Greyscale soon found that walking taught him new things. He could learn things on his own, of course - but more importantly, he could run into new people. He had met Summerconstellations and Robin so far (not to mention the folks in Stormclan that greeted him), and each of them had taught him new things about the world. So for now, he'd continue walking, until he found a better option.

He knew that clans existed. The people whom he had met had told him of their clans, since he had trespassed almost every time. He wasn't sure how many clans there were in total (he had counted three so far). Little did he know, he had trespassed yet again, this time in territory known as The Rift.[fancypost=border-width:0; font-size: 8pt; text-align: center; width:400px;] ✧ —AND NEVER GO HOME / [color=#dedede]TAGS

    AND THIS IS THE HOOK
And was it really any surprise that Sao would be the one to find him? Many would think it odd that a canine who was obviously dealing with trust issues would be so keen to keep heading out to the border to intercept people, but time and time again that's where young Sao could be found, wandering the Rifts borders in solitude with watchful eyes. He just wasn't comfortable with the whole 'anyone can join' thing, not when he'd spent his life in a group that never accepted outsiders. To just open up your home to someone like that was asking for trouble, and he found himself unable to relax without constantly grooming the borders for strays.

    TAKE IT LIKE I TOOK
And this time around, like so many others, his searching had not gone to waste. As he quickly followed the scent trail he'd been following for the last several minutes, he eventually stepped out onto a path just a few feet behind the other. His second stranger that day.

    SHAKIN' LIKE I SHOOK BEFORE
"Hey!" he would bark, the word sharp and demanding attention. He didn't know who this was, but the guy had completely ignored their borders and walked in like he owned the place- and from his scent Sao could tell he definitely wasn't a Rifter. They had an odd combination of looks to them, something similar to himself and yet different all at once, almost hyena-ish. Whatever. There was no time to be distracted over looks now.

AND NEVER EVER GETTING BETTER OFF
"You got a reason for just walking over my clans border like that?" he'd ask, trying to keep his young voice even but unable to keep the edge from the words as he spoke. With swift steps he'd aim to make his way over to stand in front of the other, blocking their path from heading farther in. He didn't know who this was or why they'd come this far in without waiting for a patrol to okay them, but he wasn't letting them a step farther without some answers.

That had been the way it was, he soon realized. There was always someone there to watch if you decided to make yourself known. The demon's ears perked at the sharp cry. He was surprised, curious - not scared. Whether it was a good or a bad thing, the demon wasn't really one to be scared of...normal things. Death was probably the only natural thing he was scared of, though he wasn't sure what was really considered 'normal' in such a diverse world.

Greyscale watched the canine as he spoke, his yellow eyes scanning him up and down.
"No," came his simple and slightly delayed response. "Who...are you?"

    AND THIS IS THE HOOK
He was a little taken aback by the others response, and he blinked in surprise before his auburn eyes narrowed on them. Most people at least either admitted to being lost, or flaunted the fact that they were trespassing. None of them ever answered with a simple 'no',

    TAKE IT LIKE I TOOK
"Well," began Sao, drawing himself up so as to seem more important than he really was, "if your not here to join and you don't belong to an allying clan, you can't stay." he'd say, the words decisively spoken and his gaze unflinching as he glared back at the other.

    SHAKIN' LIKE I SHOOK BEFORE
As he was asked who he was a frown would settle on his lips, and his large rounded ears would angle backwards. Hadn't they been listening? It was unnerving the young african wolf, and this was one of those times he wished that the Rift was more like the Tribe. Had he been back home he would have been able to send this weirdo off by use of brute force, but here things were a bit different. You weren't suppose to attack or be rude to people who weren't causing a problem, and this guy -while walking the border of problematic- wasn't really doing anything to warrant a straight out attack.

AND NEVER EVER GETTING BETTER OFF
"Saosin." he would reply after a moment, the name falling from his lips almost grudgingly."I'm a warrior of the clan that calls this territory home." he added.

