neither alcohol or catnip nor anything sinister makes an appearance in this story. really, it's just another case of history repeating itself.
on a rainy april day, while patrolling the sanctuary's territory, chicagocrimes happens upon two children— two kittens— completely abandoned. naturally, she's suspicious; who on earth would leave their children in the middle of nowhere? but the kittens don't smell like her enemies or the exiles, and she doesn't want more deaths on her paws, so she gives them names (temporary, she tells herself, it's just temporary) and takes them back to the sanctuary.
back in the sanctuary, chica considers it her duty to make sure the kids are doing okay. she's the one who found them, after all; they're her responsibility by default. she offers them food and shelter and an open ear whenever they need it. (but what happens when they don't anymore?) at first, she's reserved, but it isn't long before she finds herself forgetting her initial doubts about their origins. then she warms up to them. fast. (i'll have to take them back eventually. they probably miss their family.) before she knows it, she's taken them both under her wing entirely, doing her best to teach and protect them. though playing this role again is nerve-wracking, she's managing.

and that's when she realizes there never was a need for a "next." original intentions aside, she's become their mother and mentor (she's given them her surnames, for christ's sake), and she can't give that up again.

★ they must stay with chica until they're six months old. after that point, they can go anywhere, though chica will try to keep an eye on them regardless.
★ please stay active! if you're losing muse for your kit or can't keep roleplaying them for any reason, just PM me, and I can rehome them for you. otherwise, if you are inactive with your kit for a month with no explanation, they will be rehomed automatically.
