Walking With Dinosaurs

Gather around, children, and I will tell you a story. This may look like the past of our ancestors when giant beasts walked and ruled the earth, but it is actually a distant future. Sometime after the 21st Century, men gained the ability to clone dinosaurs from long fossilized bones and tissues. To the world's surprise, their research was successful... but a terrible cost. True to their nature, the predatory creatures followed their instincts and escaped, killing any human who tried to stop them. The herbivores also saw their chance at freedom and broke out into the wild. For beings that were previously extinct, the dinosaurs showed a remarkable resilience and adaptability in their new world. They spread across the globe, breeding and flourishing. Despite the efforts of several business and military organizations, the beasts grew too numerous too quickly. Man was no longer at the top of the food chain anymore. Now, humanity has decided to go back to simpler times. Through many more centuries of trial and error, we have developed ways to bring back the balance. The herbivores are often bred and kept among the villages as pack animals or companions, while the smaller predators are used as war mounts or to signify a leader's position. Children grow up learning to respect their reptilian neighbors, for they can be the instrument of our advancement... or our destruction. And you... What is your name?"

Rules of the Tribe

1. Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to tame the Great Ones, including the Long Necks and Sharp Tooths.

2. Respect the dinosaurs. Anyone found to be abusing or killing a dinosaur without cause will be put on trial by the Council of Elders and Tribal Leader.

3. Every child is given an iguanodon egg at the age of 6 and they are expected to care for their creature throughout its life. This teaches them responsibility.

4. At the age of 16, all minors are to go on a hunt together with their beasts before being recognized as full members of the Tribe. They must work together to kill a Sharp Tooth and bring back its meat. If they fail, they must wait one year to try again. If their mount dies, they must raise another to adulthood before attempting the test again.

Upon passing the Trial of the Grasses, students may take one of a number of roles among the tribe, which include Breeders, Tamers, Scouts, and Hunters.

5. Only the Council of Elders is allowed to appoint its new members as well as the Tribal Leader.

OOC RULE: Due to the high number of requests, I feel must put that ANY kind of flying dinosaur would be extremely hard to catch due to their ability to fly away. Only someone highly skilled and with years of experience would be able to pull it off. If you still want a flying creature, your character must be AT LEAST 27 years old and you may not power play.

Also, while the dinosaurs are somewhat intelligent, they are not human. Their bonds with their humans can be strong, but they will only view their riders as members of their herd, not as brothers or sisters.

Tribal Roles and Other Meanings

Tribal Leader

The Tribal Leader is chosen only by the Council of Elders and is chosen based on their relationship with the dinosaurs, their respect among the tribe and their skill set.

</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Breeders The Breeders are responsible for making sure that the herds remain at a healthy number. They decide which animals should be bred in order to strengthen the species or which have grown too numerous and should be released to the wild.
</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Tamers Tamers are tasked with going out into the wild and taming the dinosaurs to bring back to the village. Sometimes is it due to a shortage of a certain species, or other times it is to retrieve escaped mounts.
</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Hunters Hunters are just that. They travel in groups and hunt for any kind of food or supplies that the village might need.
</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Scouts Scouts travel in pairs and travel vast distances, keeping an eye on the wildlife and any other threats to the village. It is their job to alert the leader if a Sharp Tooth or other unusually aggressive beast is near.
</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Young Ones These are any children under the age of sixteen or who have not yet passed the Trial of the Grasses.
</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Wild Ones The Wild Ones are the people that the village considers uncivilized. They are nomadic, always on the move, and should be considered dangerous. Never approach them if you are alone.
</woltlab-spoiler><woltlab-spoiler data-label="Tribal Roles and Other Meanings">Mounts A mount refers to the dinosaur that one chooses to ride or care for. A child is given an egg and is expected to care for it the rest of its life. The egg will always be that of an iguanodon, as they are the most reliable of the herbivores. However, after passing the Trial of the Grasses, a person may choose to take on another, so long as they don't neglect the first.

Personality: May's personality is quite something. She is very easy-going and can be quite outspoken when she wishes to be. However, May can also get very annoying because she can talk a lot. May is also incredibly protective of her friends and family, often putting herself in danger so they would be safe. Mateyoalso has an introverted quality, which means she occasionally likes to retire to her hut to relax on her own. She is also very loyal to her friends and tries to make them feel better, often putting her own feelings aside so they'll feel better. Her downfall is that she can act like she doesn't care and often dismisses people.
History: May's history leaves something to be desired. She was born near the edge of the tribe, close enough to interact with the tribe people. All was well until May reached age sixteen, when her father who was a tamer, had been trampled in a stampede when he was bringing back some more triceratops. Mateya finished her trial and became a hunter, preferring the thrill of the chase and hunt to taming different beasts.

Mount Personality: Timber has a simple personality, stay out of his way and he'll stay out of yours. This male is quite protective and will fight for May to his dying breath, which are two positive qualities. On the other hand, Timber is also quite a show-off and tends to flaunt himself whenever he sees a female.

