• I don't know what to do. I feel like I can't work because of how much stress and paranoia it causes me. This is my freshman year of high school and I haven't done any assignments in these 4 classes all year due to depression and forgetfulness. I'm not trying to make excuses, I hate myself because of this but I don't know what to do

  • Look for extra credit opportunities and arrive early/stay back a few minutes (or email) teachers to ask for ways you can raise your grade. I also recommend going to talk to your school counselor and have a meeting about work ethic so next year you can schedule/handle work in a way that allows you to get things done on time. There will always be a teacher or counselor there to help you if you ask.

Since it's the last week, there's probably not going to be much you can do, but it always helps if you get enough extra credit to raise an F to at least a D.

As for your current freaking-out mode, plug in some earbuds, sit down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and listen to this:
Don't do anything but listen and breathe. You'll feel impatient, and thoughts will continually invade, but let them go. Clear your mind so it is blank and just listen to the music. It really helps to calm you down.

  • This isn't going to be very reassuring at the moment, but this is what I have to offer: you can only go up now.

Colleges look at your transcripts, aka they look at how well you do each particular year. With just a week left, unless there are major projects or finals still to go in, there's not much you can do except work harder next year. If you do have projects and finals left, I would put my best effort into them. If the teachers are friendly, go to them and ask for advice. Speak to a guidance counselor or another trustworthy adult. However, the best thing you can do is remain positive. You still have a lot left to give. You're just a freshman, and now you can show colleges that you're able to improve if you work hard.

I believe that you can do it. Everyone on this site I've met has been a hard-working individual with huge amounts of potential, and I believe that you're no exception. Put your all into it, and keep looking up.

If you need a tutor, this is my finals week, but I can offer you help. I work as a tutor and I'd be glad to teach you anything in the following subjects: AP Calculus AB (and any courses below), AP Biology, Chemistry 1, AP Statistics, Spanish 2. I'd also be glad to look over any projects or essays that you need to turn in. Even if you can't do anything this year, feel free to let me know next year if you need any help.

We all believe in you, and you should believe in yourself as well. Best of luck!

aside from extra credit, some teachers might let you turn in old assignments during the last week of school depending on the class. i'm not sure what your school's policies are but it wouldn't hurt to ask those teachers if there's any major assignments they'd be willing to accept if you complete them for the next day.

    CONGRATULATIONS!
    ALL THE SPRINKLES FOR YOU!!!

that's awesome! you should be really proud of yourself!

  • Congratulations!!

I'm so happy for you and glad that you managed to pull through! <3 Keep at it, friend. That's an impressive feat, and you obviously work hard. I hope you have a better upcoming year, and I hope everything goes smoothly for you!~
