  • "You sure have a large space. But it is just you though right? Do you ever get lonely here?" Her apartment was like five times smaller than his, and even as enclosed as it was, it felt huge.

Sometimes she sat in the closet to feel better.

Ava got curious as to what he was looking at and walked over. She looked at the game board and tilted her head to the side. Her hair was pulled back - she rarely let it down - and so it didn't fall in her face.

"What is this? Your big plan?" She was not sure what it was honestly but she could take a guess.

Being friends with Izaya was something she was sure no one could say, not truly. They could say they knew him or did business with him, but Izaya did not really have friends who could trust him. But she did.

She trusted him with her life.

And she knew she was going to tell Shizuo tomorrow about her uncle. She would have to try to not cry when she did, and hope Shizuo did not get as upset as she was assuming he would.

  • Izaya glanced over to her.

"In a way, yes... It is. Each piece represents something to me. Only me really." He said and picked up a piece, soon moving it to a new location. Meaning something happened recently.

    "And It is.." He began.

"It is just me. However, I have a few people visiting every now an then because of certain....... Circumstances." He commented as he glanced over to her.

"Not that I don't mind it. Being alone can feel just the same as not being alone. Both either have a comforting presence. Or..... A daunting one.

However, the silence. It helps me think. And the loneliness, just reminds me of the distance I hold between humanity and my comfort. It isn't all that bad really." He added before walking over to one of the couches before sitting down.

  • Ava looked at the board. She did not understand who was represented by what, but she understood the concept of it. And she wondered if she was on the board, and where she was placed at. Would she be on his board of plans? Where would she be if she was?

The brunette glanced over to Izaya and then looked back down at the board.

"Izaya-kun, I don't understand your life at times. I understand you, how you think, but only parts of you. You are really mysterious." She admitted softly. Ava moved to the bookshelf again and looked over some of the books. "As an info broker, you tend to ruin lives with the information you sell and all. But you are not a bad person."

There was a lot of information he had. He knew what was going on everywhere in Ikebukuro. Secrets that people did not want brought to the light of day, he knew. People who had a bad past, he knew it.

But it did not make him a bad person.

"I don't know why you would distance yourself so completely." She said, glancing over her shoulder at him. Strands from her messy bun fell down a bit with the movement. "I mean I do, because some people suck. But everyone has a dark side and a light side. It balances us out. We just have to deal with it and accept them regardless of what they have done."

  • "I love humans because of the sides they either hide or show to others. However.. By keeping out of sight and keeping my distance, it is better to be the catalyst and step to the side and watch the reaction happen myself. Without necessarily being that one there in the first place. I don't ruin people's lives. They cause it themselves with what I have to offer as an info-broker. They should know what they had signed up for. They should at least expect what to do if it shoots back at them in the face." He went.

"However... I usually am out and about, constantly talking to others and doing what I do for a living. Although to be alone after a day full of interacting and experiencing the after-effects of human decisions... I prefer the piece and quiet. Time to think over everything I had originally planned or, what is yet to come for planning." The man finished off as he looked over at her from where he sat.

"Although, That isn't my only reason for distancing myself."

  • Ava looked up from the game board and blinked. This was one of the moments that he was not making sense. She loved to be arouns him, and while she did enjoy being alone at times, she still felt lonely. Horses helped ease some of that lonliness, which was why she spent so much time working with them when she had the chance. But Izaya was a different person and he thought different things.

"I see what you mean." She could understand what he was saying about the spaciousness of his apartment. When they were in her small apartment she felt at home. She felt close to him.

Here, in his apartment, Ava felt like he had left all over again.

Her eyes slid to the clock and she sighed a little. "I should get home, Izaya-kun." She admitted. "I still have some homework to do. Plus I need to figure out how to explain my uncle to Shizu-kun without angering him."

// would you like to timeskip to when she tells Shizuo? AND maybe thay is how she gets on international TV?

  • //Yeah! Maybe Shizuo could see Izaya and maybe during the battle, and then Celty joined in as she saw them and split them, with Ava in clear view??

