    I'M YOUR LIONHEART — alice — windclan — she/her — tags

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Life was taking a turn for the better for Alice. After making the conscious effort to think and act positively, it had really affected her positively too. She didn't feel so depressed or distressed anymore; sure she still had moments of anxiety, particularly with strangers, but they were becoming less and less. Her smiles were more genuine; there was a joyful bounce in her step. She liked greeting her friends and keeping busy around the clan - one of the more major changes. If anything, life was brilliant. And now that she could handle her own problems, the lioness began noticing everyone else's.

That particular day she had been venturing down the mountain. No goal in mind, simply wandering the forest, listening to the sweet sounds of wind chimes and birdsong. Alice hadn't intended on intruding on another's peace, yet couldn't help but approach when her rounded ears picked up the sniffles and whimpers. Concerned for her clanmate, the lioness crept towards the source of the sobbing. It was an npc - she had crawled down into the tangled roots of an old oak to curl up, crying. Alice immediately felt pity for the young domestic, and padded forward to comfort her. "What's wrong?" the advisor asked softly; and for a split second, hazel eyes met soft blue ones, and Alice found herself thrown into the girl's memories as if she were part of them herself.

The lioness could do nothing but stare; she stood in a completely different area. The undergrowth around her paws had vanished, replaced by long heathers and grasses. The dense, sunlit canopy overhead was also gone; in its place, thick, thunderous clouds were swirling in the sky. The world was dark; though Alice's senses were limited in this strange land, she still felt the stinging cold and heard the wind howl. Surprisingly, she had no difficult keeping her balance against the gales; in fact, the icy rain fell right through her, as if she were a ghost - not truly present at all.

The same domestic was crouched a few feet away, low to the ground - her fragile striped body being tossed across the moor like a ragdoll. A bolt of lightning webbed across the sky, and the clouds pushed against gravity, forming a swirling vortex that immediately began ripping up trees and wooden buildings. Alice realised where she was, all of a sudden - Windclan's former territory, in the midst of a storm that had already occurred. The tornado was ripping up everything in its path; which, with a sudden change of wind, was headed their way.

"Hey!" Alice called to the terrified girl, worry and doubt entering her own mind. "We've got to move out of the way!" Yet the feline showed no signs of following her instructions - she completely ignored her with a cry of her own. "Mama! Help!"

Only moments later a large version of the npc appeared; the grey stripes were almost identical and its clear from the distress in her expression that the girl's mother is on the scene. "Go! Get out of here!" The kit stared at her mother for a moment, horror and protest obvious in her expression. "But Ma-" "I said go!" Alice watched the exchange, a sickening feeling entering her stomach. As soon as the kitten made haste to run off, the mother turned tail, heading back for camp. A force pulled Alice after the child; her vision was blurring and senses dulling; the end of the memory was drawing near.

The lioness halted suddenly as she discovered the frightened npc once more - who had stopped, facing the tornado. Her eyes were welling up; her cheeks soaked with tears. The heartbreak in her expression caused Alice's own features to turn sour; her own heart to shatter. As she too faced the ruthless vortex, she was convinced she spotted a flash of tabby fur being flung away with the rest of the debris. Such a young girl... younger than herself, barely a month old at most - having seen such horror. Unnecessary; heartbreaking. If Alice thought Padmè's leaving was upsetting, she could hardly imagine losing a parent. This npc did not deserve this.

The world immediately froze and blanked out around Alice; with a startled blink she was brought back to the present. A familiar face stared at her; the horror present once again. Yet there was an uncertainty in her blue eyes - as if she was puzzled. "Get out of my head," the child demanded; her voice was broken and hoarse, but stern and sharp. The little tabby backed up, her fur raised and claws unsheathed. She was terrified, and horribly confused. Alice felt miserable, and guilty. She too was baffled as to what she had just seen, and why. "Get away from me!" The npc darted for the exit, but Alice outstretched a paw, desperate for a chance to apologise. "Don't go!" The domestic froze on the spot, paralysed. "Stop! Please, let me go!" The terror in her voice caused Alice to drop her paw in shock. The younger kitten turned to face her and she was downright petrified, trembling in fear - of Alice. "Who do you think you are?!" the tabby cried out, young voice cracking - and she sprinted into the forest, out of sight.

Alice was shaking herself. What had she done? That wasn't telekinesis. Oh hell, this was way more troublesome than that. She had just - invaded someone's privacy - if that wasn't bad enough, she had proceeded to erase an important memory, however heartbreaking, and then take hold of her mind - force her to wait, simply because she had wanted to apologise for the trouble. Naturally, she had only caused more. The little lioness felt weak, and sat down promptly, completely shocked. What have I done?

//to summarise: alice found an npc crying, she tried to comfort her but instead entered her memories. she accidentally erased the memory of said npc's mother's death which was the cause of her crying. the npc tried to run away but alice wanted to apologise, again accidentally entering her mind unconsciously and forcing her to stop running. she let the npc go, shocked at herself, and is now sitting in the forest, quite distressed.
    essentially she discovered that she has mind control powers c;

YOU HAD A VISION THEY COULDN'T SEE, SO THEY PUT YOU DOWN...

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%][color=beige]Crying was not a good thing to hear. Especially with everything that's been going on in Windclan lately. So when the serval picked up the faint sound, she scrambled in the direction she heard it from, fear pitting in her stomach. She came to a skidding halt when she found Alice, her concern only growing in the discovery of it being here that was upset. "Alice?... Alice, what's wrong? What happened? Are you alright?" she asks anxiously as she takes to her side.

