  • [center][fancypost=text-align:justify; width:400px]/ please wait until @Whitepaw fire @Branchpaw @addercry and @SNOWPAW! have posted!

They were not trespassing, nor were they stopping to have a chat. The patrol were simply out marking the border on their side of the river as was routine. Audenine, the newly branded deputy, would slow to a stop once they reached their destination. He turned to his patrol, the sun hitting his large frame and casting a tall shadow onto the forest floor. "I'm sure I don't have t' remind any of ya 'bout this, but don't go gettin' aggressive if any RiverClanners come by. After we're done, we're movin' on."

If any of the water-loving clan cats were to come by, however, Audenine wouldn't mind having a quick conversation with them. They were there for a reason though, however mundane the task was. Whatever interactions resulted from the brief meeting would be short and sweet, though certainly not unwelcome. One moon prior, he wouldn't have thought twice about relations with other clans, apart from how many herbs he'd need to pick in case of a battle. Nowadays he found himself actively wanting to befriend his neighbours, with the intention of maybe gaining some allies in the future. They would need some, if a battle were to ever break out.

  • [center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify;overflow:auto]audenine was still an enigma to him. one day this bear of a feline waltzing into their leader's dream and suddenly he's hopping both clans and positions like some kind of indecisive rat trying to choose a way of life. it was preposterous, really, that stoneface would pluck this beast of any and choose to take him under her wing in her own brood. thunderclan seemed to accept him well enough; they never were a very bright lot in addercry's personal opinion. too friendly, too open, too damned foolish for their own well-being.

he'd approach the riverclan border close behind the ashen maine coon. his head was lowered to be on equal ground with his rotating shoulders, ears splayed in a way that made them appear to grow from the outer sides of his skull like the horns of cattle rather than the auditories of the cat he was. the usual quirk of his upper lips left the points of his canines exposed, one curving into view more than the other thanks to his lopsided grimace. it was clear as a cloudless day that the masculine was having far from a thrilling experience. the close proximity of the newly appointed deputy and he only went to worsen the situation, though addercry pushed to be beside the larger so that, if audy were to lash out, he would be the first to strike recoil against the movements.

a mark or two wouldn't hurt either. would definitely help add effect to the "i told you so" he was already brewing in his mind.

recalling his last face-off with the water-based felines, adder snorted haughtily. their tongues were loose as the water in the river, their brains no bigger than those that belonged to the sodden fish they ate. still, riverclan was better than other options - windclan was so meek and lenient, shadowclan was filled with murky low lives, and skyclan was but a cheap knockoff of his own clan. in comparison, river wasn't all too bad. didn't mean he took more of a shining to it.

viridian eyes that shared a shade of the trees in the forest he hailed from fixated with a cold solidity on the second-in-command as he reminded everyone to watch themselves. did he think they were stupid? thunderclan was leagues better than skyclan at everything. they didn't need to take orders like this was their first time out of the nursery. hell, adder was almost the same age as audenine. he didn't need guidance from this entitled outcast.

"as long as they stay on their side there won't be a problem." the statement was a low threat, emphasized with a huff that shuddered adder's entire frame. he wasn't fond of the fish-breaths, but he knew better than to cross borders. boundaries, however? if they were moral he'd gladly step where he didn't belong. the warrior refrained from hostility until provoked. of course, he never really saw himself as aggressive, more righteous than anything. so if he started yelling, he wouldn't see it as going against audenine's orders. instead, it'd be putting whoever back in their places.

  • AS LONG AS I'M BY YOUR SIDE — branchpaw — trad. thunderclan — he/him

Branchpaw liked Audenine as an individual, but it seemed like he felt as if he was above them already. Sure, he may be the deputy, but he was still a newcomer to the clan. It seemed like he was expecting immediate respect, and reminding them not to attack the Riverclanners like they were a group of idiotic kits was quite insulting to the pointed apprentice. He would let out a soft sigh, a slight nod of his head showing that he had heard the older tom, before glancing over the border. He was honestly quite curious as to whether there were Riverclanners out at the current moment, and if they would run into them.
    [center]

  • "RiverClan cats are not usually aggressive to us. They have no reason to currently" Whitepaw said. "I wonder what fish taste like" he said outloud. Fish is what gives RiverClanners their pelts.

