  • Manolo
Manolo nodded fondly."Brazil sounds good for you." He wanted to add more on to his sentence but the fact that the teacher was impatiently moving around made him silence himself. Those same movements were like his father's when he was drunk and god forbid that he wanted to deal with that ever again. He turned to the girl and back, motioning that he was still listening.

    Miguel
"I enjoy your enthusiasm. You have gorgeous eyes." Miguel wasn't exactly used to positivity, hunters weren't usually positive or kind people. Most were pretty mean, at least until they felt secure enough. Miguel glanced up at Manolo chatting with the girl, who he didn't know, and smiled. Aw, Manolo had a friend.

    Bella
Bella just picked the stack so up and passed out everything to everyone, ignoring any and every look that may come her way. She spoke loudly as well."Alright, the journals are to hold information of what I teach. I'll try to get cameras so you can take pictures of monsters and add them to the journal. You may think you know everything.." Bella paused for two second then continued "You don't. Your kids. Once you turn 25 or older, you can prove me wrong." She said roughly.

  • Jay Beagle - 17 - Male - Army Recruit
Jay glanced at the journal expectantly, flipping through the empty pages. He set it down silently, and began examining his classmates.

    Grey Daedra - 15 - Female - Dark Magus
Grey had rushed in just before the bell, sitting in the middle of the room. She raised her hand and, without waiting, asked, "teacher, when do we get to go kill something?"

  • Naomi Romello--16--Female

“We’d probably all get to fighting a lot sooner if you didn’t interject with useless questions.” Naomi Romello's clipped words snapped into existence immediately after Grey had arrived and spoken, chocolate orbs giving an irritated roll at her inquiry when they focused on her. The girl’s legs crossed as she sent a lifted eyebrow over her shoulder at the cheerful Ms. Daedra. Short fingernails dug into her crossed arms before she suddenly whipped back around without waiting for a reply, focusing her attention wordlessly back on Bella. At PIBI, speaking out of turn even once usually meant 5 laps around the facility with 100 push ups between each rep. Clearly she was surrounded by amatuers. An agitated storm had broken through this rude Italian’s strained veil of indifference, the newest victim of her ill-temper obviously being Grey.

    Asher Phillips--17--Male

“Yes Ma'am, thank you Ma'am!” His voice gave an embarrassing crack. Asher bit back a relieved exhale as Blitzer left, shoulders finally relaxing. Alright then, he’d been worried for nothing. Lately it seemed he was doomed to exist in a state of constant worry--A disheveled wreck. It might have something to do with the fact that he’d been recently thrust into a kill school, and not by his own consent. He raked a hand through messy mahogany locks then glanced back at Raina. Right. His name. At Least he knew that one. “Asher,” Said 17 year old’s seafoam hues made eye contact, hands reaching up absentmindedly in a vain attempt to straighten his crumpled tie. “Asher Phillips. It sure is a pleasure to meet you Ma’am....Wish it was under different circumstances.” Asher roughly quoted the introduction she’d so eloquently delivered to the headmaster with earlier, a crooked grin accompanying his teasing introduction. He paused to shuffle his weight--seeming as though he wanted to say something more. Asher opened his mouth but was immediately cut off, gaze flying towards the new voice. He looked around absently for a moment, the tall, gangly oaf only sighting Henry West as soon as he decided to look down. There stood a man--presumably the doctor--clearly agitated and a bit on the young looking side of the spectrum. His fingers fluttered up to brush the nasty welt upon this doctor’s inquiry. He discovered a pulsating heat was radiating off the concussion source now. “My sister--” Asher had begun to answer then immediately slammed his mouth shut, stammering to an alarmed stop. “I mean, well you see Sir, my Sisterly Friend sort of….. Well, She just kind of shoved me right into a table! I’m incredibly clumsy --fell right on my face!” Asher’s babbled attempt at a cover-up ran smooth as a sheet of sandpaper. He shoved his hands in his pockets, nodding convincingly at Henry. The hopeless boy glanced at Raina, desperate to avert any of Man’s potential suspicions. “Alright then, Walsh! See you in class!” He offered a strained smile and stiff wave.

