//i had to i am harry potter trash
so your character can either be an incoming firstie or a student from an older year c: if you're not familiar with harry potter, picture a massive castle overlooking a lake in the mountains. this is hogwarts, a magic school. Uniform is black robes with your house tie. Houses are Gryffindor (brave, chivalrous, colours are red and gold), Slytherin (sly, cunning, colours are green and silver), Ravenclaw (clever, witty, colours are blue and bronze) and Hufflepuff (loyal, friendly, colours are black and yellow). We'll start with the sorting of the firsties, staff can be from year one c:

Teagan was seated at the far end of the Ravenclaw table that September. It had been a tiring train ride for the girl, and she yawned, slumped in her seat, as Headmaster Dumbledore rambled for a moment. Her hair had been meticulously groomed by her mother that morning, though at this point, stray curls were springing up from all over. The fifth year sighed, tapping a foot impatiently as she awaited the evening feast. It was just as glorious every year - dinners fresh and hot, goblets that filled with your desired drink independently. It was one of her favourite aspects of life at the magic school - though the views and archetecture were pretty impressive too; more so to the newer students. Speaking of which, the grand doors to the Great Hall swung open as this year's batch of eleven-year-olds filed into the massive room, gasping and gaping in wonder and awe. Candles floated above the tables, balancing in the air precariously beneath an enchanted raised ceiling that imitated the current night sky. The Ravenclaw grinned at all the fresh young faces, especially as eyebrows were raised at the patchy old hat they'd be putting on. The Sorting Hat was no ordinary hat, however - it had a kind of its own, and could read yours, teling you exactly which House you belonged to. As Professor McGonagall straightened out a scroll to call out the students' names, Teagan straightened up, curious as to who the new Ravenclaws would be. "When I call out your name, you will come forward and sit on this stool, and place the Sorting Hat on your head," the grey-haired woman explained hastily.

Titan sat at the Slytherin table, boredly watching for his name to be called. He was a 7th year, so he had heard this whole speech before.

The post was edited 1 time, last by TITAN. ().

  • [center][fancypost=bgcolor=;border: 0px solid white; width: 500px; text-align: justify; height: auto;font-size: 9pt; line-height: 122%; margin-top: -2px;]"'Think we'll get anyone interesting this year?" asked the girl as she slid up beside Titan at the table. She could not exactly call him her friend, despite having attended Hogwarts together all seven years. It was mostly her talking to him while he did his best to humor her. Actually, that was how most people treated N here. The other Slytherins just could not figure out how someone as bright and cheery as her could ever be sorted into their house. There was more to Nilo than that; granted, she rarely ever let it show.

With her elbows resting on the surface of the table and her chin perched on the heels of her hands, she glanced at T from the corner of her eye, a tiny smile playing on her lips. "Do you ever have any fun? Or is that just your face?" Trying to get Titan to look less like a zombie was a personal goal of hers, one she pursued vigorously.

  • God, she probably looked like a fool. Could you blame her, though? A week ago, she didn't even know magic existed. Yet, her parents had thrown this all upon her once that little letter had been set neatly on her desk.

The brunette took a deep breath, light brown eyes darting nervously around, catching onto the upperclassmen conversing on the other side of the room. Their robes- green, those were the Slytherins, if what she remembered was correct. She forgot what their house stood for.

She cracked her knuckles, glancing nervously up to the sorting hat again. That thing was going to dictate the next seven years of her life? A funny-looking hat with a face? You had to be kidding.

  • [center][fancypost=width: 450px; line-height: 120%; text-align: justify;][font='Georgia, serif']Ivylee was rather excited to get back to Hogwarts this year. She wanted to see all her friends, and be able to learn more about magic, and spells, and everything else she could possibly learn! Being only a second year, last year was her first year at the wizardry school, and she was rather curious to see who the newbies would be this year. The young girl sat at the hufflepuff table with her yellow and black tie hanging from her neck, nearly bouncing out of her seat as she waited anxiously for the hat sorting ceremony to begin. Oh look, it was starting! Ivy couldn't help but stare as she waited for names to be called, and for first years to be sorted into their houses for the first time. She hoped that there would be quite a few knew hufflepuffs, though of course, every house seemed to hope that they'd get some new first years as well.

Titan looked at Nils for a second before shrugging and returning his gaze to the sorting hat. "I hope so." He mumbled. When N commented again, he turned fully to her and said, "I'm a fun guy, I assure you." The teen just shook his head and glanced back at Dumbledore. "I've just been through this opening speech like seven times now. Wait until Quidditch tryouts." He was an excellent chaser, if he did say so himself.

  • "Autumn Equinius," the headmistress calls out.

Autumn took a deep breath and walked up to the sorting chair, sitting herself down, biting her lip and avoiding the gazes of those around her. Suddenly self-conscious, she wondered if they could all tell that she was 'muggle-born', as they had explained to her.

She sat silently, glancing up at the hat as it was placed down on her head. It hummed for a few moments, speaking about her mannerisms, a few notes about her kindness. "Hmm, yes... HUFFLEPUFF!" the hat cried out. Autumn looked up, curious to see what table would accept her into its ranks.

