    WE'RE ALL MESSED UP INSIDE — dreamkit — serval — she/her — tags

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Strange, how Dreamkit had come to call some floating islands inhabited by a group of animals her home in just a matter of days. And yet here she was.
This place was more of a home to her than the place she was born ever had been. Even strangers were kind and respectful toward her here - something she'd been told she didn't deserve so often she'd come to believe it - but in only a few days her mindset had been changed so drastically. She smiled more than she ever had in her life. She would speak to others. She felt safe and protected.
Life with her mother had never been anything like this. Like a home.
Dreamkit sat at the top of the waterfall in the cloud forest, watching the waves pass by and tumble down through the thin clouds. The scene was too picturesque to not love. Such a beautiful scene looked like something come right out of a fantasy book. And here she sat, and could only pray to a God that may or may not exist that the Clan of welcoming animals in the clouds was not just a wistful dream.

  • [center][fancypost= width: 450px; text-align: justify;][size=11][font=timesnewroman]Sweetophelia would have been absolutely delighted to have known the full extent of Dreamkit's new affection for her home. The BlizzardClan leader had joined the clan early in her life, as an orphaned youth driven out of Westeros in the wake of their civil war. She had had no family left in the world, no prospects. But BlizzardClan had taken her in, given her home when no one else had much pity to spare. She loved the clan then, and she loved it just as much now. Sweetophelia was even more grateful to have gotten as far as she did; she was determined to repay back her clanmates by leading them well, protecting them from enemies and empowering them beyond all other clans. She had faith it could be done.

Seeing Dreamkit, a smile crossed her features. "Hey there," she called out, her voice gentle so as to not startle the serval. "Enjoying the view?"

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Dreamkit turned to face the leader, smile broadening. Sweetophelia certainly seemed like a lovely person, and from what Dream had seen a good, kind leader. "It's amazing," she breathed, eyes sparkling. "Has anyone ever figured out how it is the islands float?" It was such a nonsensical thing that Dreamkit had the urge to search for the meaning behind it. With her newfound freedom inside the Clan, the child was allowing herself to wonder; her mind was constantly asking how and why, and actively searching for answers.

  • [center][fancypost= width: 450px; text-align: justify;][size=11][font=timesnewroman]Sweetophelia's smile broadened, pleased by the serval kit's awe for the floating islands. Proud as she was, she was always glad when other animals appreciated BlizzardClan's natural beauty as much as she did. "No, not yet," the BlizzardClan leader admitted, shaking her head in quiet amusement. "They were there since before I came to BlizzardClan, likely before I was even born. As I recalled, they just appeared above the old territory one day and they've stayed ever since."

How had the old members of BlizzardClan felt when the five islands suddenly appeared above their heads? Seemingly out of nowhere? With wooden bridges to connect them and a stone staircase to lead the way to the sky already intact? It surely must have been exciting times; she was sorry she missed it. "Perhaps one day you'll be the one to discover where they came from," Sweetophelia added, smiling still. "Would that be something that you might like? Or would you prefer to become a Medic Trainee one day?" They were exclusive things to pursue, but Sweetophelia was simply curious. She had seen Dreamkit attending the CPR session Iselotta had held, and assumed that the child had an active interest in joining the Medic team one day.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Discovering how the islands appeared? Just the idea excited Dreamkit. All kinds of possibilities ran through her mind. Exploring was one thing, but finding reason in the implausible was an entire other. And then there was medicine. The child loved the idea of being able to heal those around her, and give aid to her Clanmates. "I'd like to train in medicine," she said, gazing down at the clouds (huh, how funny to stare down at them when usually they were so far above her head) "but I also want to travel. Perhaps when I'm older, though, or when I've done all I can for the Clan."

  • [center][fancypost= width: 450px; text-align: justify;][size=11][font=timesnewroman]"I thought so," Sweetophelia smiled softly, her pale lilac eyes blinking. A number of other young BlizzardClanners had demonstrated such a similar interest, and the BlizzardClan leader was aware that Iselotta was slowly getting to know each of the candidates better. The Head Medic's decision would not be rushed, but eventually one day Sweetophelia would call her down to her den so that they would discuss her final decision. The choice in who stood in the Medic team was a very important one after all, especially because medics were put in charge of managing the clan's well-being and health - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

"You could do that too," she agreed. "When I was younger, I had wanted so dearly to travel. After I left BlizzardClan and BloodClan, I did do a little travelling, but I mainly kept away from the clans." That had been too lonely. "Are there any particular places that you would like to see in person one day, Dreamkit?"
