Rasper lashed his tail and looked at the sky. The bright sun gleamed and he could already feel the end of winter coming quicker than expected. He glanced at Adira and she seemed practically invisible whereas he was completely out in the open. It was ten times harder to catch something when you were colored differently than the snow. It was always a lucky shot to catch anything. "That's good, It's a little brighter today and i'll need help." He inspected the snow under his paw. He squished it down and was happy it wasn't too powdery. "I'll see if your pack skills are useful." He nudged her with his shoulder and grinned. He started to track right away.
Lifting his muzzle to the sky and scenting, he listened closely and began his "chase" already. He didn't wait for her because you can't. You have to jump into the opportunity. "I'm planning to get a buck." He called back to her when he got to the first layer of the forest trees. He ducked and began to travel further inside, he made sure to cover the tracks he made yesterday. But the blood stains were very apparent. He didn't know if the herd would pop their heads out if they see the blood.

"Oh trust me," she replied with a grin. "My pack skills are still here." With that, she followed after him, stretching out her faintly sore muscles as she walked along with Rasper. She parted her jaws and sniffed the crisp air. She could smell the deer now and at that, her tail begun to wag. Finally, after months of struggling to build some sort of life for herself, she had enough rest to stop being her own burden. Adira's ears flicked as she followed the male's lead and ducked into the layer of forest trees. She remembered to keep her pawsteps light and made sure her tail didn't drag behind her. A fire of intensity burned within her light brown eyes as she eyed the forest for any sign of life. The deer were here, she knew. One because the forest was one of the only places left for food and two, as Rasper said, deer stay in the same place unless they don't feel safe. Yesterday's catch might have spooked them, but if deer were as stupid as she recalled than eventually they would make an appearance.

Rasper lifted his ears in excitement and beckoned her over. "Follow." He whispered and set off, he had found a fresh scent trail. He lightly jogged, keeping himself lowered and peeking around trees and dying shrubs. He couldn't wait to see them. He was starving once again. He spotted the herd drifting close to the previous death sight of yesterday and he could have practically howled. "I'm aiming for the buck." He looked at her with gleaming eyes. "Any ideas?"
-
Anticipation prickled within Adira's paws as the herd of deer came into sight. Adira couldn't help the wag of her tail at this. She yearned to be out there, the thrill of the hunt making her heart beat and tounge loll. The pure white she-wolf narrowed her eyes, focusing on one of the easier bucks to catch. He was at the back of the herd, young by the length of his antlers. He seemed intent on nudging through the snow for fresh vegetation beneath the snowy surface.
"We split up and surround the outside of the herd," she whispered. "See that buck? He is at the back and what we do is we flank him from either sides." -
Rasper squinted and ducked even more. He held his breath when that said buck lifted his head and stared at their direction. He stayed perfectly poised and let out a breath when it looked back down. It shifted through the veggies beneath the snow and ice, without a care in the world. Rasper sucked in a breath and nodded to her plan. It was a good idea. "I'll take left." He flicked an ear and slunk off. He rounded the herd and felt his heartbeat quicken. Rasper needed to ace this or else they'd have to get a smaller deer, most likely doe. He sat at his post waiting for them to strike.

Adira nodded, slinking around and taking the right side of the pack. The white she wolf felt the anticipation burn within her paws every step she took. She narroed her light brown eyes, watching the herd. The members seemed oblivious to the attack that was about to happen. She casted a glance toward Rasper's way to connect eyes with him to assure that he was ready.

With a heavy nod, he sprang and clamped his jaws on the buck's neck. It screeched and he dug his fangs into it's neck trying to silence its cries. He was hoping that Adira would hop in and maybe finish the kill.
