so yeah I'm making a new character named Mallory who's a fallen angel! this is a very tropey and like totally overdone character I know I know but I have a soft spot for fallen angels. anyway basically he was sent from heaven because he came to the realization that God (no particular God mind you just simply God) is kind of an asshole towards humans. he asked why God would be so cruel and strict with such flawed creatures and basically questioning God is a no go, and he was sent to earth. all his hope and faith is pretty much shattered since as an angel he adored God only to be betrayed for asking why. in heaven he felt no negative emotions such as anger, sadness, frustration, hopelessness which he can feel now that he isn't in heaven. his wings are gone, he is mute, and he has exactly zero idea what societal norms are. very depressed kiddo who is honestly an idiot.

also his job in heaven was to judge whether someone went to heaven, hell, or would be brought back/reincarnated!

As overly done as this type of character usually is, I can tell you that it is always interesting how each of their individual stories end up being. It's simply just as endless as the overdone asshole cliche, the amount of ways the story can fold. With his being mute, and with all of these stipulations against him (no longer having wings, emotions he's never known before, etc etc.), I can tell he's going to be quite the fun ride. I personally would adore to roleplay with them, especially after looking through his tags.

In my personal opinion, this character idea has hope to becoming more than just the trope itself, if given the proper care of development. I like how he used to be an angel but has only gained negative emotions; this could be a plot idea, I'm not sure if you've thought of it yet, where his angel-like nature and sad feelings contradict and cause confliction within and outside of himself.

Overall, I like this idea even if it is a common trope. Good luck with Mallory, friend.

The trope itself doesn't matter whether or no it is used more than often, what matters is how far are you willing to develop it until it's not a simple trope. Mallory is a wonderful complicated character that has exceed the typical character for this trope. However, if you were to mess up it would be become a common overused thing once more. It's all about balancing it out. Anyways, good luck with Mallory!