"And who are you?" he would ask, the words sharp and holding the same impatient demand as before. He was a little curious about the stranger, but more so then that he was eager to get them away. He didn't like unknown people hanging around, and this one didn't seem like he was all there right now.

    Greyscale looked behind him.
"Okay then," he replied, narrowing his eyes at the canine. He could be mean too, if he wanted. "Where's the border?" And, though he wasn't too fond of asking questions, "What clan is it?" When asked his name, the demon sighed. He didn't like his name, though he was the one who had created it. It was a split-second decision that stuck with him, and he couldn't think of any better - and fitting - names. "Grey...Greyscale."

OOC; I like his sort of boring/blunt personality lol. He reminds me of Craig from South Park xD And sorry about Sao, his attitude sucks right now but he will chill out soon :)

    AND THIS IS THE HOOK
As the other narrowed their gaze in return Sao felt himself tense under their watch, uncomfortable with their scrutiny even though Sao was the one who'd started it. He was a stubborn little canine though, and if anything seeing this stranger suddenly become a bit more brazen only inspired Sao to try to dominate more quickly, an instinct he'd developed as a child. Not out of ambition, but out of a neurotic need to protect himself. Dominate and crush what threatened you before it could do the same to you. That's how he'd always lived his life.

    TAKE IT LIKE I TOOK
"The clan is called The Rift, and the border is that big smelly line you crossed about five minutes back." Sao would reply, annoyed and somewhat in disbelief that this person seemingly hadn't noticed the scent markers they'd put up. "How do you not know what a border is?"

    SHAKIN' LIKE I SHOOK BEFORE
This guy, he was really weird. Sao couldn't even place what kind of read he was getting off the guy, which only upset the painted wolf farther. The stranger seemed sort of out of it, like they'd just woken up from a deep sleep or something and couldn't think straight. And they didn't seem aggressive, but they were definitely trying to challenge him with all these questions instead of just listening, which was putting Sao in an awkward position. He didn't like talking with strangers, but the Rifts law didn't allow them to attack without reason. And sadly, Sao didn't think this situation was one that Cain would warrant worthy of an attack.

AND NEVER EVER GETTING BETTER OFF
Even the way he said his name was weird, as if he was hesitating or unsure. Grey. They had one of those already, no need for a second.

    AND I CAN ONLY WATCH
"Well, Greyscale, like I said, if your not here to join you can't stay. We don't have enough supplies in the territory to support ourselves and roamers like you." he would say, the edge falling somewhat from his voice but the firmness still there. If this guy didn't plan on sticking around then he could leave now.

Greyscale's gaze remained unwavering as Saosin spoke. Then, without waiting for him to finish, he began to walk away, towards the border which he had apparently crossed before. He found the line somewhat easily, then stepped over it and turned to face the other.
"There, I'm no longer trespassing. Better?" He had used that trick before, with Summerconstellations, and it seemed to have worked out well. He just hoped that it would be fine this time, too. "I'm not planning to join, or even stay here for long at all."

    AND THIS IS THE HOOK

He didn't want it too, but the others actions did put him at ease. Their willingness to cooperate was mixed with just the right amount of stubbornness to catch the painted wolfs curiosity, and he followed him over to the border cautiously, nodding at his first set of words. "I guess. Law is law." he would reply with a small shrug, so as to appear more in control that he really was. He was honest in what he'd said, though. Grey wasn't trespassing anymore, and his willingness to comply with the paranoid young canine had made him feel a bit better.

    TAKE IT LIKE I TOOK
Better enough to slowly let his guard down. He didn't trust the hybrid in the slightest, but now that things were in their proper place the tension was starting to defuse and Sao could start to look beyond the formalities of the situation. As he made his way over to stand across from the other on his own side of the border he'd once again note the others odd appearance, and wondered what exactly he was. Sao had been born in a tribe that had kept him sheltered from a number of things including powers -none of which he currently possessed- and hybridization was one of the things he'd seldom come across during his short life.