  • Raina took the slip from the headmaster and outright bowed to her as she walked away. "Thank you, ma'am. I look forward to the education you've offered me here."
Stuffing the paper into her pocket as she straightened up, she gave Asher another rueful look. She, too, opened her mouth to fill the silence, but when Dr. West entered, she was thoroughly motivated to leave the two of them alone. "Y-yeah," she mumbled, retreating as she glanced at West nervously. Before she turned to run away, however, she returned Asher's smile and gave him a more lively wave. "See you around!"
She mulled over his hurried explanation to the doctor as she fled towards her research class. 'My sister,' huh? Who in the hell was that lady, and what beef does she have with this dope? That thinking was a bit harsh; Asher was merely a fish out of water, and like a fish out of water, it was obvious that he was inclined to suffocate pretty fast.
Not-too-subtly, she pushed the classroom door open and pulled the note out of her pocket, pressing it onto Ms. Jones's desk just as she finished her mantra. "Forgive me...medical emergency," she mumbled, panting slightly as she claimed an empty chair.

  • Silaluk opened her mouth to reply to Manolo until the teacher began speaking. She listened respectfully, knowing it would be frowned upon to interrupt the teacher while she was speaking. She glanced up as Grey spoke, a bit annoyed, but said nothing. She wasn't the kind of person to want to start fights, especially not in a school environment like this. She pushed strands of black hair that were beginning to fall out of her braid out of her face, and took one of the journals, quickly flipping through the pages. Just a blank journal, but still useful.

Lee grinned at Miguel. "And you have--" then, they realized the teacher was talking, and their attention was quickly averted. They were bad at paying attention in class, but here they should probably at least try, because it might mean like, life or death. Algebra was not something that meant "life or death". Algebra was boring and no one liked it. Algebra was a loser who got shoved into lockers because they were no fun. Oh, they weren't paying attention in class. Oops. This is what they were thinking about. They inspected their journal with curiosity.

Henry raised his eyebrows at Asher, and crossed his arms. He wasn't sure if he was trying to be sarcastic or desperately covering up whatever happened that caused him to get injured. Either way, he didn't really care. He went to grab a couple of tools from behind his desk. "So, what symptoms do you have? Dizziness, lightheadedness, obviously pain, nausea..." He grabbed a light used to inspect eyes. "Oh, have you lost consciousness at all, even for just a second? I'm assuming you didn't have any seizures, considering you walked in here and there wasn't any sort of fussing or panicking..." He turned the small light on and looked into his eyes, checking to see if the pupils were more dilated than they should be, or were different sizes.

Jay sighed, shaking his head. Girls. Such a weird species.

    Grey Daedra - 15 - Female - Dark Magus
Grey's eyes were like slits. Her face was frowning, and she glared into Naomi's back. "You wanna talk about useless, I see a pretty useless face in the front row," she said, standing and putting a foot on the desk, right hand outstretched as black fire engulfed it harmlessly. She crouched, ready to pounce on the Italian.

(Grey reacts differently than Jay. Hehehe.)

  • Manolo
Manolo grimaced at the sudden commotion between the females, did they have to start insulting each other in class? Couldn't they wait for the end of class? Manolo muttered a simple phrase under his breathe, something most Latin Americans have heard from their mother, aunt, or other female adult at some point or another.'Te calmas o te calmo' Very silently, very unnoticeable.

    Miguel
The silver haired Mexican male let his face droop down to a look of confusion. He glanced up at Bella, who was almost fuming but had a smile. Miguel felt almost unnerved by that smile, he knew that smile all to well. His mama gave him that smile. Someone was gonna get whooped or the American version, yelled at. Miguel, by instinct, took Lee's arm and got ready to sprint. When his mama got mad, all hell was raised and he'd often have to run with his two sisters, one on clinging to his back and one with her arms wrapped around his front, and two little brothers on each hand. It wasn't his moms fault though, he and his younger siblings did cause chaos. But you mess with the Bulls, you get the horns, right?