Izaya glanced at her and stood.

"I understand. I'll walk with you back. I have a few places to visit this evening anyway nearby." He smiled.

And as they returned to her apartment, Izaya gave a small wave.

"Have a good evening Kay-chan!" He said since there could have been people around. Of course he was wary.

He turned before putting his hands in his pockets and walking away from where she was dropped off at the entrance, the wind blowing through his ebony hair as he too, disappeared amongst the large and complicated streets of Ikebukuro he knew like the back of his hand.

  • //sure! X3

Shizuo Hewajima was wandering the streets yet again since he didn't have anything to do apart form work later. He was hoping to see Kay-chan soon after all, he had heard Izaya had been back in town for a while.

He didn't want him trying anything of course.

    ---------------------

Meanwhile, Izaya was elsewhere, nearby, but out of sight- which mattered.

  • Kay spotted Shizuo and grinned. She needed to tell him about her uncle. Honestly, she had been dreading it all day but she needed to tell him anyways. "Shizu-kun!" She called out, shifting into a sprint.

Trying to explain to Shizuo that her own uncle was trying to kill her would be a nightmare.

"Shizu-kun, I have been looking everywhere for you!" She even got over her shyness a few times to ask people if they had seen him. And since Izaya was not making himself seen by the blond, she had not been able to find him based on the shouting of curses.

It was a bit of a downer, honestly.

  • "Oh, Kay-chan. I was wondering where the hell you were.." Shizuo said, rubbing the back of his neck for a moment before placing his hands back into his pockets.

"What's up?" He asked, clearly seeing she was wanting him for a reason.

  • Kay took a deep breath. "I know that you think Izaya-kun is using me for information. And I know you two are never going to be friends or tolerate each other for more than that period of time in my apartment." he was not entirely sure where to begin, but she was going to try. "But I know he is not and I need to tell you everything..."

"My name is not Kay. My real name is Ava Lucy Young. I moved here from America under an alias because my uncle got out of prison and is trying to find me to kill me, because he killed my father and I am the only witness he has. If I die, he cannot ever be punished. But he is super dangerous."

The brunette trembled a little, body shaking and tears forming. It was not easy to tell her friend these things. "Once he caught me, and tortured me. I... I haven't told Izaya-kun that but I think he knows... But Izaya-kun found out, and he used that information to send my Uncle on a wild goose chase, so he can't find me." She was shaking and pale by now.

//OMFG WHAT IF SHIZUO THINKS IZAYA BROUGHT THE UNCLE THERE BC HE DOES NOT TJINK OF THE VIDEO AS THE REASON

  • //OMG YESSSSSS AND MAYBE THEN HE COULD SAY A BUNCH OF STUFF AND EVENTUALLY IT AFFECTS IZAYA AND HURTS HIM AND THAT CAN FUEL HIM TO STOP THE UNCLE! ;-;

Shizuo's gaze hardened. "Woah, woah...... This is sudden. You gotta give me a little time first, honestly..." He murmured as he rubbed the back of his neck, glancing to the side.

    Then he realised.

"Wait, you were lying to me the whole time? And not even telling me that you were in danger anyway in the first place?! And that you trusted that FLEA to help you?! What if he ends up LEADING HIM HERE?!"

  • // YESS AND LIKE AVA IS LIKE WTF DO I DO LIKE MY UNCLE IS HERE TRYING TO KILL ME AND SHIZUO IS LIVID AND AAHH

Being that she had rambled on about the situation they were in, she was a little surprised that Shizuo even kept up with her. However she flinched a little at his yelling at her.

"I do trust Izaya-kun." She nodded her head. "Shizu-kun he saved me twice. Why would he do that for me? He already knows my real name, so he can find out basically any information that he wants and yet he still went out of town to stop my uncle."

Shizuo was likely never going to understand, but she smiled. "But it is okay, Shizu-kun." She hadn't meant to lie to him, but it was a secret. "I didn't want to lie to you, Shizu-kun, but no one was suppose to know. I just wanted to tell you because Izaya-kun knows, and he hs helped me. He won't bring my uncle here. He would never hurt me."

