  • Bruce offered El his hand, and she shook it gently. "It's nice to meet you El." Bruce said kindly, meaning it. Him and Damien had gone through some rough patches, but they had always been able to work through it. Now, the burden of the past felt a little less heavily. Damien had found someone he loved, and that meant the world to him. He then looked at Dick. "How are things going for you?" He asked him. He missed having the boys around even though he would never admit it.

El looked up at Damien after Bruce had turned away and smiled. She too had found it hard getting to know him. Her father had passed away before she was old enough to remember him, so it had always just been her and her mother. Her shyness had also kept her out of the dating world until she had meet Damien. She had found him fascinating from the beginning. He wasn't like other men. She wasn't sure what it was about him, but he had kept surprising her. Today was no different. Damien had told her about Bruce, and they had spoken once or twice over the phone. But when he had offered for her to come meet him in person, she had been stun. However, she couldn't say no to the chance to meet the man who had raised the one she loved so much.

  • Damian smiled at El and looked back to Bruce. "They're doing great. We just got the new place unpacked and in the process of redecorating. We're thinking of buying a dog here soon. Other than that, business is steady."

  • Bruce nods. "I imagine you all are hungry. I'm sure Alfred has something prepared. "He mused, glancing around for him. Not seeing him, he frowned.

El jumped as her phone started ringing. She quickly checker the number, and concern and fear filled her eyes. "I habe to get this. "She muttered before leaving the room. In the hallway they could hear her talking, her voice filled with worry.

  • Damian nodded at his father's offer. "We are, in fact we havent eaten since-- ." He was cut off by El's phone ringing. At first he ignored it and let her take the call, but he couldn't delve right back into conversation with Bruce with his girlfriend's increasingly worried tone in the hallway. He lifted a hand as if to gesture for Bruce to wait. "Just a moment." Damian took on a look of concern and composed himself as he peered around the hall and at El. "Something wrong?" He said in hushed tones. Glancing around he noticed the guest bedroom door was closed but he didn't think anything of it.

  • El had hung up by the time Damien entered the hallway. She was shaking her head, sorrow in her eyes. "Do you remember the woman I told you about? The one with four small children whose husband died? Her sister just called me. The woman....she killed herself." She told him in a whisper. El was a therapist, and often dealt with women and children who were the victims of crimes. They always hit her heavily. She closed her eyes, composing herself. "Come on. We best not worry your family." She said, going to him. She forced herself to smile, but the pain was still in her eyes.

Bruce frowned as Damien's left, but turned to Dick. "I need to talk to you about something important. It can't wait." He told him

  • Damian frowned as he tried to give a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, El... We know more about those kinds of things than you think." In the mean time he would stand there and try to pull her into a hug before they returned to his family.

Clarissa turned over in her sleep. The dream seemed to have returned tonight. Except now it was scarier. She couldn't pinpoint how exactly but it was worse. At the same point, she woke up again. Looking around in the darkness of her bedroom she turned on the bedside light and decided to pick up her phone. Sleeping was not an option for the moment.

  • El's tense shoulders had relaxed when Damien's hand rested on her shoulder. She allowed him to pull her into the hug. She closes her eyes and nestled her head into his shoulder. She remained in his embrace for a minute before gently pulling away. "Come on. Jay's already said he'll deal with anything that happens whIle I'm gone. He's better at dealing with these things than I am anyway. "

Alfred had been pacing Clarissa's room. Hearing movement, he stopped and knocked on the door gently. "Clarissa?" He called softly.

  • I think I have an idea for how Clarissa becomes Robin. So El gets kidnap by the Joker (or whatever villain is in this time zone of Batman) and Clarissa overhears them talking about it perhaps. Somehow she ends up finding out about it, and winds up helping the boys rescue her.

  • That sounds like fun! I'm up for it.))

Clarissa nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Alfred call out to check on her. She put her phone down and breathed. "Yes, Alfred. I'm alright. You may come in." She pulled the blankets tighter round her and watched as the man's form entered. She was hearing voices from in the living room and she didn't understand who was here at this hour.

Damian smile gently down at El and nodded in the confidence that Jay would kick ass if needed. "I trust him. Now, this won't ruin our visit. Okay?"

  • Awesome. But is the Joker still around? I believe Harley Quin is part of Suicide Squad, so I think he's still around?))

Alfred walked into the room, and turned on the low light. There was concern still lingering in his eyes. "Is there anything I can get you? Perhaps some water or milk?" He offered as he walked over to the side of the bed.

El smiled. "Okay." She agreed. She walked back to the main room, keeping close to Damien. It was a habit she had formed since they had started dating. She got nervous around multiple people, especially people she didn't know well, and Damien's presence helped keep her calm. Bruce looked over at them. He was standing beside Dick.

  • Damian smiled as they re entered the room. He had a secure hold on El's hand in a protective gesture, and wasn't about to put her in a situation where she'd feel uncomfortable. Looking to Bruce he seemed to give him a look that meant everything was alright. "Sorry. Business call."

Clarissa shook her head at the offer. "No thank you... Can I tell you something? About a dream I've been having-- there's this kid. Long story short, his parents get killed. They get shot and he's left crying right there on the sidewalk. I had it the other night and it wasn't bad. Until tonight when I had it again." She looked away as she felt her chest tighten. "I know it was a dream, but it felt so real." It was uncomfortable being this open with someone she barely knew. Who knew butlers could be like the wise grandfather, along with your personal chef, chauffer, and cleaning lady?

