    WHERE'S MY MIND — alice — windclan — she/her — tags

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]What had happened to her? The girl found reading beneath every tree - the one who greeted newcomers with a shy smile - the cub who's family was so dear to her. Everything that could have possibly gone wrong had occurred so quickly, all at once. She felt like she had been forced into adulthood. She had always been mature, but she'd never had to deal with this kind of stress. Anxiety, anger, depression. They came in waves. And then emptiness, once they'd all had their turn. Alice was scared to face those emotions that caused her to lash out and run away, and had bottled them up - she had bottled everything up. The only problem now was that those bottles quickly filled up. If she didn't open the cap herself, it would explode, so to speak.

    Currently, the pale lioness had been seated near the new garden. Kate's garden, wasn't it? Hazel eyes were observing the tiny sprouts and admiring the medic's handiwork. Alice enjoyed the feeling it presented her with; a serene and hopeful atmosphere. It was the Force that communicated these emotions with her, drawing from the new life that took the form of young vegetables. It distracted the guardian; though the Force only really got to her when she was hurting.

    // @kate marsh.

  • Kate had known Alice's father since she was young herself. Heck, it had been around the time she had first joined and began her training as a medic. But never in a million years would she have guessed Vader had kids. And especially not that Alice was one of them. She could not imagine the robot lion as a father-- which also coupled with the fact she did not know that the drama brewing between Vader, the leader and deputy had also affected the kids she did not even know existed. Since Kate was unaware what was the cause for the gray cloud that hovered above her head. Kate was the picture child for the kind of person that went around smiling and telling everyone she was fine when she was not. So it was easy for her to tell when others where upset too. Seeing Alice so upset worried her. And she wanted to check up on her. She padded over, carrying a watering can with her which she set aside to speak with the lion cub."Hey. I don't think I ever caught your name. Would you like to help tend to my garden?" she offers with a warm smile.

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]The Force immediately left her at the sound of Kate's voice, retreating into the corners of her mind. Surprised at the sudden reawakening, Alice's head snapped up and over to face the femme, eyes wide and muscles tense. With a breath, the cub relaxed and her hazel gaze fell to the side awkwardly. "Sorry, you just - I just - surprised me," she stuttered, grasping for an appropriate apology. She recognised the pomeranian as Kate - the manager of sorts of the garden. What if she thought Alice was up to no good? Her tone suggested otherwise, but the child was wary of possibilities. "I was just looking," she added hastily, and then suddenly paused. "It's Alice. Um, sure." She was too wired up to disagree at this point. The canine's smile brought a shy one to her own features. Hey, it was just gardening. It couldn't be that bad.

  • The medic blinked, her silver optics widening when she realized that she had startled Alice. It did not seem like she was concerned about Alice potentially messing with the garden. In fact, she was beating herself up more than anything else. Way to go, Kate. You hardly even know her yet and she's already going to be freaked out by you. Netherless, she continued to smile. "Don't apologize, it's alright. I shouldn't have snuck up on you like that." it looked like she had been lost in her own thoughts or meditating, and that's just what she sort of assumed had been going on. She just hoped she had not interrupted her peace. Then the lioness shared her name. Alice. The name brought up a lot of positive emotions in her own heart. In her past life, she used to have a pet rabbit named Alice. For a long time, that rabbit was the only friend she ever had growing up as a kid. She had named her after the books about the adventures in Wonderland. She loved the name Alice a lot. "It's very nice to meet you again, Alice." She pauses, turning her head to her garden for a moment to think to herself. "Is there anything in particular you'd like to grow?"

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Way to go - now it seemed Alice had handed over the guilt, and that thought brought it back to her. She shared in the awkward atmosphere, twisting a paw into the dirt and watching it carefully. "You didn't sneak! It's okay; I was just... nevermind, it's okay." she assured the canine after a moment of pondering her words - and still messing them up. She wasn't in the mood for explaining the Force, and she still wasn't certain of it herself - and highly doubted Kate knew anymore. "Nice to meet you too, Kate," the girl responded, making an effort to raise her head and acknowledge the femme. "It is Kate, right?" Oh boy, what if it wasn't? She was sure that's how others had referred to her, but what if that was just a name between friends? Countless questions seemed to cross her mind, and each one dug further into her chest; it created a deep pit of anxiety. Alice paused at the final question. She didn't know her flora so well. It was Kate's garden, after all, not hers. "Um, whatever you want to plant is fine," she answered quickly, before on second thought, adding in, "I... don't know a lot about plants."