Henry had been wandering about camp. He was trying to get used to his old body again. He'd only been in an able body for a few days but it seemed odd to now return to his limp. Part of him felt more comfortable but part of him hated the inconvenience. Not only that, but with his recent injuries, he seemed to move slower than ever. It was apparent just by looking at him that he was still in a significant amount of pain. Still, he was making his way around camp. Perhaps if he showed himself often enough, he would begin to feel comfortable among it's inhabitants again. However, it was then that he'd hear crying and that he'd noticed Kate running off. He'd try to follow to the best of his ability, pain searing through him with each forced step. By the time he arrived at the scene, he was trying to gulp in air to catch his breath. When he realized who was crying though, he'd start to move forward before stopping. Would Alice want someone like him to try to comfort her when she certainly knew by now what he'd try to do to himself? Did anyone even want him around? Perhaps it was a selfish thought given the circumstances but there was a part of him that couldn't shake the feeling that he simply wasn't wanted or needed here. In fact, he was afraid he'd just make it worse.

"Sweetheart?" Woah. Woah. Woah- he just said that out loud. That was bad- UnSithlike, even. Vader brushed it off as nothing, hiding that away for later, and approached his child, moving down to his stomach to be level with her. His cape drapes over her back end, and his arm moves to rest on her opposite side. He cautiously nudges her with his "nose", careful not to prod her with the tusks on the end of his mask. [b]"Alice? Did someone hurt you?"

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]As Kate approached, the child sat up and took a deep breath, desperate to calm herself. It was clear she was in shock more than anything; at what she was capable of, what she had done. But she tried to hide her distress as much as possible; she was done being the one who needed saving, who needed comfort. Alice couldn't quite bring herself to smile at Kate, but acknowledged her mentor with a nod. "I'm fine," she assured her, quickly clearing her throat to rid of the panic in her tone. It was the npc they should have been worrying about; not her. She didn't have time to explain before more people showed up - not that she minded, but the small crowd made her anxious. "It wasn't me crying," she insisted, wary of Henry and Vader also on the scene. The lioness noted that Henry wasn't exactly looking in great form either, but she couldn't blame him; having to demote his husband and then let him disappear? Nevermind the physical wounds their leader had inflicted upon himself; if anything, she should have been the one comforting him. "I'm not hurt," the advisor assured her father, and took another breath. Calm... then she could explain herself. "There was someone else here, crying," she began, wondering if the adults would believe her story. "I tried to comfort her, but I-I... I don't know what happened, but I saw - her memories, like I was... in her head." She sounded crazy; they would never believe her. "I swear, it's true! Then I - I think I made the memory blank, like I... erased it. She got really scared-" Of me, the lioness thought bitterly, "and tried to run away, but I - somehow - made her stop, because I wanted to apologise..." Alice paused, growing visibly more and more upset. Not enough to shed her own tears, but enough to get all flustered. "She's gone now. But I think... I hurt her. It was an accident, I couldn't stop it..." she trailed off miserably, glancing back to where the npc had disappeared. She didn't want to cause a scene - she just wanted to know what she had done and why it had happened.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%][color=beige]This did not sound too odd to Kate, mostly because powers were fairly common inside the clans, and power malfunctions happened all the time. Especially when someone is just learning about them. Which is exactly what happened here to Alice. "It sounds like you have powers over memory manipulation. Or something of the like." The serval commented, shifting her paws slightly as she spoke. "You just discovered them. It's completely understandable why you would have no control over them yet. Don't beat yourself up over it." Though she wasn't sure practicing these powers was a good idea either. Using them again could potentially be dangerous. To both Alice and those around her.

  • i think there's a fault in my code

Henry would listen to Alice quietly as she spoke and then to Kate. Memory manipulation. A frightening concept, considering the instability of his own memory due to Hyde's nightly escapades. He considered just slipping away. He was just a broken man, what advice could he possibly offer. Still, he felt the need to say something. He knew very well what he would think if he'd just admitted something like that and anyone just turned and left. He didn't want Alice to believe he feared her. She didn't deserve that sort of feeling at all. "I agree with Kate. I'm sure with a bit more practice, you'd be able to get it under control," He'd advise gently.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Memory manipulation definitely sounded plausible; as the two seemed relatively calm about the concept, it didn't take more than another few deep breaths to collect herself. Alice nodded once in understanding - but what did memory manipulation have to do with controlling people's minds? She had made that npc stop moving completely - simply because she didn't want her to run off just yet. The npc hadn't stopped of her own accord - the movement - or lack of it - was far too unnatural. Mind control wasn't a power she saw in most people - or people at all. The girl recalled the book she'd been reading on the Jedi - it had mentioned use of the Force for manipulation. She hadn't thought it meant mind manipulation, but what other explanation was there? That it's all just a power, and you're being dramatic. Alice sighed softly; she had not intended on wasting their time. This wasn't a power she particularly wanted to have, either. It seemed dangerous and unstable - perhaps practice was now necessary, as Henry had advised. "Okay," she mumbled eventually, and then raised her head. No moping. "I think I get it now - I was just confused..." She should probably seek out the npc and apologise later - genuinely. No powers. "Sorry. I'll try and keep it under control." Along with her emotions - they made a mess out of her.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%][color=beige]"There's no need to apologize, Alice. You didn't mean to do it. We understand." Kate quickly reassured, unaware of the internal panic and struggle her apprentice was truly going through right now. "I'm sure there's others in the clan with this powers. Perhaps you could ask them how to learn to control them properly?" Because while it was a dangerous power to toy with, if done correctly it could be fairly useful in battle.
