Delilah § 3 yrs old § Hunter § Searching for mate § In heat § Tags; Scout

Delilah looked at the water as they approached it and her tail wagged as she padded up to it. Her nose went down to the water and sniffed it before lifting her head back up. "It really is nice" Delilah commented.

The large shepherd smiled as he watched her explore. Seeing her reaction to this made his heart soar in ways he never thought it could. The black brute chuckled again at her sneeze when she got close to the water. All the male could think was how happy she was and how happy that made him. His eyes were light and full of happiness as she came back over to him. "I had a feeling you'd enjoy this as much as me. It's quite a beautiful sight" Coal stated, watching her before he began padding towards the water. "Follow me" He said, taking a path that curved out behind the waterfall. The droplets beaded on his fur as he padded behind it, stopping just inside the cave. It was illuminated by the blue of the water mixed with the sun. Inside, the cave floor was made of smooth stones that didn't hurt his paw pads, but he'd made a nest in there of leaves and grasses as well as moss. He'd lay in here and enjoy the blue light from the water and relax for at least a couple hours.

"Do you like swimming?" He moved forward, his front paws already in the water. "The current is gentle, we could swim in it." He wadded in further, his back paws now in. "Not to cold either."

Lily nodded in agreement to his comment of her liking it and the beauty of the place, before following behind him, the smile still comfortably settled on her maw as she couldn't stop looking around. Once they stepped into the cave, the husky's jaw dropped open once more at the impossibly more gorgeous sight. This time she didn't move or explore, too caught up in how absolutely breathtaking it was, afraid to move in case it broke the almost magical feeling. "This is... wow... I can't find words for it! How did you find this place?" As she spoke the last few words, her head turned to look up at the blackpelted dog, head tilted and eyes glinting, curiosity heavy in her slightly breathless voice.

She nodded, slipping easily into the water. "Wow, it isn't that cold and I love the water" Delilah was fully in the water as she began to slowly swim. "You gonna join me?" She barked towards Scout.

Coal enjoyed the way she was admiring all this. It made his heart soar as he watched her. " Come lay down by me. I'll tell you" He told her, padding over to his nest. He scraped out some of the bedding to make a comfortable spot for Lily two feet away from him. He laid down in his nest, before launching into his story. "I was out on my own one day, the day before the beta stepped down. I had been hunting this rabbit, when it scurried into a bramble bush. The brambles and thorns picked and torn at my fur and skin. My black fur was dotted with red but I kept chasing this rabbit. It wasn't until I made it through this stick entrance, loosing the rabbit in the process. I found this place and it was so peaceful that, I kept coming back in times of stress or confusion. The calm feeling helps me clear my head" Coal finished his story, watching her reaction.

Lily's cheeks flushed red at his request, the fur luckily hiding that fact as she padded over to him on light paws, settling down quickly. Although the request was innocent enough, she still put a lot of meaning into it, maybe also because of her tendency to overthink. He wouldn't just ask anyone to lay close to him, and especially not make a makeshift bed for them, considering he's the beta, and in her opinion, was interesting and attractive enough to get just about any female, and able to intimidate any male with his posture and size.

She didn't get any further with her thinking before he started telling, and captured her full attention immediately, soft brown eyes only drifting away shortly to gaze upon the breathtaking sight before returning to his. She hummed gently in understandment of the last part about finding some peace and quiet amongst the scurry and hurry of the group and other dogs. It must be especially hard for him, since he has a high rank. "I can relate to that, it can all be quite hectic from time to time." She said, voice low and as soft as her small smile, drawing her eyes away from his to once again look at the sight around them.

The Alpha looked around, happy to see everyone finding someone for themselves, but he was jealous. He supposed it was alright though, seeing that being Alpha meant he needed to be totally focused. Sugar was taking care of Athena, so the pups would be delivered safely as soon as they were ready. He sat alone, thinking.

The sheltie looked at Athena, awaiting a reply.

Alexander's slender long-legged figure sauntered along the outskirts of the dog pack's territory and rounded a sharp corner to circle around and head west in search of a meal to eat. Today, he had a bit of a pep in his step, he bounced a little with every step, and his tail lashed about. He was filled with pride, and he felt content and lighthearted, because today, he knew something big was coming up.
After long moments of tranquil silence weaving past the thick trunks of the towering trees, he still had not had any luck in terms of hunting. Holly had been with him at the beginning, but he insisted that they go their separate ways for now.
It should be easy for Holly, she's got the strongest nose I've ever seen on a dog. I just hope I can at least catch something small for today
Alexander wanted to doubt himself, but he couldn't. He grinned and padded down a rocky bank by a slow creek, beginning to feel that lighthearted feeling again.
I'm going to catch a fish. And maybe even a river mouse.
His skin tingled with excitement as he slid into the still water. It crept all the way up to his throat quickly and it forced him to lift his paws up off the bottom of the river. His posture remained elegant, and he paddled through the creek calmly by moving his forelegs in a long sweeping motion. The creek was wide enough for it to take him actual effort to cross it, and it was a long way down South before the rapids would pick up speed and become dangerous for any dog. Cranes flew past briefly overhead, and the trees swayed gently in the breeze. Alexander turned to his right and cast his gaze upon a creamy white goose who floated peacefully on the surface of the water; his nostrils flared as he caught the pungent smell wafting from the stinky water bird.

