Mark swallowed thickly once Jack had called him handsome. He just kept his gaze to the side, not wanting to make matters worse. "No... I don't really have one. I had a boyfriend, but he's long gone. He left back to the UK after a few years," a soft sigh left his lips. Allowing his head to fall back and rest against the couch cushion. "I see a lot in you, Jack. I saw a lot in the photo of you. It may be a really old picture, but you indeed caught my attention. To the point where I had found myself not paying attention to anything around me," he mused. Moving a hand up to curl his fingers through his dark hair. "I'm surprised you think I'm handsome," he commented after a moment of silence. A soft smile managing to finally form on his lips. Maybe he could actually get closer to Jack, this thing could actually work.

Mark's words made Jack blush harder. Fuck, he's really serious about this. Jack didn't have a problem with Mark. He thought Mark was an attractive man, and he was a kind person. However, Jack knew what the odds were of them living a life together. Slim to none, in other words. The police would be after him, and they had the right to execute Jack if it came to it. If he wasn't careful, he could end up hurting Mark. He didn't want to do that.
"That picture isn't as old as you may think, truth be told. That picture was the last photo I took as Sean. It's probably a few months old." Jack had changed drastically in the past few months in order to protect himself. He didn't miss the boring, brown hair. He was beginning to enjoy his green hair.
He blushed a little more, and he grazed his fingertips through his wet locks of hair. "I won't lie, you are an attractive man. That much I will admit." He half smiled, and he ducked his head a little."Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"

The American bit his lip, instantly noting the sudden change. He could see the uncertainty in his gaze, anf that caused him to back down from the stance he had been in. After a few minutes of silence, he finally found some words to say. "Well... I guess that's what a lot of people say," he found his shoulder sagging in an awkward manner. He was now panicking, unsure of what to do. His mind was kicking into overdrive, since he had seen the expression on the males face. Which caused him to shrink away from perusing someone to call his own. What saved him from looking like a broken down machine was Chica, who wanted to go out. "I'll be right back," he breathed. Standing up to follow the canine toward the back door. Opening it for her so she could go out and wander around the back. He stood and waited for her, shifting back up against the wall. "Sorry... You're eyes caused me to backfire. You look uncertain. Nothing is going to go well if one is uncertain about a relationship," he finally spoke to Jack after a moment of cooling off.

His smile faded when he realized his words had seemed to upset Mark. Jack nervously chewed on his bottom lip as he nervously ran a hand through his hair, a few locks of hair sticking up. Shit. I probably just fucked this all up. He heaved a small sigh. I don't know what to feel right now. When was the last time I ever loved someone? When was the last time I gazed into the eyes of someone I genuinely loved? When Jack couldn't find the answer to his question, he got a little worried.
He gazed back at Mark, sighing a little. "I'm sorry if you got the wrong message out of that," he apologized. He paused to run his hand back through his hair again. That was his nervous tick. "I honestly think you're a great guy from what I can tell. It's just.. it's me." He cringed at his own words. This was starting to sound cliche. "The point is," he sighed, "I'm scared that if I do get involved with you romantically, I'm scared I'll end up hurting you. The police are searching for me, and if they find me, they have the right to k-kill me." He paused when his voice cracked. The reality finally hit him. The odds were not in his favor. With his luck, the police would kill him before he had a chance to explain himself. He gave out a shaky sigh, gazing down at his lap as tears dotted the corners of his eyes. "I'm just scared to get close to someone. I don't want to hurt anyone." He probably said too much, but he was suddenly feeling a surge of emotion. He needed to vent out. That was how he felt better. "Especially not someone as kindhearted as you.""Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
Mark had found himself frowning when Jack started to break down. Especially at the word 'kill', which made him feel awful. "They don't have the right to do that. They can't just up and kill someone. They would probably shoot you if you weren't cooperating... But they can't shoot you. You'd probably years upon years of jail time if they find you," he replied. Hoping the other got the hint that he would take the bullet. Because the thought of seeing Jack bleeding out on the ground made him quiver in disgust and pure horror. He was snapped out of his gaze when he heard scratching at the door, allowing Chica back into the house. His heart started to hurt when he noticed Jack seemed to be upset. He walked over to him and struggled to make him feel better. He just curled his arms around Jack and pulled him close, face pressing against the Irishman's shoulder. Keeping him as close as he possibly could, trying to comfort him. "You won't hurt me, if something goes wrong I can fix it. Don't worry about me, okay? Do whatever you think is best for you. If you think this will not work, I'll listen. I don't want to do something that'll make you worry," he murmured. Making sure Jack was comfortable, not wanting him to be sore.