    Bella
Bella tapped her fingers on the desk."No question is to stupid when it's educational, young lady. And you-" she pointed to Grey "Insults are to be said when outside of class. Just in those few seconds of insults you've wasted class time, I'm wasting class time addressing the issue. In that exact time used here while hunting, you would have been dead. Here's a situation I can use for education." Bella spoke, keeping her cool as best as possible, making her way to the front of the class."In the hunting world, sometimes you'll have to work with people you don't like, don't let your dislike or hatred show. It will kill you. You won't agree with anything, you'll start arguing, then you'll end up dead because your not paying attention to the real problem." Bella said, best improvise a new lesson that's relevant at the moment."Has anyone here heard of James? He was an amazing and skilled hunter but was known to be trouble when working with others. Do you know how his life ended? He refused to listen to his temporary teammates warnings and advice, ended up getting slaughtered by a pack of northern werewolves. You saw the sticker outside of my room, the life size one. Imagine getting attacked by 10+ of those while alone, all because you wouldn't listen or try to get along." Who knew good old dead James O'del would come in handy for her lesson.

    Grey Daedra - 15 - Female - Dark Magus
Grey extinguished the dark fire, and sat down and crossed her arms, albeit somewhat hesitantly. She listened to the teacher, but her eyes were on the back of Naomi's head. "James O'Del?" Grey asked, name registering with the stories her mother often told her. Her attention was drawn away fron the older girl, and to the teacher instead. "Mother said that he was an Irish idiot who would waste air if he could, and that he deserved to die by the Blue Blood Pack. If he was a Daedra, he might have actually had enough smarts to live."

  • The unpacking of Raina's bag served as the perfect time for her to let her eyes scan over the entire class, drinking in each individual that jumped out at her for more than a second.
First, the teacher. Bella Jones was less physically intimidating than Raina expected; the teacher's general stature reminded her of her mother. Her words and the cadence of her voice, however, put one word in her mind: uptight. Undoubtedly, being a teacher, she was willing to support the students in their desire to learn, but Raina suspected that the method of class would be 'her way or the highway.' Not that Raina expected much else; they were studying monsters, not learning to fight.
Then there were the students, specifically, some of the ones closest to her. Grey - though Raina didn't yet know her name - speaking out of turn and harping about some poor fool who got what was coming to him. Sure, this James O'Del guy sounded like a stupid sap, but it was Raina's personal opinion that nobody really deserved to be torn apart by werewolves. Threatening the student in front of her with some kind of dark magic as well? Definitely a red flag. Maybe you should have looked around before you sat down, eh, old girl?
Only after this thought did Raina realize who she'd been threatening; she recognized that profile, that loathsome, haughty poise, even from the unfamiliar angle: Saint Naomi Romello, too holy for this school and its heathen ways. Much as she had taken an immediate, silent disliking to the stranger sitting next to her, if a fight broke out between her and Naomi, Raina knew which side she would pick.
As she dropped her notebook in front of her, pulling out a pencil and scribbling the date and subject at the top of the page, the realization closed on Raina that she was stuck in this class next to what seemed like the two most volatile, hate-filled students in the school. "Son of a b#tch," she mumbled under her breath, awaiting the teacher's lecture that would take her away from this potentially dangerous situation.

  • (While I am agreeing with you on Naomi, Grey isn't exactly filed with hate. She's prideful, passionate, and can get very defensive, but I would not call her spiteful or hating. Huh. Now that I see it, Naomi and Grey are very similar. Both come from very powerful and well-known Hunter Families, carry significant power, are known to get defensive, just that Naomi uses wit more, and has a smug personality, while Grey prefers to use threats of violence or Dark magic to get what she wants, and has a tomboy like personality, and is more impulsive.)

    In short:
    Naomi: Volatile, no, hate-filled, yes.
    Grey: Volatile, Yes, hate-filled, No.

