On a sunny Friday morning, the students of Blizzard Elementary School would be attending the local zoo. The teachers had thought it would be a great idea to expose the children to nature and different animals, but little did they know, hell was going to be raised. Or, at least when Tommy DeVito decided to show up.

The students had just passed through the ticket lines and were now officially in the zoo. "Okay, kids! Please stick together and follow me. We'll be seeing the monkeys first." One of the teachers called out and began to walk towards the exhibit.

Tommy DeVito, the little brown-haired troublemaker, trudged along with the group as he dug his hand into a bag of peanuts. "This is boring already." He groaned before popping one into his mouth. "When are we gonna see the tigers and stuff? I'll outta push Mrs. Allie into the tiger cage for givin' us homework over th' weekend." Charming, wasn't he?[fancypost=border-width:0; font-size: 8pt; text-align: center; line-height: 95%; width:400px;] ✧ —I'M NO GOOD FOR YOU /[color=white] TAGS

Giuliano Walter DeVito, or Julian, Jules, and finally JW to his friends. He was all of eleven years old, and quite proud of his age, he was a talented soccer play at Blizzard Elementary, and he managed to keep his grades up, but he was only eleven, it wasn't like Elementary School was all that important neither was Middle School, only High School and college. The boy shaded his eyes and looked around as he jumped off the bus. He wondered where his friends were, would he be stuck with his little brother? He didn't want to babysit the kid, he was too old for that! And also, while they weren't on bad terms, they weren't always on good terms either. JW wore a clean white shirt with wrinkled slightly torn jeans, and dirty black sneakers. His hair was messy because he couldn't be bothered to comb it, especially not for a field trip which he didn't want to go on.

Soccer ball in hand he clung to it, he went everywhere with it, after all, he never knew when he'd have a chance to play. "Yo T! That's not nice... don't let mama or padre hear you say that." He added, aiming to gently punch his brother's shoulder with his free hand. He didn't like zoos that much, they were boring, he could be hanging with his friends and not doing... this. "But, Vi posso aiutare." The thoughtful big brother added, he didn't want Tommy to feel bad, and he was sure snapping at him like that would.

He had been to the zoo a few times before with his own family and it's novelty was lost on him but the fact that he could get out of lessons to attend this trip was enough to tantalize him. Class was boring, he'd take observing the same animals again over math, history, english, and all that. Even so, some of the animals were interesting to observe, especially the bonobos. Those were his favorite types of primates considering their strange habits. Upon hearing that they were to visit the generalized 'monkey' exhibit first, he wasn't mad at it. Ignoring the two Italians for the time being, Mieczyslaw would whisper to his brother, "imagine one of the monkeys flinging poo at someone." Start some good ass baby-sized banter.

[font=georgia]The zoo was a...decent option. He preferred it better than just sitting in class all the day, listening to the teacher drone on and on about something, even if he had been here before. Seeing the monkeys first? That was what he liked to hear. They honestly were the most entertaining as they were active and running around and doing monkey stuff. Sure, people always said that there were more exciting things but all the impressive big cats did were lay around like impressive big turds.

He glanced over at his brother at his comment. "I think most of them have glass in front of the viewing areas, unfortunately," he returned, almost with a touch of sadness to his voice.

Çelina followed close behind the teacher, glancing over her shoulder as the boys behind her spoke. The nine-year old wasn't trying to be a 'teacher's pet' it was just that she didn't know anyone here well enough to partner up and this trip genuinely interested her, and not just because they'd gotten out of class. She imagined one day that she'd be a veterinarian and able to help animals like these. So, she walked hurriedly along, her blonde pig tails bouncing as she almost jumped with excitement. Maybe their group could also get a glimpse of the giraffe calf that'd been born not too long ago!

  • Little Hashkeh was on the younger side of the kids crowding behind the teacher ahead. he was simply only 8 years old and one would've though he would be all over the place, but no. In fact, the child cowered near the teacher at nearly all times clearly rather skittish and timid, a boy of little words.
It made sense that the child was quiet though, he had quite a tragic upbringing.
Mother died in a reserve suffering from poverty, father nowhere to be seen being passed along to foster homes constantly switching schools. He didn't expect this school to last long, but still, he glued himself to the teachers instantly. The loud, outgoing nature of the other children spooked the long-haired boy.

He did like the zoo though.
Haskeh adored animals. He once went into a foster home that had a therapy dog and since then he was head over heels for creatures like that. Hearing that he was going to see the monkeys, the olive-skinned child was ecxited to be treated with such a sight, however, that excitement was contained under a rather terrified and timid look.