A plump white dove fled by Holly's eyes in a flurry of white and grey feathers, and about a dozen more scrambled frantically around her feet trying to escape. The colossal she-hound, however, had hunted much faster birds than that lazy lot, and she had no trouble grasping them between her massive jaws.
By the time she was finished with them, she marveled at the amount of birds she was able to take down, and how much blood and feathers had stuck to her muzzle and paws.
"Whoa! 4 of em'! That's a new record for me. Those birds must have slept on it or something because that was a breeze compared to the things i've had to deal with." Holly barked a hearty chuckle, and lowered her head to examine the prey "so glad I finally found something to eat. I just wish Alex was here, so he could help me carry all this."
Holly then pulled away from the carcass and tilted her head back, baying loudly out of excitement. Her tail thrashed side to side and she grinned.

//its ironic that Holly is the lowest ranking hunter because shes amazing at it-

Ruby shook her head, "I think we should just focus on bringing the eggs back to camp right now. We don't want them to break and there's a possibility the mom might lay more." She jumped out of the tree, careful not land on Legend or the seven eggs next to her. "Unless you want to stay and wait for them," the small dog added. "We could come back later too," Legend said. She bent down her head and carefully grabbed two of the small eggs in her mouth, making sure not to damage them in the least. "We might need someone to guard the eggs. There's no way we're getting these all back ourselves," Ruby voiced Legend's thoughts.

Legend nodded, Ruby said, "we'll be quick." Ruby picked up an egg in her mouth, there were four left. Legend was satisfied, on their next trip they could take all of them since Zeus wouldn't have to guard them anymore. Legend trotted off, to weary to run in fear of breaking the eggs with her quick motion. Ruby was soon after her. When they arrived at camp Legend trotted right up to Aspen and put her two eggs down in front of her and Ruby did the same. "Alpha, Zeus, Ruby, and I have found bird eggs. Where should we put them to ensure that they do not break before they are eaten?"

Coal looked over at her, his brown eyes bright as he listened to her. "One of my favorite things to do to relax is swim. This water feels much nicer than simple river water. The waterfall brings fresh spring water down from the mountain" He commented, trying to lighten the mood a little. Maybe get a little more interaction with Lily and things might change between them, maybe. He always enjoyed the water, and the waterfall was very relaxing to swim through. It wasn't fast flowing and hurt, but nice and slow.

Coal nodded, standing to his paws. He padded out from behind the waterfall, and headed down the path to the shallower section of the pool. He slowly walked in, looking back to see if Lily had been following. He felt his thick fur fill with water as he swam. Luckily, he was a strong swimmer and the thick fur wasn't all that bad. His brown eyes gazed around the pool before swimming towards the waterfall. He felt it run over his head and down his back in a calming way.

Scout heard laughter escape from his muzzle again and he swam after the golden retriever vigorously. He had difficulty doing so at first since he had to go up stream to do it, he gave serial powerful pushes against the water and shot forward at Delilah, bumping her in her side with his nose, "now you're it again!" He then swam with the current to quickly get away from her.

Lily had stopped briefly to test how cold the water was with a paw, but other than that she showed little hesitance to join him, sliding gracefully into and through the water, her fur clinging to her form and a smile resting on her maw as she dove around a bit before approaching him. With a teasing grin she splashed some water at him, a light-hearted laughter bubbling in her throat as her eyes glinted with joy and glowed with warmth. The feeling of the water, the sound of the waterfall, Coal's presence - it all created such a peaceful and nice setting that she never really experienced before, and found herself enjoying immensely and treasuring dearly. She couldn't possibly thank him enough for showing her this, but once again she wondered why he was showing her, specifically, this hidden paradise.

Alexander watched the goose intensely, his primal instincts beginning to kick in. It sat there on the water eyeing him briefly, just before it turned carelessly and began to swim downstream. Alexander followed swimming as fast as he could at the goose.
The bird whirled around quickly and attacked, and Alexander had to endure a blow to the snout. The scar stretched from the bridge of his nose down to his lip.
"Now you're asking for it!" The furry black male roared and snapped at the goose's neck. It yelled back to Alexander as he returned the scar. The bird had an open wound, and he took advantage of the bird's loss of balance. Swiftly, Alex snatched it by it's neck tightly and headed for the shore; with some difficulty, since the goose spend all of the rest of it's energy yelling and squirming. Upon reaching the shore, the goose finally grew weak, and then limp. It's lifeless body laid there between Alex's strong jaws.
It took him some time to find the camp again, but it was definitely worth walking back. Now he had a massive dead bird to feed the pack.

    •Holly•Female•Hunter•3 years•

Holly flipped 2 of the dead birds onto her shoulders, and carried the other two between her jaws. She plowed on through the woods without stopping once, eager to show off her wonderful catch to everyone. Holly could just see it; how impressed the alpha would be. She sighed.
It'll teach Alexander not to doubt me with his sissy bob-tailed-fat-nosed self.Least I can catch a decent meal

Holly was not angry with Alexander, nor did she dislike him at all, but it was sort of their thing to insult eachother in a friendly way. Alexander had called holly a loud-mouth, putrid-breathed, hillbilly jerk last sunset, and Holly had to come up with an even more shocking one to top it.
