"Be strong enough to stand alone
be yourself enough to stand apart
but be wise enough to stand together when the time comes"

Legend lifted her head to reply to the alpha. "I am well, how about you Aspen? I know it isn't always fun and games leading a pack, that's for certain." She sat up.

"The Devil saw me with my head down and got excited, until I looked up and said 'amen'"

Ruby nodded statically. "That would be great!" She started forward, "Or maybe we find a new secret place that no one knows about. That would be fun too!"

Zeus wagged his tail a little bit, following after her. "like a tunnel or something, or a cave. and it can be our little secret" he told her. "or it can be for small dogs only"

"The Devil saw me with my head down and got excited, until I looked up and said 'amen'"
Ruby laughed, "ya! that's the thing big dogs miss out on. Small tunnels us little dogs get to explore." She sniffed at the ground, now eager to find such a thing.

  • Sugar nodded, "I hope so. But that's just pup talk. I'm sorry your love left you." The sheltie nudged Athena in a way to try and comfort her. She'd hate to see this female go, no one deserved to die in Sugar's eyes, but life must have an end.

Aspen shrugged and sat beside Legend, "You're absolutely right. Its not." He huffed and looked over at her, "Fortunately these guys take care of themselves."

Emerald simply nodded and giggled almost inaudible. "Well its nice to meet the both of you." Almost as if something spooked her, she jumped a little and then looked back over her shoulder. Her attention elsewhere until she head Jack speak. "Oh, well Aspen and I, we go way back. Back when neither of us had a place to be. Long story short, we for serperated crossing a river, I almost drowned and he never looked for me. But he was always like my brother, so idiotically I forgave him." Emerald offered a soft smile and a gentle wag of her tail, hoping they'd ignore her burst of paranoia.

    Felix/Lily/Jack – M/F/M – 5 years – Huskies – Hunters
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The husky's did - in fact - ignore her little jumpy episode, seemingly guessing that that was the cause. Also, it would've been strange if she wasn't jumpy in a territory that didn't belong to her. Although, Felix's ears perked the slightest at her faint giggle, the tip of his tail flickering behind him. Jack didn't notice, and Felix himself ignored it, or tried his best.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Emerald. Must've been rough." Felix spoke up, his voice surprisingly gentle, especially considering his size and temperament. "But now you're back... I must ask, are you planning to stay?" He asked, a bit too much hope in his voice than he'd like. The darker husky then realized the weird and thoughtful look Jack was shooting him. "For Aspen, of course! And the pack could always use a member of her skills." Felix tried to defend himself, his ears flickering backwards for a second because of how much of an excuse it sounded like.

But then again, wasn't it actually an excuse?

Legend nodded and with a teasing grin she added, "it's definitely good that you are not running a pack full of pups. Imagine how big of a mess that would be!" In her mind's eye she imagined the pups flopping around on their small useless legs, trying to hunt.

    Zeus~1 1/2 years~Male~Searching for a mate~Hunter

Zeus continued forward after ruby. "yes. i hope we find one. maybe if we find a rabbit and scar it, but don't kill it and just follow it back to it's den, that could work" he suggested

  • Ruby followed excitedly. They probably should be hunting, but what's wrong with a little adventure from time to time? Plus, if things didn't work out they could simply catch a rabbit.

  • Sugat nodded, "Well, I better go check up on everyone else. I'll be back to check on you Athena." Sugar smiled and left, immediately picking up Emerald's scent. She followed it directly to the group of huskies and then sat, dumbfounded.

Aspen laughed, "I would not ever dream of leading a group of pup. Athena's are most likely going to be a handful. I just hope she comes out alright." He had a hint of concern in his voice, he tried hiding it. Athena was a doll, to Aspen he always seemed to find comfort in her. Now he might lean on Legend. "Have you ever seen the moon and stars reflect on our lake?" His ears twitched a bit to listen to the sounds around him.

