  • "I don't think we have any other option unfortunately. We'll just have to be careful and sneak out. Don't worry, I'll get us out of here ok?" Samuel replied, looking back at Charlotte reassuringly. He knew she was worried but they had to get out of there. Luckily they had the advantage of surprise, no one knew Samuel was free yet. "There's no time for us to linger too long. If we're going then we need to leave now, before anyone notices I'm free." He gently pulled her along with him, eager to get out of this place. He wasn't going to leave without Charlie by his side that was sure.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Letting herself get dragged along, Charlotte glanced around nervously, her grip around her keys tightening. "Let's just hope no one appears," She mumbled, frowning. If someone found them trying to escape, she didn't know what she'd do. She didn't know what Samuel would do. Personally, Charlie didn't want history to repeat itself: she didn't want Samuel getting injured or killing anyone. Dealing with the original incident seemed hard enough for him. Her grip on his hand tightened, and she quickened her pace just a bit. The woman in the security footage had a pistol on her, so she guessed everyone in this facility did. Charlotte wasn't as strong or as resilient as Samuel, so any injury to her person would be devastating. Frowning subtly, she stared ahead of her.

  • "Yeah, I'd prefer a clean getaway without having to run into any scientists. I don't need a repeat of last time. Especially not when you could be in harms way too Charlotte." Samuel nodded, glancing back at Charlie once before turning his attention ahead of them. He couldn't see anyone near them, making him smirk a bit. "Hey you two! Stop right there!" Someone yelled from behind the pair, causing Samuel to run faster. He didn't know for sure if any other scientists kept weapons but he didn't want to take such a chance with Charlotte next to him. The last thing he needed was another death on his hands and her possible injured in the crossfire of by another scientist. He wasn't going to let that happen again though, he'd promised himself that much.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Charlotte didn't bother glancing behind her when she heard a shout, and suppressing a yelp, she quickened her pace as well when Samuel started running. Thank God she wore flats today, if she wore heels things would be much different. "That probably attracted attention," her expression turned nervous as she glanced behind her, looking for anyone chasing them. A frown was upon her lips, and pushing her glasses up so they wouldn't fall she turned back to face forward, trying to keep up. She was actually pretty quick.

  • "All the more reason to get out of this place. I think we're almost to the main exit. It seems to be getting a lot more legal and less secretive." Samuel said as he pushed open two doors ahead to see an empty hospital like waiting room. "Do you have a car or do you know how to hot wire one? We need to leave as quickly as we can once we get out of the building." He asked, glancing back at Charlotte. He was glad she wasn't hurt yet, although he hoped if they did have to get injured he would be the one hurt.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Shaking her car keys, Charlotte smiled subtly. "I have a car," she replied, then sighed quietly. "Thank God my parents convinced me to get an off-road one: it was expensive, but I guess it's worth it now," chuckling softly, she glanced around the room. "Do you think the exits are blocked?" she asked, frowning.

  • "Alistair gave you the key right? He's a smart man, if he's on our side he should've taken care of that. No one has really followed us yet either, he must be distracting most of the scientists for us to escape." Samuel replied with a small shrug. He felt a small gratitude to the old man but it didn't change his opinion of him too much. Too many years of hatred had seen to that.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Charlotte nodded in reply, and tightening her grip around her keys, she looked around again. "We should get going..." she whispered, suppressing a tremble. Was she a delinquent now? Probably. Now that she thought about it, she'd probably become one of those most wanted criminals. She couldn't suppress the tremble caused by these thoughts. Police would be after her, since they were looking for him. "I won't be able to go to my house, but my friend is out of town...well country for a few months and said I can stay at his place until he gets back," she explained, her grip on his hand tightening.

  • "We're staying together after we leave? I...You can't be in danger because of me Charlie. You're in enough danger with me already." Samuel said, noticing how nervous Charlotte looked. The reality of the situation must be setting in, atleast if he left she'd have plausible deniability. Although he didn't want to leave her, it felt like betrayal to her for all she'd done for him. "We can discuss it once we're safe." He added, a small sigh escaping him. They passed a window, the parking lot of the building was in clear view and it was close.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]"Of course!" she quickly replied, addressing his comment about staying together. "I am not letting them take you back," frowning, she knit her eyebrows together. "Ever," she added just for good measure. "I don't care if I'm in danger: my main priority is getting you to safety, and far away from this place," snorting softly, she noticed the parking lot. "We're almost there..."