Following after the group of children, was the airheaded boy, Titus Alexius. Compared to the other students attending Blizzard Elementary School, there was something a bit off about the little blonde. He didn't have anything wrong with him, per say. Everything was fine about the boy; it was more so because of the fact that he was so awkward around his classmates. The youth wasn't exactly shy or timid. He just had a strange obsession for dogs and puppies. That was the only reason why he was attending this field trip in the first place. If it wasn't for Mrs. Allie lying to him about there being a puppy exhibit in the zoo (though he wasn't aware that this was a lie just yet), he would have never gone. No puppies, meant no fun. He would have rather just stayed home and read a book or something, not walk around in the hot scorching sun. The petite boy adjusted the strap of the ebony overalls he was currently sporting as he struggled to catch up to his classmates. If his ears weren't fooling him, then he was pretty sure that they had been informed that they were going to go see the monkey exhibit. Titus pouted as he plodded after them. Aww, what? What about the puppies? The blue-eyed youth held back a sigh as he continued to follow the group. He decided to entertain himself by singing a little jingle he had come up with on the spot.

Once he caught up to them, he couldn't help but eavesdrop on what the school's troublemaker had to say. He agreed that this was boring, but he wasn't interested in seeing the tigers. "Forget the tigers," he chimed in, while he took out the lollipop he had been saving out of the pocket of his overalls. "I wanna see the uppies," The blonde finished, forgetting to sound out the -p in puppies. And as for the thing about pushing Mrs. Allie into the tiger cage, he wouldn't have approved it, but would have wanted to do it if he were to have found out that she had been lying to him about the puppy exhibit. The Alexius boy would not have been a happy camper if that were to have been the case. He most likely would have made a huge fit about it by throwing an over the top temper tantrum just to get his way. It was just a shame that this zoo would have been the only way for him to see his favorite animal in the whole wide world. Unfortunately for him, his parents were both allergic to dogs. Just dogs, nothing else. It was extremely unfair, but what could he have done about it? He resumed to listen in on the conversations the siblings were having with each other and scowled when he heard Mieczyslaw's comment. Gross. He didn't want to be that unlucky person and get his clothes ruined.

  • [center][fancypost= border-width: 0px; width: 450pt; font: arial][align=justify][size=10]young(er) peri reference

One girl stood apart from the main group, long black hair flowing in the slight breeze as she wandered through the zoo. Big grey eyes peered about the area, head constantly on a swivel as if she could not possibly see everything at once. Whenever a man passed by her, she ducked away to the saftey of one of the female chaperones before resuming her awestruck meandering, and she constantly massaged the palms of her hands; presumably to cal, her nerves. Aside from the dark, dark hair and nervous demeanor, what was striking about the girl was that she wore a plain black dress with long sleeves. It was nearly summer and the temperature was nearing unbearably hot, and yet this young girl refused to wear anything with sleeves that did not reach her wrists. She would would rather be hot and miserable than to be questioned about the bruises on her arms. She might say something to a teacher and Daddy hated when she told teachers about "family business."

Peri was younger than most of the children present, as she happened to have already skipped a couple grades. At the age of eight (at the cusp of nine), she was already in fifth grade. That was because she could remember everything she ever read, and the teachers thought she was smart enough to skip grades. Everybody at Blizzard Elementary School was fascinated with her uncanny ability to remember things in vivid detail. They showered her with nearly too much attention for the shy girl, but she most certainly appreciated it. Mommy and Daddy hated that she was smart, so it was only at school that she could stop pretending to be dumb. In fact, Peri's parents hadn't even signed the permission slip to go on the field trip, but she could not bear the thought of missing out on something so fun, so she forged her father' she signature. Typically, lying and cheating was out of the question, but nobody knew the difference. All there was left to do was hope that nobody mentioned to Mr and Mrs Arceneau about their trip to the zoo, and Peri was home free.

Tommy's comment made her cringe. How rude! Why would he want someone to get hurt? "T-that's mean," she scolded in a soft voice, doing her best to form her narrow visage into that of a disappointed glare. Truth be told, Tommy scared her half to death, but she would not let him get away with being rude to one of the few adults who actually took care of her. peri wanted to say more, but her confidence wavered and she ducked away shyly. "U-um, does anyone know when we are going to see the wolves?" She loved wolves. Even if they were just sleeping in a corner, it would be amazing to see them. That went for all of the animals - unlike Aleksei and Tommy, she was not bothered by the inactivity of the zoo animals. If she had thousands of people staring at her through glass and talking and shouting and bothering her to do something, she would take a nap too. If you ignored them long enough, they eventually went away.

