Alabaster was being sent out on a special mission for the day. The princess (y/c) was going out into town for a public announcement that he didn't know exactly what it was. Her father had chosen him since he knew that the boy had gotten to know his daughter rather well in his few years of being there. He spotted her in the garden gazing out in the water of the fountain and smiled noticing how beautiful she looked. "Um, princess we need to get going. Your presence to the citizens of the capitol is requested" he informed

Arashi turned her gaze up from the fountain as she heard a familiar voice address her. Face lighting up at the handsome young guard who approached her. Slowly the princess stood, clasping her hands together with a nod. The simple and elegant dress flowed and whispered around her due to all it's whispy layers. Drawing a cloak around her body to keep the morning breeze off of her.
"I understand, let's go" Ara smiled as she approached the guard. Lightly reaching up to adjust his collar. Gaze fond and kind "there we go, perfect" awaiting for the man to lead the way.
-
Alabaster blushed as she reached up to fix his collar. He looked at her closely noticing how beautiful her smile was. He took her hand and led her out of the gardens and towards where she was meant to speak. He stood at the side keeping watch as the citizens gathered. Her father was about to speak when an arrow was shot towards them. Alabaster saw the arrow and jumped out to block the shot from hitting either royal. he looked down seeing that the arrow had entered his side. He started to black out just as he saw Ara moving towards him.
-
Public appearances were always dangerous, Ara had once feared them greatly. She often feared being alone. The queen, the mother of Arashi had already been killed by a planned attack made on the family. Naturally young Arashi was a large target being the next in line to the throne and carrying the potential to bring further blood members into the royal line.
Only able to helplessly look up as an arrow flew toward her. But it didn't hit, instead her vision was filled with the guard. Her sweet guard. Gasping softly as she stepped forward, rushing to the fallen man's side and gently placing her hands on him. "Alabaster?? Hang in there" looking up her father as other guards hurried to respond to the panicked family and calm the civilians. As Alabaster was taken away and Arashi and her father were hurried to safety.
-
Alabaster tried to stay conscious, but the blood loss wasn't helping with the guard. He was carried off to infirmary where he was given help to have the arrow pulled out of his abdomen. Meanwhile, the civilians left to return home not wanting to be around for if the assassin decided to shoot again. the king helped lead Ara back inside making sure that she would be okay.
Later on, a few medics came over to Ara to inform her that Alabaster was coming back to conscious and he was asking for her to come visit him since he's stuck in bed and he couldn't go out to meet her himself.
-
Arashi of course had been pacing anxiously back and forth whilst awaiting to hear any word on the condition of Alabaster. Really he was the only one she could call friend. Being the princess was a lovely life and so she did care for the kind guard who offered her companionship.
Nodding as she bustled toward the infirmary. Taking a deep breath and then stepping in. Walking up to his bedside with a gentle smile. "Hey" she breathed, resting a gentle hand on his arm.
-
Alabaster looked up at Arashi as she entered the infirmary. He smiled as she neared him. He tried sitting up, but the pain in his abdomen forced him to lay back down. He looked over at her taking in every detail. Every feature about her was beautiful and he understood why she had so many suitors trying to win her hand, but he knew that she was more than those looks. She was so kind and a great friend
"Hey Ara, a-are you okay? Did the attacker try to shot at you again?" he asked worrying about her
-
The princess looked panicked slightly as the man tried to sit up "lie still! That's an order" she joked softly. She did indeed have suitors. In fact her father who was growing in age and worry. Had arranged for Arashi to meet with a suitor later that day. Ara hated the idea, so far she greatly had not enjoyed her suitors. She cared little for them.
But for now her attention was focused on Alabaster. "No, no. You protected us and the attacker fled. I promise" she assured the man gently. Tearing up slightly "oh Alabaster, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine the pain you are in"
-
Alabaster chuckled at her order before stopping quickly when he felt pain again. He wished he could just move his upper body without pain streaming through his body. "It does suck, I can't even move and I think the doctor's might've found my secret" he admitted. His secret being he was a half breed and his wings on his back were something he always tried to keep hidden. He didn't want anyone to know except for well those close to him like Ara. He wished she would stay with him, remembered her meeting with a suitor was later that day. "You're not staying here long, are you?" he asked
-
Ara had yet the courage to reveal to the man in front of her that she too was of his kind. The princess was born a halfling and forbidden to speak of it. Bearing delicate cat ears a top her head that was always hidden by a ribbon she wore in her hair whilst also keeping them pressed down. She also bore crisp white with hues of gold feathered wings that she hid uncomfortably but very well, folded firmly against her back and wise clothing choices.
