  • ooh that sounds like a great idea^^

Val was barely able to adjust to the bright sky and the white lights that still filled her vision from earlier. Through her daze, she had to hold back a sob of relief–she was alive. She didn't have to worry about causing her family more pain and anguish than they already went through. She could tell her brother she was breathing and okay... more or less. There was yet another dull pain in her side, and her hand that had the IV traveled to the gash, and she winced. When did she get that? She didn't remember being cut.

Her light gaze switched from the sky to where she heard footsteps–fast footsteps–and she saw blonde hair out of the corner of her eye. Her tense frame relaxed a bit, and she could see the uncertainly in Annie's eyes. "Annie," she whispered when she saw the girl getting closer.

  • -I'm glad, because I'm not usually good at plotting lol-

Annie squeaked happily when she saw the now conscious girl laying on the stretcher. Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks, but before she got any closer, she ran into something tall, and hard. Before she could fall backwards a pair of rough hands grabbed her shoulders to keep her steady. Annie's dizzy eyes looked up at the man dressed in scrubs. "Please, forgive me, ma'am. My name is Doctor Jones, and I'll be treating your friend. Though we're lucky to have her alive, she is still suffering from a deep stab wound. We're going to have to keep her here for a couple days, and she can't have visitors. She's very unstable." He said matter-o-factly, but his eyes shone with sympathy.

Annie's heart fell to the bottom of her stomach at the news and she peered sadly around the doctor, and gave Val a reassuring smile.

-i have to go plaay board games, I'll be back in a hour or so :/-

  • alright!

Val saw Annie give her a reassuring smile as she looked past the doctor that would be taking care of her, and all she could do was smiled weakly in return. All her energy had been drained since those grueling moments of the EMTs reviving her, begging her to come back. The fatigue was beginning to set in, but she forced herself to stay awake again. She couldn't go to sleep. Not now. If she did, she probably wouldn't wake up. She probably would never wake up.

Letting the thought slip to the back of her mind, she watched as the doctor turned back to Val, an empty expression on his face. She couldn't blame him–he had to deal with patients and visitors like this, it was part of his job. At the same time, he couldn't let Annie see her friend who she had worried about for just one second. That was really the only thing that crossed her mind.

  • Annie watched as they wheeled her into the hospital in her stratcher, and she walked over to some of the staff who was closing the ambulance. "Did she have her phone with her? I know I can't see her but I should tell her family she's okay.." she said shyly. They nodded at her, and pointed to a man in scrubs who was following the stretcher. She said her thanks before jogging towards the enterance.

She chatted some with the man in scrubs before he let her have her bag. He just asked her questions and what not to make sure her belongings would be safe. She assured him she knew her and went to sit down in the waiting room. She pulled out Val's phone and opened to lock screen to see dozens of messages from someone, who Annie assumed to be her brother base on the contact name.

Suddenly Annie saw the officer who she rode with earlier rush into the hospital, an enraged expression on his face as he spotted Annie. "Annemarie Fox you're under arrest for the kidnapping of almost a dozen girls. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in a court of law!" He said rushing over to annie, and confused and shocked look on her face.

  • Val kept her hand on the wound, holding back a scream. When did this happen? All she remembered between her kidnapping and reviving was the injection, with Allison Rhodes leaning over her. That was it. Nothing else came to mind. Then, she heard an outraged voice not too far off, and she let her head fall to the side to see what was going on.

A police officer was heading to her–no, to Annie–reciting that phrase she had heard on Law and Order so many times she had it memorized. She tried to sit up, but bit her lip when another round of agony coursed through her. "Annie?" she said quietly in order to get her friend's attention. Her gaze then switched to the police officer, with the EMT who brought her back heading over to Val. "What did she do? Why is she being arrested? Please tell me!" Of course, that didn't come with an answer, and all she could do was lay back down on the stretcher and let the fatigue take over her, sending her back down into silence.

  • Annie's hands trembled as they were aggressively pulled behind her back, causing her to gasp. "N-No I didn't do anything!" She shrieked. She didn't have a mean bone in her body, and she had a completely clean record. Why in the world was she being arrested? Was it because she was the first one to find Val, and they had no other leads? Tears started brimming as she was escorted outside. Those handcuffs were going to leave a gnarly mark.

Annie was pushed into the back of the police car, though she would've rather he let her sit down comfortable before slamming the door in her face. "S-Sir.. Wh.. I didn't!" She manage to mutter out before bursting into hysteric sops. She looked up and saw the cop glance up at her in the rear view mirror, and thought she saw a bit of regret in his eyes. Good! Annie obviously did nothing wrong! "Ma'am, please stay calm until we get to the police station and take you in for questioning." He said calmly, no emotion to his voice.

