Sorry for so many individual posts (I'm actually not sorry at all; I'm awful). I just want to thank those who have remained calm, even when some people were in here trying to instigate drama (I did just mention in the announcement yesterday that this happens every time even the smallest opening is created...). Not engaging those people and leaving them to staff was the right choice. :)

If the focus of members switches, as a whole, to writing good stories, that'll be the biggest win we could hope for. Staff will be here to keep people from being jerks, and doing our best to keep people from just trying to ruin the experience. Though, we also need the members' help with that via reports, or by using the Moderation By Community functionality. :)

Your welcome Dynamo and hopefully I helped fix this problem just abit! I feel members have no right treating mods the way they do as really FeralFront wouldn't be a thing without them! Maybe in the upcoming leader meeting we could try a ping ever leader? It would help with everyone seeing that the thread is made and there and hopefully it would help with planning.

crediting @puddles on a separate thread for this, they brought up a site wide plotting thread were each and every clan can communicate in one place. The trad clans do this and it works pretty well for them so maybe we can try too?
We'll just have to remember is a plotting thread and not a chat thread.

Since we're making it all inclusive again we'll be putting it in a blue bar notification. :)

The issue stems from the fact that even with the End Game plot, you as staff and as members as Ala mentioned are only trying to push activity, not development. Perhaps that's not the goal but you have to understand even without meaning to that IS what you're doing.
-> Members get afraid to lose their board
-> Panic and tons of empty threads are made.If empty plotless threads don't keep clans active and those without development will be punished as said then I see tons of clans who should be knocked down a tier or two imo.
Besides the point, @Unshackled Dynamo I can't find the post, but you mentioned yourself something along the lines of 'getting an hp and winning a battle isn't everything' and you're 100% right, that wasn't what I was meaning, however I assume you can at least relate or try to relate to someone who isn't striving for that but everyone surrounding them cuts off any plot or development due to being ridiculously OP, I'll just throw this example out there.
I have a normal cat, she has no powers, but she's into poison and spirits, something that couldn't go into the trad. boards due to her nature, however when I tried to do a fun plot with her leaving a basket of honey that was poisoned I had a character sniff it out and chuck a fireball at her and then a robot character come in and telekinetically try to pick her up and kill her, there wasn't -any- reaction. There was no build up, there was nothing, it was the saddest most disgustingly boring thread I have ever made in my life. What did I expect? Well, I wasn't wanting anyone to die, or even eat it, but to see it and have some sort of suspense and figuring it out or some sort of story, but thats not allowed to happen on Feralfront anymore.
Thats the issue IMO, like we can't avoid them.
And tbh..I can't say I much believe that staff will handle OP characters when they're giving them powers atm that no other character on the site can have, like I think if I made a character who called meteors down on a clan in battle I'd get warned, I actually say someone saying you couldn't do stuff like that via elemental powers.
To me its a bit hypoctricial, but perhaps I misunderstand whats going on due to a lack of official information.
What I'd do to try to change how RPs view RPing here to better the site I'd first stop trying to intimidate and put fear inot members via activity related plots, let people relax first, give them time to naturally build things up so its not a rush for plots. I'd rework how hPs work but that first has to come from people being able to relax without fear their clans gonna get nuked, I'd encourage the leaders to plot together, perhaps they could make a discord or something and hand our rewards for positive development for characters via accolades perhaps.

simply gonna track cus I don't need to be on staff's shitlist
this isn't an attack on staff I'm just saying I was already banned once for drama so.. ye -
OP characters definitely affect the extended game because it's gotten to a point where if your character doesn't have any powers/obvious advantage, they're seen as frail or weak. obviously this isn't something we can fix overnight, nor is it something that just members or just staff can fix. as it's been said, staff can't decide how people write. however! members don't have much pull over each other. reporting someone can be scary to some, since they don't want to cause drama and it doesn't really teach anyone a lesson because really, either the person gets banned and finds a new site to act like that or nothing happens.
listen, i don't wanna talk for others but here's what my experience has been like since returning to the site in september. my character has a few powers, but his personality does. not. depend. on. them. i feel like this is a running issue. people create character who have specific powers and that is all they can be boiled down to. hell, my character is a literal demon and rarely does anything with that. anyways! back to my experience. my character is a higher up in the Exiles, specifically the Commander of War. seems like a pretty tough character, right? well by all definitions, yeah he is! but he's won less than ten fights since september. its been like, eight months! he gets in multiple fights a month because its the exiles! but everyone is so OP that i'm looking at these attacks and it's just not realistic if he would win. it's just gotten so out of hand where a character who has been promoted not just because of activity but also due to suiting the roll, and has multiple powers and is a literal demon isn't powerful enough to win 80% of fights.
anyways, i don't have much more to say right now.