  • // ey i follow you mate, raina's just kind of the type to make judgments in the interest of her own self-preservation. her limited exposure to both of them has given her the 'deadly and mean' vibes, which, at least from my experience, is an easy vibe to get from people on the first day of school.
// don't worry i don't necessarily think grey (or naomi for that matter) is bottom-line rotten, not even close.

  • Oc--Naw I get you Number, Naomi is probably going to say (Has already said xD) A lot of things about everyone's characters that I myself don't actually agree with. S'just a matter of writing in the way that they would think.

    It's a cool speculation but I don't think Naomi is hateful, or full of hate by any stretch..... She's just extremely condescending, and uncaring towards others as individuals....OH! and lonely. I love having all these character disputes and differing views in the beginning--it's interesting to see how views and opinions change. I'm particularly excited to see Jay knock Naomi right the h*ll off her pedestal at some point too c;

    Ic--

    Naomi Romello--16--Female

Naomi hadn’t turned around at Grey’s comeback--body language indicating zero signs she’d even heard her fellow student. The girl sat straight and motionless, ignoring outside thoughts or words. She stared straight at Bella, head tipping in interest as the teacher unleashed a stern reprimand. This odd half-smile crossed her lips. So that was the sort of teacher Mrs. Jones was going to be…..Really, it was quite possible Naomi flipped an insult back at Daedra for the sole reason of observing how this teacher might react to a classroom disturbance. As soon as the more in-depth lecture about the wonderful 'magic of friendship' and 'working together' began, Naomi let her eyes travel down to her blazer-sheathed left arm, reminiscing the day she’d received each individual brand. James O’dell was a hunter. He was human. Romello’s frame gave a subtle flinch. She doubted he’d tear his comrades apart against his will with tooth and horn if involuntarily provoked. The half-demon raised her eyes, gaze wandering up to fix briefly across Bella’s face as she finished speaking. The woman’s word carried sense, but Naomi didn’t necessarily agree with everything spoken. Just because a team was cohesive and friendly did not guarantee victory. She blew out a soft puff of air. Romello had never particularly needed a team.

    Asher Phillips--17--Male

Asher stared up into West’s light, knowing full well his pupils wouldn’t dilate; A common concussion symptom. The effects of the concussion would gnarl his psychical body--Evangeline just felt them. He blinked away the dancing blots in his vision produced by the bright light, mulling over the doctor’s question. In truth, Phillips was trying to rake through every bit of concussion knowledge he had. What was he supposed to be feeling? “I remember falling, think I passed out when I hit the ground…..That girl woke me up.” He jabbed a thumb towards the direction Raina had disappeared too then felt the sickly bruise again. Heat. “As for pain, well, My head hurts like h*ll.”

  • Bella
"No hunter deserves death, and my point is that if there isn't agreement, there isn't advancement. At least in the hunting world." Bella approached her board, a slight smirk on her face. Participation from everyone was needed now."In order of Experienced to new hunters, what mistakes did James make, this can include his mindset or his actions. There are so many so each of you should be able to point out at least three. " Bella pointed out to the students eagerly. Now this was something that would get them to think and admit, she was to cheerful about the topic but the only thing that revealed that was the smile, the rest of her still seemed tense and ready for attacks. The African-American Researcher glanced back."For everyone example given, I will lessen bookwork, which I will give out.Go." Bella spoke once more, with that motivating them, she hoped they would speak quickly. James was her favorite topic to talk about, he was a very talented hunter, physically, emotionally, and mentally capable but his personality and lack of knowledge was his eventual doom. A truly great topic to talk about since it says that pure talent is useless without a good mindset and knowledge.