Jack gazed back up at Mark as he replied. He wanted to believe that they wouldn't kill him. However, Jack felt that the police had already spread the rumors, calling him a cold-blooded killer. He had tried to avoid the news just in case some information came up that he didn't want to see. I'm at the complete mercy of the cops if they find me. The more reasonable ones may simply arrest me. The harder ones may just shoot me and get rid of me.
Jack was surprised when he felt the other man's arms around him. At first, he tensed up. He wasn't use to physical contact-- or, at least, loving physical contact. When he realized Mark was just trying to comfort him, he melted into his embrace. He didn't speak for a moment. He wasn't sure what to say to Mark. It's going to be dangerous. It's going to hurt. It's going to break you. It's going to end up with me dead. Those were the things Jack should have been saying. Instead, he murmured, "I.. I think I'd like to give it a try." His voice held firm, any doubt removed from his voice. Let hellfire rain, for all he cared. He didn't want to disappoint Mark."Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
Mark tensed when Jack did so, but loosened up after a while. He lifted his head after a moment when the other man started to speak. Brown eyes blinking in surprise upon hearing that he was willing to give it a go. "Are you sure? I don't want you to end up dead or something. I'm giving you this choice now, since I don't want you to regret it later." He warned softly. Eyes still fixed on blue, the blue eyes he had fallen in love with while staring at the photo of a criminal on the run. It's funny how things change and weird stuff happens. Jack needs to have a say as to what happens. I don't want him to feel unhappy after a while. Or even end up getting himself hurt or killed due to their relationship. No matter how much I want to have a relationship, Jack gets the first say as to what happens. Mark thought. But snapped out of it as he started to move. Shifting down onto the couch, he pulled Jack down with him. Keeping his arms wrapped around the others own. Making sure he was close as humanly possible.

Jack paused for a moment. You know you're agreeing to something pretty big, right? he asked himself. Jack rested his head on Mark's chest. He was aware of the consequences if he messed up. I won't mess this up. I won't let Mark get hurt because of me. If it comes down to it, I will make sure he doesn't get hurt. Jack found it rather ironic that he was promising to protect the man who looked like he could win in a fight. Meanwhile, Jack couldn't open a jar of pickles if the lid was on too tight.
Jack gave a nod of his head. "I'm aware of what's at stake," he replied quietly. "I haven't known you for very long, but I already like you better than people I've known all my life. When I told you I was Sean, I entrusted a lot of faith into you. You didn't immediately turn me into the police, which was nice. Telling you really took a little of the weight off my shoulders." He paused as he realized he was about to start rambling. "My point is that I'll be committed to this if you will be. We'll get to know each other a lot better. And hopefully, maybe this whole situation with the cops will have a happy ending.""Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
Mark listened to the silence, hating how awkward it felt to him. What was Jack contemplating? Was he even thinking about what they would do? What would happen to him in general? Then again, there was probably a lot of things that he was thinking about. What shocked the American more was how determined the Irishman was. "I'm not that cruel, I wouldn't throw someone over to the cops. Besides, it would take a lot for me to give up someone that I consider close to me," he murmured. Amusement flooding through him as the other rambled. To which he found adorable, and desperately wanted to hear him do more of. "Okay, we're going to give this a try," a grin started to form in his face. And he moved his head down to nuzzle Jack's own head when it was resting on his chest. After a moment, he allowed his head to rest back. A soft yawn slowly leaving his lips as he laid there. "I'm so exhausted... I just want to sleep," he reached a hand up to rub at his face.

Relief flooded through Jack's system. We're actually doing this. We're actually fucking doing it. Finally. Jack would have someone there for him. Sure, he dated once or twice in high school, but that was as far as he had ever come to having a relationship with someone. And now I'm getting into a relationship with a man I hardly know. Jack didn't find it weird-- instead, it fueled him with curiosity over the dark haired man.
He chuckled when Mark yawned. "How are you tired?" he snickered. "You didn't wake up too long ago, right?" Jack felt full of energy, something he hadn't felt in a while. He had been in a constantly tired state when he was on the streets. That day was the first in a while he felt fully recharged."Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
"Mmh? I've been up for a while. And I also stayed up later than I had expected I would. So I'm a tad tired," he murmured. The comfortable position also had him feeling a bit tired. He kept themselves both lying down on the couch, wanting the Irishman to be as content as possible. He glanced to the side, noticing Chica had nudged at Jack. Before she finally hopped up beside them and settled down. "I'll probably wake up in a little while, it's still early you know." A soft chuckle left his lips as he spoke. Surprised the other had so much energy built up inside of him. When he had taken him in, he seemed totally exhausted and out of it. Now he was just a green ball of joy. "You're looking much better than the state I had found you in," he murmured softly. arms still gently curled around Jack, as if he was afraid to break him if he held on too tightly.

The Irishman nodded his head a little in understanding. He knew what it felt like to stay up late at night. He had done it many times as he laid in the hotel beds, staring up at the cracked ceilings, wondering if he was going to see tomorrow or if he was going to be shot and killed.
Jack tried pushing the worrying thoughts away. He half smiled. "Last night was the best sleep I've had in a long while. It's not too comfortable to sleep in cheap motels or alleys." He gently nuzzled a little closer to Mark. He liked the warmth the other provided him. Jack was naturally a cold-nature person. At that moment, he wasn't really cold-- he was in a comfortable state. "Especially when you're worried for your life.""Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
Mark looked down toward Jack through half lidded eyes. A soft smile of amusement curling his lips as he listened to him speak. "I'm glad you slept well, hopefully you'll start getting more sleep than what you have been before," he hummed softly. A blush dusting his cheeks as Jack nestled close to him. He was adorable, and he couldn't ask for a much better boyfriend than this. "Cold? Or just really snugly?" He asked in a playful manner. Moving his arms up a bit from around his waist, tugging Jack up a bit so their heads were slightly aligned with the others own. He then allowed his hands to playfully run over the skin that was showing on Jack's back. "This is nice... I've never been happier," a soft sigh left his lips. Indicating that he was content with how things were going.

