    Magpieflight

    { I CAN FEEL MYSELF GETTING WEAKER }

    (I'm just kind of returning ... possibly maybe a handful of replies a week, and even then, short ones at most ... I've been really sick and stressed, so that's why I haven't been active.)

    He had originally returned from being stolen by twolegs, starved and abused. He had barely said anything to the Clan before going to rest. It took a couple of days, and he looked like he would improve. Then leafbare came. The tom, already extremely thin, refused to take more than a warrior's share, going hungry some days. It was not long before a strange fever took over his body, and he strayed into a sort of permanent comatose state for quite the long time. He would unconsciously eat the prey and water given to him, barely sustaining his body. He was sure nobody remembered him, since his activity in camp was none for so long.

    Now, he awoke from his eternal slumber, hungry and parched. His eyes blinked rapidly as light reached them, and unfamiliar feeling from being hidden behind eyelids. Magpieflight felt weak and aged, feeling that his muscle mass was nearly gone. I'm no better than a sick, pampered kittypet... he thought, barely able to twitch his tail at that thought. The warrior looked around for some cat as he attempted speech. "Wa...ter...'n...f...ood... please..." his voice was hoarse, just above a whisper, and just about as pitiful sounding as his appearance.

  • (I feel you though, I'm just returning too. This is the first I've posted on here in like...5 years....)

    Maude slipped through the broken fence of her backyard. She occasionally would spend time behind the fence, laying on rocks and taking walks. Nothing really interesting would happen on these walks and she even dabbled in hunting. She was always somewhat good at it. Her father was part of the clans, or so he said, and he would drop by sometimes. He taught her and her siblings how to hunt and so forth. She was always interested but her mother disapproved.

    The cream calico always eagerly strides through on her times of freedom. She catches in the scent of trees and overall life. Her pelt shining as light disperses through the tops of the trees, she shivered as a bit of chill creeps upon her. She made her way into a clearing and looked around carefully. She had never been so close to something like this before. She nosed around, smelling and breathing in the new scents. Ears peaked in interest, she crept around with eagerness. The she-cat's blue eyes glittered as she pawed at a leaf that was swirling high above. The wind blew hard, the leaf blowing far out of the way. She watched as it drifted farther away.

    She took a deep breath in and twitched her nose. It was something familiar, oddly enough it was less as strong but still powerful. She tracked the smell, her curiosity leading her on. She stayed still and kept quiet as she searched. "Wa....ter...'n...f...ood... please..." a squeak of a voice called out. Quickly, she scrambled forward but stopped to hide behind a tree. This was the second forest cat she had ever met, the first one being her father so this interaction didn't really count as much.

    "H-hello?" Maude stuttered and slide out of the shadows. She looked upon the poor tom cat, he was starving. He looked as if he could barely move at all. His body was sunken in and it actually terrified her. "Uh...wait there!" She panicked before pacing about for a second. "I'll help, I promise!" She flattened her ears and got to work. The tom didn't really say anything. All he did was watch. "i gotta hurry!" She panted, she wasn't used to running because there was nothing to run from. She focused on hunting first.

    She dropped to a crouch and stayed still. She tasted the air and made sure to be perfectly solid. She was very easy to spot so she had to work harder to catch prey. After some time, she noticed a small vole nibbling on a seed or something. She placed her paw down softly, this was the only time she actually concentrated. She sprang and the vole wasn't caught. It squeaked and sprinted off, but she wasn't done yet.

    She snatched the little creature by the tail and sank her teeth into it's neck. It crunched and went limp. Hurrying, she tracked her way back. Mouth full she stopped in front of the tom who looked even worse. She didn't even know it could have been possible. "Here!" She was triumphant. "All I need to do is find water," she murmured. She was so focused on helping this poor soul.

    Wasppaw of Skyclan

    Magpieflight wasn't the first cat - and mostly likely wouldn't be the last - to get taken by the two-legs. Though the clan had been shocked when the warrior returned from what Wasppaw could only imagine was a horrible experience, there was very little sympathy to be shared as everyone was far too drained and exhausted from the events that had recently transpired. Poor Magpieflight couldn't have chosen a worse time to return to the clan, what with so little herbs to spare and the sickness that was blossoming within the shadows.
    But that didn't mean he had been given up on.
    Wasppaw padded along the camp, his shoulders and paws weary and aching from the seemingly constant trips he had taken as of late, sweeping the territory for any remaining herbs - praying for even a bud. The weight on his back only grew heavier with every step of empty paws, and every follow-up pace of helplessness when checking in on the coughing, still-healing cats of his clan. Cuts that should have healed had become infected - cats that should be walking, hunting, protecting, where now coughing and frail. Warriors were becoming as scarce as plants, and so there was very little watch over the camp entrance and any weak spots around the camp, so it was no surprise when, on his way to check up on the almost comatose refugee, he stumbled upon an unfamiliar cream calico.
    Thankfully for Maude, Wasppaw quickly noted that she was trying to help and didn't shout out any alarm - even though she smelled heavily of two-leg place. "Ive got the water," he said, through the soaked moss in his jaws that he placed gently at Magpieflight's paws. The young medicine cat pressed his paw against the older warrior's forehead, noting the heat that still rose from it, even after the fever seemed to have broken.
    A burst of warmth akin to a sun breaking through clouds filled his chest. Magpieflight seemed to be recovering - the first good thing to happen in a while. "Your doing great Sir, your going to get better soon," it felt so good being able to say that without feeling like a liar. Nudging the water close to the tom's mouth, Wasppaw noted the vole the molly had obviously caught, before turning his attention back to her.