  • //YESSSSSSSS

"And how do you know if that is a f*cking lie?! He has tricked women before! Those who were desperate and not so desperate! He messes with them and f*cking ruins lives!!!! How can you trust him? Oh wait... Because he has tricked you too. You haven't seen him in his true ways have you?" He growled.

    "What true ways...... Shizu-chan?"

The blond turned as he glared at Izaya.

"How you are only trying to trick her and put her in danger like you have done with everyone else!!!!!!!! You were never capable of emotions with humans! You said that yourself you f*cking flea!" He said, grabbing a sign post and pulling it out of the ground easily.

"You got it wrong Shizu-chan.... Why don't you-" Izaya said with a gentle smile when suddenly he noticed Shizuo lift the sign and interrupt.

"Why don't I pummel you to the GROUND before you try anything else! You know where that man is and I damn well sure YOU are going to bring him back just when she feels SAFE.

I won't let you do that YOU MOTHERF*CKING FLEABAG!!!!" He yelled, suddenly coming at him to attack. Izaya remembered Ava's words. How she would get included.

He felt an urge to not let that happen.

As he dodged every move Shizuo made at him in hope to kill him, he was texting Celty behind his back, basically needing back-up. He hated to ask for help but.... Things were different now.

    "IZAAAAAAYYAAAAAAA!"

    "Oops! Nearly hit me then."

"STAY STILL SO I CAN KILL YOU!"

"No-Can! Do!!!!" Izaya said between leaping to the sides and dodging with ease.

  • Ava trembled at Shizuo's harsh words. She bit her lip and flinched. Izaya hadn't tricked her. The only reason why Shizuo was saying that was because he didn't understand. He was worried about her like an overprotective father whose daughter was dating the bad boy of the school.

    But Izaya was good.

She didn't want either of them to get hurt. She wanted everyone to just calm down. Meaning Shizuo.

"Shizu-kun stop! Please!" She headed towards the blond who was in his rage. "Izaya-kun is not going to hurt me, I promise!" She trusted Izaya. And maybe in his eyes it was misplaced trust.... But her instincts were alwayd right. Especially because Izaya had not laughed or called her silly for loving him. "Shizu-kun, I told you so thay you would know! If I would have known you would do this I wouldn't of ever told you!"

    He was scaring her.

Shizuo just did not see Izaya as anything other than what Izaya wanted him to see. But she had looked past that, seeing him for what he truly was. "Do you really think that I wasn't scared he would hurt me knowing what he does to people? But he has helped me. He didn't laugh at me when I cried in his chest and I love him."

    This was a mess.

    A total mess.

  • Shizuo paused, turning to Ava.

"You....... Love this f*cking jerk?" He said, he growled deeper and turned to Izaya. "You really have her in your web don't you you F*CKING MORON!!!" Shizuo yelled raising his sign post to hit Izaya as he was still.

"Oh cr*p..." Izaya said gently but then.

    *HORSE SOUNDS*

    *SLAM! CLATTER CLATTER*

"Celty?!" Shizuo yelled as Celty got in the middle with her scythe out, and her horse in full form behind her, it's dark aura and shadow emitting yet remaining at the same time. Dark matter.

"Shizuo stop." The message she held said before she put it away.

"I won't let him LIVE!" He yelled, but Celty kept him at bay from Izaya, glancing at Ava for a moment before looking back at him.

Shizuo glared at her with anger. "You're HELPING HIM?" He yelled.

    "Shizuo-" Ahinra said, jogging over.

"Look. You're scaring her." He stated, pointing at Ava.

Izaya noticed and his eyes widened suddenly before Shizuo noticed, he glanced away.

    "A-"

"OH MY GOODNESS I GOT THAT ON VIDEO!"

    *Chatter chatter...*

  • Ava bit her lip. Of course all she did was make matters worse. Shizuo and Izaya could never get along, and Shizuo was trying to protect her from Izaya even though he did not need to. It was unnecesary.