  • Samuel felt a warm feeling spread through him at Charlotte's words. He could only nod in reply as the pair went through another set of doors. More and more windows appeared and he couldn't help but stare at them as he ran. The green grass and trees outside almost seemed too good to be real. He was determined to feel them for himself.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Charlotte's hopes were slowly starting to rise as they neared the exit: they were actually going to escape! "Try not to get a heatstroke, please," she chuckled softly, "I'm too weak to carry you," a small snicker escaped her lips at the thought: she was defiantly one of the weakest people in her school. One time her locker got jammed, and her friend pulled it open with ease. They made fun of her for awhile after that. "Don't stop, either: we can pause to check everything out after we're safe, okay?" looking up at him, she offered Sam a small smile. She wanted to allow him to explore the outside world, but they were currently escaping.

  • "Right, thanks for that. I was getting too distracted, there'll be time for that later." Samuel nodded, turning his attention back to escaping. He did let out a chuckle at the thought of Charlotte carrying him, though he did admit to himself he wouldn't mind carrying her instead. He flushed slightly at the thought but quickly shook his head to clear it. Escape had to be the very top priority right now. He pushed through another set of doors and saw the exit across the hall. He smiled but it quickly faded as he heard running from behind them. A group of people was coming for them, and fast too.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]"They must've gotten by Alistair," Charlotte whispered urgently, staring at the group. Her eyes searched their forms for any sigh of weaponry: she didn't want either of them getting injured. "We'll need to slow them down..." she whispered, and frowning, she furrowed her brows. They were going to run by a rack of shelves, but before they did, she reached out and knocked it over. It laid diagonal across the hallway, forming a small barrier between them and the group.

  • "Nice thinking Charlie." Samuel said, giving her a nod and smile. The group didn't seem to have any weapons although one did have a taser. He didn't care much at the thought of Alistair being caught. He knew he should but he just couldn't bring himself to forgive the man yet. He reached up and tore his mask off, flinging it behind him as they ran. He wouldn't need it anymore. One of the scientists fell to the ground as the mask hit him square in the eye. Samuel chuckled as he glanced back at the group.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]"Ouch..." Charlie whispered, closing her own eye and wincing. Then, flushing due to his praise, she started to stammer. "N-No problem," she uttered, offering him a small smile. Then, staring at the exit, her heartbeat started to quicken. "Oh geez..." she whispered, her grip tightening again. "What are my parents going to think? Their child is a delinquent, now... a wanted one at that."

  • "I'm afraid I don't know, I'm sorry I put you in this position. I promise I'll make this all up to you somehow Charlotte. Some way I'll pay you back for everything you've done for me." Samuel said, giving Charlie's hand a reassuring squeeze. He felt many emotions although the prominent one was fear and excitement about escaping. He pushed through the final doors, breathing in fresh air and feeling the warm sun for the first time. It felt amazing. He heard the group shouting behind them and grew anxious again.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Charlie clicked the unlock button on her car, causing the vehicle to beep and flash its lights, telling her its location. "There," she hummed, pulling him in its direction. Now it was her turn to lead him on. Well, she wasn't exactly leading him: if she tried to pull him along she'd fail. Her car was much taller than she was, so she had to jump just a bit in order to get onto, and into, it. Settling down in the drivers seat, Charlie put the keys in the ignition and started up the vehicle, which roared to life. Her heart was thumping so hard she swore he could hear it.

  • Samuel quickly slipped into the passenger seat next to Charlotte, glaring at the group of scientists as they burst out of the building. They just didn't like giving up did they? He glanced at Charlie, smiling and nodding. "Let's get out of here, I already over stayed my welcome here." He said, rolling shoulders as he glanced at the road. No cars at all. Good, they could escape faster then. He hoped the group of scientists had forgotten their keys.

  • [center][fancypost=backgground-color: none; border: none; width: 425px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial; font-size: 9pt]Charlotte didn't dawdle any further: in a matter of seconds they were on the road and speeding away from that god-forsaken lab. Upon closer inspection one would notice her death grip on the steering wheel. After a few moments, she burst out laughing. "How did we pull that off!" she giggled, wiping a tear from her eye. She'd glance at the road behind them every few moments.