    SHAKIN' LIKE I SHOOK BEFORE
As Grey spoke again Sao found his curiosity increasing, but he wasn't sure weather the others words were a good thing or bad thing. On one had Sao wouldn't have to deal with coming to accept another complete stranger into the clan and could avoid all the stress that came with it, but on the other he was a trained warrior, and he instinctively wanted to know why the other was here if not to join, especially since they'd seemed determined not to leave when confronted the first time.

AND NEVER EVER GETTING BETTER OFF
"Okay, fine. So your not joining. What are you doing here then? You've got to have a reason for just walking into someones territory, right?" Sao would ask, and this time there was less of an edge to his voice, much of the hostility gone even though his tone still possessed some of the demand, which Grey would come to realize was just how he spoke to people. While obviously watchful, it was also clear that Sao was more relaxed with this new arrangement, and that Grey would have a better chance of doing whatever it was he was there for.

[center][fancypost=background-color:;border:0px;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt;line-height:1.4;]xxxxxGreyscale hadn't noticed that when he sat, his front paws pressed together, and now he attempted to pry them apart. For some reason, though he didn't know what, his physical form seemed to drip, like slime. It also stuck and fused with things, resulting in some...interesting forms. He frowned, eventually prying them apart, though now his left leg was slightly larger than his right. He'd fix that later.

For now, he was here. He wasn't sure why he was here, and not in the forest as he usually was (well, he technically was in the forest, but not really). He wasn't sure why he hadn't left when he was told to, why he had decided to stay instead. Maybe it was simply because he enjoyed interacting with others, and learning the different gestures that accompanied their speech. Or maybe it was because Saosin - this specific canine - interested him. He wasn't like the others he had met in his short life. He was...was grumpy the correct word for it? He always had this demanding edge to his voice - and rather than annoy the demon, it intrigued him.

If Greyscale knew what it meant, he would have shrugged at Saosin’s question. What reasons were there to be here besides joining?
“I…don’t know,” he replied, “I was just walking and I ended up here.”

OOC; Sorry! Work got the best of me the last couple days!!

    AND THIS IS THE HOOK
As he stood there waiting for the answer to his questions he couldn't help but notice that the other wasn't exactly giving their full attentions to him, and so his gaze would follow the others down to their paws where Sao, too, noticed the dripping look. His auburn eyes got wide and he blinked in surprise, watching as Grey pulled them apart like they were a sticky mess, one warping in the process as they came out unevenly.

    TAKE IT LIKE I TOOK
His large round ears would swivel backwards as a look that bordered disgust swept across his features, but he quickly reigned it in to a mere frown. Despite having been expose to grittier things like death, murderer, and betrayal, Sao had led an extremely sheltered life when it came to other aspects, and having been born and raised in a Tribe where nobody had or really unerstood powers, one could understand how he was still weirded out by them even now.

    SHAKIN' LIKE I SHOOK BEFORE
When Grey finally replied, his words slow as always, Sao nodded his understanding before finally pulling his gaze off the others melting legs. "What kin of power is that supposed to be?" he would ask, having never heard or seen anything like it. Back in the tribe he might not have asked such a question, which would have been seen as taboo by his peers, but here in the world of the other clans there seemed to be an openness and acceptance when it came to the powers and capabilities of others, so he figured it was okay to test the waters.

Greyscale looked back down at his paws.
"I would not really call it a power," he replied with a small frown, "I am not really sure what it is, to be honest. I cannot really control it." As he spoke, he tried his best to even out his paws again, pressing them together and attempting to pry them apart as evenly as possible in hopes that he wouldn't be limping for a while. Uneven legs were annoying, he'd come to realize.

"So you just melt all the time? That sucks." Sao would note, giving the other a curious look as he watched them try to even out their legs once more, and he wondered if the other was sticky or damp to the touch. He didn't look slimy on the parts that weren't melting. He looked like he was made of flesh and fur.
