    "You see, I remember when this land was still alive. Still well. It was such a short time ago; It's chilling to see what those things did to our home in such a easy, effortless way. Sure, one could argue it was inevitable. But I would wager that such a sentiment is part of the problem. If the demonic invasion happens so fast and often that we see something like this to be normal... I mean, do we really have a chance?


    Well, perhaps. If we had more people like you, that is. See, I've tried for years to rally the last of the Argent Crusaders, but it seems I'm all that's left. And if I'm all that's left, then it's my job to rebuild the order. I guess I should start with you. So how did that inauguration ritual go again?... Wait, I think I remember. Here, just as my leader told me. 'What you will see are things that would make the most season warrior wretch with fear. What you will smell will churn the stomach; What you will hear will drive you mad. You will feel pain that has never been borne by a mortal, and you will do so over and over again. But I tell you now: If you do not, and I do not, and your brothers and sisters don't... then truly, we are all lost.'"

    General


    This thread is dedicated to a roleplay pertaining to the Argent Crusaders: An elite group of fighters destined to fight the onslaught of demons from Hell. The player will assume the role of one of these fighters, and will play along others in order to try and protect the world and its people. Armed with some of the most powerful runes of magic in history, the group is more than ready to fight the forces of Hell with extreme prejudice. Set in a fantasy universe, the player will be open to a myriad of different races and abilities of their choosing.

    Setting
    Set in the land of Vasharan, this roleplay is meant to be one of overcoming adversity. A world with thousands upon thousands of years of history, Vasharan is falling into ruins after the beasts of Hell manage to make their way to the overworld. Long ago, an ancient group of demon hunters was formed, known only as the Argent Crusaders, tasked with fending of the beasts. They were massively successful, to the point where the demons had given up, retreating to Hell. Forward 200 years, and the order has nearly gone extinct. The demons have made a resurgence, and with no one trained to fight them, the world has cried for help. But the order is survived by one man, a man who has invited you to rebuild the order and protect the world.

    Rules

    1.Please keep things civil between writers. Drama in the Roleplay is encouraged- but leave it in the Roleplay! If you disagree with something, you and the other should discuss things in OOC to settle it in a non-derogatory manor.
    2. Characters should have their own flare to them. Try to stray from generic characters. If questions are had about a character, i.e., is this too advanced, should be noted on the form. The thread creator will take this into account, and is very malleable with characters. Never be afraid to ask!
    3. Try to post at least once a day. If one week goes by without having posted, you shall be removed. The thread creator is fine with you reapplying after. Ideally, if you have something coming up, you can notify him and he will gladly make accommodations!
    4. Be realistic. Want to attacka demon who is heavily guarded? You can try, but don't be too convinced it'll go well unless you have planned well! The thread creator is fine with romance, but you may want try to be reserved with yourself for the sake of others and the general quality of the Roleplay.
    5. 3 lines to a reply minimum. One liners are admitted here and there, especially if muse is low. We've all been there!

    Basic Information.
    Nickname: Fia
    Age: Appears to be 18, in reality she's 87. Elves age very slowly and she will not be considered an adult until she is 110.
    Class (Mage, Warrior, Rogue, Etc.): Ranger! :)
    Preferred Weapon: Her primary weapon is a bow and arrow but at close quarters she double-wields a sword and dagger very effectively.


    Appearance.
    Race: Elf. Think Lord of the Rings or D&D and you've got the kind of elf I'm thinking of.
    Eye Colour: Bright hazel, one eye is more blue while the other is more green.
    Hair Color: Red. A fairly bright red too, about as classic a ginger as you get.
    Height: 5'0
    Weight: 80lbs - elves are built more lightly than humans.
    Tattoos: A few tribal designs that are usually hidden, the ones on her forearms can be clearly seen however. They're reminiscent of vines and they curl around her forearms and do in some places mark the backs of her hands.
    Piercings: None.


