Bluekit, soon BluePaw woke up inside the nursery to his mother licking him Clean. His fluffy, blue pelt could get really Dirty if he didn't Watch out. "Mom! I can wash my self!" He rose to his paws and backed away, licking himself a bit self-councious. He was very focused on trying to act worthy as he walked out of the nursery sitting down quietly with his chest puffed out. "Its okay mother, I will make you proud!" He smiled at his mother who looked a bit sad, he was the only kitten who had survived in her litter and she was a loner who the clan had helped kitting him. She could not stay any longer but she didn't want him with her, clan Life was a big opportunity for him and she wanted him to be safe and happy. As soon as he got turned into an apprentice she would have to go, and Bluekit(Paw) would have to say goodbye. He wondered again who his mentor would be, he hoped a big and strong fighter that could teach him his or her best moves!

(Shadey can mentor him, she's a hard taskmaster but nicer than she pretends to be)
Shade flicked her tail, the silvery ex-rogue secretly enjoyed watching the kits at the heart of Clan life. With a purr, she stood and padded over to the blue-furred kit and his mother. "Hey, shortstuff. How do you feel about learning some battle moves?" the amber-eyed molly mewed teasingly, giving the kit's tail a gentle tweak for good measure. "You're going to be... what do they call it, an apprentice? Yeah. One of them, soon." she added, whiskers twitching in amusement. The kit would have to grow up sometime, and Shade felt she could at least help him before a mentor was chosen.
-
The sun warmed his blue pelt and he saw a warrior walk up to him, it was Shadewing. Bluekit Eyes shone up as she spoke. "Really!? Yeah, please!... Oh if mother approoves." His mother nodded quietly as she settled down in the Sunlight to take a nap. He fluffed up his fur and looked Confident. "Im going to be the best apprentice ever!" He flicked his tail excitedly.
-
Shade couldn't keep the smile from her face, the usually grumpy tabby found this kit amusing. "I'm sure you will be." she agreed, leading the way from the den and out into the camp.
The lithe she-cat dropped into a crouch, waiting for Bluekit to copy her. "Most things we use to hunt can also be used as fighting techniques." she explained to him.
(Shade hasn't got her full name yet :) She's not Shadewing until the next meeting.)
-
He listened and watched carefully as Shade dropped into her crouch and tried to copied her. "Like this?" He was very focused on doing it right but he was leaning a bit to the left without noticing it.
Low muse attack.
-
"You're a little crooked."
The blunt comment came from Cinderfang, who had no trouble walking over to Bluekit and aiming to re-adjust the child a little more to the right so he was properly balanced. "There. Now prey won't be staring at a cat who flung himself too far to the left." While her tone had a tendency to be a bit harsh, perhaps even unkind, it was clear in her warm eyes that she was only attempting to aid Bluekit. -
Shade smirked, and she looked up at the taller cat. "Well, I suppose you're the expert." she drawled. "After all, I'm sure you got your crouch perfect first try."
The tabby padded over to Bluekit and tweaked his swishing tail. "Keep this still, and keep it low. It gives away what you're going to do. When you're ready, pounce on Cinderfang over there. I'm sure she'd love to help you learn fighting techniques."
-
He tried to fix his position. Bluekit nodded and kept his tail low and tried not to lean to the left. He made himself ready to jump and then pounced on Cinderfang. "Hah! I got you!"
(EDit: Sorry the low muse, i get brainfarts when im hungry
-
"Of course I was perfect - how else do you think I became this esteemed?" came her quick-tongued response, giving no hints of either joking or seriousness before she turned her focus back towards Bluekit, who hurled himself towards her. Cinderfang, understanding a certain level of encouragement was necessary for a child, made herself an easy target for Bluekit to strike. Falling over so that the kit could stand triumphantly over her, the warrior murmured, "If I were a mouse, I'd say you caught me." There was still the prospect of the killing bite, but that could be taught to him later by his mentor.
-
Shade purred, it amused her to see the grumpy blue-grey cat sprawling in the dust. "I think if you were an enemy warrior, you'd be pinned." she mewed drily. "Care to demonstrate a feint, however? Don't break him. Bluekit, I want to see how you react."
/muse be dead for tonight
-
"Yeah, okay!" He looked down on his paws and flexed his claws after looking up again.
Muse goes
Down Down Down Down...
-
Scoffing, she retorted, "If this was a real fight, I'd take down this little pipsqueak." Then, glancing to Bluekit, she added in a tone that wasn't necessarily apologetic, "No offense." Chuckling at the next suggestion, however, to be used as target practice, Cinderfang shrugged, eyeing Bluekit to essentially say 'bring it on'.
-
Shade snorted, casually tweaking one of Cinderfang's whiskers as she padded past. "Maybe sometime, he'll take you down." she suggested teasingly. The tabby eyed Cinderfang as she waited for a reaction, jerking her head as to say "get on with it".
"By a feint, I mean playing beaten? That feint?" she drawled, seeing that apparently she'd been misunderstood. "Do Clan cats not do that anymore?"
-
Slapping Shade harmlessly with her tail in retaliation, she shot back a glance that said she hadn't quite started yet, though that was a lie. Frankly, Cinderfang wasn't in the mood to do a series of demonstrations. An elder by personality yet not by age, she found it exhausting being around youthful cats sometimes. Still, she supposed she had no choice now.
Dropping to the ground, she went limp under Bluekit, seeing how he responded to such a scenario. -
Steelkit is mah new name seeing as BLue was taken lol. Dont really know how to reply to that?
As Cinderfang Went limp Steelkit jumped on her and tried to paw her on her shoulders without falling off.
Sry low muse today. 'Suppose im just waiting for my break to Greece lol.
-
ooc: i've got low muse too, it's 33 degrees and i'm dying from heat
The second Steelkit's paws touched her shoulder, she rolled over, hoping to unbalance the kit and cause him to fall off. It would give him something to consider next time he practiced this move, for it wasn't an uncommon retaliation. -
Steelkit fell to the ground but quickly rose to his paws. "Wow! Will I learn how to do that when i become an apprentice? He felt a rush of joy; he was soon an apprentice and could go out and hunt outside camp. He saw a bug crawling on the ground nearby and dropped into the crouch he had been learned earlier. He stalked it with small quiet steps and then pounced on it. "Hehe... Gotcha." He realized they were looking at him and gave them an akward smile.
-
The Russian blue fought a maternal smile upon hearing his thrilled squeak. It reminded her of when her own children were mere kits, eagerly awaiting apprenticeship. There was no doubt Steelkit would make an excellent warrior one day, with drive like that. Tail flicking as she bent her head to smooth her fur, Cinderfang meowed, "You will. Your mentor can teach you that and more."
-
(yo, she's not a russian blue. russian blues ain't fluffy, they're shorthaired. I used to have one.)
Shade nodded, affirming Cinderfang's response. "Yes, you'll learn things like that. Fighting is about using your head, not just your muscles." she mewed. "Plenty of cats will be tricked just like you were, even those who know the move."