  • [center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; text-align: justify;][font='Times New Roman, Times, serif'][size=12]Sure, Nathaniel liked the zoo, and he'd been ecstatic when the trip was announced, but he wished that no chaperones had come. He'd only been to the zoo a few times before (according to his mother, it was too far away, and his father always said 'maybe' on his next birthday. Nathaniel wasn't stupid. He knew that meant never) and wanted to see what he wanted to see, when he wanted to see it. Waiting for where the teacher decided to take them next didn't sit well with him.

The small boy—Nate was in the younger age group—was right in the front of the pack. Who knew, maybe he'd be able to convince one of the chaperones to let him choose the next destination. The conversation of the adults was boring, though, and as the voices of his classmates and friends drifting toward him, he slowed down, waiting until he was walking alongside them.

"My pa says that we used to be monkeys," he offered, face screwed up slightly. That didn't sound totally right, but as long as no one else corrected him, he'd be looked to as a sort of expert. "Anyway, if you feed Mrs. Allie t'the tigers, you'll be put inta jail." He stuck his tongue out at Tommy. It'd be nice if Tommy went to jail—he was too noisy.

Çelina listened as the boys spoke amongst themselves behind her but didn't say anything nor join their group. They were here for the animals, and the talk of pushing people into cages and throwing poo was inappropriate in her opinion. So, she continued at the front of the group with a new resolve to avoid any such conversations. At first, she assumed something like that would come about when yet another boy hurried to walk alongside her. "I'm okay, but if you're here to talk about killing our teacher, I'd ask that you not." Her voice was firm, but her tone wasn't cold and she found herself returning Joe's smile. "You wonder if we'll see the giraffes? My mom said they have a calf." the girl added, eyes wandering to watch the people that paraded back and forth along the path.

  • [center][fancypost= width: 450px; text-align: justify;][size=11][font=timesnewroman]"Ptff," Ophelia scoffed, shaking her blonde curled head at the mention of giraffes. "They stink," the young girl remarked bluntly, her skinny legs making wide strides as she kept pace with the other children and adult chaperones. "And wolves are shy - I've been here before - you don't see anything from them; they're boring." She had waited by the fence for a full five uninterrupted minutes without catching a single glimpse of them before losing her patience and moving on, bribed with ice-cream by her uncle. "I want to go see the seals - last time they did tricks."

TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — joe was a bit hurt at Çelina's first comment, but chose to ignore it since he wasn't gonna talk about that stuff. he was about to respond when ophelia said how giraffes "stink." glaring at her, he turned to Çelina, and offered a smile. "I think that will be exciting! I've never really seen giraffes before." the british boy admitted, blushing softly.

  • life's a dance you learn as you go

Çelina glanced back briefly as another girl commented on the giraffes' smell. "They can't help it," she said. They were animals. It wasn't as if they knew how to use soap. When Joe confessed he'd never seen giraffes, the blonde haired girl raised her eyebrows and smiled softly. "Wait 'till you see the baby. I'm sure he'll be cute." Then, turning back to Ophelia, she asked, "What kind of tricks?" Çelina usually stayed away from the marine animals. It wasn't that she didn't like them, just that she liked the African animals area best and so spent most of her time there.

  • [center][fancypost= width: 450px; text-align: justify;][size=11][font=timesnewroman]"It's true," she simply shrugged. Sticking her tongue out at Scout as he glared at her, her attention shifted back to Çelina as the other girl spoke up again, inquiring more after the seals. "They jump through the coloured hoops the zoo-keepers hold up," Ophelia was happy to exemplify, her hands raising as she mimicked the size of the hoop, or at least of how wide she thought they were. "They can clap too, and they'll jump and dance for fish." Why fish? Seals were weird. "Ooh, and they can bounce balls on their noses too!" She would have loved to play with them, but unfortunately the seals were off-limits when it came to being petted.

He glanced at Ophelia as she went on about the seals. "Seals? Pfft." The only thing good about seals were their teeth. "If you love 'em so much then why don't you go and jump into the water wid' 'em?" Tommy rolled his eyes and muttered to Jules, "Huh. Girls."

The class had finally made it to the monkey exhibit. The kids filed in, trying to see the animals, but those such as Tommy were growing a little impatient. "Move, eh? Lemme see." The little boy pushed through the crowd to the front, and he peered into the enclosure, seeing a single monkey sitting on a tree branch. He was nibbling on something, perhaps a fruit. "That's it?" Tommy huffed. He wanted to see monkey fights or something!