  • Bruce nods. "How does eating out somewhere sound? I have no clue where Alfred is off at." he said, glancing between the three of them. El looked up at Damien upon hearing Bruce's offer. She wouldn't mind eating out somewhere.

Alfred could only stare at her for several, long moments. He then sighed heavily, not sure how to comfort Clarissa. "Perhaps you should talk to Master Bruce about this." He finally said. He then quickly added, "But if I were you, just try to keep in in mind that this is a dream. Dreams can't hurt you. I promise." He glanced down at his watch, and frowned at the time. "Are you sure you aren't hungry? It's nearly 6:30." he asked her.

  • (Yikes! Sorry about ghosting ya/the thread. Life got busy but I should have let you know! Anyways, would you still be interested in continuing this? I'm open to if you are.))

  • Clarissa considered the offer. It was getting later and it wouldn't hurt to eat. Besides, she wanted an excuse to get out of bed and see who else was around. Without forgetting to thank Alfred for their little talk, she smiled towards him, trying to show sincerity. It was challenging for her, especially with someone she barely knew. Though she supposed she should feel comfortable around Bruce and Alfred, she did not. Well, not completely, as to be expected. Her mother hadn't exactly been a very warm figure, nor one to show much emotion. It made sense for Clarissa to have those traits as well to some extent. Like mother, like daughter. After a moment she thought it would be best to change into something presentable instead of what she was wearing. If there were guests in the house she definitely wanted to make a good impression. "I'm going to change into something else, I'll be out in a few minutes."

    . . .

Damian liked the idea of going out for something. He was actually pretty hungry, and the feeling only presented itself once he'd gotten done speaking with El. Throughout the night he'd make sure she was doing alright. Situations like this could take a toll on someone, especially with El's line of work. He hated thinking that she might blame it on herself. "I'm fine with that, where were you thinking?" He glanced towards his father, and then his brothers as if to pull suggestions out of them, before settling back on the woman at his side. He was a protective boyfriend, never wanting her to get hurt or be wronged. That was natural, but unlike some men he understood that El was not his property. She was a human, just as much as all of them, but didn't need to be smothered. She was a strong woman. Sometimes in fact, Dami considered her stronger than himself. And for Damian? That was a big thing.

  • Alfred could sense her discomfort. He wished there was something to say to help her, but alas he couldn't think of anything. Upon hearing she planned to change, he bowed. "Very well. Just come down to the kitchen when you are ready." he informed her before leaving.

    ---------------------------

El had plastered a smile upon her face, hiding whatever true feelings she had away. She was good at doing that, she had to be, but she never hid them for long from Damian. She trusted Damian more than she had ever trusted anyone, and she knew she could tell him anything. He would never tell a soul. She supposed she love him so much because he treated her like a human. He didn't try to boss her around, and he did his best not be overbearing. Sometimes he couldn't stop himself, but she knew it was only because he was protective. She couldn't blame him for it.

"What about the Italian place on the edge of town? That was your favorite place growing up." Bruce suggested, looking at Damian. He had seen the look Damian had when he gazed at her. He hide a smile. He predicted that the two would end up marrying sooner or later. It was bound to happen.

  • Moving off the bed, she crossed the room towards the closet. In the days since moving in she had hung up all of her clothes and put away everything else that she didn't feel like setting around as decoration. She was picky with her choices, but eventually she decided on an outfit.

From the time she got up to get ready to the time she stepped out of her room, only ten minutes had passed. It was kind of a record for her considering she had only done minimal work on her hair and makeup. Good enough and presentable for their guests. Little did she know that these guests were her brothers, one of them being half of her own blood. Clarissa hesitantly moved through the hall, hearing the voices quiet at the sounds of her heels clicking slowly throughout signalled her arrival. Once she entered into full view of those gathered, she would smile timidly. "Hello."

    . . .

Damian nodded and smiled in agreement as he remembered the restaurant from his youth. It would be a nice sentiment to introduce El to something he liked, as were other things in his life. "I'd like that. Should we get--" Damian trailed off when he saw the girl. She was dressed nicely and striked him as familiar in a weird way. His mind didn't register yet that she could be related to Bruce. Confusion was the first thing he felt and immediately he looked to his father for an answer. Who in the world could she be? <<

  • Bruce's head had snapped in Clarissa's direction the moment he had heard her heels clicking against the floor. He swore under his breath, thankfully low enough that no one could hear. He had wanted to introduce her to the boys later, when El had gone or at least wasn't at Damian's side. He wanted to keep this matter in the family for as long as he could. Looked like he wouldn't be able to do that. Sighing, he shot Dick a sideways look for support. He had already told him about Clarissa. (Do you want to play Dick or me?)

El looked over at Clarissa, surprised to see her appear. But she smiled anyway. "Hello. I'm Elizabeth, but please call me El." she said kindly, leaving Damian's side to shake hands with her. She didn't want to come off as rude, despite how nervous she felt on the inside.

Bruce looked over at Damian, and shook his head slightly. Now wasn't the time to ask.
