    CAUGHT IN A DAYDREAM — alice — windclan — she/her — tags

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]A book had informed the girl that it was Easter that Sunday - a Christian festival with a more modern and fun way of celebration. Alice was pretty sure not many of her clanmates would be interested in attending a mass that morning, but there was one activity in particular that caught her eye. An egg hunt - the idea went off on a tangent from the original religious beliefs. Intended for young children, the story referred to a bunny figure that hid colourful eggs around their homes. The eggs were filled with chocolates and sweets for the kids to enjoy; Alice had thought the idea was a cute one. With nothing else to do, why not prepare a mini hunt of sorts for her own clanmates? And so the lioness had spent the night before gathering up some plastic eggshells from who knows where and depositing a small chocolate into each one. Vader wouldn't approve, but who said she had to have any? Well - she would anyway - but she would cross that bridge when she got there.

Alice had made sure to wake early the next morning, basket of eggs in hand. She set out on her quest at dawn, scattering the bright eggs all around camp; in flowerpots, beneath bushes, on people's doorsteps and windowsills. There were about fifty to be found, which the young femme thought was an impressive number. Then came the most difficult part - announcing the game she'd spent so much time on. She felt a bit foolish, standing in the middle of camp, but she wouldn't let her work go to waste. "Hey, there's eggs hidden all over camp!" the girl called out half-heartedly, a giddy smile on her face. "Find as many as you can!" Alice set out a few baskets, ready to be grabbed and used.

Henry remembered this. A tradition that seemed to have lasted from his own time. He'd nearly forgotten it was Easter. He'd never been a particularly religious man, despite technically being Catholic but, to be fair, nearly everyone was Catholic in his own time. If someone's religion was unknown, it was simply assumed they were Catholic. Whatever the case, it almost felt wrong to be celebrating such an important religious holiday without Evelyn here. He'd feel his stomach twist at the thought of her being held somewhere. He knew that everyone that had gathered for the search for her were doing all they could but he couldn't help but feel as though he should do more than he was. Whatever the case, he knew it was best not to linger on such troubling thoughts and decided to approach Alice with a light smile. "This is lovely, Alice. How long did it take you to hide them about all over?"

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Alice nodded in response to Fiver. This was her first Easter - even if she wasn't Christian, she had thought it would be fun. It was interesting to have a reason for events, too. That morning she had played the role of the Easter lion, so Fiver had nothing to worry about being referred to as the Easter bunny - at least not from her. "It did," she answered with a friendly smile. "You can call me Alice though, really." She wasn't used to being referred to as ma'am; and she was half his age - even if she acted much older. As Henry arrived, she redirected her gaze to the little cervid. "Thanks," she murmured first, glad some people appreciated her work. "All morning - it was fun, though." A pause - she was considering. With a slightly more mischievous tone, the lioness spoke up again. "Would you - ehm - like to take part?" There were plenty of eggs to be found.

--Being only two months old, Jules had never heard the term "Easter" before, so when he heard Alice announce the egg hunt, he wasn't aware that it was connected to any holiday; he assumed it was an activity she'd randomly put together for her clanmates' amusment, and he thought this was very kind of her. Scampering up on his cream-dipped, over-sized puppy paws, Jules let out a yip of, "Wow! Sounds fun. Thanks for putting this together." Craning his neck back to gaze up at the lioness, he allowed a cheerful grin to tip his lips upwards and bring light to his storm-cloud-colored eyes. After doing this, he leaned forward and carefully took one of the easter baskets in his jaws. Then he sat back on his haunches and waited for one of his siblings to come-- they'd been around a lot, and it was likely that they'd appear soon; he was sure that the activity would be much more fun if he had others to do it with.

She was even more thrilled that Alice was the one to make sure it happened. There was nothing but gratitude in her silver gaze as she looked to the lioness. She had her own basket already, decorated with cute bunny and chick designs. "I have to warn you guys, I am a master at Easter egg hunts!" the servals says as she sets out, hunting down the colorful objects.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]"No problem, Jules," Alice responded to the Hacksaw child with a grin. She was a little confused as the pup proceeded to take a basket and sit - but maybe he was the type that observed first. Either that, or he was waiting for someone; your chances of finding eggs increased with a team. Maybe assigning teams would have been a good idea - but it was too late for that now, and a lot of people were enthusiastic about going solo. Take Kate for example, who seemed delighted with her setup. That alone delighted Alice. The lioness grinned at the winged canine. "Leave some for everybody else," she advised, though her tone was playful.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 400px; padding-right: 27px; text-align: justify; font-family: arial;][i]as kate approached, the rabbit's nose quivered at her words. he turned to face her, eyes narrowed playfully. there was only room for one master in this clan. and that was going to be him. ` oh yeah? ` he teased, plucking another easter egg from a windowsill. ` it's on! `
