  • Blair knelt in complete shock, not exactly processing what just happened. All they wanted to do was give the girl a hug - and they weren't even going to do that! Blair was covered in zombie blood! They stood slowly, trying to figure out what to do next. Should they just drop everything and run after the girl? or should they tell Athena and then go after her? They thought that the second option would be best.

Blair ran to the bedroom once again and burst open the door, "Athena! Hayla just ran off!" they threw the bag to the ground and went to the woman, "She gave me a bag of clothes and I told her thank you and that I was going to give her a hug, and she just ran away!"

Jace was in the middle of sharpening a hunting knife of his at the camp fire when he heard commotion at the edge of the camp. Then he heard Carter's voice, and a little girl's whom he didn't recognize. He turned and looked to see Carter talking to an emotionally distraught little girl. Curious, he stood and started walking over, "Is . . . something wrong?"

  • athena jolted at the sudden noise and rush of words, giving off a steam of tasteful words in her mother tongue, making the sign across evil from natural habit. Heaving herself upward she stumbled and balanced by holding their shoulders, hayla didn't have that warm of an experience with her old group. she doesn't talk to me, mainly the other kids, if that. if she ran off, she has her weapons. the kids aren't fully trained but she might be able to hold off at least one zombie. she would have headed for the road, the kids always do, away from the city of sins. the closest thing is the group, and i've taken them there to become acquainted a few times. if something happens to me they know to go there. chances are she'll run into a patrol from the group.

but there's a chance of a horde, like you said earlier. you noticed a horde was coming through, go, go quickly blair. she's young and smart but do not touch her, touch is incentive to panic unlike with arnold. be calm and don't give off anger just express your worry to her. i can't go with you, i would only make it more dangerous for you too. once you reach the camp send out a broadcast. I've got the radio here working, in case of other survivors. My home is a safe place until they can travel on. I will hear you. It won't be safe to return until after the horde. Until than you need to be safe and trust me and the kids to be safe here. I've lived on my own, killed my old group, and saved a kid before. I've saved these children before blair, and you've saved me. It's your turn to save yourself and hayla. she rasped before pushing back all cautionary thoughts and moved her hands to gently cup their head, palms behind their jaws as her thumb brushed their cheek before her lips crashed against theirs with passion and promises. Her voice was hoarse and rough as she pulled back just enough to say, return to me safely, damn you, or ill come kick your ass in the after life. she growled against their mouth before taking one last kiss, putting into all she could, wanting to give blair her strength to make it through.

  • Blair listened carefully to Athena, hanging onto every word even as their mind crashed with worry. If Blair had known that even mentioning a hug would set the girl into a worried frenzy they would have kept their mouth shut. Now, Hayla's life was in danger and it was their fault. Even worse was that there were warning signs of zombie hordes everywhere and it would be even more dangerous to find her now than ever.

Their mind was in a complete frenzy, but when Athena kissed them, everything went blank. Blair cupped their hands around her waist and pulled their bodies together and kissed her with everything they had. They could feel the worry slipping away and their strength returning. When they pulled away Blair whispered with a breathy voice, "I'll make it back safely, I promise." After one finaly kiss, Blair begrudgingly pulled back and turned to run after the girl, leaving out the back and heading to the camp

  • athena stopped herself from following blair, heart leaping in her chest as she felt weak, tears long forbidden welling in her eyes and falling down her flushed face. The way she'd been held tight and close in that quick moment more than made up for the nervousness that consumed her so fully when she had thought of kissing them and still did even after that kiss. She knew she was supposed to be worried, she was deep down and on the outside but that kiss had grounded her.

She could say one thing about the kiss, even though she had made it happen, blair was an extraordinary kisser, and that left her craving more even if there wasn't room for romance in a zombie apocalypse. Breath coming fast she raised fingers to her lips and tried to call back all of her common sense to her rather empty mind. Right. The horde would pass soon and she still smelt like blood. She felt sick to her stomach suddenly, blair still wore the blood stained shirt, and it was her blood not theirs that the zombies would smell. Her heart couldn't decide who was in the most danger, blair or herself and the remaining kids. She knew what to do when the hordes came through but her close call didn't make her feel any better about it. It was time to move operations above ground and to the roof, where she could snipe any zombies if they decided that the big building's roof was a great place to hang out.

