  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]The feeling of emptiness was indeed a strange one. It was cruel in its solitude, crushing out any emotion except a bitter calmness that clung to him like a vine of thorns. He laid on the deck of the ship, his gaze aimlessly locked on the night sky. The stars twinkled above him, foreign and cold; was Mary under this same sky, or was she so far away that she saw a different set of stars?

    The way he missed her had become almost comforting in its own right; always in the back of his mind, no matter what emotions controlled him. It tugged at his heartstrings, made him melancholy and impatient. He wanted to go home; he didn't belong among these pirates, and it was becoming more and more obvious as the days past. He missed his friends, his family.

    Everything was so alien now, even himself; his own mind had become a jungle filled with predators, hunting him down and ripping off chunks of his consciousness. His body felt deeply wrong, but there was nothing he could do. He felt like a stranger in his own skin, and he desperately wanted to escape it.

    He was snapped out of his thoughts as Trudy climbed onto his chest and laid down, her glowing eyes meeting his. He cracked a smile at her clinginess, and used one paw to ruffle the fur on her head. Trudy let out a low, purr-like growl of pleasure and leaned into his touch. She was an odd creature, definitely; she seemed quite intelligent at times, but he wasn't sure if she was actually sentient or not. She preferred to cling to others to move around, but she was very fast on her own. She seemed very suspicious of most, but her trust could be gained with time.

    Trudy was an odd thing, definitely.

    She snuggled her head under his chin as he thought, as if she could tell what he was thinking. She let out another long, low purr and blinked contentedly at him. He smiled at her before laying his head back down so he could keep watching the stars.

    The crushing, overwhelming terror and anger swept through him, making him seize up and let out a startled, choking yelp. Before the calmness had been a cruel emptiness, but now he felt like he was overflowing. He couldn't stand, because he knew if he did he'd do something he'd regret. The static clung to him like slick oil, threatening to completely overtake him; he just wanted to hurt something, he needed someone to bleed. The reason didn't matter, the consequences didn't matter, only the primal urge filling him mattered.

    Trudy's fingers sunk into his fur painfully, and he looked at her calm, emotionless eyes.

    The next few seconds felt slow, but to any onlookers it would probably seem like it happened in a moment.

    He lunged for her throat, but Trudy beat him to the punch.

    The demin stood up and yawned, her muzzle covered in blood. Blood spilled out of the tom's neck as he gasped for air, his amber eyes going glossy before eventually completely clouding over as the life drained out of his body. Trudy sniffed his body, her own almost glowing with energy. She hadn't meant to be so violent with him, but mortals were so fragile; Nico especially, with his small frame.

    Trudy didn't know what'd first made her attached to him; maybe the fact that he was a fish out of water, similar to herself. Both stranded in an alien place; in his case an island, in her case a dimension. His overwhelming curiosity, kindness and bravery was like candy to the demonic-like entity. Of course, as more of his personality leaked onto her, more of her inborn aggression leaked into his mind; slowly unraveling it, the poor thing.

    Of course, he'd be fine when she rebuilt him. Better then fine, actually; she'd drain a Morin or two for energy, then build a new Nico. Death was a mere inconvenience to someone like her, anyways.

    Still, to any onlookers it'd be.. A gruesome sight.

    //Temporary death! He'll probably be back by tomorrow evening, so its extremely temporary.

  • Xylia didn't linger onboard the ship most of the time for a couple of reasons, one of which was that she'd explored it several times over. The other was that seasickness got to her every once and a while if the ship rocked a great deal. Having spent a lot of time out in the jungle with Shadow, she had watched him go back to the temple before she'd departed to go back to the ship while the evening light remained. By the time she got back to the ship, the stars were out and the ocean air tugged at her thin and damp fur. Crawling into a barrel to go to sleep for the night would've been next on the agenda if not for the distinct smell of blood. Inside, every muscle locked at the sight of Nico's body on the deck, the blood coming from his throat and staining the floorboards red. The scarlet hue glistened in what little light there was, and she didn't notice Trudy or the blood on the demin herself for a good minute or so. Her mouth opened in a silent scream, not a jumble of questions but what might've been a scream to stir the night. He couldn't be dead. She ran in several quick bounds to his body once her limbs unlocked and decided to listen to her. "N-Nico? Nico!" She didn't know how to react, not to him or to Trudy. Her own body looked stiff and slightly larger with her fur standing on end. "Nico?" Her voice cracked while her forepaws moved to cover the wound in his neck.

    {Relieved it's a temporary death but...wow.}

    She couldn't smell the blood, but was drawn to the scene by Xylia's shrill cries. Her eyes widened as she hurriedly crouched next to her apprentice, trying to stop the flow of blood frantically. No, no! I already lost Rosanne, I can't lose another apprentice! But it was hopeless, he was dead before she even got there. The Captain sat back heavily, numbly. In a few moments she'd be looking for whoever killed Nico with a vengeance, and she wouldn't stop until they were dead.

    //basically: Trudy now's your chance to gtfo. Also my muse just. died alongside Nico I'm so sorry