  • [center][fancypost=bgcolor=;border: 0px solid white; width: 500px; text-align: justify; height: auto;font-size: 9pt; line-height: 122%; margin-top: -2px;]Nilo snickered at his words, rolling her eyes as she leaned away from the table with an exasperated sigh. "I know, I've been here for seven years, too, in case you've forgotten." But she was not nearly as bored with the process as T was. There was plenty of food to eat when she got bored, and tons of people to socialize with. N cocked her head, returning her attention to Titan. "Quidditch? Oh yeah! I forgot you played, yikes." she paused. "You any good?"

  • It was nerve-racking, the idea of a hat telling him his destiny. But the pureblood had the feeling he didn't have to worry too much. After all, it wasn't like he was a muggle. Not that there was anything wrong with muggles, he was just still glad he wasn't one himself, considering the fact bullying muggles was common. But where would he end up anyways? Hopefully not Slytherin, that was where all the bad wizards came from, and he didn't want to be a bad wizard. It was unlikely though he would get Griffindor either, considering the fact he at times was a huge wimp. That left Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Oh hopefully he wouldn't be a Hufflepuff, how humiliating. Especially someone from a pureblood family. No, Hufflepuff was for the.. less talented individuals with nothing special about them, and the specktacled male considered himself decently special.

/Could high positions have some sort of title in this?? like house captains ect??
also this is super messy sorry

The Ravenclaw flicked her bleach white hair away from her face, watching with anticipation. Sorting ceremonies were always her favourite, but considering she was in seventh year, this would be her last. Glancing over to the slytherin table, her eyes found themselves to Titan. Smiling to herself a little, she looked away and turned her attention back to the center of the room.

  • [center]- - - - -[fancypost=bgcolor=; border:0; width:450px; text-align:justify; font-size:10px; line-height:1.5]//yeah, I guess so! There is one Head Boy and one Head Girl, and then a male and female prefect from each house
if not, you could be a quidditch captain c:

Tea felt her spirit lifting as the ceremony began. No matter how tired she was, the old castle always found a way to bring a smile to her face. She clapped cheerfully for Autumn, the newest Hufflepuff, finding new energy to welcome the latest students to the school. The girl was no prefect, though she still made it her duty to help the newcomers settle in. After all, not all Ravenclaws were straight-A students. Not all Gryffindors had the courage to face their worst fears. Not all Slytherins were cruel as a stereotype suggested and certain members of the House enforced. Not all Hufflepuffs thought they belonged amongst the friendly and hard-working individuals of their House, yet eventually, everyone learned to accept it. Tea had decided, after meeting an upset firstie the previous year, to ensure they not only accepted their House, but enjoyed being a part of it. The curly-haired teen slid down to Himiko, oblivious to the glances between the seventh year and Titan. "Reckon we'll get a good bunch of Ravenclaws this year?" she asked. A conversation starter, of sorts. Usually Slytherin and Gryffindor got the majority of students.

//subtly makes her house captain whoops
"I hope so" she smiled, adjusting her blue and silver tye. Himiko had always felt like she belonged in Ravenclaw, but she grew to feel more accepting and learned to appreciate the sorting hats choice. "We need to win house cup this year" she girl sighed, letting out a deep sigh. It was always either Gryffindor or Slytherin fighting over it, leaving the other two houses in the dust.

Titan managed a smirk and looked at N before huffing, "Am I any good? I'd say I'm one of the best players out of the houses." He was pretty good, so that may have been the truth.

As he looked up at the sorting ceremony, someone caught his interest out of the corner of his eye. He turned to the Ravenclaw table and his gaze landed on a pretty blonde girl. Titan gulped when she glanced back at him and he looked down and away from her, muttering to N, "That Ravenclaw chick was totally checking me out."

  • [center][fancypost=bgcolor=;border: 0px solid white; width: 500px; text-align: justify; height: auto;font-size: 9pt; line-height: 122%; margin-top: -2px;]A grin spread across her features, thick brows arching in a mocking expression of awe. "Really?" She asked with a smirk. "I'll have to see it to believe it, handsome." N snickered. Hopefully Titan paid no mind to her teasing; she knew he was good, he was good at pretty much everything he did. She just had a hard time giving anyone a real compliment - everything just turned into a joke the moment it left her mouth.

At his mention of a girl, her attention switched to the other side of the room. "Who? The blonde hottie?" She asked, squinting as if the action were going to help her see in better detail. "Not bad..." yeah that ravenclaw girl was a total babe. "You gonna talk to her or what? Can't let all the sexy, quidditch playing mojo go to waste."

David Stellar Peixes. What a name.

He hated his middle name, it sounded too much like a name in that one Muggle show "My Little Pony." Or something ditsy and girly like that. The eleven year old boy sat with the rest of the unsorted first years, stubbornly fixing his eyes on his feet, which seemed to be rooted to the ground. He wanted to be a Gryffindor, like his older sister Meenah had been before...

the Peixes family didn't talk about that incident. They didn't even think about it.

    "David Peixes," the headmistress called.

Oh, Merlin's Beard. This was it. He'd be a Gryffindor for sure, just like his idolized older sister. Right?

The hat was placed onto his head.

Ah yes. Quitie insecure, cunning however...
the hat didn't take too long. That was to be expected. What was not expected, was the final result.

    "SLYTHERIN!"

    No. No.

Dave tried not to let the tears flow. Not now. They pricked against his eyes, but they didn't come. Thank God.

At least that was one thing to be thankful for.

"Oh, Meenah," he whispered, "I've failed you."