    Personality.
    Personality Traits: Fia is blunt and pragmatic, she prefers to take action rather than sit and talk. She's an excellent strategist but prefers to improvise and create strategies in the moment rather than sit for hours in a war council tent. At first glance she appears reckless and hostile but she has a strong loyalty to her friends and native people and does her best to keep everyone safe.
    Skills: Fighting with her preferred weapons, horseback riding, running and climbing. She can sing remarkably well but prefers not to - can't do anything to draw attention to herself! She is excellent in terms of stealth and camouflage.
    Weaknesses: Impatient and often too harsh of tongue with those who frustrate her. She's a terrible swimmer and although she's fairly strong her diminutive build does offer significant disadvantages in hand-to-hand combat.


    History.
    History (6 Sentence minimum): Fia was born to unknown parents in one of the hidden Elven cities, in fact she spent the first three years of her life there. But when she was three years old the city was attacked and razed to the ground, she and a large group of other children were captured. They grew up as the captives of an organized militant group and were treated badly, used as slaves for any whim their captors might have. Until a few started to fight back. Not Fia, at first - she watched and waited for the right time. But as the years went past and the group of captives diminished, a spark of resentment Fia had always carried was fanned into an open flame.
    The catalyst was when Fia's close friend, almost a brother to her, was killed by one of their masters for refusing to pleasure him. Even then, Fia did not rage or rebel. She waited, quietly organizing the remaining captives until they had a solid plan - and then, only then, did they rebel. They were stronger than their captors now, for the militant group had dwindled in strength and purpose over the nearly twenty years the children had been captive. Some of the captives were killed but most escaped with Fia at the lead, now in her her early twenties. Since then she has wandered the barren planet defending those who needed it and watching for signs of the demons rising - now they are back and she knows that it is her fate to be part of the fight against them.

    Class Type (Mage, Warrior, Rogue, Etc.): Combat-Mage
    Preferred Weapon: Typically, Xander utilizes a one-handed technique with his family long-sword. Along with that, his off-hand typically wields some sort of utility spell.


    Appearance.
    Race: Human.
    Eye Colour: Verdant Green.
    Hair Color: Black, slightly graying around the edges.
    Height: 6'4.
    Weight: 210 Lbs, Considered slightly above average at his height.
    Tattoos: N/A.
    Piercings: N/A.


    Personality.
    Personality Traits: Xander is highly optimistic, rarely giving up simply because the odds are stacked against him. That said, he is a superstitious fellow, and being the last thread that ties the Argent Crusaders together presents tremendous pressure. Often times, he does not feel apt to the task of carrying on their order, with the idea that he is just a simple warrior. But after his encounter with the Ember of Hell, he found that he would need to fight the forces of evil whether he wants to or not. He typically tries his best to keep his band together, and has grown rather comfy as the seat of leader. He does his best to keep morale and resolve well, and at that, will go through whatever he must in order to protect the last of his order. Occasionally, the weight of what happens to the damned catches up to him, conjuring horrid visions in his mind.
    Skills: Old training from the Argent Crusaders has made him a skilled swordsman, and with no one to rival his position yet, it is conceivable that he is best suited to fight with demons in close-quarters combat. Along with that, the Ember of Hell has embellished him with the possibility to manipulate the energies of Hell to his whim. To be specific: Xander can enchant his weapon to temporarily burn with Hellish fire, adding even more to his arsenal. He is extremely tolerant to heat, and is very capable of being exposed to open flame for hours with little effect. He has also managed to create the ability of Immolate, wherein his entire form is engulfed in flame. The heat, as most Hell Flames are, Is so hot, that most non-hellish creatures cannot be within 5 feet of him without the flame being damaging.
    Weaknesses: Xander is rather immobile, regardless of his speed with his sword arm. A fast-footed demon is arguably his worst nightmare. He is immune to most flame- But Hell Flame is hot enough to damage him. This means that his ability of Immolate can potentially kill him if he does not utilize it properly. He typically is only capable of sustaining Immolate for 5 minutes; The spell will begin to sear him deeply after that.


