  • What was Cass thinking? She'd never climbed this high before. Although, that was the least of her concerns. What was at the top of these stairs? What would it lead to? Hopefully it wouldn't be anything dangerous. She wasn't really sure how she'd be able to handle it, if things would get bad. Although, it wasn't like Cass was guaranteeing her safety by walking up a staircase that lead to a mysterious set of floating islands. Perhaps she shouldn't question anything at this point, after all, she could be considered about as odd as those islands to some. She wasn't aware of the creatures that lived up there. Sure, she's heard talk from time to time during her travels, though she never caught any names. Cass just assumed they were rumors.

Her pure white eyes stared up to the end. She was almost there. Deciding to rush forward, Cass' paws pounded against the stone steps. Maybe she was running straight into her doom. She didn't quite know. Her long tail trailed behind her as she ran. It didn't take long before she eventually reached the end of the stairs. Despite the distance she ran, she didn't seem to be out of breath. It barely even seemed like she was breathing in the first place.

So, this was it. This is where the stairs lead to. Interesting. For now, she just sat there, still. Her blank eyes stared out in the distance. For a moment she just sat there, almost as if she were thinking about something.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Kenji had to admit, the stairs leading up to BlizzardClan's territory could be pretty intimidating. Hell, he had been been so nervous, he hadn't even attempted to climb them on the day he joined. So when Kenji saw the black she-cat sitting at the top, he was a bit surprised. Then again, not everyone was as big of a coward as he. Maybe this happened often?

The wolfdog hesitated for a few moments, unsure if he had the authority to greet a joiner. When nobody else showed up, he would clear his throat, preparing to speak. "U-Um... hi... c... can I have your name and business... please?" Kenji asked the stranger, nervously tugging at the yellow tie around his neck.

Jerseyboy also had his own opinion on the staircase, and frankly, he'd prefer to never climb it again. He'd be fine up here; he had his hut, food, water, and everything he needed. Why would he need to leave again? He'd just have to make his way down and up those damned stairs again, which was tiring as it was.

He was a bit thrown off when he saw a strange she-cat sitting at the top of the stairs. Removing the lit cigarette from his maw, he would grunt, "You coulda' waited at the bottom, y'know." He popped it back in his mouth, took a drag, and took it back out, exhaling a plume of smoke through both his mouth and his nostrils. "But yeah, what he said." Jerseyboy added, referring to Kenji's questions.

    [align=justify][center]text. "speech." thought.
He had been circling the skies for just this reason, newcomers. However this time he did not attempt to apprehend the interesting female ascending the staircase. Honestly it was sort of surreal to watch form a distance, but as he spiraled downwards to hear what was being said now he nodded to himself at Kenji's words, it was better to wait at the bottom... JW wasn't too forgiving of trespassers, especially with his son hanging around and not being safe in a bubblewrap ball. Julian had personally never seen one, but he was quite sure that it would keep Witchkit safe, and that was his number one priority, the second of course was keeping his squadron safe, well clan now... he didn't want to let them down, they'd been so good to him. The brown and white bird alighted on the ground and flipped his wings on his back gracefully.

He looked from Jerssyboy to Kenji, to Cass the newcomer and waited patiently for a response from her, he wasn't going to interrupt a train of thought, he knew how annoying that could be, but he was curious to know why she was here, did she need to be asked three times though? Certainly not, twice was excessive, thrice would be much too much, in the eagles eyes at least. He opened and closed his beak stretching out his jaw because his mouth had been closed for quite some time as he had circled in the air, doing figure eights, letting the air carry him, not flapping his wings, just gliding around. Ah he loved air currents, and also loved being a raptor.

He was much more graceful than those stupid buzzards, or even those self-righteous hawks, no Jules was not a bird snob, alright perhaps just a bit, but it was only because eagles were obviously the best. Not just because of their precision and grace, not because of their symbolic representation of freedom and America... but because they just were. There wasn't a definitive reason, but JW just knew that eagles were the most amazing bird around. Though he had to admit, humming birds were not to be messed with, those little shits were fast. And nothing more than a tiny snack.

  • So, there actually were others that lived up here. Interesting. Cass glanced over at Kenji when he spoke up. She was silent for the moment, almost analyzing the wolfdog. Her face held nothing more than an expression of curiosity. Her eyes went over to Jerseyboy when he spoke up. At this point, she knew she might as well introduce herself. If they would be unfriendly or threatening to her, she could easily turn back and move on.

"My name is Cass..." she started off, just introducing herself. "I'm just... exploring," she added. She doubted she was the first to run up this staircase, for the sake of exploration and curiosity. "Didn't really realize anybody lived up here..." she mumbled, mostly to herself. She hoped they wouldn't press her for more questions - she wasn't exactly overwhelmed with the amount of people that were around her, though she just didn't quite feel like having a conversation. They were a bunch of strangers. They could be dangerous. Hopefully, they were just friendly.

