Locustpaw was a complete menace and Batpaw starting loathing the other for it but it wasn't a deep burning hate like he felt it should have been just like a small pet peeve, the eight month old tomcat was resting in camp trying to imagine how most of the camp was like and well, it wasn't that difficult seeing as he had been there most of his life. Thus he had taken the time to touch the surfaces around camp occasionally pricking his paws due to the brambles and thorn bush entrance though despite bleeding, he was will to take the tiny amounts of pain to get acquainted with the territory that Shadowclan resided in. He took a deep breath licking his pawpads calmly only to shake himself a bit almost tripping in the process but catching himself just in time taking a shaky breath and standing upright with this sudden confident gleam in his eyes. He walked around the camp with a bit more ease than usual finding the entrance and it looked as if he was staring out to the rest of the territory, he began to feel just a bit of self doubt though he gradually shoved it down with a soft huff. He could do this!

Shadestorm still hadn't gotten used to being around so many other cats. The last week he'd been lurking in the backgrounds, observing and participating where he could. He knew the areas he excelled in, and so he didn't shy away from those. Fighting and hunting were easy. The other things he practiced when he was alone, mainly his scent identification. In the city you never had to be too specific. There were so many cats passing through at any one given time that you only ever bothered to identify the locals, and so he was used to things being vague; there was him, and there were other cats. There had never been a need to catagorize them. Now there was, though, and he was finding it hard to identify a long term Shadowclan resident from the newcomers and other clan cats that happened to come to join their clan or visit their borders.

That morning he hadn't gone out for any secretive training, though. No, it was just some good old fashioned hunting. The fresh kill pile had looked a little low, and with the nicer weather coming in he'd figured he'd might as well take advantage of it. And the hunting had been good. As he made his way through the entrance of camp it was with two large birds clutched tightly in his jaws. And it was partly because of this cargo -which was causing him to lift his chin unusually high to keep the wings from dragging- and partly because of the others abrupt appearence, that Shadestorm ended up walking right into Batpaw.

He grunted softly as he accidentally rammed into the other, dropping one of the birds from the impact before quickly stepping back to put some space in between them. His instinctive reaction was to scowl at the other, and he felt his deep blue eyes narrow as the beginning of one came on- but he caught himself, and instead let out a soft huff as he placed the other bird down next to the one he'd dropped.

"Shit, sorry, dude. You okay?" he'd ask, careful to keep his tone neutral. As always though there was that bored edge to it, an indifference that seemed to play in all the words he spoke. It gave him the impression of being a jerk even when he wasn't trying to be, a bad habit of his.

The apprentice was annoying and always found some sight-deprived cat to pick on, with the exception of himself. It was childish and weak but something about the air hanging a bit away from the apprentice interested him.

The senior warrior poked his head out of his den as he heard a solid bump. Instinctively, he ran up to cover for Batpaw. "Watch it, Shadestorm, you mousebrain," the russian hissed before turning to the blind apprentice. "You okay, Batpaw? Ill give him a nick if you want me to."

"You can try." he'd growl, and edge to his words as Losteye threatened to start something on behalf of the apprentice. It was only now, after the initial fuss, that the gray tomcat realized that someting was off with the younger feline he'd run into. Blindness? He'd never seen it before. Cats in the city didn't last long without their senses. There had been and old barn cat who'd lost the sight in one of his eyes during a fight with a dog, but he'd never met one that was completely sightless.

It didn't change things though, or so he though stubbornly. Just because the kid was blind didn't mean anyone who went near him deserved some sort of payback. "I already apologized to the kid, Losteye. Who stepped on your tail this morning?" he'd ask, the words unfriendly but inquisitive all the same. Something had to be on the others nerve, and if he was going to direct it at Shade then he had a right to know why. Unless every Shadowclanner was like this, jumping on the defense for nothing.
