Riley was a sound sleeper. Only the loudest could wake her up when she was in a deep sleep. That was why it had surprised her when a crack of thunder ripped through the air woke her up. Storms made her quite uneasy, but it made her feel safer when her love was right by her. She could feel the heat radiating from him and pushed herself closer. It wasn't a very nice den that they lived in. A few boards pushed together behind an old building made up a small hut where they remained. Both families were close by which made them easy to visit. This was good because she was very close to her family. As a streak of lightning tore across the sky, she squeezed her eyes shut and forced herself to sleep. Tomorrow was a new day. Hopefully a great one.

In the morning it was still raining. Not as bad, just a drizzle. That could change quickly, but she decided to go out and find some food. I'll be back. She whispered as she left. She didn't want to wake him up. Riley left with her tail high to go find some food. Today was a new day.

Askaban laid awake almost all night, the storms outside keeping him from closing his eyes. Sometimes during the night, he felt Riley stir, and press closer to him. He knew these storms made her uneasy, but he was impressed it could wake her. He eventually felt her fall back asleep and he licked her ear sweetly, and laid his head next to hers. His breath eventually grew even as his eyes became heavy. He nodded off into sleep.

Askaban was awake when his Riley said she'd be back, he just figured she wanted alone time. Once he was sure Riley was out of sight, he sat up, stretching. He huffed and looked around their neat little den, eventually making his way to the entrance, to stare at the puddles of mud and dirty water.

The night had been hard for the collie. She just came to town from another city. Not with a owner or anything, no, she was a lone dog and moved from place to place because she never got any reason to stay in one city. It had been ahrd to find a place to sleep for the night so she wouldn't get drenched in the rain. Cleo didn't mind thunderstorms but she also didn't like then. Luckily, she managed to find a empty house to sleep in and her fur kept her warm throughout the night.

The next morning, Cleo pushed her way past the open door and made her way out to the street. Now to find some food. It was a bit harder to track a smell because it was raining, but she managed. Spotting a sausgae cart the collie smiled at her luck and snuck her way over so the owner wouldn't see her. Grasping the end of a sausage link, she pulled it out of the cart and took off mentally laughing. Sucker!

She took off down a alleyway and started to slow down once she knew the sausage cart was far behind her. Wrapping the links around her neck, she quietly chewed on one that was hanging from the side when she spotted a male. Uh oh. This could be bad. She knew how territorial some dogs were.

Askaban was sitting lazily at the entrance of the den when he smelt something delightful. He looked around and he spotted a ball of fur, which he then recognised to be a Collie with sausage! He stood up, wagging his tail, his mouth watering. I won't rob you if you spare a piece or two! He called out, teasing the beauty. Riley would love a piece of this, he thought, watching the female closely.

Cleo paused once the male addressed her, but the look of confusion soon turned into one with a smile. Oh yeah? What makes you think you deserve any? She decided to tease back, slowly making her way closer to the brute. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all if she played her cards right and didn't get on his bad side. Cleo could fight, yes, but she'd rather keep the fighting to a minimum.

Riley walked swiftly. She didn't want to be out alone for long. It was dangerous. Humans saw her and assumed she was helpless and needed to be swept up and put in a cage. She had busted out of a place like that before and she was not about to go back. She climbed up to a rooftop and sat there for a few seconds. She could see what felt like the whole world. Wagging her tail, She smiled. Turning to go back down, she caught sight of a dog she hadn't seen before. She knew almost every dog that lived around there and didn't recognize this one. With a shrug, she climbed down and went off to go find something to eat.

She came across a trashcan behind a restaurant. Jumping on her hind legs to get a better view, blue eyes peered in. All she could see was an old piece of meat. Oh well. Anything was good at this point. She plucked it out and began her way back, the rain beating down at a consistent pace. She was wet through her fur, hopefully Askaban would be fine with this. It was all she could find. Riley started her way home at a slow trot.

Askaban grinned a little, stepping forward. "It would make a good bribe to keep me from snatching it all." His tail swayed back and forth, entertained by this new female. His stomach growled and he looked back up at the female. "How about this, I'll tell you who I am, then you give me a piece or two." He chuckled a bit and looked up at the sky. "Better hurry. It'll rain soon." His words sounded intimidating, more than he intended. He looked at the beauty before him and tilted his head a bit, "What do yah say?"

The idea was tempting. Especially since she didnt know anyone here. "Fine." She huffed, turning her head to reach behind her and ripe off two pieces of sausage. Dropping them at her paws, she tilted her head. "Now turn up your end of the deal." The collie stated, keeping a paw in front of the two pieces of meat just in case he decided to try and snatch them up without telling her anything.

