  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]He didn't know why Lucy was doing this. Well, he sort of did, but he didn't. He didn't know why she was covering for Vader and pinning the marks on her neck on him, but he knew why she'd stabbed his wrist and he guessed he knew why she was making him apologize to Nico, despite her apprentice starting the fight.

She was trying to put him down for the things he'd done in their past, and she was testing him, trying him. She wanted a reason. Ryan hoped she wanted a reason to take him back, but deep down he knew she was looking for a reason to kill him or cast him out, but he'd failed to go so far either way.

He didn't really understand how it was ok when she was cruel to him and turned everyone against him, but wrong when he did. Was it because he "deserved it"? If it was wrong, wouldn't it be wrong regardless? Eh, maybe he was just perpetually pissed off at everything and indignant at having to go and apologize to Nico in order to get his wrist taken care of. "Hey Nico!" He called, limping into camp.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Nico hadn't really thought about the moral specifics of Ryan's isolation from his clanmates; if he did, he might feel a bit bad about how he'd stirred the pot. He didn't think about it though, so he felt no remorse for his assault on Ryan. He was kind of fearful that Sel might punish him for attacking a clanmate, but so far there'd been no sign that she cared or that Ryan had told anybody about their scuffle.

He was busily sketching one of the creatures he'd seen on the new island, a thing he'd dubbed a Goroo, when Ryan limped onto the ship. He closed his notebook and watched Ryan with narrowed eyes. He definitely hadn't inflicted that injury, so that meant Ryan had gotten into a fight with someone else. Either way, he was still the Apothecary's Apprentice, and he had to check on Ryan if Sel wasn't around.

"What happened to you?" Nico asked. The familiar weight of Trudy on his back was gone, since his pet was currently out hunting; though he was comforted by her presence usually, he felt more clear headed right now without her around.

  • [center]

Lucy might have cared about the morality of isolating Ryan, but Sel didn't. If being friendless would drive him off so she didn't have to deal with him she'd be pleased, and if he stuck around it was merely a taste of his own medicine.

Padding over with a smirk, the Captain sat down in the background, watching to see how this would go down.

  • Giving a yawn the bat eared dog sat down next to Sel, going in to try to nudge the leader. "Ay, whats going on." Dinky whispered in a soft tone before turning an ear towards the apprentices with an interested gaze.

Her gaze slid towards Dinky as he sat next to her, half smiling. "You'll see." She said, once Pyre had enough time to pop on over to Ryan's sub and post around. "It'll be interesting." She wasn't really sure if Ryan was gonna go through with it or if Nico was going to accept it and patch Ryan up, they'd just have to see.

  • Xylia didn't immediately go running up for once to Sel or Dinky Instead, she stayed much farther off in the background with her body twisting around on itself like a fancy knot. Was something about to happen? Her eyes stayed on Ryan and Nico, but more so on Nico since she didn't quite understand what was being requested and the like. It felt like for every piece of new information she got, she also gained a bit more puzzlement to add to the next pinch of knowledge.

The post was edited 1 time, last by Xylia ().

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]//wow seriously late reply

Was that... concern in Nico's voice? No, it couldn't be, this guy didn't care about Ryan and that had been made abundantly clear the moment they met and every second since. "Irrelevant." He said gruffly. Lucy had stabbed him out of the blue, but she was insisting that it hadn't been without provocation, that he'd chocked her first. He couldn't help but wonder what had changed her so much.

A crowd was beginning to form, Lucy of course, some old new guy and that kid, Xylia. Great, just great. "I'm sorry about the fight." No, no he wasn't, but he made his voice sound at least somewhat genuine. That was possibly ruined, though, when he glanced back at Lucy with a look silently asking, why am I apologizing when he started it?

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Nico felt himself get more apprehensive as more people gathered; it would've been nice to handle this privately, but obviously Ryan wanted to make it a public display. Nico let out a frustrated huff at Sel's words, not really in the mood for "interesting" but at least he felt calm enough that he wasn't about to start throwing blows around.

"Fi- What?" Nico started to relent, not caring enough about what'd happened to Ryan to push him for it when Ryan.. Apologized? That threw the tom off, and only made him more suspicious. He'd started the fight; he'd been the one to, gods, he'd tried to rip Ryan's throat out. That wasn't exactly something you just forgave for no reason.

"..." Nico bit his lip, wondering if it'd be better to just accept the apology and let everything blow over. "Why?" He asked, his tail hovering above the floor as he asked. He was almost certain someone put Ryan up to this, or maybe he was under the assumption that Nico wouldn't heal him if they both hated each other.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]No, he really didn't want this to be a big public display, but it had turned into one. Nico's obliviousness to what was happening frustrated him, and he didn't care to get into it. Finally the Apothecary Apprentice said something somewhat sensible, asking why Ryan would even apologize for something that wasn't his fault. "Because Lucy sure as hell ain't fixing this." He said, thrusting his injured wrist out, trying not to glare at Ryan.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Nico snorted at Ryan's bluntness. Of course; he had no motivation other then trying to get himself patched up. Honestly, Nico would've been happy to leave Ryan bleeding on the deck of the ship, but he couldn't do that without making himself out to be the bad guy in this situation.

"Fine, I'll fix it since you've gotten self-aware enough to see that Sel doesn't want you around." Nico hissed lowly; quietly enough that only Ryan and him, as well as any listeners with super senses, would be able to hear.

"Can someone go grab me some goldenrod, cobwebs and-" He stopped for a second as he raked his brain for what else he would need. "-Marigold and oak leaves." He finished, silently proud that he'd remembered all that.

She was hoping that Ryan had gotten the message, but she doubted he had. She nodded approvingly at the list of herbs Nico asked for. "C'mon, Xylia, let's go get it." She'd leave Dinky with them - he was an elder after all, but if they started arguing again someone was gonna have to stop them, even if it was by drawing her attention back here.

  • Xylia's head bopped back and forth constantly throughout the interaction, but her mind couldn't slow down enough to take it all in. It would abruptly stop, then take off again without giving her enough time to piece it together. Cobwebs, goldenrod, marigold, and oak leaves. She knew what two of those four herbal plants or flower things looked like, but two of them were unknown to her. "Ok." She said once her mind snapped back shortly after Sel spoke. She wanted to help Nico out, and in turn be helping Ryan out, even if Ryan wasn't really liked by anybody from what she usually witnessed.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]No, he wasn't self-aware enough to know that Lucy didn't want him around, but he didn't bother correcting Nico, instead just sat and waited for Lucy and Xylia to return, silent so as not to start anymore shit with Nico.

    //what is muse even

  • [center]

Sel quickly gathered up the requested herbs, giving some to Xylia to carry before heading back, offering them to her apprentice silently. She'd offer him no guidance unless he asked, and she didn't particularly think he would.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Sel and Xylia's help was appreciated, as well as Ryan's silence. He focused on keeping his head clear and working. Soon enough, Sel and Xylia had returned and he took the herbs when Sel offered him them.

He started by chewing the marigold, goldenrod and oak leaves into a poultice and then aimed to spread the poultice onto the wound. As a final measure, he aimed to fasten the poultice into place with the cobwebs.

"There. Come back to me in a few days and I'll check the progress. Don't take it off, and try to avoid swimming." Nico instructed curtly.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Ryan brooded while Nico took care of his injuries, silent and stormy. "Yeah, yeah, got it." He muttered, shooting Sel a glance as he prepared to leave. She gave him a look. "Thank you ever so much, Nico." He said over-dramatically, not really meaning it.