    Smiling kindly, he assessed the she-cat - a kitty-pet, by the smell of her - and tilted his head to the side, "Thank you for helping him..but may I ask who you are? And how you came into Skyclan's camp?"

    Magpieflight

    { I CAN FEEL MYSELF GETTING WEAKER }

    By the time the she-cat had actually shown herself to him, Magpieflight's vibrant green eyes had already closed again. His heart raced as he scented twolegs, his post-traumatic stress from the event leading him to faintly believe his captors and abusers came back to finish the job. Then he realized the footfalls and sounds were too small to be of the twolegged kind, and he realized shortly thereafter it was some cat that had decided to help him. The tom did nothing but gratefully await her return, opening his eyes and looking at her with an axpression of thanks. He twitched an ear at the presence of Wasppaw, and slowly and unsteadily pulled himself up into a sitting position. "Thank.. you.." he mumbled to both cats before lapping up the liquid from the moss, and then watching his pace as he ate the prey donated to him. He was no medicine cat - no where close, he barely knew what cobwebs were for - but he did know that it would lead to consquences if he just gorged himself. I'm sure my stomach has shrunk... even barely into the vole he was starting to feel full.

    He began to feel some strength flow into him, especially now that the fever was gone. He suspected he had missed quite a lot in his conscious absence, his concerns raising as he looked at his Clan-mate's exhausted look. The warrior knew better than to ask in front of what could possibly be a spy, and even if he wanted to voice his concerns out loud it would take a lot out of him. Magpieflight looked at the female. Why was she here? Who was she? Wasppaw asked the questions already, and so the older tom waited for the kittypet's reply. As they waited though, despite her non-wild look, just her non-feral scent was driving his brain crazy as he did his best to remain calm and not be edgy about the possibility of her owners coming to look for her, and maybe even take him back to that horrid place.

  • Maude's whiskers twitched as anxiety filled throughout her, she had never felt as out of place as now. The fluffed she-cat instantly knew the contrast between each other, they were skinny and most sick. They looked more wild and feral even, they were nice but struggling. She was fattened and lazy, never once in her life worrying about her next meal. It made her feel guilty and even a tad bit remorseful. Maude took her gaze from Magpieflight to Wasppaw. She had now realized why it was so quiet and why the scents were so jumbled and weak. Sickness was raining down upon these cats, but Maude had never truly experienced sickness. She was never fixed and she was given all her vaccines like a good pet should. Her lilac collar jingled as she licked her chest in embarrassment, Wasppaw and Magpieflight looked like serious tom-cats. However, Wasppaw was a lot kinder than what she imaged forest cats to be. "W-well, I'm Maude." She cleared her throat and dipped her head in greeting, "I just walked farther than I normally do, I go on walks a lot and I just happened to stumble here." She gazed around blearily. "I noticed he was sick and there isn't really a lot of others here...."she finished with a murmur.

    "Sorry for intruding!" She quickly apologized when realizing that this was definitely a trespassing issue. "I just didn't realize I suppose." She flattened her ears. "Well I do hope you get better." Maude quietly mewed as she fidgeted. "I stumble around a lot, I just get bored at home and things interest me-"she rambled as tried to explain herself, frustrated with herself she lashed her tail.

  • [center][fancypost=borderwidth=0px; width:400px;]An unfamiliar voice lured Audenine out into the open. The tom's large hulking frame leaped down from the windowsill of the cottage that made up the medicine den. If she thought Wasppaw was nice, Audenine would be another deal entirely. It seemed that apprentices didn't always take after their mentors - at least, Aud's personality hadn't rubbed off on the younger tom yet. His eyes narrowed in suspicion, he locked eyes with the leader's kin before letting his gaze, pointed like knives, sweep over the stranger.

    "Y' didn't realize?" Came his question, tail flicking. "So ya waltzed on past all th' scents, past th' camp walls and th' dens, right into th' middle of our camp... Without realizing?" Hah. He didn't buy that story for a second. The former kittypet wasn't quite sure what her reasoning for being there was, but he wasn't trusting enough to simply accept her story right off the bat. He knew better than to blindly trust the word of someone you barely knew. Fortunately for her, though, it wasn't his decision to kick her out or not. Not like he would be able to, really, what with his side wound still wrapped up. "Fer yer sake, ya better hope Tatteredstar believes ya."

  • "Well I supposed it was rather odd," Maude agreed, "however this....whatever-this-may-be's scent is very faint." She lashed her tail. Why were they so suspicious of her? That thought lingered in the back of her head. All she did was help a poor tom out. " And I'm never one to look around I suppose." She anxiously chuckled. She now had realized where exactly she was. Dens filled with cats (mainly battered ones) and even a great wall was built here and she didn't notice a thing. Stupid! Stupid, Maude! She chastised herself. How could you have possibly not seen that? She shuttered in anxiousness over the name Tatteredstar. She started to notice that each cat seemed to have a role or an idea perhaps? This Tatteredstar cat seemed to be the top dog here, Audenine was right, she was sure that whatever she dragged herself into it wasn't good. She couldn't just turn tail and run now, that'd be impossible to do. "I'm terribly sorry, I just don't really understand...."she quietly murmured.
