  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Nico needed to unwind, and they were sitting on the ocean pretty much all day, so why not try fishing? He'd heard it was good, calming activity and he.. Kind of needed that.

Though due to his lack of opposable thumbs, he'd have to do it the old-fashioned way. Which was considerably less relaxing, but still fun. The male was wading through the shallow water on the second island, since this island seemed to have more fish then their normal island. He'd been out here for what felt like hours and he hadn't caught anything yet, and he was starting to get frustrated.

  • "What're you doing out in the water? Looking for shiny things?" Xylia spoke up a good few minutes before she actually got within hearing range of Nico, but his wading through the water caught her attention and drew her away from the crab expeditions she liked to do every once in a while. She halted at the edge of the ocean water in time to stop herself from sending water spraying everywhere. It wouldn't go very far anyway, but she didn't want to accidentally disturb whatever Nico was up to. Honestly, he looked like he was looking for something, which brought her to the conclusion that it must be shiny things in the water. Or maybe he was trying to catch a crab that wasn't so exposed on dry land.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 500px; text-align: justify]Nico heard the familiar voice and glanced up, just in time for a wave to wash over his flank and almost knock him off his paws. Spluttering, he dragged himself onto the beach. He didn't blame Xylia, but goodness gracious he was frustrated with this whole fishing thing; it was so difficult! He should've tried a river or stream, those would've been much easier.

"I was trying to fish, and uh, failing." Nico said as he shook out his pelt. He couldn't truly be angry when it was just Xylia around; her childish naivety and his consequential impulse to explain things to her completely nulled his tendency to overthink his emotions and actions.

  • "Ay, mate, lemme give you a tip." Dinky said padding up with a wag of his tail, he loved fish, tho he hated water. "So what I like to do is lur'em to a good spot." He said, digging into the ground a bit to find some worms to throw into the water. "Food for yer food, ya'see they'll gather in that spot to chow down and thats when ya hook'em."

Dinky moved his short body over closer towards the edge, "But ya gotta be quiet, so shh shh." He whispered before pointing a paw down at the water, "Then, look at the shadows, and reach on in." He whispered once more before dunking his head in the water and coming out with a small fish and spitting it on on the shore. "Tho cats do it differently with claws'n'stuff, but try baitin' them." Dinky said before shaking off his head, and plopping down in the sun with his now soggy large ears.

    "You try kiddo."

Sel sat down on the shore next to Xylia, tilting her head to the side as the guys worked on fishing. Hey, she approved. "There might be some fishing nets on the boat." She mused, half to herself.

  • Didn't failure ultimately lead to success eventually? She couldn't count the numbers of times she'd failed the first few times. But, she didn't know how to count, so there was that. Then Dinky's explanation left her head spinning while she tried to keep it all organized mentally step for step. Did he want Nico to try it now? She wouldn't be diving into any water for fish unless she was starving. They tasted icky, and they hurt her stomach. If she was going to go sloshing through the blue gray water, it was going to be for shiny things. "Fishing nets?" How much fish could they possibly need to require nets? Her questioning gaze flirted to Sel, but her attention continued to linger on how this fishing experience would go between Dinky and Nico.