    History.
    History (6 Sentence minimum): Born of the ever-dying Argent Crusaders, Xanders life has always been one of training. His mother and father both showed him the way of the knight, beginning his swords training at the age of 8. As he grew, his parents would leave him to be on his own, tending to his own devices as they took care of the Hellions that attacked their home world. At the age of 17, Xander went with his parents to fight a breach just outside a village far from the 'Argent Temple,' the permanent base of the Argent Crusaders. It was then that it was made clear that he and his parents were the last of the Argent Crusaders, that he was merely cleaning up the scraps of the full invasions, and it was then that he realized just what he was up against. By the time they had arrived, it was too late. The streets ran red with gore and the dismembered limbs of the people. What few full bodies they could find were being feasted upon by the grunts of Hell's Army. Enraged and disgusted, they slaughtered as many as they could find. Just when they had thought they had purged the area, they found the rift, floating haplessly upwards of 20 feet in the air. 15 feet up, like a mortifying staircase, lay a pile of lifeless, mutilated, pale corpses. Xander felt sick with fury as he looked at a few stray demons climbing the pile to leap into the way home. He watched as one lost its footing, kicking down the body of only a small child. With an unbridled shout of fury, he scrambled up the pile, his parents following suit. But as he climbed, he realized that they meant to stop him from entering the portal, not to follow him in. He leapt after the demons, and as he soared in, pain immediately gripped his body. His eyes were forced open by some unknown being, and he was made to watch the torment of Hell. If he thought the village was bad, this made him wretch in fear. A single flame sprouted in front of him, slowly growing until he felt his flesh searing. And, just like that, he fell onto the top of the pile. His parents wept behind him, convinced they had lost their son. As they clambered up to cherish him, he looked back, his eyes seemingly lit by flame. They fell back. But he shook his head, clearing his mind from the terrible thoughts that continued to plague him. He returned to normal, and his parents approached slowly. As they trudged home, his folks told him he had been marked by a mysterious entity known only as the 'Ember of Hell.' From there, he found he had fought off whatever evil intent the Ember had. He had harvested the basic power of Hell. His parents explained he was the only being to survive an encounter and remain sane in history. From that moment on, he knew his purpose: He had to fight Hellfire with Hellfire.
    Years passed. So did his parents. They died peacefully, and were given a proper burial by their own son. It had been a long time since the last invasions of Hell, but he felt them coming. Their power pulsed within him, and he swore upon his parents grave that he would uphold the order. When the Demons came, he would be waiting.

    Age: Upon first glance, someone would label Mona as a child, when in reality she is much older than that. She is actually forty years old, which sounds pretty old, but according to Faun standards she actually is a child. Faun become adults when they turn fifty, so she'd be in her late teens according to Human ages.
    Birth Date: March 20th
    Class Type: Beastmaster
    Preferred Weapon: Mona is a pacifist, so she usually avoids fights. When she cannot avoid the battle, she calls upon her beasts to defend her. When she cannot call upon her beasts, she has a spear to defend herself with. She, like other Faun, is capable of limited Arborkinesis, so she can use that to her advantage as well.

