  • The year is 9045, New York has been empty of humans; you know the warm faced happy owners, for 15 years now. I wish that was all to the story, but it isn't. Let me explain it to you..
The humans were replaced with Well Zombies. We call them Night walkers. 8 hours of the day is filled with daylight... That is the only time we venture out alone. The city is filled with all wild life, from rabbits to bears. We make our home in the abandoned subway. There is only one main exit, their is a secret exit that can only be reached from atop the train.

  • Mason waited impatiently for the patrol to return. He was worried that they wouldn't return. The Nova Scotia paced back and forth.

Keep Going! We have to make it to the Subway! Aura thought to herself. The black shepherd was darting through the city. It was before dawn, the city still dark. Aura had led the way on a hunting patrol. They hadn't hunted for two days and hunger drove the pack out. She carried two rabbits. The night walkers must've scented it because they circled the city. Aura glanced back making sure everyone was following, that was when she heard the screech of a walker. She slid to a halt as the monster walked into the open with its long limbs. It hadn't noticed them yet.

  • I'll put a Roleplay post soon~

  • Argeus and Ulanova we're far behind their alpha. Argeus also held a rabbit. It was what his breed meant to hunt. Nova, however, was carrying two mice and a rat. Not a bad catch. It would have been a better hunting trip, however, if a walker wasn't standing in front of him. The beta skidded to a halt beside her alpha, Argeus stopping behind them. Nova's black ears pulled back in frustration. While the walker didn't seem to notice them right now, it would only be a matter of time before it did. Keeping her prey in her jaw, Ulanova looked up at Aura with a questioning brown gaze, obviously waiting for direction. Argeus was watching the walker nervously behind the two higher-ranking females, his tail hanging low.

Oberon and Moselle were resting in the camp, waiting for the hunting patrol that went out to come back. Rolling onto his back, Oberon looked straight up. The young dog obviously looked bored, but Elle simply sat in silence, her usually patience and elegant nature displayed in the way she sat, her dark eyes studying the camp around her.

The alpha female looked around quickly and motioned for an ally way with her tail. While the group moved that way she tossed a rabbit the other way and watched as the night walked leaped for it. Tearing into the rabbit. Aura took off down the ally way, one more turn and they would be home. She darted between cars that grew trees and plants through them. She burst down into the subway system and they had finally made it home. "Cover the entrance!" She ordered and Mason moved the boards and such infront of it. She laid down on her belly letting it cool on the pavement, panting hard. She glanced to make sure everyone was alright.

  • Argeus and Ulanova we're slow to follow. Nails clicking against the hard city grounds, the two sprinted after Aura. Despite Nova being able to duck under some of the cars due to her smaller size, Argeus pulled ahead due to his natural speed from his greyhound blood. Nova was the last to duck into the alley way, her catch still swigging by their tails in her jaw. She spotted Argeus and Aura already inside their home, though Mason had already started to drag boards across the entrance with Moselle. With a huff, the beta ducked under them, partially sliding on her belly to get through. Standing, the cattle dog mix shook out her fur, dropping the rodents in her mouth so she could pant very similarly to Aura and Argeus with Mason and Elle putting the boards across the entrance nearby. Ulanova looked over to her alpha, a familiar mischievous glint flashing in her brown gaze as she barked, "At least we came out with out pelts in tact, eh?"

  • Like a prized show dog, Rolph leapt through the last conceivable entrance space just before the one venture point was secured. He panted, and his jawline boasted substantial moisture, but he was meant for work- running and pulling and endurance. He sneezed away his fatigue and steadied himself with a deep breath as he walked calmly to lay down his own catch- a hare and a squirrel he'd been chasing so steadfastly he'd momentarily separated from the rest of the hunting party. Good thing he'd caught it- he might not have made it back with them in time otherwise. He sighed, looking at the measly take, and solemnly turned. He would fill his belly with water tonight

Honey came trotting up to the returning allies,

"Everyone alright? Anyone hurt?" She asked, sniffing around them.

As soon as he saw them with his one good eye, Goliath's tail began to wag openly and energetically. He approached in a vocal silence, but his paws were never suited to stealth. He looked at everyone through the one open orb with a smile, back and forth, his face clearly displaying his pleasure to see them again and his thankfullness that they'd returned with food. He was a big boy- the guy went through calories like a fish goes through water.

