care to remember, she had slowed to a walk, sides heaving with sobs and labored breaths alike. she meandered aimlessly through the woods so far, and had no desire to return home. no- home was where loststar was, shadowclan wasn't her home anymore. but she had nowhere else to go, and upon realizing this, she groaned softly and leaned against a coniferous tree, their needles cool against her flushed paws.

  • Hawkpaw arrived just in time to hear his mother's announcement, plunging in beside his sister to listen with pricked ears and a disbelieving expression. Loststar had left? Why? Hadn't they only just lost a leader, and now Loststar had just upped and left for apparently no reason at all. Had StarClan given her a sign? No. StarClan - and Loststar - wouldn't leave us if the Clan was in trouble.

With a glance at Steelkit, who had begun to cheer Cinderfang - no, Cinderstar - the brown tabby rose to his paws and dipped his head to the new leader of ShadowClan. "Congratulations," he murmured respectfully, trying to put across a pleased front even though inside his belly was doing somersaults. Cinderfang would be head of the Clan. Cinderfang would be in more danger than she had before as a warrior. Cinderfang wouldn't have as much time for him as she had before.

    "StarClan has chosen wisely."

  • She found an odd form of comfort in Lichen's and Shade's approval. While they hadn't had the most pleasant of interactions in the past, she liked both of them, finding the two strong additions to the clan. Loststar had been wise in taking them in. Thus, the new leader gave them a thankful nod before swiveling an ear in the direction of Steelkit, cheeks warming slightly. "I'm not Cinderstar just yet. I still need the ancestor's approval." That, of course, was the most important factor.

Following, it did not escape her attention that Vervainpaw slipped out of camp, likely wounded. Own heart heavy, Cinderfang was conscious of the fact that her mind was clouded with the absence of Loststar. Vervainpaw had not just lost a leader, but also a father - one who hadn't given her as much courtesy as a formal farewell. It had to be gnawing at her soul. So, the charcoal cat made a mental note to approach her later to see if she could aid comforting her.

Finally, she stepped down from the Clanrock to greet Hawkpaw, her dear son. A relieved smile coating her maw at the familiar, loving face, she murmured gently, "Thank you."

  • Shade nodded, understanding. She'd suspected as much. "Just as I am simply Shade until the Clan decides otherwise." she mewed wryly, noticing with concern that Loststar's daughter - Vervainpaw, that was it - looked broken somehow, as if her soul had been shattered. The poor cat... she'd lost someone so close to her, he hadn't even stuck around long enough to say goodbye. At least Shade saw her family in her dreams, Vervainpaw didn't even get that much.

  • Finding Shade's gaze, Cinderfang noted her predicament with concern. The silver tabby had much potential and had adapted swimmingly to clan life; she was more than deserving of a warrior name. Thus, she meowed in response, "As soon as I return from the Moonstone, I will be sure to take care of that matter. You'll be given your proper clan name." It was only appropriate, after all.

  • "Give her some room people, she just heard this news she needs time to figure out things." Greyclaw mumbed as he looked upon his sister. He was shocked by all of this, his little sister leader of ShadowClan. He would of never guessed it when they were just kits. He always thought he would be leader, but his sister swooped in and got the position... he laughed to himself about the times when he would come on top, always the one pinning her to the ground in there tranning.. but she got her warrior name first.. and then after that being deputy. It was all a strange thing.

  • Shade smirked as she heard the other cat speak, she couldn't possibly think of a cat less needing gentleness than Cinderfang. She chose not to respond to Greyclaw and instead smiled tiredly at Cinderfang, nodding respectfully to her new leader. Leader. Well, what did you know - the grumpy furball outranked her even further. Oh what joy. Somehow though, all Shade could feel was a little sad at how distant Cinderfang could only be now. "Thankyou, Cinderfang - but it's no rush. Really. I'm sure there are far more important things to do, like cleaning up leadership messes."

i think the shadester has a little crush

  • Dreamcloud, like the others, were feeling the loss of Loststar. He had given her the warruor name of Dreamcloud, and lead the clan for several successful moons. Even with the fire over a moon ago, because of him the clan had survived and even thrived when the prey came back. "Cinderfang will make a good leader." Though I am worried she has not had any leader experience. But if Loststar approved of her, then I shall also.

  • Falconbreeze stood beside his brother, Grayclaw, smiling at his sister. "You deserve it, Cinderfang." he purred, flicking his tail. "We've gained a loyal leader in you." Falconbreeze winked at Cinderfang, and, turning, the tom left the cats gathered around his sister, looking for a quiet space to contemplate. He'd always imagined that Grayclaw would be the most successful, as his brother had always been victorious in their mock battles while they were all apprentices. But Cinderfang had the grace and adaptability that many cats looked for in a leader. She'd gotten her warrior name first, and once she'd become deputy, Falconbreeze had seen the potential that she held hidden inside of herself.

The Russian Blue's paws turned him towards the exit to the ShadowClan camp, and he left the celebration of sorts behind him as he wove his way between pines and thickets of bramble. Loststar had left behind his kits.. which meant that Vervainpaw and the others were without family left in the Clan. Falconbreeze had noticed that Vervainpaw had looked broken at the news that her father had left her. She had looked as if her heart had shattered, and so, with this in his head, the tom scented the air for the apprentice, finally locating the direction in which she had taken. He set off.

  • Stormpaw couldn't believe Loststar had just left. Why would he want to leave? Why would he just up and leave without even telling them all goodbye? Of course, he felt happy for his mother. She was the leader of the clan, and that was definitely awesome! But the fact that Loststar had left them without a single word was not awesome.

Weaving his way through the crowd to get to Cinderfang, he reached up to touch his nose to her cheek. "I'm so happy for you!" he meowed in his usual loud voice, his paws shuffling on the ground. "Leader of Shadowclan, who would've thought? I'll have to admit, it'll be pretty weird to call you Cinderstar, but it'll be a good kind of weird! You're gonna be a great leader!" His rambling came out so fast his mother may not have had time to catch all of it, but it still tumbled out of his mouth anyways. He paused to catch his breath, his eyes darting to the Clanrock as invisible brows furrowed on his face. He had always imagined Loststar being up there, but now the realization that he would probably never see his old leader struck him, and he turned back to face Cinderfang. "But, why did Loststar leave?" he asked her, tilting his head to the side.

  • JaggedSight
"So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one would ever change this animal I have become
And help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal"
    OOC:
IC: Because.. Loststar's... a.. mousebrained... traitor...! Jaggedsight thought, fur fluffing out. Yet another another leader to abandon ShadowClan. All the more reason to stay training to fight. ShadowClan may someday need all the cats to fight, medicine Cat or not. Best get his traveling herbs ready. Without a word, Jaggedsight vanished from sight, like a shadow, back into his den to get ready.