  • Wake Up

STAY, YOU'RE NOT GONNA LEAVE ME

carter heard the approaching footsteps and looked behind her, nodding slightly. "Yeah, she's just a bit shaken up. It sounds like something is coming for a snack real quick," she stood up and looked at Jace, blushing stupidly, "Could you go run to my tent and get my hunting knife?"

  • (feels empowered by Athenas words)

Hayla pulled back her machete thinking about throwing it at the next gurgle sound. The more she listen the more she heard the other adults foot steps. She couldn't remember this guy's name but by the blush on her face. Are we going back Carter? Is he a escort? dull wielding her chetes made her feel safe. She wasn't strong so back up is all she could give..

  • Wake Up

STAY, YOU'RE NOT GONNA LEAVE ME

carter nodded quietly, "you're going back. i need to stay here and fight off the oncoming hoard with whatever i have left." she gave a soft grin and winked at the younger child mischeviously. "i've got some aces up my sleeve."
    //hella low muse

  • Blair ran through the forest, making a couple close calls as they carelessly made blind turns around trees and bushes and smacked their way to the camp. They didn't stop, and they wondered how Hayla had gotten there so fast

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Jace looked between Carter and Hayla and finally realized where he had met the little girl before. The nomad, Athena, took care of her and other little kids, and this happened to be one of them. He looked around to see if any zombies were nearby then finally said, "Well, I can be your escort back to Athena, but not today. There's so many more zombies out today that I don't think it's a good idea if you leave again. You seem like a tough kid, but like hell am I gonna risk it."

  • Why was her heart pumping in her ears. Darn. She should have stayed..lifting up she placed her chetes in their sheath. Looking down she said in all honestly I want to go back.. I know Athenas worried she's probably got Blair running crazy after me.. Looking back towards the way she came, she heard the distant crashing and frowned far away flying birds and distant crunching sounds..that's not a zombie though cause that's the way I came.. She said to Jace, then looked to Carter a worried expression converting her early panic.

[color=#FFFFFF]she trotted briskly from their room, the one she shared now and called out for the children, her voice a calling note and calm as anything. she was used to this, but the thought of blair out on their own covered in her blood, that did things it shouldn't be able to do to her. it did things that even missing children couldn't do to her. her heart was leaping in her chest like it was going to go chase blair down itself, and she had to hold onto a doorway to stop from doing exactly that.

regaining her senses she shook off and gathered the children into their bedroom and went about the compound with their aid, gathering supplies that would last them if they had to stay up above ground for a while. there had been a taller part of the building built that she had finished and weather proofed with an ex-carpenter when he came through. she was grateful to him for helping her to build it, and it kept everyone safe, safer than it had kept him when zombies got in before she reinforced the doors and entries. she had reluctantly killed him, and his son was young arnold, no more than a year when brought to her.

her heart leaping she led them onto the roof. here she had a vantage point, she could shelter the children with bedding, storage for food items and a place to see everything from. she could keep safe, even if the elements brought cold air through her hideaway, the children huddled in the corner as she stood against the full body wall, armored 'blinds' drawn and incensed candles burning in a deep vase around the safe space.

  • Speak of the devil, Blair showed up just outside the camp, still covered in blood and huffing for breath. After a moment of heavy breathing and stretching, they straightened, "Hayla! God, I'm glad you're safe, and good job coming here, this is a good, safe place to go to. Athena was so worried, I was so worried, and I came right here. It isn't safe out here, so let's get inside the camp until the hordes pass through."

OOC: guys can we seriously talk about what the main camp is like? where is it? what does it look like? are there any fences or walls?

  • //the camp is a flat plain with tents all around, with a garage/workshop near the edge. It is surrounded by chainlink fences with barbed wire on top of it to keep people from climbing out/into it. the entrance is quite worrying to outsiders due to the people guarding it with guns and such.

    Wake Up

STAY, YOU'RE NOT GONNA LEAVE ME

carter soothed the child with quiet noises, "hey, hey, its okay." she mumbled softly. //wow where did my muse go

  • Hayla sighs done then finally looks around the camp, honestly she didn't know what this place was till she got in. The guards didn't much moved from their spot when she stormed in. The place was well guarded she figured from the gates and wire she couldn't sneak out of here even if she tried. Hearing Blair call her name made her refocuse on the gate and the bloody shirt. Hayla moved away from the two leaving them to meet Blair half way, that crazy woman should have made Blair change clothes.. You guys didn't have to worry... I'm sorry for um..ya know wondering off without permission... At the mention of going back Hayla was already marching towards the gates opening. Thank you Mr..Hope you'll visit Carter thanks for um.. Listening Yes so on her heels she turned awkwardly walking away as quickly as possible.