The green orbs flicked over to the dark colored pelt, searching into his eyes. Something sounded different in his tone, and towards the end, panicky. Emerald nodded, "Perhaps I might stay. Depends on how at home I feel. I'll give it a few days, then I'll decide whether I want to leave or not." Her curiosity peaked when it came to these two, and she wasn't quite sure what to think about them. She admired the way they communicated. Much like how her and Aspen used to...

    Felix/Lily/Jack – M/F/M – 5 years – Huskies – Hunters
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Felix nodded with relief hidden amongst the silvery color of his eyes, his gaze momentarily flickering over towards Sugar as she approached, noting the dumbfounded look and understanding why she had it, before looking back at Emerald. He made a quick, and probably rash, decision.

"Emerald, I would love to hear more stories of when you and Aspen were younger" He started off, mentally adding a 'not only because Aspen is the Alpha and it could be fun to have some stories about him when he wasnt' as he stood up, standing tall. "So would you like to follow me to the river, where we'd be able to get some water after the little hunt we had, as well as some privacy" and then the pack won't be able to find you as quickly and perhaps act aggressively and scare you off. He knew that not everyone would've liked the presence of a stranger in their territory, old pack member or not. Heading towards the river would give Aspen some time to inform everyone as well, if he so wished to.

Jack listened to Felix' first few words, but quickly realized he was no longer speaking to everything, but just to her. This made the brother smile, but he coughed to try and hide it. Instead Jack turned his attention to Sugar, noting the surprised look she had. It didn't surprise him that some would find it strange for a stranger to hang out here without an explanation. "Hello, Sugar. Had a busy day?"

Winter-age:4, mood: curious and on alert.

Winter was a run away stray from home. A home that was great to her, and one day set her outside and never let her back in. Winter from there on out started to tend for herself, and keep a great distance from bigger dogs. She knew how to survive alone now; has been living out in the wild for 2 and a half years. But today it might change, she was feeling rather adventurous, and decided it would be a "brilliant" idea to go out and see what else was beyond the small den she had been sharing with another mutt The other dog had gone out to hunt for herself. The two did not bond well, but learned to live together. So, if Winter was to never come back. I bet that other dog would be happy to finally have the den all to herself. Winter flared her nostrils into the air, and sensed a scent. A scent very strong, and as she continued to approach the territory, she found herself smelling all kinda of new sense. It cause the fellow dog to want to go see what these scents were about, so she started to slowly invite herself into this new territory. She had never known the rules about packs, or that it is was not the most brightest thing to do; is invite yourself in without permission. Again though, this was all new. And her genuine curiosity could be seen through like glass, she was smelling everything, and her eyes darted from place to place at the new surroundings. "Does anyone live here?", Winter asked herself, slightly confused. She could smell other dogs, but did not exactly know where they were. Winter looked around and then decided she would yell out a signal, see if anyone came to help the clueless newbie. She looked up into the sky, her throat stretching, and her jaw opening. She let out a loud, and deep howl, a long one too, and then stopped, waiting to see if someone might come. "Hopefully someone heard me.", Winter said to herself and sat down in the dirt.

"Be strong enough to stand alone

Legend sighed, "me too. She's such a good dog and her pups would be so sad that they never got to know her if she doesn't." She cocked her head at his question, "sadly, I haven't' been out at night enough or near the lake when I do. Once when I was hunting I caught a gleam of it in the corner of my eye but was chasing a rabbit and didn't get a chance to actually look at it. By the time I caught the rabbit I had forgotten about it!"

"The Devil saw me with my head down and got excited, until I looked up and said 'amen'"

Ruby stopped, mid-step. "Zeus, is it just me that heard that?" She lifted her nose to sniff the air, "it's a dog that we don't know." She looked at him with a smile, "this could be an adventure." She shot forward toward the shiba inu and slowed down once she got near her so she wouldn't scare her. She was generally very shy around new dogs, but she was rather desperate for an adventure now that Zeus got her on that track. "Hello? Yes, there are other dogs here. We have a pack." She stepped forward, "what brings you here?"

  • Aspen nodded, chuckling, "Well, if you find yourself wishing to see the scenery at night, let me know. I'd love to go wit-" The howl broke his sentence. It was faint, but his ears twisted and turned until he found the direction, then sniffing the air. "I better go check this out. Come with?" He asked, wanting to nudge her a bit into being a leader. He wasn't sure where his beta has been, but surely he'd show for this.