"A-Am I going to have to go to.. jail? O-Or prison?" She asked in between sobs. "Only if you're proven guilty, Annie." He said, using her name? She frowned and looked out of the car window. It was around three or four in the afternoon. Annie's mom was probably home, not even realizing her only daughter is gone. No one would bail her out of jail, innocent or otherwise. She had no one. Not in this life. By the time they had arrived at the police station her sops had stopped, and she was just sitting there quietly.

  • Val listened as Annie was taken to the police station, and all she could do it lay there, not being able to speak, not being able to move, nothing, once again. She felt herself being wheeled into the ICU, and her heartbeat quickened, her breathing becoming shallower. She heard someone say they were losing her again, but she wanted to tell them they weren't losing her. The emotions hit her all at once, not just her brush with death. Her family, her brother, was worried sick, probably thinking she was dead. Annie was just taken from her again, but she would come back. She had to come back. There was no way she was going to face this alone. There was–

"Val!" a voice, a male voice, cried, and the girl opened her eyes slowly to find her brother rushing toward her, his face a mix of shock, concern, and relief. The doctors let him pass, and she felt his arms wrap around her. He buried his head in her shoulder, and she felt soft sobs escaping, causing him to shudder. "Val... god, I thought I lost you... they said that you were... they were just about to give up and... and call it when you finally came back..." Val heard him choke up, and all she could do was hug him tighter, feeling the tears soak into his shirt. Before she could say anything, she felt him being pulled away from her, leaving her alone again.

  • The young officer, maybe in his early twenties, came out of the car and opened the door. He grabbed her shoulder and pulled her out of the car, dragging her to the police station. He must have really thought she was guilty. Annie's worse fear was, well, heights, but other than that adults being mad at her. Whether it was her teachers, or her peers of any sorts. But especially officers of the freaking law. Who thought she was guilty of a dozen attempted murders.

The lady at the front desk looked up and narrowed her eyes. "Hello, officer Jameson. She'll be in interrogation room three." She said, a touch of venom coating her words. What evidence did they have? Quiet, unremarkable, straight a student, never spoke back to anyone in her whole life. Why her? Officer Jameson lead the silently sobbing teenager to what was assumed to be interrogation room three and pushed her inside. "Sit down, there." He said pointing at a rather uncomfortable looking, and broken chair. Annie obeyed and sat down, where he chained her handcuffs to the table.

"Wait here." He said, not giving an explanation. Noting. He must've assumed she already knew why she was here. But she had no- wait. The knif- Annie's thoughts were cut short as a taller, older, hairier, and meaner man stepped into the room and slammed the door closed. He must've been trying to scare Annie, and boy, it worked. Tears continued to pool in her eyes but she willed herself to calm down, and think clearly. She didn't want to say the wrong thing and end up in prison for the rest of her life, cause god knows that's the American legal system.

"Annemarie Lane Fox." He said slamming a vanilla folder on the table as he sat across from her. "You've found your way into a whole lot of trouble, here, huh missy." He said, narrowing his eyes at her. "S-Sir. My friend was s-s-stabbed. I.. I didn't do it!" She couldn't help it. She looked as weak as she was. She was just a kid, who stayed out of trouble's way for all 17 years of her life just for her only friend to be stabbed and to end up being accused of the stabbing.

  • Once Tyler had been taken out of the room, Val turned her head to watch the lines on the monitor spike up and down, and she was more fixated on her heart rate, in case it stopped beating again. Her vision was still dark, the green lights the only things that she could see, the only things that stood out. It was ironic that she was hoping that Annie was okay, when she was the one that had been killed and brought back.

She knew her friend didn't do a single thing, she only had the knife for protection and what not. Val also knew that Annie had the girl's phone on her, so she could show the officers proof that she hadn't gotten there when Val was drugged and stabbed. She hoped the police would show the blonde some mercy at least. In a world where people pushed her around left and right, where she almost lost Val, mercy was really all that she deserved.

  • The officer's expression softened. He had obviously been trying to play bad cop before. Maybe he believed Annie was innocent. He pulled out a briefcase and opened it. Annie couldn't see into it very well, but she saw some plastic sandwich baggie ish things, and guessed it was evidence of sorts. He pulled out the kitchen knife, and confirmed Annie's suspicion. "Ms. Fox, could you explain to me why this was found at the crime scene, with only your fingerprints on it.