"Haha, I knew you couldn't resist. I am Askaban, son of Zeus and Mercedes." He stepped forward more, looking down at the sausage. "May I?" He asked politely, not wanting to scare the female away. His thoughts turned to Riley briefly, and thought about her in the storm that's coming. What if she gets stuck in the storm? What if she's frightened? Alone?
He shook from his thoughts and returned his gaze back up to the female. "What's your name, Lassie?" He teased a bit more, trying to shake his worry for Riley a bit.

After learning the brutes name, Cleo held her up her end of the deal, and tossed him the two sausages. A deal was a deal. Looking up, she tilted her head with a smirk. "Cleo. My name is Cleo." She got the name as a pup. She heard a woman call her daughter it and she thought it was a pretty name ans adopted it as her own. "So. What's a dog like you doing back here all alone?"

"Simply waiting." Askaban chimed, carrying the sausages carefully to the den, tucking them away before rejoining Cleo. He sat down and looked her over, "Cleo, I ask you the same question." He looked into her eyes and spoke assertively. "What is a dog like you doing out here alone?" He looked at the sky again, starting to worry more, but he hides it quickly.

Riley had a strange feeling in her stomach. She didn't know if it was the rotten food she had been picking off lately or what. She picked up her pace slightly while flattening pointed ears. There were humans out despite the rain. What stupid, stupid creatures. Didn't they know to take cover when the weather was bad. She was very out of it at the moment. When she crossed a busy street with cars coming through, she didn't realize she almost got hit. When the human inside honked the horn, it made her jump so she barked loudly with a snarl. Their stupid cars. She walked quickly and went behind a building to continue her way back. She took the long way because even though she wanted to be home, it felt good to be out. She was almost there and there were no distractions from this point on. That was good because she could smell more rain coming on. It seemed that once it started, it never stopped.

The pretty collie gave a shrug. "I'm new in town." She stated looking the male over. Looking at the sky, she let out a huff as she noticed the dark clouds. Couldn't it stop raining for one day? "I live alone so that answers your question." Which had technically been her question that he flipped around to use on her. "I should probably be heading back to my place myself. Don't want to be caught in the rain." Her fur was great for keeping her warm but water always clung to her and made the long fur heavy.

"Well, don't get too wet and try to stat away from back roads, cause that's where the big dogs play." He warned, standing up and turning towards the den. "And this is my den, I share it with a very close friend of mine." The rain began falling by great amounts and Askaban turned around, facing Cleo. "If I were you, I'd get home before you get too wet. Good luck out here." He bid her one last good bye before walking into the den, turning to sit at the entrance, where he could stay a tab bit dry and still watch for Riley.

She was almost there. Then it dumped. With a growl to herself, Riley kept a tight grip on the piece of meat, a determined look on her crystal blue eyes. She was almost there. If she ran it would take about a minute less at her speed. So that's what she did. She ran. All she could hear was the sound of paws and nails hitting the concrete and rain. Lots of rain. She could see the den, but there was something strange. A dog she hadn't seen before. That smell. She stopped and hid behind a corner. She didn't want to be seen.

Cleo nodded at the information. That would definitely come in handy on her way home. "Thanks. Guess I'll see you around handsome." Cleo would admit that she was bit of a flirt. Being alone for a while could do that to a person. Turning around she shook her fur in a attempt to release some of the water. Turning her head she smiled at the male. "And you're welcome for the sausages." With that she bounded off down the alleyway and turend a corner heading back to the house she had stayed in the previous night.

The male smiled as Cleo bounded away, and he turned back and walked into the den, taking the sausages along with him. He was never really the type of brute to go after all the pretty ladies, but he also wasn't completely helpless. Inside, he hoped to see Cleo again, to see how she's doing in this city. The thought of Riley being out in the rain like this made him jump up, running outside in the storm.

  • [center][fancypost=background:transparent; min-height: 40px; width: 470px; line-height: 14px; font-family: arial; font-size: 13px; text-align: justify;]
She watched the collie leave, she narrowed her eyes sharply and flattened her ears. Riley lifted herself to her paws and trotted quickly to make it appear as she had been walking the whole time. She saw Askaban running into the rain and flicked her ears up. Askaban! Wait! She said as she slowed to a stop. She had to yell it for it to be heard over the storm. Where was he going?

Askaban skidded to a stop and turned around, seeing Riley. He ran over to her and instantly began looking over her to make sure she was alright. "Are you okay? Let's get inside before it gets even worse out here!" He nudged here towards the den, the wind picking up. He looked up at the sky as thunder rippled through the clouds and more rain poured on top of them.