Emerald smiled and for a moment, completely thought Jack was gone. Felix had asked for a walk, just a walk. "I have a number of stories Felix, and water sounds great." She looked away from Felix and then to Jack, then her eyes looked down momentarily, as if stuck in thought. "Just know I won't be swimming any time soon." Emerald immediately felt bad after snapping at Felix like that, so she stood, dipping her head in apology, "I'm sorry Felix, Jack, I should go." The red and white pelted female turned to the right and trotted away, her head down.

Sugar watched the scene carefully, wondering what Felix was going to do now. "I've been with Athena, then I smelled a new dog. Didn't expect Felix to be so awake." She turned her attention to Jack, "Did any injuries occur this afternoon? I heard on the way that there was some chase this morning." The collie watched as the female husky trotted away, a small limp on her right side. "Also she's limping."

    Felix/Lily/Jack – M/F/M – 5 years – Huskies – Hunters
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jack stared after Emerald, lightly surprised by the sudden turn of events, but Felix had run after her before he could suggest it himself. Deeming Felix had control over the situation - and he didn't think his brother would mind extra time with the new dog, as she seemed to catch his interest like very few did - the remaining brother turned towards Sugar, listening to her words and nodding lightly at her observation.

"Trust me, I'm surprised he's awake as well. A summoning from the Alpha is apparently a very efficient way of getting him up, but why he hasn't gone to sleep again, I have no idea." Jack spoke, glancing away from the two huskies walking away, and looking at the Collie once more. "He's probably got it under control. Anyway, no injuries no, other than a small scrape I got as we hunted the stranger dog, who turned out to be Emerald. Nothing I haven't have handled though. Are you alright? You keep asking others if they have injuries, but do you have any? It doesn't seem like many ask you that."

"Emerald! Wait up!" Felix called out, trotting after her before stepping in front of her once they had gotten out of sight of the others. He blocked her path and lifted her head with his muzzle, his silvery gaze flickering from one green orb to the other, ears tipping backwards ever so slightly at the guilt in them. "So, I'm not gonna ask what happened, because it seems like something you'd rather not talk about. You can talk to me about it if you wish, but for now, I just want to hear if you'd still be interested in that trip down to the river?" The larger, black/white pelted husky assumed that dismissing the earlier scene would be best, and also act as a sign that he had already forgiven her for snapping. Hell, he often snapped at the other dogs, also his siblings, if he had had a particularly late night, or had had a period where he hadn't slept for more than 48 hours, which had happened a few times. So he understood, and offered her a warm smile as he patiently awaited a reply from her, desperately hoping for the guilt to fade away and her eyes ignite with energy once more. He wasn't quite sure why he wanted that so bad, but didn't think too much about it.

"Be strong enough to stand alone
be yourself enough to stand apart
but be wise enough to stand together when the time comes"

Legend nodded, "sure thing." She stood, "lead the way." She scented the air but did not smell anything yet. Then she added with a grin, "and I may have to take up that invitation some night soon."

  • Emerald stopped once Felix stepped in front of her. Her green eyes stayed looking down and she shook her head, "I think a walk sounds nice. I just don't like deep water." She looked up at him felt small, but this wasn't like her. The husky offered a small smile to the male and he ears laid back against her skull, embarrassed at her childish behaviour.

Aspen nodded and smiled, "Perfect." He walked beside Legend to where the new dog was. "Who are you?" He growled, wanting to sound intimidating. He nodded to Ruby, in thanks for getting to this female so quickly.

Sugar looked at Jack, surprised he had asked how she was doing. No one really does. "You're correct to assume that no one really asks." Felix and this Emerald girl had walked away, and I guess telling one person couldn't hurt. "I've had a terrible headache lately. A few mornings I've woken up weak. But none of my medicine seems to help." She couldnt diagnose herself, which was very unusual. "I think it's just the time of year." Sugar looked at Jack and then looked around, to make sure no one had heard her.
