Olivier let out a long sigh, standing slowly on sore legs. His back ached as he moved slowly down the hall, shuffling steps leading him to the kitchen. He hunched with a soft grunt as the twinge in his back turned to a violent tensing of his muscles. Agony tore through him as he leaned over the counter, gripping tightly to its edge with the hand that wasn't holding his back.
He cursed softly in his native tongue, breathing harshly as the episode passed and he was able to stand straight once more. Well, straight in the sense he wasn't completely hunched over in his pain and misery.
His movements were stiff as he reached to open the fridge, hissing softly as pulling back to open it caused a small ripple of pain through him. Grabbing the chilled chai tea latte from the fridge took a moment, and he cringed at the thought of how overdone the name sounded. The spices in it tasted good, not his fault.
Slowly he shuffled to a chair, the one he'd been in all day, and sank slowly down into it. He sipped carefully at his drink, choking mid sip as his muscles once again went tight and the agony tore through him like a knife.
He'd been like this for a week, and he'd been alone all week. He'd considered calling his friends but they were all doing much more important things, and he knew that. So he suffered through days without water, food, sleep. It was exhausting and the medicine was making him dizzy but what else could he do to try and ease the pain?
Setting his chai aside he leaned back, wheezing out a gasp of a breath. The pain was only getting worse, and he knew he needed to quit take the medicine if it wasn't helping. Coughing softly, he winced and relaxed back again as the episode slowly left him with nothing more than a sore back.
He was tired, but he couldn't sleep any like this. He was hungry but he couldn't stomach the food as much pain as he was in. The least he could do is stay hydrated while he suffered and prayed out of desperation for this to just be over.
Sometimes he hated being mortal as he was, unable to understand much of what his friends went through. It was tiring trying to keep up with a bunch of demigods as a weak little human. They didn't get you, and you didn't get them.
He idly considered the lives his friends now led, smiling faintly at the memories it brought. Luka was a world renowned doctor with Stiles at his side, killing off the diseases of their world. Jason was president, ensuring the country took a glance for the better with his entire family of geniuses at his sides. Arratay was traveling the world as a silent hero, saving those who needed it and serving out justice as he saw fit. Nina had the family she'd always wanted, Josh had finally found his peace, his daughter was working under Luka and making a living all her own. He was proud to know such outstanding people, but it was tiring. They did such wonderful things and the most he could do was a few fancy sword tricks.
Resting his head back in defeat ,his eyes slipped shut and he let himself drift off slowly. It wouldn't last long, he knew. He'd wake up again in the same place in pain, would ride out the episode and give in to the urge to try the medicine again out of desperation. He needed something to work, nothing worked and he was tired of being in agony every second his body deemed it necessary. He wanted a break and he wasn't going to get that if he couldn't get his back problem under control.
Slowly his thoughts went from clear and well put together to slurred and messy, eventually quieting down to nothing as he slipped into unconsciousness.
I Will Let You Down [p]

Elise had never been so happy in he life. She could finally go see her dad! She was smiling brightly and when she got to his house she quickly ran to the door like a little kid coming home from school. She knocked on the door happily but she got worried when he didn't answer. She knocked again and waited but after a while she decided to just go inside. She opened the door nervously. "Dad..." She called nervously.
"Dad are you okay?" She was scared and she just wanted him to be okay. She finally found him and ran to him. -
Olivier opened his eye slowly, squinting as he was assaulted by light. He took a moment to open them again, properly, glancing at Elise. A soft curse rolled from his mouth as he sat forward a bit, wincing at the pain that came with the small movement.
"Elise. Wasn't expecting you." He murmured, looking over at her.
"I 'ope you aren't 'ere for good company." -
"I came to see you. I missed you." She said quietly. She was twenty and still missed her dad.
-
"Sweet of you to remember me." He hummed, mostly joking as he carefully lifted himself out of his chair to give her a hug.
Hi back angrily protested the movement but he ignored it. -
She hugged him happily and smiled a bit. She was worried but she was happy to see him.
-
Olivier let out a soft hiss as his back once again declared it hated him, muscles wrenching tightly and causing him unnecessary pain.
-
Elise looked at him and stayed quiet for a minute. "Are you okay?" She asked quietly.
-
"Eh... Oui I am just... 'aving back spasms again." He murmured, dismissively waving his hand at her.
"I am fine." -
"You're lying." She said quietly. She messed around with a bit of her hair and stayed quiet.
-
"I am not lying." Olivier grumbled crossly, casting her a gentle glare.
"I am 'aving back spasms again but I'll be fine. It always 'urts like 'ell." He shrugged, moving to sit again because standing was proving too tiring. -
She nodded and just stayed quiet. She smiled brightly when she remembered something she handed him a little bag with snacks inside at the very bottom there was a pink and white letter on the inside. The letter was just telling him that her girlfriend, Adelina Castillo, had proposed.
-
Olivier felt queasy at the prospect of eating, but spotted the note easy enough. Despite his pain he smiled softly, glancing up to his daughter. As usual his emotions were blocked off, the nauseating pain in his back didn't help but he hoped she could pick up how proud of her and happy for her he was.
-
Elise smiled happily but she was worried. She wanted to be able to do something to help him. She was a healer but she specialized in psychiatry and psychology, she specialized in mental issues and even though she liked what she did, she didn't like that she couldn't help her father.
-
"Mm. While you're 'ere do you mind grabbing my medicine from the bathroom?" He muttered, leaning back and shutting his eyes.
"Then we can talk about this proposal properly." -
She quickly ran off and grabbed his medicine then came back.
-
"Ah, merci." He muttered, taking one of each of the three medications.
With a huff he settled back and used his cane to point at an easily oveable chair across from him.
"Pull up a chair and sit down." -
Elise smiled and sat down with her dad happily.
-
Olivier smiled softly, a smile he only gave to her and now that she was part of this little family Elise's girlfriend as well.
"So tell me. Was it romantic?" -
Elise's face went bright red as she nodded and quietly told him everything. Adelina had taken her out to her favorite place in the world, Disneyland. Elise loved Disneyland and because it was her birthday, Adelina had the cast members turn Elise into a princess. At first Elise felt childish until she looked in the mirror, she was in a beautiful sky blue and white dress with her hair braided in a braid she'd never be able to recreate if she tried. She had the cast member lead her to the area where the pirates were. The pirates had surrounded her and Adelina ran off the ship and saved her. They had dinner on the ship with and amazing view of the ocean and the sunset and that's when she proposed. While Elise was watching the sunset she had somehow managed to get her to get her to look away she'd gotten down on one knee and asked her to be her princess.