Personality: Jaya has quite the personality and she can be a royal pain in your backside. She loves to break rules and is often found sneaking off the tribe's territory. She is also full of pride, and hates to admit when she has been defeated. This lovely teen is quite sarcastic, but also foolish, making careless mistakes. Jaya is also protective of her friends and will fight to the end for them. Jaya also hates people and complex change. What is meant by complex change is that Jaya prefers things to stay the same.
History: Jaya was born to Jon and Claire, both tamers and she was a very active child from the start. When she was six years old, she was eager to receive her iguanodon egg. Jaya quickly learned how to care for her new mount, and is patiently waiting for her trial so she can become a full tribe member. Her wish is to be a hunter, even though her parents want her to be a tamer.

Mount Name: Fluke
Mount Personality: Headstrong but shy, Fluke tends to stay by himself. He often stays on his own, away from the other iquanodans. He enjoys the peace and quiet but is also very stubborn. Fluke tends to want to be the center of Jaya's attention. He can be over protective of those that he cares for, but Fluke is also nervous around a lot of people.

Personality: Chi is a pretty peaceful type, unless you threaten him or Pierce. He is skilled in herbs and posions and is equally as good in combat. He refuse to hurt kids under 16 because of a memory a long time ago. If he had true friends he would protect them forever, if he believed they deserve it. Chi always take responsibility for his actions and often sticks to the truth. But again, only if you deserve the truth. He is that kind of guy that if you trust him and respect him, he will trust and respect you. Had been afraid of the dark Before his sundust.

History: Chi comes from a tribe of swamp people. Many sicknesses was in the swamp and many got sick, it was necesseary to learn herbs or you would die. Not all herbs are good and Chi soon learned about poisons and how he could eliminate his target with just one dart in the right spot. He also learned swordfight and how to use a staff. At an early age Chi was abused by his 'parents' and his only friend was Pierce. Without Pierce he would have thrown himself to the Crocodiles. When he turned 17 he had enough and fled into the swamps with Pierce. His training in both herbs and fighting saved him many times and now he is roaming the World with his 'brother' Pierce. He invented a powder called sundust that glows in the dark after being touched by light, it takes the colour of the lightsource.

Mount Name: Pierce

Mount Personality: Pierce is much like Chi, if you mess with him he mess with you. You dont want to get messed up by his claws, they can impale or pierce almost Everything. As a herbivore, Pierce tends to be a bit more patient and calm but can get enraged if you hurt Chi.

The tribe considered giving him an iguanodon but they figured he could not raise two dinosaurs at such a Young age. He got special training in flying his Aram named Ex by an old NPC. Most people keep their iguanodons for a long time due to the strength of their 10 year bond, but you may have a second or a different one of you like. Perhaps if you just want a different one, you're iguanodon could have died of a sickness or something like that?

Personality: Zarya is a feisty young woman ready to explore. Although she has no real intention of leaving the tribe she grew up in, Zarya would volunteer to go out into the world in a heart beat. Wether its to go on an expedition to somewhere new, or just to the same place out in the wild. Thats what drove her to become a hunter. Even though Zarya is a huntress, killing is definitely not something she love's. Normally she tells herself, Its ether them or you. That doesn't stop her from being a skilled huntress or a fun person to be around!

History: Zarya was born and raised in this tribe, on her sixth birthday she got a little iguanodon egg. Being six, she named it Eggsberg. She loved him and played with him constantly. Their bond was unbreakable. But when she was twelve, Zarya tried to ride him. She had done it before, But she went faster and faster, and Eggy twisted a leg and flipped over. She remembers being told that the igingery was to bad, the bone had somehow twisted its self, and Eggy was put down to stop his suffering. Zarya still blames herself (with good reason) to this day.

Mount Personality: Kip is a speedy fun loving dinosaur who is very well trained, Zarya got him from an egg and cared for him. (much more carefully then Eggsberg.) Kip is trained to attack on command but, other than that, he is a young dino ready for adventure. Much like Zarya, Kip loves to get away from camp but, very unlike Zarya, Kip also loves the killing part of hunting!

Personality: Maui is an extremely cheerful and innocent small child. He's very well meaning and loves to play with small dinos, Recently he had been given his first dinosaur and is carrying the egg everywhere he goes- Maui won't put it down no matter who asks. The small kiddo wants to grow up and be a breeder so he can snuggle and cuddle cute baby 'suars. The small kiddo also idolizes his older sister wanting to be just like her.
History: Normal child life. He was known as a miracle baby when the elder who had him discovered she was pregnant with the boy. Because of this he's viewed as either a miracle or a mistake. Seeing the elder died giving birth to the young ball of joy. This leads to a bit of insecurity within Maui but he'll hide it.

Mount Name: "Fluffy"
Mount Personality: FLuffy will be an extremely sleepy dinosaur who love maui quite a lot.

Gender: female

Personality: She kind hearted and sweet known for her extremely optimistic nature. She views the good in everyone and is known to be protective over her little brother quite a lot. He's the only way she gets aggressive. She has a love for all creatures and believes even a sharptooth can be trained if trained from birth. She's very against a few of the tribes rules. Such as the ones against sharptooths and longnecks.
History:Basic clan life nothing special. Except for when she was younger her life was saved from a group of Longnecks. Leading to a special bond she had with them.

Mount Personality: Honey is a dumb but well meaning creature. She is very closely bonded to heather and is known for being quite a cuddly gal.