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%][color=beige]When Alice asks if Kate was her name, she nods. "Yup, that's me! It's very nice to meet you too." she never actually shared with anyone that her full name was actually Katelyn, but that was because she did not like being called that and preferred to go by Kate over anything else. Even Katie was a bit iffy to her. "That's alright, you don't need to know gardening all that well to know what you'd like to plant. See? The bags each of the seeds are in show you a picture of what each flower's gonna look like when they fully grow. So you can choose based on which you like the best." she gently pushes the tiny bags over to Alice so she could see for herself. "And if you don't like flowers, we can grow fruits and vegetables as well. That way when they're ready, they can be eaten as snacks." She did not want to pressure the cub at all, so she figured if she still was not sure, she could choose for her in the long run.

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Alice leaned down to inspect the bags, sniffing at them curiously. It was amazing, really - how such small, unimportant seeds could be the beginning of such beautiful life. Uncertain of which one to pick, the cub's eyes darted from picture to picture until resting upon one at random. Bright yellow petals, with a protruding orange centre. The bag read Daffodils. "Alright, how about these ones?" she offered, nosing the bag forward. It was noticeably heavier than most of the other bags, and the "seeds" felt much larger through the paper. She hoped Kate would approve of her choice. "Or something else, if you don't like these ones..."

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%][color=beige]"Oh, daffodils!" Kate exclaimed happily. She loved flowers of all kinds. Daffodils where definatly special to her. "Daffodils symbolize new beginings. Perfect for spring time, don't you think? I bet everyone would be very happy to see some pretty yellow colors around camp. I think it'll help make things much more cheerful." It was fitting, actually. New beginings certainly represented almost everyone living in Windclan right now. So many changes where happening lately. And she hoped these flowers helped remind people that not all those changes needed to be bad. She carefull tore the bag open so that the seeds could be poured out into the soil. "Go ahead and spread some of the seeds out, Alice." She instructs gently, patting at the soil with one of her tiny paws to show her where to do so.

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]New beginnings... she could certainly use a fresh start. Though the move had affected most of the clan positively, the wonder of it all had been swiftly disrupted by her brother's change of body. Then Vader had gotten mad and called him a coward; Pluto had up and left the house; Padmè had abandoned them all together, and the other two siblings were nowhere to be seen. All she had tried to do was fix everything, but it had all fallen apart. A brief expression of melancholy flashed across her features, before she smiled. No more negativity. Hell, she needed that new beginning. Daffodils it was. "O-okay," Alice murmured, following the canine's instructions. She separated a couple of seeds from the pile, and pushed them into the shallow hole with a paw. "Like this?"

    [fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%][color=beige]Kate had no idea about Alice's issues right now. Heck, she didn't even know that her father was Vader (which would probably shock her a bit if she ever does), but if she knew what she was going through, she would do everything in her power to help the poor lion cub out. Spend more time with her to keep her mind off the sad things going on in her life, give her advice, help her through it all-- because in her past life, when she was human, she knew what going through family issues was like. Very much so. Her mother was emotionally abusive, her father loved her dearly but was too busy with work to be home, her uncle that was like a second father in her life to her had been in a car wreck and as result lost his mind. And now here she was in this life, her adoptive father dead and her children gone from her life. Family wasn't exactly a topic she enjoyed. But that's why she looked after her clanmates so much. That's why she would want to help Alice. Because she deserved a friend to look out for her. She smiled faintly to herself as she watched Alice plant the seeds. "Wow, you're a natural at this, Alice! Especially for someone who's only just learning to garden. I'm very impressed!" she beamed.