In truth when she had discovered Alabaster's secret, she had longed to tell him hers. But the hatred she had suffered from her family since birth for her 'deformities' kept her lips sealed. However it was the fact Alabaster was like her, when no one else was. Truly warmed her heart. "I will speak with the doctors to tell then not to breathe a word" she promised. Frowning regretfully "I'm afraid I can't stay long, I have a suitor to join me for lunch" she admitted gently. "I'll come by after though" she promised.
-
Alabaster nodded giving her a small smile. He understood that she had other places to be. She was the princess after all and she needed to be married to another prince to continue the lineage. I wish I could be one of her suitors he thought surprised at thought. He bid her good bye before resting.
Prince Nicholas met with her for lunch. He admired how she look just like her portrait and smiled at the sight of her. "Shall we go Princess Ara?" he asked
-
Arashi smiled, softly she offering a light peck to the wounded man's forehead. In truth she was very fond of the man. "For saving my life" she breathed. "Rest and take care, I'll come by as soon as I can. Perhaps I'll bring you something" she smiled. With that, the princess was gone.
Soon face to face with her latest suitor, slipping her arm into his offered one as she simply nodded with a small smile "of course, Prince Nicholas" taking a moment to cast her gaze over the suitor "will you tell me about yourself?"
-
Nicholas smirked at her question to ask about himself. "I'm the prince of the southern kingdom where our military is our main priority. Though I personally don't follow with that. I enjoy the arts more specifically the visual arts. I should show you some of my sketches sometime. What about you, what is your passion?" he asked
-
Arashi listened to him quietly, he liked art as did she. Ara enjoyed painting and pastels if truth be told as well as charcoal. Their whispy colours seemed to accent her emotions and message best. "I would like that" she smiled gently. Yes, the man would be around the castle for a while if their lunch went well. Her father seemed very keen on this young man and so would likely pressure Arashi to give him a long and good chance. "I enjoy the violin and piano. As well as painting and pastels"
-
"Ah, so you're a little musician too. I'm sure we're going to get along rather well" Nicholas said. He led her into the dinning room where a splendid lunch was spread out for them. He was excited to spend more time with the princess. She was beautiful and she even liked the same things he did. He hoped she would like him, this was one of his last chances of getting married. "So Ara, what else would you like to tell me about you?"
-
alas Ara's heart was reserved for another even if she didn't realise that yet. Smiling softly as she settled in the seat he pulled out for her. "I uhm, love morning walks and the ocean and being out on the water" she murmured thoughtfully. Watching their food be served before them. "Otherwise there's not much else" unsure what else to say "what is your home like?"
-
Nicholas sat down across from her and listened intently. "My home. Well it's in the desert so if we were to be married then I believe you'd rather prefer to stay here to be near your ocean. I hear that there is no substitute for the sea air" he commented before having his plate placed before her and himself. "Shall we dine?" he asked
-
"Married?" Arashi couldn't help as it slipped out, blinking awkwardly as she nodded and tucked eagerly into her food. Seeking the distraction from her awkward word slip. "Lakes and rivers are just as nice" she murmured softly. She would never wish the man to leave his home, no doubt a dessert was beautiful at times. Absently gazing at her plate, what was she to do? "Perhaps we could go for a walk after?" She offered "or we could play for each other"
-
"Yes married, I am a suitor for your hand. Of course, it's up to you in the end whether or not you'll choose me" he explained. He started to eat while listening to her suggestions about what to do next. "What do you mean by 'play for each other?'" he asked
-
"You mentioned we were both musicians, we have a beautiful room with a grand piano and many other instruments and a huge window looking out over the grounds. Orwe could walk the grounds" she explained, soon finishing her mealas she carefully dabbed around her mouth. Talking to Alabaster never felt this hard or unnatural.