    Personality.
    Personality Traits:
    Pomona is still quite optimistic even after she learned about her home, which is pretty strange coming from someone who lost practically everything. She always looks on the brighter side of things, no matter the situation. If she's captured, someone is ought to notice her disappearance. If she is injured, there is still a chance she can live. If she is dying, she'll strive to do all she can before her inevitable departure. Getting her into a state of hopelessness or despair is a hard feat to accomplish, and even if someone manages to do this, a new spark of hope may ignite in a matter of minutes. Pomona has a calming aura--she may or may not have picked this up from Eshkun--and her soothing demeanor can calm down a few animals, people, and the like. She is soft-spoken and rarely raises her voice above it's usual volume, which is just barely audible. This trait is associated with her apparent shyness: she'll hide behind Eshkun, her other companions, or anyone she happens to be with when they're around unfamiliar fellows. It doesn't take her long to get comfortable, though, and before you know it she has already started trusting them. This habit just so happens to be one of her weaknesses, since she places so much trust in one person before she learns about their history, true intentions, etc. She's also quick to forgive, which is often associated with her being quick to trust. If you wrong her or her friends in any way and manage to get her forgiveness, she'll go right back to trusting you. After all, "Everyone makes mistakes". That is her favorite sentence, and she believes it justifies her ways pretty well. Pomona is also pretty skittish when it comes to violence in general, in fact, if someone just threatened another and she'd probably flinch and try to calm them down. When it comes to actual battles, she'll be there with her companions, but she doesn't fight. Usually. If she was required to do so, she has a spear to fight with. Pomona is clearly a pacifist, since she tries her best to both avoid fights and resolve issues before violence breaks out. This ties into her gentle nature: both her movements and words have a certain softness to them.
    Skills: Pomona is a fleet-footed Faun who is adept at dodging and has high finesse. Since she has minimal combat experience--her pacifistic society is to blame for that--she mainly focused on speed, stamina, finesse, and the like. She is light on her feet and hard to hit: even individuals who rely on quick attacks have a hard time striking her. She is also quite flexible, which means she can bend her body in various ways in order to do various tasks: dodging attacks, getting through peculiar-shaped pathways, hiding, and the like. Her earthy colors help her blend in with earthy surroundings, which can be considered a skill. Her deer-like patters may also confuse others, which can be both an advantage and disadvantage. A passive skill she has is her ability to speak to animals, which allows her to understand them far better than those who cannot converse with them. Another passive ability is Arborkinesis, which is limited to growing plants out of practically nothing. Some Faun that were in her village could use the vegetation for combat purposes, but she wasn't into that sort of thing, so she decided to stray away from it. Pomona usually uses her abilities to try and grow plant life wherever she can, emphasis on try. Usually, they wither and die in a matter of seconds. Pomona knows her herbs, which can be considered a skill.
    Weaknesses: Since Pomona is physically weak, fighting is not something she can do easily. Her petite body is also weak when it comes to taking hits, so a well-placed blow will send her to her knees. Stronger attacks might break her bones or rupture something, which is why she relies on her speed and adept dodging capabilities to keep her alive. Pomona is also very gullible and trusts basically everybody, which is dangerous, since she doesn't know who she is trusting. In fact, the poor Faun almost got herself killed by trusting someone. Eshkun had to save her, like always, and Pomona received quite the scolding when they were safe. Her fierce determination and 'everyone can be saved' mindset are weaknesses as well. Another weakness is her reliance on others, since she cannot defend herself.


    History.
    History:
    Pomona was born into a small Faun village buried deep in a dense forest, which meant they were secluded from other civilizations. In fact, not many Faun in her village were aware that other civilizations existed. She had a relatively peaceful life: their village wasn't marked on any maps, so there was no risk of attack. She spent her days learning the basics of Arborkinesis, and managed to finish the unit before the invasion. Nothing too exciting happened between her birth and the day she left: the most exciting event was discovering Eshkun for the first time, since she was unaware that other creatures existed. After the discover of Eshkun, Pomona started to grow curious about the outside world, and started to venture closer to the edge of the forest. However, she quickly stopped adventuring when she was shot by an arrow, which was another exciting event. It was understandable, since she does have the hindquarters of a Fallow Deer. Ever since then, she didn't stray too far from the village. A few more peaceful years passed, and eventually she grew bored of her unevetful life. So, packing her things, she left home in search of something new. Her fear had subsided by them, but she still keeps a lookout for hunters to this day. Everything was going well--Pomona even made a few new friends: Genesis and Aspen--and after a few years of exploring she decided to return home. When she returned to her birthland, Pomona expected to hear the beautiful sounds of nature and have her family and friends greet her when she arrived. However, that wasn't the case. When she arrived to where the forest was supposed to be, the sight shocked here. There were no trees, no animals, no lakes, no streams, nothing. Instead, a large city stood where her village once was, and there were no Fauns in sight. Curious, she decided to investigate. That was a big mistake. When she entered the streets of the city she received strange looks, which didn't settle right with her. When she tried asking around, people ignored her, and some even shooed her away like she was a pest. Eshkun didn't take too kindly to that, and neither did her other two companions. They didn't fight back, though. Confused and slightly frightened, the young Faun continued to wander, searching for anything that might help her understand what happened. Then, while walndering around one day, she stumbled upon another Faun! Overjoyed, Pomona ran up to greet them, but to her surprise they seemed...distant somehow. She bombarded the poor Faun with questions, and after a few moments, they answered. The answers caught her off guard, and when she finally processed them, everything seemed to slow down. While she was gone, their village was experiencing some problems with the neighboring cities. The very hunters that shot her before revealed the location of their home--for a price of course--and its value caused these cities to try and take it. Some went for a civil approach and tried to buy it, but the Faun refused. When they finally had enough, they launched an attack, and practically decimated both the village and the Faun living there. Her parents were among those killed, and her brothers were among those enslaved. The forest had been cut down and the land was leveled to make way for a newer, better city. The thought sent chills down Pomona's spine. The enslaved Faun she was speaking with declined her offer to help, and instructed her to escape. Reluctantly, Pomona agreed, and decided to leave that very night. She experienced troubles, though, and she was almost captured. Eshkun managed to get her to safety, and the two fled from the city, leaving it behind for good. One would think she'd try to liberate her people, but the task would only end in failure. What could she do against a whole city? Even if they did win, where would they go? The forest was destroyed, and finding a new home could potentially take years.