  • Oh whoops I've totally messed up on what the camp looks like >.<"' I thought it had cars piled up around it eh ^^;; (I really need to finish my forms geebers. Anyways, I won't be home tonight. I have track so this is my notification)

  • OOC: oh okay i get it now. cause it was really confusing with mentions of the forest, the city, and rivers, so the canon was pretty messy to me

Blair made their way over to Hayla and took another final deep breath, "I'm just glad you're safe, Hayla, but you really did have us worried. It's dangerous to go alone. But now that we're here, we should stay until tomorrow so we can ride out the horde, and so I don't have to run out covered in blood again." they chuckled humorlessly then pointed in the direction of their tent, "That's my tent over there, feel free to make yourself comfortable or say hi to everyone else here. I gotta radio in to Athena so she doesn't worry."

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Jace rolled his eyes at the drama of it all, If Blair just stayed over there then this wouldn't happen. She obviously wants to stay with Athena, so just let her! We can take up the extra work. By extra work, Jace obviously would not do it. He just didn't want the extra trouble of taking care of kids running back and forth from a garage and a dump every other day. He looked between the 'drama family' and Carter, then asked, "So, do ya still want me to get your knife?"

  • Wake Up

STAY, YOU'RE NOT GONNA LEAVE ME

carter gave a short, quick nod. "Yeah, get the nice one near the edge of my bed. It has a black handle and a shiny silver blade. It's about this big." she gave him guestimate with her hands about how long the knife was before staring back at the woods.

  • Jace nodded and trotted off, but stopped for a moment to go back. He put a hand on Carter's shoulder to get her attention again, "Hey, yeah since you don't have one right now, until I get back just hold onto mine. Don't wanna leave you defenseless." he handed her the hunting knife that he was in the process of sharpening before, then went off to her tent without waiting for a refusal. Carter's tent (just creatively guessing here, i can fix it if you don't like this description) was situated closer to the middle of camp and was one of the larger tents of the group - large enough to stand in as if it were maybe a tiny room. He unzipped the green door of the tent and went inside and tried to find her requested

It didn't take long, the description was pretty accurate of the worn knife. It was nice in this moment, but when it was first made it was shinier, and the lines of damascus steel made a beautiful pattern in the blade. He picked it up and left the tent, heading back to the girl

  • Matt shook his head at the drama of the camp; it never seemed to end. He finished cleaning the barrel of a gun and went back into the shop to pin a handle on a kukri, one of a few projects. He also created bullets whenever they could find gun powder, though it was becoming harder and harder to find good enough material to make a decent bullet. Once he was done with that, he grabbed a piece of unseasoned jerky and a water bottle, then sat down outside of the shop. He took a bite, chewing slowly. He watched Jace enter a tent and saw the other milling about.

((just getting a feel of the RP before I jump in

  • Drawing in a steady breath Hayla tried for a steady beat, after all normally she wasn't this odd. Out of character very..Listening to the every nice scolding she nodded at every word, of course she was shutting down replacing what was crumbling because of feelings. I'm sorry to cause trouble..it's really not in my character.. pausing mid step she turned to the tent then looked back towards Blair Do you have parts or wires? ..never mind.. I'll keep busy and out the way. Inching back she waved towards the three, maybe fix this toy car some more. Pulling of her book bag she tugged the zipper open, reached in nd grabbed the dusty old remote controled car. Reaching Blair's tent she sat next time the opening then little tools at hand and she was content with life.

  • "We have some spare parts in the garage, but you'll have to ask Matt before just taking them,"Blair watched Hayla walk off with a sigh, comforted in the fact she was safe and occupied, and that they could radio in to Athena who was probably very worried they haven't checked in yet. They walked off to the garage to find the radio and hoped nobody else was using it and ran into Matt along the way

"It's good to see you, Matt," they thumbed back to the outside, "I'm sure you saw all that, sorry. Hey, while I'm here, do we have any extra 9mm bullets in storage? I had to shoot a bunch of zombies this morning and I'm running low."
