He was aware of the weird new animals, but he didn't know anything about their temperaments or what to expect if he randomly ran into one. Well. he'd run into one.

He was pretty sure that Nico and Sel were calling this kind Gooroos, but all he registered was that there was a large animal suddenly pinning him to the ground, nose mere inches from his face and neck. Fuck! He thought, squirming under it but unable to escape it. It leaned down, even closer to his face, then licked his fluffy cheek. Well, that wasn't very threatening unless this thing had saliva like a komodo dragon's or something, but he doubted that. "H-hi there." Ryan said, and it licked him again. Well, it seemed he'd managed to finally make a friend.

this is so bad kill me

Seeing a Gooroo pinning Ryan down brought an amused smirk to Sel's face. Sure, the Gooroos didn't have an aggressive temperament and it probably wouldn't remove his face or anything, so she didn't feel the least bit guilty about enjoying the situation. Or imagining the animal doing so, though that actually should make her feel a bit of shame. "It doesn't speak English, you know." Sel said, flopping down lazily.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]The elation of the chance to get so close to one of these larger inhabitants of the second island was almost outweighed by the fact that Ryan was in a much better position to observe it. Still, as Nico trotted over with a bundle of herbs in his maw he couldn't help but feel in awe at the creature's raw power.

Nico set the herbs down and fumbled for his notebook, trying to bite back a snicker at Sel's quips. He might not get another chance like this, and he wasn't going to let the hilarity of the situation distract him!

"Try petting it, very slowly." Nico said, pencil in paw as he switched between writing and sketching absentmindedly.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Ah, of course Sel should show up now of all times. Of course. "I know that." He said irritably, not able to give her a look that communicated the frustration he felt towards her. Then, naturally, Nico arrived. As if the humiliation couldn't get any worse. "How do I know that won't make it attack?" He wouldn't put it past the Apothecary Apprentice to have him do something to anger the animal.