    Finally done with Pomona! The beasts will be done shortly.
    - Genesis: A long, serpentine, and multi-limbed Basilisk who perches himself upon Eshkun's floral antlers. Pomona knows about his powers, but doesn't keep his eyes covered. Why? Well, Genesis actually uses his impeccable sense of smell to navigate his surroundings, since he is blind. So, that means his eyes are only used as a method of self defense, and when he isn't being threatened he keeps them shut. Despite his many, many limbs, Genesis' legs are actually vestigial. He prefers slithering over walking, and usually uses these limbs to anchor himself onto Eshkun's horns, or to grab things. Each leg is equipped with sharp, hooked claws which can easily grip onto her antlers. Also, being a serpentine creature, Genesis has intimidating fangs which hurt like hell when you're bitten. He may not be venomous, but being bitten by him is still sometime you'd want to avoid.

    Personality.
    Personality Traits: rash and brave to to point of foolishness, will rush into danger for a combination of thrills and want to protect others. Wants to go on adventures and fight monsters for no other reason then he thinks it will be fun. Most people would probably think he is stupid due to his actions, but he in fact has a very tactical mind, that he ignores most of the time. He is up beat and sees every difficulty as a challenge to overcome. He also loves to talk even if no one is listening
    Skills: Hiting things, Hiting things harder, some skill in light based holly magic, is able to take a beating, Relm Splinter gives him access to so earth magic if it feels like cooperating.
    Weaknesses: Rushes into danger without thinking, not very skilled at blocking or dodging focusing on killing others before they can attack, relay sucks at stealth often trying to start conversations.


    History.
    History (6 Sentence minimum): Magnus was taken from his family at birth and raised in a temple to the god of light where he was trained in holy magic. He was always treated differently then the other children and he one day learned why. Their was a prophecy about him that said that one day he would become strong enough to split the world and send the demons falling back to hell. It must have been fate then on the day Magnus ran away from his destiny, rejecting his power, into the wilderness that he found Relm Splinter the living weapon that held the power to shape and move the earth.
    The two of them became friends and when on many adventures together until one they bumped into Xander and were offered a place in the Argent Crusaders. Magnus accepted with the goal in mind of one day living up to his full potential

    Personality.
    Personality Traits: Modest, perservering, understanding, unstable (in some situations).
    Skills: He can move fast like lightning, throw bolts of lightning, lightning balls, shields of electrcity and even can create intense rays of radiation as well as use magnetism created from electric fields.
    Weaknesses: Sometimes he does sporadic, thoughtless acts which could get him in trouble. Water makes it harder for him to use electricity if he is soaked in it. Also electricity is the only type of magic Matt can use.


    History.
    History: Matt was born near a human city from the parents of a guild of mages. They studied in the electric arts because electricity flowed through their bones and it was the only type of magic they could use. Moving on, Matt was recruited to the guild to learn the arcane arts. His parents disappeared during a mission in which demons are theorized to have taken them by surprise and killed them. He eventually relocated to a cabin in the woods near a lake, where he continues to learn the arcane arts (as most mages would who aren't super naturals). With the rumors and signs of demons returning, Matt has ventured back into the city in order to find out what is really going on - and best of all, try to help.

  • D&D is life xD Fialan Talthanion started as my d&d ranger character! She uses an oathbow. I freaking love that thing. She's also got a couple magical swords, a quiver of ehlonna and a baby owlbear for an animal companion.

  • ( Yeah, I play d&d! Pretty new to it myself, but i've watched enough critical role to kinda know what i'm doing. Arine is one of my fav characters for a new campaign me and a friend are running & this reminded me so much of d&d that I couldn't not rp her here. )