  • Jay Beagle - 17 - Male - Army Recruit
Like a Ranger Squad, nobody is more important than another. Everybody works for a common cause. Jay thought to himself, script ching down notes. None of them were on the teacher's sayings, but instead on his classmates, their mannerisms, attitudes, which ones he would prefer in a team. The girl who spoke out of turn seems to have a problem with authority, and hates to lose debates, even considering she was wrong. Ineffective, sure to question leadership, unless it's her leading. Naomi Romello, on the other hand, is quiet, sure to follow orders, as long as they're from someone she respects. But her sharp tongue and natural contempt would create friction with almost anyone else. Most likely to question teamwork, considering her snappy attitude and almost instant rebuttal.

    Grey Daedra - 15 - Female - Dark Magus
Grey, naturally, disagreed. "But what if you're all alone? Many Hunters of the Daedra family have been known to work single-handedly to kill entire Vampire flocks!" Her long black braided hair bounced as she stood, hands waving, nearly hitting Raina. "Not to question teamwork, but what if there's no team to work with?"

Dr. Drew Evans - 26 - Male - Tech Teacher and Cyborg
There came a knock on Henry's door as Drew came to talk, using the offer he had been invited to take earlier in the morning. "Henry, I wanted to tal-" he said as he walked in, eyes landing in Asher's body on the table unsurprisingly. "I'm guessing this is a bad time to introduce myself."

  • Raina forced herself to ignore Grey's overconfident posture, her prideful boastings, and raised her own hand. "Respectfully," she said hesitantly, trying to build on Daedra's comment without insulting her, "I would like to point out that you can't lump all these monsters together. If you treat a werewolf pack like a group of vampires, you'll go in sorely unprepared." Taking a deep breath, she pressed on. "I believe Mr. O'Del either overestimated himself or underestimated his targets. He bit off more than he could chew. I would easily be willing to believe a skilled hunter could take on one or two or even three werewolves at once, but against a whole pack I doubt even the greatest of hunters could escape with their lives. If he insisted on acting alone, he could have isolated one of his targets."

  • Jay Beagle - 17 - Male - Army Recruit
Jay raised his hand silently, resisting the urge to yell out a reporting statement, like he had been taught for the last few years. "Ma'am, I respectfully request that we close the debate for another day, and take some time to introduce ourselves and take roll call." He scratched down some notes on Raina. Sensible, nice, caring. Hesitant, not comfortable with being the focus of attention, but not afraid of it either. Very much an individual, needs nobody to tell her what to do. But may hesitate to claim lives if needed. Very trusting. Good teammate, but needs to find a delicate balance of emotions and work.

    Grey Daedra - 15 - Female - Dark Magus
Grey huffed as Raina spoke, but crossed her arms and dropped down into the desk, her braided hair nearly touching the floor from her seat. "I wasn't talking about monsters," she muttered, just loud enough that Raina could hear. She glanced at Jay as he spoke, and huffed again. "Names. Only name that matters is mine."

  • ooc: i love characters who are just... mean. its so much more fun. in other news, im gonna be super inactive from today to like the 23rd! so if im gone for a while that's why. i'll try to reply at least daily!

ic: Silaluk tried to ignore the arguing going on. She supposed it made sense. People who came to a school to hunt creatures were probably not going to be peaceful, friendly people. However, she wished they'd be a little more respectful. She leaned on her hand, glancing at Manolo, sharing his annoyance with the other people in the class. She began trying to think of examples, but she hadn't hunted before, wasn't part of the community. She pressed the eraser to her chin, frowning, and trying to think of something based on what Ms. Jones had already said about him.

Lee Jones looked annoyed that everyone was doing all this yelling and they weren't a part of it. They stood up, and tossed their hands up. "Everyone can stop being all annoying and arguing and stuff now!" They looked up towards the teacher. "He made a really obvious mistake. Like, a bunch of people were like, "no, don't do that" and he was like "yes I'm going to do that it sounds like a good idea". Like, clearly it was a bad idea, but he decided not to listen and went out and died. It's like when everyone tells you don't drink and drive but you do it anyway and you get in an accident. It's stupid." They sat down, satisfied with their contribution to the discussion, and prepared to yell things out again if necessary.