Annie took a deep breath and nodded. She started rambling, and told him every detail of her day starting when she got home, and saw the amber alerts so she got it for protection, to when Val texted her and needed her help, and she took it with her. She told the story not missing a detail. She told him about when she found the two paralyzed girls, and simply had to help them even though they treated her so poorly.

Finally she ended her spiel with this sentence. "I left the knife behind when the ambulance took her, went to the hospital, got arrested, now I'm here." She sighed. The tears had subsided but the sadness for Val still lingered in the back of her mind. He nodded, and put the bag back in the case along with her file. He stood up, smiled warmly at her, then left. Soon, though. Officer Jameson came back in, and undid her chains. "You will be escorted back to the hospital, unless you'd prefer to go home." He said, still frowning at her. She couldn't care less. She stood up and followed him into the lobby, before a kind middle aged officer walked in.

The woman would be to drive her to the hospital. They had a nice conversation on the way about the officer's three sons. Ages seven, thirteen, and seventeen. Her oldest son actually went to the same high school as Annie, but she didn't recognize his name. They pulled up to the hospital and the officer dropped her off and drove away. Annie walked into the lobby without hesitaion, her and Val's bags and phones still laying in the same spot she left them in.

  • Valerie heard the door open, and she tore her gaze from her vitals to find a woman in a clean white coat coming over to her, stopping to check her blood pressure and the IV. When she had asked her when she would be released, the only thing the woman said was, "Soon," before walking back out of the room and closing the door behind her, only for someone else to follow–her mother. For a second, Val was confused–they said they weren't allowing visitors, so why was her mother here? Did they change their minds?

The brunette wrapped her arms around the older woman, holding her close and sobbing into her shoulder, running her hands through her hair. "Valerie... thank god you're okay... Tyler told me everything... about what happened at school, and..." The woman took a deep breath and pulled away, cupping her chin in her hand, seeming to read the younger girl's expression, her doubts, her worries. "There's a girl waiting in the lobby... a blonde. She has your bags... I don't know who she is, but she seems pretty shaken up..."

  • Annie was sitting in a waiting chair with her knees hugged to her chest, Valerie's bag occupying the seat to her right, and her own bag on her left. She watched as a woman who seemed to be in her mid to late fourties came in. She shared an awful lot of features with Val and Annie had to wonder if that was her mother. She watched as the panicked woman told the woman at the counter her situation and the woman gave her a room number. As she was leaving the lobby she locked eyes with Annie, looked at Val's bag, briefly smiled at Annie, then left.

Annie sighed. Maybe Val was doing better. She stood from her spot, a bag slung over each shoulder and she walked to the counter. "Is Valerie able to have visitors?" She asked, and the woman flashed her a warm smile. "Your friend is in a stable condition and she may have visitors at this time. Room 4D." Annie peeked up and walked to the elevators. Floor four room D. She quickly poked the button which instantly lit up. The doors closed and she ascended towards Val. "Don't worry Valerie. You're safe now." She whispered to herself as the doors of the elevator opened and she walked down the halls until she found it. Room D. She twisted the knob and pushed open the door. "Valerie?" She asked quietly into the room.

  • Val watched once again as her mother left the room, with another girl replacing her. A blonde, with her face red and blotchy, tears running down her face. She had hesitantly walked in, and she smiled, reaching out to grab the girl's hand. "Annie... I hope everything went well at the station, because... I kind of don't want to be alone now... I'm... I'm scared of it just being be in the room and... and somethings going to happen again and... and that'll be the end of it."

When she had finished talking, her hands were slightly shaking, and she sat upslowly, an empty expression on her face. She had already gone through pain twice, she didn't need to go through it again.

  • Annie walked quickly to the bed and held Val's hand in hers, squeezing it gently. "Oh, don't worry Valerie. I'll be here. I'll never leave as long as you need me here. You're the first person in this world to ver show me compassion. There's no way I can leave you now. I'll keep you safe Val. I promise.." she said holding back her tears for Val's sake. She pulled up a chair with one hand, still holding Val's with the other, and sat. She sat next to Valerie. Her only friend. The only person she had in this entire world. The person she was quickly falling in love with.

The minutes ticked by and Annie kept her gaze fixed on the door. Annie knew the killer was still out there. Plotting. They could be anywhere. Doing anything. Yet Annie had a fear deep in her heart that they'd come back to finish the job.

  • ooc; I'm not so sure about this, but the plot that I have is maybe Val could get out of the hospital early because of an incident, but it turns out to be the killer, plotting to kill either Annie or Val?