  • After Moselle had finished helping Mason, she went over and picked out her own meal too. She was about to grab the rat when she was interrupted by fur against her cheek. Looking up, the tall female saw Argeus pushing the rabbit he caught into her face. While she was looking, the sneaky hound dropped it and snatched up the rat, trotting away satisfied. While it was obvious the rabbit would have provided a more filling meal to the brute, he seemed to want her to take it instead. Her tail giving a small wag, she picked it up and headed over to a corner of their little home. Much like Goliath, Elle was a bigger dog. She had two large breeds--the Borzoi and the Afghan Hound--that showed in her, making her much taller than most of her pack mates. This meant she needed a bit more to eat than the others, and most of them acknowledged this it seemed. While grateful, she never felt right eating without a packmate. Spotting Goliath, the long-furred dog trotted up to him, dropping the rabbit before asking, "Do you mind if I eat with you?" Being around the equally big dog made her feel more comfortable around the other dogs. They were both a little bigger than most of the others, and he tended to make her feel less out of place.

Ulanova, after catching her breath, picked up the squirrel Rolph had caught as well as a mouse. The beta's gaze scanned small pack of dogs, eventually landing on Oberon, who was staring intently at the slowly shrinking pile of freshly-caught prey. Nova tended to notice the young dog tended to wait for the scraps of the others and had that as his meal, and he seemed to look a little thinner than most of the others as of late. Blinking at him, the cattle dog padded over to him and dropped the mouse, bluntly saying, "Eat." After she did that, she padded back over to where Aura was and settle down near her, digging into her own meal.

  • Heading to one of the places where rainwater and runoff gathered, Rolph dipped his head in the small spears of early morning light breaking through the ground above him and lapped at one of the fairly clear pools of water. It tasted a bit acrid, but that's how it always tasted- he'd come to appreciate the liquid anyway. For a few minutes he drank until he was sure he would be satisfied for a while longer and then came to return to the main quarter with the rest of the pack. Moving toward the entrance he snuck a peak out of the discrepancies in the boards defending their home and watched for trouble. The older dog had seen too much in his life, been on his own too long, to let it this relative peace slip through his grasp. He hadn't had a pack for most of his life, and now that he had, losing it had become one of his nightmares.

No one spoke out, so Honey assumed no harm was done to the rest of the pack. She moved off then, looking for something small that she might nibble on, trying to figure out which one was the leanest meal. The she-dog had gotten fairly good at running on little to no fuel, and if she could, why should she fill herself when they were obviously in the midst of a famine? Next time she hunted, she might accept a larger meal, but seeing as she'd stayed back, something miniscule would suit her. Heavy and strong of movement, in contrast to how dainty and prim her appearance made her seem, the chow-husky mix found a mouse and pulled it out of the way, looking to the others- namely Oberon and Nova- as they interacted.

Picking up one of the rabbit bodies with a grateful nod, Goliath moved off to the side to merrily begin nourishing himself. He heard someone approach and looked up to see Elle standing before him. He nodded with a warm smile and moved his hefty, bulky self over a bit as if more room needed to be created. Seeing as he was now accompanied, he licked his chops, but otherwise waited until she began before he decided to start up again, tail wagging behind him anyway. He was glad to be part of the pack and never missed reminding himself that he ought to show it to them. Though he was crippled in more ways than one, they treated him kindly and he was always happy to have a bit of one-on-one time with anyone who could spare him a minute.

  • A grateful look flashing briefly on her face, Moselle settled down in the space that he made for her. Though tall, her body was considerably thin due to the greyhound in her ancestor's blood. Tucking her white paws under her, the long-furred female started to eat her own meal, her fluffy tail wagging happily behind her. While she ate, however, her ears were perked up a bit, listening to the distant yet eerie sounds of the night walkers in the city. Despite having lived this life for a while, avoiding them and trying to sleep through their terrible noises, it still make her uncomfortable and unsettled her. She didn't complain though, but instead quietly ate beside her packmate.