Henry looked at Asher with concern. Blacking out was never a good sign. Even for a couple seconds, it could mean that a concussion was moderate instead of mild. It was funny, though, Asher didn't seem to be hurting. Even if he said it hurt, he didn't seem... affected by it, or as dizzy and confused as he should be if he blacked out. Maybe he was the sort of person that was very good at hiding pain, but Henry had a lot of experience, and hadn't met anyone who seemed to be... faking the pain they should have. Suspicious, he stepped up to Asher, and touched the bruise with his thumb, rubbing it as if to remove a stain. Nope. Not makeup. Asher wasn't some sort of expert cosmetologist who found his way into a classified government school. "Well--" he was interrupted by Drew coming through the door. He straightened up, and his eyes flicked over Drew in a manner that could be mistaken for medical habit. "Oh, it's fine, just give us a minute," he said, turning to Asher. "You will need to rest, no reading, no phone, it's gonna be boring. We have beds in here. If you need an aspirin, tell me."

  • Bella Jones
"First, Grey. Line hunters do team up with others hunters or have allies to call up when a hunt is to difficult. Werewolves and vampires are different, vampires lack the healing factor and rough skin that werewolves have, mother are easier targets as well. But that's a topic we will get into next time. Raina, good. He did overestimate himself." She wrote that down on the board then almost froze at Lee's yelling but scribbled it down as well."I took attendance already, kid. I have documents on you guys and memorized your looks and mannerism. I'm a researcher after all. But introduce yourself, your home state, and why you are here." Bella spoke loudly and sat down on her desk, waiting for the conflict to break out.

    Miguel
Miguel was probably the first to rise up, "My name is Miguel, I'm from Mexico, I'm here to learn to hunt and give my friend Manolo moral support. He's antisocial and a bit angry." Miguel loudly spoke and pointed to Manolo, trying to brush his silver hair out of his face to reveal his happy grin, he sat right back down immediately afterward, he wanted to meet these people. He was smart and knew how to pick up personality traits from the way people spoke and moved around.

    Miguel
Miguel did slam his head full force into the table, reason one was he hated introductions, reason two Miguel just basically pointed him out when he was just happy to be ignored during all the conflict. He just silently glared at his male friend then to his female friend, yea, she was his friend now. She has no choice in it, she got on his good side by respecting his silence and awkwardness.

  • Jay Beagle - 17 - Male - Army Recruit
Jay snapped to attention as he introduced himself. "Private Jay Beagle, 17, Ohio. Member of the Armed Forces Joint Inhuman Extinction Squad." He promptly sat down, scratching down more names and mannerisms and moods. First impressions were important, of course. Especially in a class full of killers.

    Grey Daedra - 15 - Female - Dark Magus
Grey decided to go next, after 'Soulja boy'. Calming herself down, she smiled, stood and introduced herself. "Hi! My name is Grey Daedra, of the Daedra family, one if the most prominent names in Hunting history. The Daedra family hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as do I. I'm here because my family said I had to."

Dr. Drew Evans - 26 - Male - Tech Teacher and Cyborg
"Of course," Drew shrugged, eyes landing on Asher again. "You don't look at all special. Not like your si-" Drew shook the thought out of his head before he could finish the sentence. "Anyway, it's rude to converse without introductions. My name is Dr. Evans, the famed Inventor. What was your name again, Andrew?" Drew looked at him, trying to put a name to the face. "No, not that. Asenine, then?" The inventor went through a few more names beginning with A, finally his eyes lit up as he said, "Asher! That's right. The unimpressive, untalented Asher." He tried not to sound snide on the last few words, although they may have come out as such.

  • With a contemplative glance at Grey, Raina stood up. "Hi," she somehow managed to mutter-shout. "My name's Raina." Clearing her throat, she started standing up straighter and speaking more clearly. "I'm from southern California, but I'm here because I knew and looked up to some really great people who spent their whole lives in the hunting business," she explained. "They protected people who were powerless to do it for themselves, and I aspire to do the same thing." And look bad#ss while I do it, she added to herself as she sat down.