  • The young she-cat followed close behind the others. When it came to the cats in her clan, she was trusting of each of them. Even though she knew Audenine wasn't clan-born, she was content with him already being deputy. He seemed like a strong cat, who could perhaps be a good leader one day. She simply gave a nod when he spoke of the relations with Riverclan. Well, if these cats weren't fans of Thunderclan, then that must be their fault. She glanced over at Whitepaw, after he spoke up.

"Ugh. Fish sounds gross. It's smelly, too! I don't know how they can eat that," Snowpaw mumbled, following close after the other cats. She didn't comment much on their relationship with Riverclan. She barely knew anything. She was honestly just here to learn. Although, she still let her fish comment slip out. Truth was, the scent of fish was disgusting to her. Not to mention how she wouldn't ever want to try and catch it. She already loathed getting her fur wet.

  • "oh come on" Whitepaw said to Snowpaw "aren't you even curious about it at all? Or even how the other clans live?". Whitepaw was very interested in the other clans and their culture. Every clan has their strengths and weaknesses.

  • [center][fancypost=text-align:justify; width:400px]// oh my god i meant to write "i don't have to remind any of you" not "i have to remind any of you"...... Memory Problems(tm) yikes. its fixed now

If he was being honest, the tom was mostly directing the statement to Snowpaw. The molly was younger than the toms that were present, a mere seven moons to their twelve, fourteen, sixteen. He didn't want to be rude, however, by singling the molly out and infantilizing her, so he had instead talked to the group as a whole. It seemed that his clanmates weren't too happy with his choice, but he couldn't read their thoughts and would remain blissfully ignorant.

"Fish aren't that bad. Depends on what kind ya get, I guess, but I think they're pretty good. Ya just need t' be more exposed t' it." He had eaten fish before, back during his time in BloodClan. He hadn't tasted it in some time now, but he was more than okay with the prey in the forest. Admittedly, however, he would kill for some of the chicken he used to find in dumpsters in the city, or one of the birds that swam around in the lake... Oops. Now he was getting hungry. Back to marking the borders, he supposed.

  • [center][fancypost=background-color:transparent; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 9pt]For a Riverclan cat, Dawnguard moved much less like one than he had any right to. Lurking in the dense growth as Thunderclan arrived, the Maine coon watched and listened, of course picking up on what he presumed to be a threat of sorts.

Could he handle an entire patrol? Maybe. He was certainly equipped to. But the wounds had not quite healed, and these weren't Bloodclan scents. No need to be aggressive.

"So Thunderclan has come out again." Pushing free of the undergrowth, the brown tabby stood tall, green eyes daring any of them to take a step over, his reinforced claws permanently stuck out. "What do you want?"

  • [center][fancypost=bgcolor=;border: 0px solid white; width: 455px; text-align: justify; height: auto; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 122%; margin-top: -2px;]"Probably....here to check...the border.." His small voice was soft, barely a wheezing whisper from his healing torn throat. His head was lowered as he slowly walked up though his body language was friendly as he could possibly show it with a high tail that waved behind him in greeting. His mismatched eyes were fixed on the patrolling group of Thunderclan cats and he immediately remembered Palepaw. Oh, had she made it back home? She was really curious about herbs and the like when he had last seen her. She'd been lost in Riverclan for a small time but hopefully someone had gotten her home and everything was okay. "I'm...I'm...Tinypaw. How is...Palepaw doing?" He strained himself to talk but that only made his torn through flucuate and move with painful ups and downs that made his face screw up with pain, his pelt bristled from it before he sat down and angled his ears forward to keep note of the five Thunderclanners that were taking stock of their own border. From what the young and too small apprentice didn't think that there was any tensions between Riverclan and Thunderclan and he tried to catch their scent with a slightly parted jaw.