Jack grinned at the dark haired male. "A little bit of both," he chuckled. A pink tint was starting to spread across his cheeks as well. Jack wasn't accustomed to being so close to someone. It made his heart beat a little faster. Damn.. I really do wear my heart on my sleeve, don't I?
Jack smiled a little when he said he was happy. "That's good to hear. I'm happy if you're happy." Jack honestly couldn't remember the last time he was really, truly happy. Truth be told, he wasn't completely. There was still doubt creeping in his mind. He was scared for Mark's safety now as well as his own. I can't let that show. I can't let him know I'm worried, though. Other than that, he was happy. Happier than he had been before all the shit happened to him."Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
"Little bit of both? That makes more sense," he replied gently. Pleased to see that blush he had created was spreading over Jack's face. Stretching out his legs, he allowed a soft yawn to leave his lips once more. Falling limp once again, because he didn't want to be shifting around too much under Jack. The other would probably feel him shifting and think he was uncomfortable. He didn't want him to get off and leave him without anyone to snuggle. "I'm also happy if you're happy. It made me happy to know you were happy with sleeping," Mark found himself laughing at his words. That truly was a mouthful, but he managed to say it. "What would you like to do now?" He questioned. His head moving up a bit to look at Jack in a curious manner. Wanting to know what he wanted to do, instead of what he wanted.

Jack laughed in what felt like one of the first times in a long while. "Good to know everybody's happy," he grinned. It was a nice feeling, Jack had to admit. He use to be happy as a child. Then he stopped being so joyful and happy all the time. Finally, Jack had come to realize that some days he had to force himself to smile or laugh.
Jack shrugged when Mark asked him what he wanted to do. "I don't really know," he replied. Jack knew one thing he wanted to do-- he wanted to go outside. He wanted to be able to walk outside without fear of being shot. He wanted to walk around and see people. However, he knew he wasn't allowed to go outside during the day. Not with people around. "What is there to do around here?" When he noticed Mark shifted, Jack asked, "Am I making you uncomfortable?""Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
Mark felt his heart soar as he heard the male laugh, noticing that it was probably the first time he had heard him do so. "It wouldn't be a healthy relationship if one side wasn't happy," he hummed. "I do have multiplayer games if you would like to join me in a gaming session," he hummed. Allowing his hands to move up and mindlessly twiddle with the others green locks. His eyes opened up a bit more once the male asked if he was uncomfortable. "Of course not, I'm just shifting to get comfortable. I'm afraid you'll get uncomfortable if I'm not," he said. Hoping to assure the other, not wanting him to worry too much. After a while, Mark shifted up and got Jack up as well. Eager to know if he was willing to play a game with him.

Jack's eyes lit up at the mention of video games. "I'd love to," he smiled. Jack use to play video games all the time as a child. It was his escape from his parents who never gave him a second thought. When Jack had nothing, he had his video games. It was a sad truth, but it helped Jack get through his childhood.
He smiled a little, liking the feeling of Mark's fingers in his hair. He usually hated for people to touch his hair, but he was comfortable with allowing Mark to do it. He frowned a little when the other male sat up, but then he asked, "What kind of games do you have? I play just about anything." He could never decide a favorite game. There were too many for him to choose."Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
-
Mark was pleased that Jack was interested in playing a few video games with him. He shifted and allowed his arms to stretch up above his head, a soft yawn leaving his lips as he did so. "What kind of games? I have a few call of duty games. I also have some childish games. You can play grand theft auto, I have a few games of those. Maybe later I can sit back and watch you play," he hummed. Standing up after a while to head up to his room. Motioning for the Irishman to follow along after him. Eagerly wanting to show him the games that he housed. Sitting down on his bed, he grabbed two controllers and waited for the other to sit with him. "Come on! I don't bite," he winked playfully. Once he coaxed the other into his room, he handed him a remote. "I also have a few puzzle games, what sounds interesting to you?" He asked. Shifting back just a bit, slightly leaning against Jack as he did so. A gentle smile still plastered on his face. Enjoying the man's company greatly.

Jack's gaze flickered with curiosity. So many options! The Irishman got up, following Mark to his room. Jack snickered as he sat down next to the dark haired man. "You may not bite, but I might," he grinned. Mark felt like an easy person to be playful with. Sometimes, Jack was so energetic that he felt he annoyed people with his high-energy.
Jack thought for a moment, unsure of what game to play. "Hmm.. I don't really have a preference. I'm good with whatever game you want to play." He ran his fingertips through his green hair. It was starting to dry, and the green locks were slowly curling up like they did when they weren't dried with a blow dryer. It probably looks pretty goofy, he thought to himself. My hair has a mind of its own, I swear."Top of tha' mornin to ya, laddies!"