    Izaya wouldn't hurt her.

She knew that Shizuo did not understand it, and that he was very narrow minded when it came to Izaya. Trembling, she slowly stepped towards Izaya before she actually ran to him, her hair falling out of the messy bun she had been wearing it in.

Hair flowing behind her, Ava reached for Izaya, trembling. While she trusted Shizuo to not hurt her usually, he seemed mad at her. And it reminded her of her uncle and scared her.

Trying not to let the tears fall, Ava forced a weak smile to Celty.

"Shizu-kun... I am not naive. And I am not stupid... I am not brainwashed or tricked." Her green eyes were lighter in color than usual, which usually happened when she was crying or teary eyed. "But please stop yelling..." Her voice was soft, broken. She looked at Izaya for help. Even though she had not told him that she had been captured and abused by her uncle, Izaya was smart and she assumed he had figured it out.

After all, she did not ever wear revealing clothing and often she got nervous if the wind started ruffling her skirt. Her upper thighs had scars on them that ran up her hips and her lower abdomen.

  • Izaya noticed Ava run over to him and held his arms out, bringing her closer as she came over, suddenly glaring up at Shizuo in a way the blond didn't recognise.

"Yes.... I think you better be bl**dy quiet for once." He snapped.

Shizuo glared at the two of them.

"Kay- I mean, Ava.. Get away-"

"Shizu-chan. How blind are you...? Can't you tell she wants you to stop? I would recommend you do before I get really serious." He said.

    "Izaya........ Showing anger?" Shizuo murmured.

    Izaya only glared.

"What the f*ck...... Had happened." He said in shock.

    Izaya sighed.

"Ava happened. That's all." He replied.

"No chan? Or anything?" Shizuo said in a shaking tone.

"None of your business is it.. Shizu-chan...?"

His gaze snapped towards the people before he suddenly turned Ava away from the crowd's cameras.

"We must go now Ava... I don't want any more videos or photos showing your face. It will end bad." He said to her.

  • The quivering brunette clutched onto Izaya, not looking up from where she buried her face in his chest, missing the entire exchange of glares between Izaya and Shizuo. However she did hear them.

Once she calmed down, she would have to apologize to Shizuo. But she thought he would understand. She thought that telling him would make him SEE but it did not work. He only seemed to hate Izaya more.

    Which hurt.

Ava knew that they wouldn't get along, but she thought Shizuo would be more understanding of her situation. Body shaking, she slowly looked up at Izaya when he spoke to her. Eyes watery, the small brunette nodded slowly before she glanced over to Shizuo.

"G-Gomen, Shizu-kun..." Her voice cracked, and she had to take a deep breath to not cry. His anger was scaring her at the moment, a fear so real that she was starting to see her uncle where Shizuo stood rather than her tempermental blond friend.

Looking back to Izaya, Ava squeezed onto him a bit tighter, not wanting to let go. "Izaya... he is gonna find me..." the fear in her voice was more real than Shizuo's shock at Izaya's anger.

  • Izaya glanced down at Ava, holding her gently as she clutched him tighter. He could tell she was scared.

And she didn't want her to be.

"Let's go. We should be heading off for now. After all, these humans here don't understand the meaning of respect anymore." He stated.

"Including the monster." He said in a lower tone to Shizuo before he walked with her down the streets quickly.

"I believe it would be wise to stay at my apartment Ava. I have a spare room anyway~" He said, trying to sound positive for her at least.

"I even got food recently. That was something I actually remembered to do recently." He chuckled as she soon arrived at the apartment no one knew of before entering.

But as the door shut behind him once she was let inside, Izaya hugged her gently once again afterwards.

"What you said... To Shizu-chan. It made me want to smile so badly." He said softly. "But that would have only made him mad.." He added gently as his hand placed itself on the back of her head with care.

"I won't let your uncle reach you Ava... It isn't only your desire to keep him away. But it is mine also."