Val smiled as Annie sat down next to the hospital bed, still holding her hand. She listened to her reassuring words, but that didn't do much. She couldn't help but think that she had caused all this. She had this happen to her. All because she had given a few people dirty looks for how they treated Annie. All because she hung out with Annie. Her status was lowered,, but it was still there, taunting her. But why was she worried about her status when she had died? She was doing what she had to do, and she paid the price of it, even if it was just for a little while.

Now, her mind was trying to piece together who it was that drugged her. The woman leaning over her after she had injected her was a redhead, with blue eyes. There was only one person she knew that had that appearance. Allison Rhodes. The girl that had hated her since the moment she had started out as a weak freshman. Allison was the one that kidnapped and killed dozens of girls. Allison was the one that killed her, but at least Val stuck around, to show that she couldn't stop her.

  • Annie sighed. Her eyes dropping slightly to look at the wound in Val's abdomen. "I'm so sorry Val.." she mumbled. She couldn't imagine the pain Val had gone through. Alone. In the darkness. Annie's heart ached for her. "D-Did you happen to see who stabbed you?" She asked, hoping not to upset her with the question. Whoever did this needed to be stopped before they really killed someone. Whatever maniac did this to Val. It didn't matter who they were. Annie was beyond pissed.

Annie's phone vibrated in her pocket and she was stunned to see her mother had texted. All these years and she'd never gotten a notification from that number. 'Where are you, you little bitch. You didn't die did you?' Annie had mixed feelings about the text. A tear slipped out from her eye and she quickly wiped it away. Her mom probably only asked cause she expect annie to cook dinner or something.

-Maybe Val and Annie can try and turn Allison in, but she pleads innocent and comes back for revenge on them or something-

  • that sounds like a good idea^^

Val processed Annie's question, though she already knew the answer. "I-I think it was Allison... Allison Rhodes. The girl who we walked past yesterday, and she gave me a dirty look like she hated me, like... like she wanted to hurt me..." She stopped when she heard a buzz, and she saw Annie take out her phone, and soon after, there was a tear that escaped her eye, but the blonde wipes it away. Val could tell it was Annie's mother, judging by the tension in her body, and she wanted to see what the text was that caused her friend to... get like how she was. The again, she knew that everyone had their boundaries and their reasons of what privacy was, so she sat back, looking down at the wound that appeared a dark red.

"I-I know that they said I would be getting out of here in a couple of days, but I feel like it's going to be sooner than that. There's no way that there's someone out there waiting for other girls to kidnap and kill while I'm over here laying useless in a hospital," she said, her hands shaking once she had stopped talking.

  • Annie rubbed circles in the back of Val's hand with her thumb. "Allison.." She whispered, almost hissed. She was the b*tchiest and sluttiest girl in the entire high school. Annie wasn't sure if she thought she could kill, but she didn't have any distrust for Val. "When you do feel better, we can go straight to police. Do you just think it's her? Or did you see her?" She asked gently. She didn't wanna pry, but she also didn't want to just be immediately turned away from the police.

Annie's phone buzzed again, but she just ignored it. Her mom could starve for now. Annie usually worked at the nearby target after school to help her mom pay rent (by help she means she pays rent), but work was the last thing on her mind. "We'll get through this together, though. I hope you know that." She said smiling warmly at her black haired friend.

  • Val smiled at Annie, though she felt slightly out on edge when she asked if she saw her hurt her or if she just thought it was her. "I-I saw her. She was the one that injected me, she was leaning over me before I passed out. I remember it," she whispered, her voice cracking with each word. "I remember every single detail. She had said that she had waited years just to lay her hands on me. To hurt me. She said that I didn't need to worry. That it would all be over soon." By the time she was finished talking, there were tears threatening to spill, but she forced them back.

Allison was always the one that was planning things. She was part of her clique, and she was one of the main planners. She seemed to have an infatuation with her, and not in a good way. It was almost like she was jealous, but jealous eneough to kill her.

  • Annie saw the tears polling in Val's eyes and immediately regretted asking the question. Annie cupped her face with her free hand and ran her thumb gently across her cheekbone in a comforting manner. "You sure showed her, though. Look at you. B-Better than ever." She said forcing a smile looked genuine on the outside, but her heart ached on the inside. "I'll call in the tip, okay? It will be fine. I promise." She said. It'll be fine. She repeated that a million times in her head but it didn't seem true.

Allison was never good news. She sashayed around the school like she owned it. She messed up people's lives like she had the right. She ended people's lives, as is she had. The. F*cking. Right. Annie's blood boiled but she remained calm and collected on the outside for Val. She'd do anything for Val. Annie cussed at herself in her head. She probably was coming off super clingy, wasn't she.