//Might take me a little longer to respond for a bit. Working on homework~

  • OOC: No biggee- I'm busy making these sloppy character tags anyway

As soon as she began eating, Goliath plowed back into his own meal with not even the pretense of decorum. His tail continued to swish behind him without care, though it was kicking up a bit of dust while his fangs crunched through the small bones of the rondentia critter. When he decided to take a quick breath, seeing as he had simply been basically inhaling his meal, Goliath looked up and noticed Elle's ears twitching while she ate. He perked his own, hearing more clearly through the fluffy, droppy flaps the sounds of their most pressing predator outside. He sort of made like he was crawling toward her, though he barely moved an inch, to get her attention then visibly lifted his hears, blowing a little huff in place of a bark out toward the entrance and cocking his head with inquiry, making an empathetic face.

Are you frightened? he hoped to convey.

  • Moselle turned to look at Goliath as she spotted him moving out of the corner of her eye. She was still chewing a bit of her own rabbit when he gave her a concerned look. It took her a moment, but she came to the conclusion that he was trying to 'ask' her if she was scared or something like that. Elle quickly swallowed, giving him a small smile before giving a response. "No, not scared. More... uncomfortable. Unsettled? I don't know." Her wagging tail had turned to nervously twitching as she finished munching on her rabbit. Running her tongue around her chops, she untucked her paws from under her, laying one over the other in front of her before resting her head on them. Her dark-colored gaze was set on the camp entrance that was now boarded off, as if watching to make sure nothing was coming in. Nothing had been able to come through before, but that definitely didn't stop Elle from worrying.

  • Though she denied it, Goliath was adamant in his own mind that she was defineatly thinking their safety was tentative. He finished his own food, licking whatever tastes or scraps that might have fallen in his feeding frenzy from the ground beneath him while he set to work gnawing on the remaining bones for any precious marrow within. Elle didn't seem comfortable, and he thought for a moment, the mental exertion slowing his tail while he tried to come up with a plan. He was no planner, and maybe not the top of the intelligence pyramid, but he was no dummy. He got to his paws and then quickly came down on his elbows, hind in the air behind him, while his tail wagged and he panted. He closed his mouth soundly, and jutted his head off to the side.

    Do you want to play?

  • Elle, her muzzle still facing the entrance to their little camp, flicked her gaze over to look at Goliath, who seemed to be trying to play with her. The long-furred female thought for a moment, though she soon wondered why she was even hesitating. Raising her head and uncrossing her legs, Moselle soon put herself in the same position as Goliath, looking less like the elegant and dainty-looking dog she usually was and more like an overgrown, pup-like dog. Letting her tongue hang out, she raised a white paw and placed it on the black-and-white brute's head playfully. Though she was still a little tense, she was more relaxed than she was before and clearly distracted from her previous worries.

//Casually keeping this tab open while I work

  • Alive and with more speed or energy than a brute his size might be assumed to display, Goliath's forelegs hopped away to the side and back again from under Elle's paw. He quickly traded paws on the ground excitedly before rearing up at her, hopping forward a step, planning to sort of land, sort of scoot her over a bit with his own long, heavy tongue flopping around in tandem with his ears out the side of his mouth, and his tail typhooning anything foolish enough to walk behind him. She seemed a bit happier, which of course, was good- surely it had been the (original) point of all this- but as soon as she agreed to the game, only about 45% of his brain was still devoted to the initial task. The rest of him just wanted to have fun with his playmate.

    ((:Back here watching a movie:))

  • Moselle let out a soft hmph as she felt Goliath half-lay down on her, half-stood over her. While they were pretty much the same height, Goliath had a lot more girth on him than Moselle, so he basically smothered the dog. However, instead of whining, Elle rolled carefully onto her back, her tail wagging as she nipped at his back legs and tail.

//Short post -.- Trying to at least get another paragraph or so done on this

  • Hopping up like a donkey or a bull trying to toss his rider, Goliath clopped his chops happily, pulling his tail under him away. He danced clumsily away from her, running excitedly in a large loop back away and curving back toward her, skittering to a bubbly stop back on his elbows almost right on top of her forelegs, laughing happily without making a single peep.

((:Don't feel like you've got to on my account- you've got work to do anyway:))