  • "Just marking the borders" Whitepaw said to Dawnguard "I'm Whitepaw in case you don't know". He turned his attention to Tinypaw "Palepaw is fine. She's back at camp. Want me to pass a message? ". He already said his name so he would not repeat himself.

  • [center][fancypost=text-align:justify; width:400px]The tom would pause for a moment, glancing over to the opposing clan's members and giving them a nod in greeting. Whitepaw had already explained why they were there, so the deputy would remain quiet for the time being, simply choosing to go ahead with his duties. The apprentice was smart enough to not go and divulge any secrets - if ThunderClan even had any secrets - so he would let him represent them until a bigger issue arrived.

He had to admit, though, the reinforced claws the older tom had made Audenine uneasy, the big hypocrite. So what if Dawnguard had the sort of claws that Aud would expect to see on BloodClanners? The deputy himself had been a member of BloodClan for most of his life, for StarClan's sake. He would drop his worries after a moment, focusing on spreading his scent.

  • [center][fancypost=width:430px;text-align:justify][size=9]the first riverclanner to approach was, undoubtedly, bigger than he. and perhaps had adder been weaker of heart he would have found solace in the fact that audenine was with him considering the slated male's own gargantuan size. but adder was unfazed in that aspect. all dawnguard's approach brought on from the red and white masc was a downward tip of his head and a lashing movement of his tail that resembled a snake whipping round to warn off dangers.

the unretracted claws on this tom certainly weren't something that went unnoticed as the younger male tempted fate by growing closer to the divide between them. reinforcements were bloodclan's embellishment, and bloodclan were who he hated most. addercry's hatred broiled in a forge and was given to all those outside his clan. bloodclan, however, got more of it than others; they were the worst of all evils in his eyes. scum of the lands, bloodclanners were some foul taint to life. they had no honor, nor did they have dignity. the day dapplestar was taken by them was the day they'd fallen to the bottom rung in the warrior's mind. adder needed no more reason than this to settle on the teetering fact that he hated this tabby.

before something sharp could tumblr from his unwatched tongue, a calico joined the stranger and answered his question before they could. smart kit. at least this one could use his eyes and common sense - both things the former seemed to be sorely lacking in. despite this, the younger looked worse for wear. his ill-faring condition was only heightened by the fact his throat seemed to strangle words before they even came up. shouldn't be be in camp? before he, you know, fell over and died?

whitepaw speaking up had his hackles raising. "they didn't know and they didn't care," the elder spat out at the stark apprentice. his gaze fixed sharply on his clanmate who seemed buddy-buddy with the stranger. couldn't they just do their job without any talk? addercry didn't want the brown tabby to think he could do as his pal did and join in on conversing. in fact, it'd be prim and proper if that one up and left. that aside, tinypaw or whatever he'd said had a throat injury. if whitepaw kept running his mouth at the other it'd split open and the kid would bleed out.

  • This is why Addercry wasn't everyone's favorite cat. He was always rude for no good reason. "I was only being friendly. No need to be hostile" Whitepaw said to the warrior. The one downside of becoming a warrior was sleeping in the same den as Addercry. But Tanglefoot was there too which was a great thing. But still being back in a den with Addercry wouldn't be enjoyable.

    Ic opinions.

  • [center][fancypost=background-color:;border:0;text-align:justify;width:75%;]He hopped beside the edges of the river, most likely looking for a shiny rock. Sometimes the tom liked to pick up rocks and make a pile because it amused him. It was just nice to watch his clanmates get confused when they saw him wasting his time with a bunch of inanimate objects. He was almost finished when his ears shot straight up, perked and listening. He heard a commotion up ahead, and if he was correct there happened to be the scent of ThunderClanners. Strange scents always interested him. He liked taking big whiffs, inhaling the scents until he knew how to recreate the memories in his mind.

He followed behind quietly and stopped behind Dawnguard and Tinypaw, golden hues flickering hints of green to the foreigners that trod along the other side. His ear twitched at Addercry's remark, and his lips skewed slightly. Something told him Addercry was one of those cats you either liked, or disliked strongly. Well, he only decided some cats would like him considering he seemed to be an amusing fellow with a temperamental sharp tongue.