Fadingmoon meandered over toward the others, eyeing the newcomer. Exploring? Well, that made sense. It wasn't every day that you stumbled upon a staircase in the middle of the territory. Though the claim that they did not know there were creatures living up here seemed a bit...far fetched to the female. Did Cass not realize the scents enshrouding the area? It wasn't as if they didn't mark the borders. It wasn't as if they didn't rub their scent all over the area by just existing. How can one scent all that and not think somebody, a large group of somebody's, lived there? Regardless, she wasn't going to just allow Cass to wander through camp with no apparent goal in mind. "Well I'm afraid we don't just let people explore our territory for the hell of it," the hybrid stated politely. "Are you looking for a home? Somewhere to stay?"

  • Great. Someone else just decided to butt into the conversation. Well, it wasn't like Cass could complain. She was technically invading their territory in a way. She listened as Fadingmoon spoke, glancing at her as she did so. Was she looking for a home? What an odd question. Cass had to wonder why she'd even ask something.

Then again, she wasn't completely off. A home wasn't something Cass came here for. It was only something at the back of her mind. Most of the time, the female spent her time travelling around and exploring. There'd be those few people and few occasions where she'd settle down for a bit and just enjoy life. Although, the longest that'd ever lasted for her was a couple months. Truthfully, a home sounded nice. Although, she wasn't quite sure if she could really trust these strangers or not.

"Haven't given it much thought, if I'm being honest," she replied to the stranger. "But, not gonna lie - I have no place to be," she added. Even if she didn't trust these strangers at the moment, she wasn't setting anything in stone with what she was saying. Still, she had the option to bolt down those stairs at any moment she wanted. Sticking around wouldn't be too bad for her, hopefully.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Not knowing what to say, Kenji would stay silent until Cass answered Fadingmoon, somehow managing to speak up once more. "So... does that mean you're joining? Or...?" The wolf dog asked with a tip of his head. He assumed, since she said she had nowhere to be, but maybe she was still thinking it over?

  • Well, Cass did have to think about it. She wasn't the type to make split-second decisions. Especially if this would be changing how she lived her life. When she heard Kenji speak up, she still continued to think for a moment. Joining? Sure, the idea sounded nice. She wouldn't have to worry about hopping around from place to place, or constantly travelling day after day. She enjoyed her adventures, though she never quite just got to sit down and enjoy a regular life.

"Well, I guess I will be. Yes I'd like to join,"she finally replied. Cass couldn't believe she was really doing this. She barely knew any of them, so she wasn't really sure if they had any bad intentions. So far, they seemed perfectly fine; none of them seemed to be aggressive towards her so far. Perhaps she actually needed a place to call home.

"Excellent! Welcome then, is there anything I can perhaps get for you? Something to eat or drink? Otherwise, I can take you straight back to the huts and you can pick one out to live in!" the female said happily. Fading was glad this person was joining. She'd have felt bad if she'd have to turn this person aside just because all Cass wanted to do was explore. But a territory was a territory and people had to respect boundaries. Although, she didn't have to worry about that considering that Cass had joined.

  • Come to think of it, Cass actually was hungry. Then again, she was always hungry. Although, she figured that now she was already staying with these guys, she shouldn't ask too much of them. They seemed friendly. She just didn't want to push any limits on what she'd ask for now.

"Could you just take me back to the huts?" she asked. For now, she just decided that going back and finding where she'd be staying would be the best option. Besides, she had no idea where anything was located, so she figured it'd be best to figure out now.

LIVING THE DREAM, YOURS AND MINE — mack xerxes — blizzardclan — male

The glowing she-cat was certainly very interested to observe, but Mack wasn't going to stare. He was very polite, after all. With a smile upon his lips the deputy approached with a slow roll of his shoulders, legs creaking as he had been napping not too long ago. "Welcome to the clan, Cass!" He said, "I'm Mack, one of the deputies here."

Fadingmoon nodded at the request to take Cass back to the huts. There were plenty of abandoned ones waiting to be claimed by anybody - the hybrid was certain Cass would find something suitable. Turning, she began to pad toward the camp. They didn't take long to reach the huts. The canine smiled and tilted her head slightly, using a paw to gesture toward some of the huts that were clearly abandoned. "Pick whichever one strikes your fancy."

  • [center][fancypost= width: 450px; text-align: justify;][size=11][font=timesnewroman]Sweetophelia was already in the camp when the others returned, this time with a new BlizzardClanner in tow. Her pale lilac eyes brightening in curiosity as she saw Cass, the BlizzardClan leader approached, her dark ears flicking. "Ah, hey there," she greeted the group, her eyes shifting over their faces before falling on Cass. "New member?" she guessed.