The inability for anyone to pin down a solution, or to even agree on a vague course of action, is testament to the difficulty of solving the problem.
That said, staff is currently planning a number of things that pull the focus away from "winning" and back on to writing and having fun.
We plan to continue with sitewide plots (though none of them moving forward should be destroying large groups of boards). We also plan to continue our monthly writing prompts (such as the one that's going right now). We also want to bring back the specific creative writing prompts that we were doing a number of months ago. Character Development Challenges. Staff will provide a scenario, and members will write how their character(s) would respond to it (I've seen this type of idea mentioned several times in this thread).
The hope would be that, between members doing their best to write interesting stories (not stories in which they win, though the two can be one and the same), and staff throwing up these things that encourage character development and improving as a writer, the community will self-moderate into something that's much closer to what most of us seem to want.

So, the main (not only, but the most important) things here are that of OP characters and not enough development, which are pretty closely related. We're relying on the staff to take care of this--and yes, staff help will be needed. But it's not the only thing that will fix this--the current setup allows members to participate more in how the game is run, but I'm honestly not seeing much of that here. Complaints and suggestions will be part of the solution, but not the only solution. Staff can't do everything. Members need to work on solving this problem along with staff.
As a group, we need to start working on ways to fix OP-ness ourselves. The majority of members need to decide "Hey, we're focusing on development, not just activity". I remember that there was a rule some time ago that people shouldn't/couldn't be promoted on simply activity anymore, but more of development. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Maybe we should get the leaders/HPs of each ext. group together and discuss this? If we want to start focusing on development, it would help to start with the leaders/HPs--they're the ones promoting people. And if they start promoting people based on development, well, then those who want to get promoted have to work on development, not just activity. True, it's sometimes hard to distinguish real, actual development from just meaningless posts--and not everyone has the time or the muse to continually do things that develop their character in some form--but at least we could make guidelines for that. Promote uniqueness instead of activity. Just doing this won't fix everything, but it will help, I'm sure. It'll provide a start. Promotions are pretty much the only true incentive on here anymore (and while I know not everyone, or even not many, actively focus on being promoted) so if we can begin there, it would make a difference.
Nothing will change overnight. Nothing will change without the support and determination of the majority of the memberbase--just a few people that want to change things isn't enough. A few people not going OP with their characters isn't enough. Only if the majority of the memberbase participates in this will anything get done. We need to spread this merely beyond the Help Den--talking to clan leaders will help, because at least then they could actively host a discussion or something with their clan members. A banner at the top of the page will attract notice, but it won't really attract discussion, which is what we really need.((Sorry if this seems kinda random and scattered; it's just my thoughts on this whole matter.))
EDIT: And we do definitely need clear rules on the ext. game. I think some people may be thinking that since there's no limitations, they can do whatever they want. But there are limitations--I've seen guns in the ext. boards, which I'm pretty sure is one of the few limitations we have. There needs to be a clear list of what explicitly isn't allowed (guns, humans, anthros, anything else I forgot about), as well as a guide about how to develop your character well, and so on. It'd be helpful if things were a little clearer, as well (and combined into one guide, or at least stickied, or mentioned in the Library's list of guides, or something so they're a heck of a lot easier to find).

hi i'm new can someone explain to me what the extended game is
Extended game is just a fancy slang term for the non-traditional Warriors RP c: -
what is the non-traditional warriors rp
what is the difference between traditional and non-traditional
sorry to ask so many questions i used to rp here when it was wcrpg this is all really new -
woah okay this might be all over the place because im on mobile and am super scatterbrained but here we go
first im going ti share my ideas for weekly tasks, i realize that this is sort of off topic but the op was talking about some thigns I agree with a whole lot. i like tasks where its like: find a family heirloom and have your character think about their family or have a thread where your character befriends a character from another Clan and in that thread they discover that they have this past experience in commmon. things that are excellent for development.
moving on to the allies thing and i could not agree more! i would love seeing clans get together as well to have a weekly tasks thing where it might be like: character from shadowclan and character from the rift get together to play a fun prank on another mutual ally or go and grafiti an enemy clan together. like bonding in other clans right there and it would be a lot of fun.
as for op characters, i would like to see some sort of guide in place as to what you can and cannot do with powers. i remember seeing thwt flower prints couldnt be used offensively but a character was strangling someone with vines with it. the extended game is sort of chaotic but at the same time i think its liveable and this isnt a giant issue that makes me want to stop playing or anything.
as for the empty thread issue, ive been planning a list for meaningful extended and traditional game posts for both weekly tasks and ehen you have muse but cant think of what to post and im hoping that that will help some? idk really

wait wait wait the shop is gone? or was it moved? what are credits? are credits new freshkill
also who are all these new clans in the non-traditional rp section -
I know this is out of place, and I mainly looked at the first page (though I will read the others later.) and I just have one thing to add to this topid!
One thing that bugs me about ext. (and maybe trad?) is leaders that remain leader for months, maybe even longer. I'm not saying those people are bad leaders, but clans need to change. Sometimes they always feel the same due to this, the only changes are the other positions, sometimes plots, and political things.
Once again, I'm not saying that these leaders are bad in any way, but there should be a limit in how long one can remain in leadership at a time. Maybe they can regain the position overtime, but clans really need some change.
Sorry if this is rude in anyway!
