Lit got the sleep
---
That same voice from before haunted Parker for hours, and when he tried to sleep that night, it just got stronger. Staring at the wall with tired, grumpy eyes he groaned quietly and sat up, rubbing his temples. His sister, Harper, sat up as well and looked his way, clearly tired. "They voice is still there," he sighed, causing Harper to groan quietly and lay back down, staring at him. "I told you Parker, it's probably just an animal-..." An angry hiss from said twin interrupted her words. "It's not an animal, Harper!" He snapped, narrowing his eyes at the girl. She fell silent, not wanting to argue with him. "...I'm going to check it out..." he sighed after a few moments of angry silence, and kicking his legs over the side of his bed, he stood. Judging by the shuffling noises and soft thud from his sister's side of the room, she stood up as well. "Mother and Fathee told us not to leave after dark," she warned, but still continued to follow him anyway. He was wearing a pair of loose-fitting sweats and a tank top, while she wore a simple, white, and thin nightgown. It wasn't cold at night here, so they'd be fine.
---
Harper had heard the noise too, but wouldn't admit it to her brother. She still decided to follow him, though: out of worry and out of curiosity. She also wanted to find the source of the noise.
Walking through the jungle was hard enough, but without shoes it was a nightmare. She'd step on twigs, prickly vines, bushes, bugs...everything! Rubbing her sore feet between her hands, Harper hissed lowly and glanced up at Parker, who was still moving. Grunting, the girl reluctantly got up and followed him: the occasional hiss of pain would escape her lips along the way.
Then, they saw it. Well, them
Two statues stood tall among the trees: the plants around them were burnt to a crisp, so the vines didn't have a chance to crunch them. Staring at the statues with awe, Parker approached the horned one while she approached the one with a large, bony crest. Staring at it for a good few moments, Harper hesitantly reached up, her fingertips brushing up against its leg.
Then, suddenly, it grabbed her!
Before she could react, the stone beast bit down on her arm, and the girl fell unconscious. She didn't know this, but the same thing happened to her brother.
---
When she woke up, Harper felt different, somehow. A low, tired hiss escaped her lips as she stretched, lowering her head and sticking her rump up in the air. When she heard the satisflying pops of her spine, she stood back up with a sigh, shaking out her hair.
Her purple hair.
Harper froze, and slowly sat down on her haunches, raising her arms into view.
They were blue! She had paws!
Screaming out in alarm, the feline dragon reared up in alarm and fell backwards, writhing around on the ground. Her wings unfurled at beat frantically, and when the beast finally calmed her nerves, she flipped over and stood on shaky legs. What happened to her? She would've gotten up to investigate, but there were more important matters to tend to.
Parker was missing!