"Nice ta meet ch'ya Whitepaw," the male calmly mewed to the ThunderClan apprentice. But the warrior's comment was undeniably true. Mudpaw didn't really care about who happened to reside in what Clan, but Addercry had just made it seem almost irresistible for the apprentice to say at least something.
    ---

  • It had been a hesitant trip from the camp to the border, where the scent of ThunderClan grew more apparent the closer he got. His strides were short, yet quick as the now three-legged tom pushed his way through an undergrowth, olive irises locked into the patrol before them.

A familiar voice managed to bring his attention away from his clanmates and fell upon the ginger tom he had once known as Adderpaw. The spunky one, the tom was. Always having something to say. He interested him, but also held pity for him as it wasn't everyday an apprentice got held back from their warrior name. Perhaps now that Thornstar was leading, he had now received his warrior name? Who knew?

As he came to a halt next to the others, Owldapple forced a small yet, convincing smile across his features as he scrutinized the cats he would have titled 'clanmates' before his appearance at RiverClan. "Ah, I'm so glad to see that you'll are here, how is everything back at ThunderClan?" He inquired.

  • Admittedly, Snowpaw had no idea what fish tasted like or if it was even decent. She wasn't the slightest bit curious, mostly because of how much the smell bothered her. "Ah, well not about the fish! I am curious about how these other clans live!
" she replied to Whitepaw. While Snowpaw mostly cared about Thunderclan, she could still find interest in things such as how the other clans were. In fact, she was curious about their territories. Although, the she-cat doubted she'd venture across the borders in the future. She glanced at Audenine when he spoke of the fish. She didn't quite respond, just giving a small nod to knowledge him. She could feel that it had something to do with what she said, though just brushed it off.

"We're just here to mark borders!" she called out to the Riverclan cats, soon after the others already stated it. She knew that she was just repeating them. It didn't hurt to hear it a couple of other times. The apprentice didn't introduce herself; she figured that the Riverclan cats didn't quite care about her name. Snowpaw glanced at each of the new Riverclan cats coming up. So far, they seemed friendly. Good. Although Addercry's attitude wasn't that great.

"Woah, calm down there, Addercry! You don't need to be so rude," she told the warrior. She kept her voice relatively calm, though she let it slip out on what she thought of his attitude. The young apprentice glanced towards the other few cats that came along. There were so many of them now. She wasn't quite expecting it. She wasn't quite sure if the question was directed at any of them in particular, though decided to stay silent for now. She figured one of the others would probably answer that question better than her.

  • [center][fancypost=background-color:;border:0;text-align:justify;width:75%;]"Ta be fair we only came around since we're makin' sure you ThunderCats ain't doin' anythin' funny. Otherwise there's no point gettin' all buddy-buddy with each other in a single meeting," the apprentice decided to say, trotting along the bank before dipping his head to the lot of ThunderClanners. He didn't particularly like the foreigners, but he wasn't going to be openly rude to them. "Since ya'll just markin' borders, I'll be off havin' lunch or somethin'. No point hanging 'round 'ere."

With a high tail he returned back to camp.
    ---

  • [center][fancypost=background-color:transparent; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 9pt]The eldest of Riverclan's warriors had little choice but to stand fast, emerald eyes locked onto Addercry as he chastised the apprentice, a low growl in his throat. "Then mark them and get out of here. We have enough issues without Thunderclan poking around." His muscles were coiled, ready to move and strike at the slightest imprecations, tail low and rigid. Dawnguard appeared to be taking exactly zero nonsense today.

  • [center][fancypost=text-align:justify; width:400px]"We ain't pokin' 'round, old man. We're just doin' what we gotta." Why this random elder was roaming around, trying to start fights with full patrols, Aud had no clue. The fact that cats that old even existed still shocked him to that day. He guessed that diseases were easier to prevent when you lived in a small, close-knit clan with access to medicine and herb knowledge. "If we were tryin' t' fight, I woulda taken more than just one warrior an' a few 'pprentices. C'mon, now."
